I see one of the things he says about the low turn out for the Council elections was the candidates have to have a compelling case (set of ideas / policies) to get people to vote.
BUT NN we thought National had a few good policies so some voted for you (not me because I thought you, personally, were not a leader). Then when your party got in they turned their back on the most important policies.

im not sure if its nationwide but the few local primary schools and the college my daughter attends have got a new handwriting program and its done wonders for most of the kids especialy the primary schools.

When our kids were at primary school mid 1980’s to early 1990’s they had just changed from phonics to whole reading. We had to teach our kids to read using phonics regardless of the school’s opinions. All three of them are good readers as a result. It’s only taken over 30 years to come to the correct conclusion. Pity so many kids had to fail in the meantime.
Educationalists come & educationalists go. It seems that whether a child is going to learn anything during their 10 or 12 years at school depends on which age they’re brought up in.
I like many here would have learned to read through the “look & say” method which was how reading was taught in NZ up to the C1970s.
Then came phonetics which was replaced by whole language which is now being replaced by phonetics again. So four cycles where two systems were either the best or the worst in my lifetime.
