to be fair tho if it wasnt for the covid crap that made me skeptical and look into new meds my fat arse would probably have used one of those new drugs outve sheer laziness.
i read up the ones that can be used/sold in nz, pretty much theyre a waste of fucking time as unless you completely change your lifestyle and diet youll pile the lost weight back on plus some once you stop taking it and same happens if you stay on the drugs and your body gets used to/immune to it… so youre better off healthwise and financially to just do it the traditional way, theres no quick fix miracle only temporary illussions.
anyways stupid boy cut 90% of his sugar intake a few months back aswell as resisting the urge to stop at the shop to buy pies and has managed to shed 13kg so far! and cuz im feeling alot better im becoming more and more active and pushing my body physically now, giving the middle finger to the cunts i worked for in a job sitting on my arse all day is gunna help a bit more aswell 🙂
i think cutting the sugar has been the biggest thing tho, the first couple weeks everything tastes bland and your body screams for something sweet, once you get through that initial period the cravings go away and tastes improve. ive had the odd sugar laden booze beverage when at mates and i find them undrinkable now theyre so bloody sweet.

one of wifeys old mates got the about band 7yrs ago, she mustve dropped 80-100kg and was looking great. we bumped into them a year or so ago and he looked same old but she looked like she ate the old her and then dined at kfc everyday for the last 4 or 5yrs, fucking enormous again.

Worked with a dumb cow a couple years back who’d had the band put on in Thailand. Grazed non-stop. All shitty processed snack foods and sugary energy drinks and she was well on the way back into fat clothes. Haven’t seen her in a while but I imagine the chins are all back in place.

As an aside, this morning I phoned our cat’s vet for a repeat of her EXPENSIVE thyroid meds. She is a box of birds, often playing, eats and maintaining a good weight, and is obviously feeling well.
I was annoyed when once AGAIN they insisted on expensive blood tests to see if the meds need adjusting (had the same scenario more than once). The cat hates the car and gets distressed so I said the bloods aren’t necessary and I’m not bringing her down.
They refused to supply the meds without the blood test so the ‘gold plated cat’ is off to the bloody vet tomorrow! 🙀
Bugger that its only a cat, cheaper to just replace it than off to the vets for meds

reminds me of an incident a bit over 20yrs ago, a mates parents who are hippy types in the tasman region had “jubes” (LSD laced lollies) in the fridge. they had a get together with mates and their then 4 or 5yr old daughter found them and handed them out to the other kids… yeah, they had the time of their lives in a room at the local hospital. they were fine a day or so later. the staff were quite good and understanding of the fuckup and no cops or cyfs got involved.
Those two must have ate half the cake each!

I recall when the DPB came in, and it seemed that many girls in my class, were very ok become solo-mums, that seemed to pay a cheap rent on a state house.
Of course very community minded as I know some had about 3-4 for their half siblings.
The state paid for all repairs & maintainence
I recall that many “in-house” set-ups had very cheap rents, like the teachers, when $15:00 a week really did not cover the costs to maintain a house.
If no teacher it was still rented out very cheaply to whoever.
In one town one mother was told she would lose the house when her daughter left school to go out to work, but voila, daughter saved the day & made her Mum a grand-mother.
In part I figure a lot of the turblence in housing never has the mass immigration consequences seriously looked at.
Easily kept hidden with cries of “racism” “xenophobia” right-wing” sort of bought off on that for the sake of your health, you would have no doctors or nurses.
Yet their also used to be “nurses homes” for the solo nurse.
No one has worked through just what are the consequences &* the benefit.
At least now there is a bit of noise about immigration being candy floss to puff up GDP & for some maybe starting to see GDP that it sounds good for the country. While in the mean time GDP spread much more thinly, when our politicians should be recognizing us native citizens,
GDP to be more figured & made more accountable to be per-capita.
Then it would be more obvious to some, that is the path to the mysteriious increase of productivity, which will benefit the actual citizens of NZ.
It’s probably a good deal for all concerned. The money is recovered if the house is sold, it only applies to first home buyers & can only be drawn on if they have less than $100,000 in a cash deposit.
NZ lost massively when State Advances stopped lending at favourable rates to first home buyers. The pride of ownership & the resultant stake in the community does more for citizen well being than any amount of welfare meddling & social programmes.
No disagreement on the benefits of home ownership, but there’s a difference between what State Advances did and what’s happening now. One was a pure loan – presumably at a decent rate that only the government could borrow at, the other is a wealth transfer.
I have no problems with your logic but in Godzone politics trumps fairness. The taxpayer may be effectively subsidising first home purchases yet it subsidises the rentier classes through the accommodation supplement & some think it is a good thing.
In a historic moment for Kiwis’ rights, we’ve just passed the Regulatory Standards Bill through its final stage in Parliament.
Here’s one story that shows why it’s needed:
One of my constituents, who I’ll call Robin, came to my office after her life was devastated by the Earthquake-Prone Buildings law.
What began as routine maintenance on her Auckland apartment triggered obligations under that law. The costs wiped out a huge chunk of her retirement savings.
She read aloud from her letter:
“It is not only for the money that I grieve. I now have a changed place in the world, one where I am not able to contribute as I had planned, to my family, friends, clubs and community and in fact I will probably be one who has to ask for the support of others. My plan was for generous, financially independent living, socialising, travelling, volunteering. It is now constrained and I am disempowered.”
Robin learned the Government is rolling back those rules, especially so in Auckland where earthquake risks are low. But the change came too late to help her, and she felt betrayed.
She was right to feel that way. The costs were known at the time: tens of billions of dollars for almost no gain in safety. Parliament ignored the advice.
If it’s too late for Robin, how can we ensure things like this don’t happen again? We need to make it normal that the impacts on people’s lives are put up in lights when Parliament passes a law.
That’s what the Regulatory Standards Bill does. It won’t stop Parliament from passing laws, but it will force lawmakers to show their working, to be transparent about costs, benefits, and the impact on people’s freedoms and property rights.
Yes, the Canterbury earthquakes were a tragedy, but we should have asked more questions before legislating away livelihoods for little to no gain in lives. If we’d had the Regulatory Standards Act in 2016, Robin might still have her retirement savings.
