Never judge someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes. That way, when you judge them, you are a mile away and you have their shoes.

I left for England in 2005 with my touring bike and trailer in the hold. As I left Christchurch and walked through the tunnels leading to the plane the song “Follow That Dream” came into my head – from nowhere really – and I bounced walked onto the plane.
My thousand mille plus journey had begun.

G’morning every one.
So enjoy the prep. with a good cuppa.

A journey barefoot? a backpack with some essentials?

Oh Dear – those fearsome faces and scary chanting doesn’t appear to have worried the Canadian Woman’s Rugby Team.
In fact after 5 minutes it appeared that one team hadn’t spent all its energy on a pre mating ritual.

Even though she is from South Canterbury……….she would not have made that much of a difference, too light if in the forwards and no ball if in the backs. They were so outplayed.

is there a bit of a glaringly obvious trend for both the mens and womens teams then?
you could make the same observations of kids and nzs education system too… ace the kapa haka but fail to read, write and math.

you may know hp, i cant be arsed googling it but does amy du plessis still play for the kiwi team? she was our neighbour for a couple of years and i had alot to do with her parents, i watched an attractive young south african chick turn into a bulky lesbian look alike with all that training.

She is/was in the team but injured in the first game and out of the tournament, as will the rest of them after another 40 minutes.
S.B.- perhaps you should reassess your prevailing view of her – open the instagram link.

knew she wasnt lesbo, she just bulked up like one, pretty sure thats the same guy she met not long after her and her family moved in next door.

was unreal to see all the training and dedication she put in back then, flying all over the country for trials and games etc pretty much weekly plus training near every day. her parents busted their arses running 1000cow farm and getting her to all her rugby commitments, her father esp went to pretty much every game.

i couldnt imagine suffering 40yrs doing the same old shit in the same place
the outfit i currently work for is the longest ive stayed put, almost 5yrs. before that its usually 3 years max before i get bored and move on, guess you could say ive been in agriculture for 20 odd years but its been across many parts of it (dairy, arable, beef, contracting) and in many roles within those parts.
stupid boy likes to be challenged and learn new things, also like and thrive under pressure… current role im now very bored and shouldve ditched it a year or so back but i wanna be fully self employed/reliant again so gotta get a bit more $$ behind me to branch out (gunna do it without taking on debt), hopefully i can get there in the next 6mnths and give these cunts the middle finger and move on to something i actually wanna do. id rather do something i like that pays less than a shit higher paying job.

i no longer give a fuck about “riches” and lots of $$$ ive come to realise time off and enjoying life is more valuable, money is a cunt, im actually starting to hate money and the concept of it, it turns us into slaves and shackles us to a life of being controlled esp if one fucks up and turns money into debt.

ED , I have a great friend who I’ve known most of my life who insists the 12 year old daughter had a baby 4 months ago to her father ,we may not be talking for a while after my response,I hope she’s wrong she’s married to a cop.

every iteration of that rumour ive heard has come from either “family member of a cop/first responder” or “relative of tom phillips who lives local”.

i recall a rumour well over a year ago that tom had shacked up with a woman who was helping him and his kids and she was pregnant. id like to think its that and its been conflated with his daughter by toms haters as one last smear.
who fucking knows, but hiding it with an injunction isnt gunna help it one bit. just remember all the rumours that were “100% true” from cops/etc via “family members” over the past 5 yrs.

winston even had to apologise to harry tam over one of those 100% true rumours. the hundeds of bodies from the cyclone never eventuated, we only had a few of the hundreds of imminent lockdowns, cindy only resigned once outve the many times she was going to according to the solid inside source etc.

the moment people start mentioning authoritive figures or nameless ppl closely related as a way to validate a rumour it throws a big red flag.
the tom rumour for example a few days after he was shot wifeys mate calls up to gossip about said rumour… “you know that house on the corner by the vet clinic, well theyre a relative of tom phillips and theyve told us the rumour is 100% true”…. i know the ppl that live in that house and theyve fucking tongans ffs, i didnt know tom was tongan lol.

In my experience, there is nothing nastier than the network of cops’ bitches.
Their appetite for spreading gossip is limitless, but their commitment to truth is not. From first blush it was evident there had been departures from procedure so there is now a concerted effort to misdirect the public eye.
I don’t suppose your cops wife just happened to answer the burning question: Who fired first?

If that is right certainly puts a completely different outlook on the whole subject and one can see where the monster comment comes from.
If it is wrong, “she’s married to a cop” that is evil that they are deliberately spreading such a rumour.

She’s married to a cop?
Well, that tells its own tales.
They get fed bullshit all through their system. Had the occasion to be dealing with one at the very time it was going down. Asked him what was happening, and he replied There are all sorts of emails flying around.
The cops couldn’t nail Shipton and co from their own ranks even though they were well aware of their activities, nor can they get the truth about a number of high-profile cases e.g. the sounds.
They are a bullshit outfit.

Until the law requires them to prove their case properly, they will always lie.

I now understand that Tom Phillips did not have a high powered rifle.
It was a high powered air gun.

Will we ever be shown the pellets that went into that police car ? ? ? or produce the supposed bullets.

All to mask the search teams checking on gun licensees, when one can figure that air rifle would be probably be untraceable to an owner as it does not need to be registered.

Driving through to Timaru on Wednesday came upon the normal 200-300 metres of cones with a stop/go person each end. On the blocked side of the road were 3 trucks, one had concrete culverts on it, one had a digger on it and one had traffic management shit on it. There were also 2 white vehicles belonging to a road maintenance firm. Standing in a little semi circle talking circle were 4 red coated personnel.
On our return say 3 hours later most of the cones, the stop go and all the vehicles had gone. Over from the side of the actual road against the fence on the road verge were the 6/8? culverts that had been unloaded and left. No sign on any other work.
Just wow really.

Yakking about te raro

I went to the Mercury Powerco AGM yesterday (Friday)
lots of te Raro
a Te Raro director or 2.

all parroting on.

a 144 page annual report to hide that there was a mere one million dollar profit on three quarters of a billion turnover.

and costs WILL be lower next year and the year after ….despite going up every year in the past and present
and this will be bedder
blah blah

sounded like a luxcinda ramble.
The directors were pretty fluffy
The CEO seemed better and actually answered questions unlike the chairman
who is Scott St John
profile
Scott is Chair of ANZ Bank New Zealand and a director of the ANZ Group and Next Foundation.
He was formerly a director of Fonterra Cooperative Group,
a member of the Capital Markets Development Taskforce and the Financial Markets Authority Establishment Board
and was Chancellor of the University of Auckland.

yeah nah, cuz

mainly professional directors
an audience member asked if there was an electrical engineer on the Board
That was sidestepped.
You have to be joking, right!!!

I have shares and bought in 2013 but have not been a customer since 2010
They treat customers poorly so I figured they are mean to customers they will be profitable. better an owner than a customer.

No questions from the floor were answered straight, except by the CEO; but not by directors .

The NZ directors pool is very shall and Incestuous.
a sign of Net Zero productivity.
Everything good was going to happen in the future. Yay.
just don’t look at out current performance.
I thought I had stumbled into a notional party conference,

the reward for nearly 2 hours of fluff was one biscuit and one coffee in a paper cup.

oh and Mike Taitoko was standing down
I think it was the weight of the big bone around his neck dragging him down !!!

What a great idea. Slap companies importing low wage workers to undercut locals, by applying a big fee for doing so. Even better – don’t let the fuckers in in the first place:

https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/trump-slap-h1-b-visas-100000-fee-infosys-cognizant-plunge

Kiwibank is in the process of offshoring at least some of its IT to the Phillipines. Isn’t it funny how the scum at the top of the greasy pole never suggest offshoring their positions. I’m sure there would be thousands of Indians ready to take the opportunity at less than half the incumbents’ inflated salaries.

Viking

It’s a numbers and quality game.

NZ has an employee problem in terms of getting enough people at the right time of day or night and in sufficient numbers at a reasonable cost.
Assuming that they will know how to work when they do turn up.

Now, not knocking Kiwis as there are a lot of hard-working ones, and a lot of the time it comes down to leadership. But there are lots that are born and trained to be lazy.

As AI is developing, it will fix some of that.
But while people in NZ are rich and don’t need to work to eat, nothing will change. Employers, mostly us small ones have to work to survive our shithouse governments..

I can tell you that at least in IT there is an oversupply of labour and it’s due solely to imported workers.

And if you think the quality of the IT staff being engaged during outsourcing is remotely equivalent to that of people here (including foreign imports), then I have a bridge to sell you.

But I take your point that there are vast swathes of NZers who can’t be arsed working.

Viking
Reply to  FJA

Don’t disagree, but like in China, when they want engineers, 300 turn up; in America, it’s lucky if there are 30.
So break it into small smart bits, and they get a result.

Mmost of that outsourcing is likely answering the phones or email queries, not writing code.
Generally, they have a reasonable grasp of English, and if they don’t earn money, they don’t eat.

FJA
FJA
Reply to  Viking

This is writing code and doing BAU run work and the standard of both is appalling. The fact that in the entire subcontinent they can only find incompetent cretins suggests that the pay scale is absolute rock bottom even by Indian standards.

They (the company the work has gone to) engage more than twice as many people to do the work, but because they’re so fucking hopeless they’re not any faster and the quality is awful. As a result I strongly suspect that the entity who thought outsourcing was such a great idea, is not financially any better off when those factors are taken into account.

Probably true, but contracting out gets rid of all the pesky things like sick days, holiday pays, GST etc. etc.

They are following others. ANZ still have their phones answered here, which I appreciate.

time will tell. Also with AI so much of that work will be taken over.
Working on that.
Seen some very good use of AI.
Like everything (including people who answer the phone), it has to be trained.

Māori Language Week 2025: Air NZ marks milestone with te reo Māori commercial flightAucklander Gina Cole boarded an Air New Zealand flight from Auckland to Queenstown on Friday, the start of a birthday getaway with her partner and mother. That flight turned into both a birthday gift and a moment of cultural pride.

She was on Flight NZ634, crewed by a team who delivered service in te reo Māori and English, broke into waiata, and handed out prizes for a reo trivia quiz.

“The reo effort by the crew was unexpected and gave me the pride and confidence to persevere with my own reo journey,” Cole said.

She found herself at the front of the plane, demonstrating her pūkana — the fierce facial expression used in haka and waiata to emphasise emotion. The cabin erupted in cheers and claps, and she left with a spot prize and a surge of pride.

Getting really bad down Masterton way.

Naaska and Mrs naaska in their nineties, are both having problems
remembering things.
During a check-up, the doctor tells them that
they’re physically okay, but they might want to start writing things
down to help them with their faulty memories.

Later that night, while watching TV, the naaska gets up from
his chair. “Want anything while I’m in the kitchen?” he asks.

“Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?’ she answers.
“Sure,” he says and heads for the kitchen.

“Don’t you think you should write it down?” she asks
sweetly.
“No need,” he responds, ‘I can remember that”

“Well, I’d like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should
write all that down, so you don’t forget it.”

He says, “I can remember that — you want a bowl of ice cream
with strawberries.”

“I’d also like some whipped cream,” she continues. “And I’m
certain you’ll forget that, so will you please write it down?”

And from the kitchen, he shouts. “I don’t need to write it
down, I can remember it, for God’s sake! Ice cream with strawberries
and whipped cream – I got it!”

After about 20 minutes, the naaska shuffles back and hands
his wife a plate of bacon and eggs.
She stares at the plate for a
moment and says, “So? Where’s the toast!?”

Wasn’t on Wiki.

A prostitute was leaning against the wall outside a dusty little motel in a sleepy town. Business had been slow all week, and she was getting desperate.

Just then, she spotted an old man—must’ve been well past 70—shuffling down the street.
With a playful whistle, she called out,
“Hey handsome, how about a little fun?”
The old man stopped, scratched his head, and said,
“Ah… but I don’t think I’ll be able to…”

She smirked and cut him off,
“Oh, don’t worry about that. Come on, old-timer, give it a try!”

He hesitated, then shrugged. “Alright then.”
The two slipped into a room, and the moment they hit the bed—BAM! The old man transformed. Like a man possessed, he went at it with the energy of a 20-year-old, keeping the pace for a full hour.

When they were finally done, the prostitute lay flat on the bed, gasping for air, her hair a mess. She looked at him, stunned, and said,
“Good Lord! You said you wouldn’t be able to…”

The old man calmly buttoned up his shirt, smiled, and finished,
“…pay you.”
