Morning all at 7.15 .
fuck off, it’s a holiday.
no work, sleep time.
And, still bloody raining.
Have a nice day.
Morning Sooty,
Waikato gets our anniversary day today but it’s always pissed me off they call it Auckland Anniversary day. WTF!
That’s like being forced to sharing your birthday with a big sister you detest
Rant over
Happy Australia Day
There Australia Day beats our bonga day!
Sooner its cancelled the better. Wouldn’t be 6 dead people at the mount.

This article from wiki might be of interest as to ‘The reasons why’.
Overview of Auckland Anniversary DayAuckland Anniversary Day is a public holiday celebrated in the northern regions of New Zealand, particularly in Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and parts of Gisborne. It commemorates the arrival of Lieutenant-Governor William Hobson in the Bay of Islands on January 29, 1840, marking the establishment of the colony.
Historical BackgroundEstablishment
Significance of the Date
Regatta Tradition
Modern Observance
Ongoing DiscussionsThere are ongoing discussions about potentially changing the anniversary date to September 18, which some argue is more relevant to Auckland’s founding. This date marks when Ngāti Whātua leaders laid the foundations for the city.
Thanks Komata. I’m totally aware of the reason.
AH gets it 😒
Enjoy your regional holiday AH

Why have a Christchurch day, why not a day covering all south island.
Well try living in the Darkest King Country and calling your Anniversary Day, Auckland Anniversary Day. Whoever worked that one out is an absolute Fuckwit.
TAH
The name reflects the fact that at one time, New Zealand consisted of several different administrative areas (Termed ‘Provinces’) that were intended to operate in a way similar to Australian or Canadian states, and that as a result, the North Island was effectively divided in half at a point at the bottom end of Lake Taupo.
North of that ‘Line of division’ became ”Auckland’ Province while the southern half became ‘Wellington’ Province.
As can be seen from my reply to waikatogirl, the date of 29 January was deemed to be the date upon-which ‘Auckland’ became an administrative entity,, and similar processes were followed in Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill – the ‘capitals’ if you will of the individual provinces..
However, the provinces were found to be unsuited to the New Zealand political and administrative environment, and were later abolished as self-governing entities, but while the provinces had their ‘political’ power removed, the by-now well-entrenched holidays remained in place since no politician was brave enough to take them away from their constituents. To do so would have been political suicide.
And so they remain – relics of an early part of New Zealand history, that is now accepted as being ‘Just another holiday’.
Noticeably, no one is asking that they be removed…
Another anachronism like the Maori then.
….”and that as a result, the North Island was effectively divided in half at a point at the bottom end of Lake Taupo.”….
All true but it doesn’t fully explain the celebration of anniversary days. Eg Taranaki on 9 Mar & Hawkes Bay on 23 October.
Yeah, know the feeling WG. But I’ll take it!
Northland forgotten again. Unfortunately we’ve got the national day of shame and division happening on the 6th. The early settlers never let us forget that.
Bit more rain and you lot will float away.
Bit chilly. 12º overnight.

The filthy police were phoned early in the morning and didn’t take any action, would have been so easy to actually do their job and send a patrol car out to investigate
The area is council-owned and operated by Bay Venues, which is a PCBU, therefore governed by the law relating to Health and Safety; as such, it then comes under WorkSafe to investigate.
As a PCBU, the directors are help reposibilbe for the Health and Safety policy.
It appears that the staff had no idea what to do and when, and that would be because of either a lack of policy around this issue or a lack of staff training.
If the reports are to be believed, there were 9 staff at the pools and 12 at the campground.
If you look at the boards of Directors since Pike River, they place a lot of emphasis on putting safety policy in place. ( Look at farms, for example and orchards.)
So, unless the directors have done that and have it reported on regularly, they are in the firing line.
Until, of course, some smart arse lawyer paid by them or the council and its bent CEO finds a way out.
It’s not like the risk is a new one. The slip face has slipped before. There was plenty of warning from the weather and news services that it was going to rain, as it did.
worst council in the country…except maybe wellington
Much better than it was.
Just gotta get rid of a few more entrenched people and we are on a win.

Absolutely no one!
The council clipboard wankers will give themselves a free pass.
The hierarchy of all the disaster relief, will play dress up and pat themselves on the back.
Meanwhile the ones that did all the work, will eventually finish when allowed to carry on after been stopped by all the wankers. Then go back to carry on with their lives.
No one will be charged, taken to Court or loose their heads, especially the Jigaboo’s who currently own it, unlike the white Honkey’s, the Buttle brothers who owned White Island for whom WorkSafe pursued relentlessly through the Courts after the 2019 eruption there.

APOLOGY FROM IAN WISHART
Yesterday I posted a commentary on the Mt Maunganui tragedy in which I praised Met Service/NIWA for finally getting a “record rainfall” claim right – I accepted at face vale their claim via the mainstream media that Tauranga’s 274mm deluge in 24 hours this week was a new record. Unfortunately I was wrong, and MetService/NIWA either lied or were incompetent.
The 274mm record claimed by Met Service on 22 January as Tauranga’s highest 24 hour rainfall since records began in 1910, was published by them to NZ and global media.
The Government’s Science Media Centre republished the claim with comment from “experts”.
But, it turns out it wasn’t true.
Although I found bigger rainfalls in the Bay of Plenty in the historic records, I accepted yesterday that the experts were right about Tauranga city’s wettest day given that they had records going back to 1910.
Silly me. Never trust NIWA or the Science Media Centre. It’s a rule I have lived by since 2009 and has served me well and I am sorry I didn’t follow it on this occasion.
So what is Tauranga’s actual rain record then?
On 18 May 2005, NIWA recorded a 347mm deluge in Tauranga over the previous 24 hours. NIWA claimed it as a new record.
How are Met Service/NIWAs databases so shockingly bad that they forgot about a 347mm downpour only 21 years ago? That 2005 record is 73mm higher than the 274mm “record” they lied to the Government and the world’s media about this week.
And I’m confident the media stunt this week was not incompetence; I believe it was a deliberate deception to mislead the public. Here’s why:
NIWA often tells the media that climate data should only be compared from the exact same weather station, to avoid data contamination caused by siting differences.
However, it’s not advice that NIWA follows itself (see photos). It turns out that when Met Service/NIWA publishes climate “records” to the media and the public, it is not bothering to ensure the records come from the exact same site.
NIWA publishes a fine print disclaimer in its monthly records, which reads: “The rankings (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc) in Tables 1 to 11 are relative to climate data from a group of nearby stations, some of which may no longer be operating. The current climate value is compared against all values from any member of the group, without any regard for homogeneity between one station’s record and another. This approach is used because of the practical limitations of performing homogeneity checks in real-time.”
In plain English, NIWA cherrypicks climate data records without correcting for site differences, for the purpose of influencing the public conversation around climate change.
Not to put too fine a point on it, you – the public – are being played and Met Service/NIWA is using the mainstream media as their useful idiots to deceive you.
Once again, I’m sorry I fell for NIWA’s deception. Usually I don’t, and I thought surely with a tragedy unfolding they wouldn’t lie. But as we now see, they have, and in doing so they have embarrassed New Zealand by publishing disinformation about an event now in a world media spotlight.
So, the true position is that no, this week’s rainfall did NOT break Tauranga’s deluge record of 347mm set in 2005. Not even close. At 274mm this week, it was 73mm LOWER.
That means Mauao has experienced much more intense rainfall in the past that didn’t result in a landslide on the motorcamp. What was different this time? Some are pointing to a 2023 decision to cut down exotic trees like oak and chestnut that probably helped strengthen the hillside. That decision was made with the iwi trust that jointly administers the maunga. Both the council and the iwi trust have promised a full independent investigation into decisions and events leading up to this.
But social media users need to keep the media, council and iwi trust honest: as of right now, the argument can no longer be raised as a defence that the mountain collapsed because it drowned in Tauranga’s highest ever rainfall. We now know that isn’t true. The mount has suffered worse rainfalls.
If the legacy media have a shred of integrity they’ll begin to ask hard questions of Met Service/NIWA and of its minister Shane Reti and Prime Minister Chris Luxon. I’m sure social media users will bring this all to their attention.
NIWA has been caught lying once too often. In this case there’s a real risk that the lie will be incorporated into the official inquiry and become a scapegoat that authorities attempt to hide behind.
So, if you agree that the investigation into this tragedy MUST have a real understanding of the actual rainfall records, then please share this post far and wide. Every thinking New Zealander needs to know.
For the sake of completeness, Met Service/NIWA claimed that Whitianga experienced a rainfall record as well, at 247mm in 24 hours. This was not true either. In 1947 Whitianga suffered a 279mm deluge causing major flooding damage.
If the New Zealand climate agencies can’t publish accurate data, then they need to be investigated as well.
That is Ian Wishart’s bad
He took a position to NOT recognise NIWA as persistent liars and a highly dishonest mob.
Why would one ever let up on that?
It would be like assuming gravity decides to not work for a couple of hours
These things don’t happen
and NIWA will never stop spreading disinformation.
They just get worse every year coz no-one thrashed their botties.
Don’t Trust NOAA either. Trump cut their funding last year for this reason.
As as Mr. Ed says check in every day to YSB
I dont wan tto miss a thing 🎵🎵🎵
I mentioned on here the other day
The top half North Island, East coast incl Gisborne , Tauranga, Coromandel were hammered by Easterlies from 2002 to 2005 with multiple high rainfall events in each of those years .
often 3 bad floods a year at that time .
Slips and flooding in Tauranga .
Matata basically wiped out
AI
On 18 May 2005, a band of extremely heavy rain passed over Matata. During a 90-minute period 124mm rainfall was recorded, and a total of 300mm rainfall was recorded over the 24-hour period.

The time has come for NIWA to be dismantled & its science handed back to real scientists. Its report writers & researchers would be better employed by Mills & Boon.
The minister of skience is Shan
me Reti.We have seen what a limp wristed Minister he is in anything he is involved in.
weaker than a heart patient undergoing a triple bypass.
Still, s’pose it is better to have that than Crusher Jude who was the Minister of Skience (why just why ?? ) in 2024.
I did a project with a team within NIWA many years ago now.
I tried to hint neutrally at climate change science and what NIWA & the media stated (not stating my position).
It was an attempt to start a conversation over lunch. That team did not want to discuss it all. In fact, the lead scientist was rather embarrassed by it all.
So, I suspect a bunch of them don’t believe in the hysteria within NIWA. They’ll not speak out for fear of losing their jobs.
NIWA did good work 40 years ago when it came to sorting the fish sticks for fish licences
They did real science then
World class.
then the slack arse wankers moved in and took over
sound familiar
the march through the institutions from 1990
and now they have taken over the Met Service
so
the joint is doomed to less than mediocrity .
That is probably a position shared by many employees of organisations that have been hijacked by zealots with agendas. Whilst I appreciate the need to service the mortgage & pay the grocery bill I feel little other than contempt for those who sacrifice their ‘professional’ principles so readily.
Eg. Doctors promoting Comirnaty, meteorologists supporting climate change & teachers pushing Maori supremacy.

VK as an expert in farcebook can you tell me whether it is normal for posts to suddenly disappear from your feed. The post from Ian Wishart I copied above and 2 others one yesterday and another this morning just disappeared, one while still open. All were council and/or iwi critical regarding the Mount situation. Is this farcebook censoring or is it just me being a complete novice on farcebook?
I don’t use FB but I’ve also noted with UT when watching ‘controversial’ topics or hosts that the sound is cut. Reloading and ff will fix it, or at least until it’s triggered again by certain words?
Buffering.
It happens. The feeds change all the time. If you copy the link, then you can go back and find it. I often copy them to a Word page or notebook for later if it’s something I want to go back and read.
The other thing to do is share it to your own page. Then you can scroll down and find it.
We did in the covid years find out the NZ Internal Affairs Department had a direct portal into Face Book, that was used as Ardern said being face book policy.
Another way is probably other face book members complaining can gain activation to get certain things wiped.
I have noticed quite an increase on Youtube, afterwatching a vid, later wanting to link back to it & it is gone.

Te Araroa evacuations after East Coast rain ‘worse than Gabrielle’, according to locals – NZ Herald
An indication in the article of lack of contingency planning, sense of helplessness, victimhood, and entitlement:
“Our people need help,” the local said.
“Choppers are flying overhead but none are stopping or delivering supplies such as petrol, food and medicines. We need kai, we need our supplies.”
(You mean you hadn’t prepared? Te Araroa is on a river flat where two major rivers run to the sea. These places are flood plains.)
They are busy ferring the bosses and jurnos!
Yet one of the women cooking up a storm in the marae on the same video said with a big smile, “locals are dropping off food, we’re good”
Were I in their situation I’d probably be bitching too. There’s two hundred people in Te Araroa & surrounds so after five days supplies would be getting a bit stretched. Then there’s the one I’d be doing the dance of the fiery arseholes about. Somehow they’ve managed to get people in to red sticker houses but no one to fix communications or open roads.
Compliance has wings. Other services walk!
The road was to be opened today although restricted to every half an hour so fixing the road could continue as well.
Bit of over egging to reporters possibly.
If the roads are closed who needs petrol? Just more wanting free stuff from the taxpayers
What is the difference between “spreading misinformation” and asking questions arising from critical thinking?
easy osen, labelling it misinformation means you dont have to actually address it and answer uncomfortable questions.
its a more polite version of a leftist screaming wracist to shut down a debate.
Depends on “who”, pollie uses a square mouth shovel!
Luxon makes himself part of the problem. Who advises him? – no doubt the same person who thought it’d be a good idea to pose his family in their Xmas jammies.
How can he dismiss it as misinformation when even the council at the time noted that removing the trees would increase risk of slip.
And how is pointing this out “racist”. The man’s an idiot.
“Prime Minister Christopher Luxon says he is aware of “misinformation” being spread following the Mount Maunganui landslide and is calling on people to “keep it to themselves”.
Luxon spoke to media this morning during a visit to a local community centre, which has been erected to support residents and to provide a space where goods could be dropped off.
Earlier, the PM participated in a blessing at the landslide site alongside families of the six missing people and later had meetings with family members, before visiting the centre.
Asked if he had been aware of racist rhetoric being spread, Luxon acknowledged that promotion of mistruths was not uncommon following natural disasters.
“I’m aware there’s a lot of misinformation and stuff going on out there, there always is in circumstances like this.
“Some members of the public have speculated whether the removal of trees on Mauao in recent years for the protection of culturally significant sites and for restoration purposes contributed to last week’s slip. Mauao is co-managed by the local council and iwi groups.”
He is kinda correct. Lots of misinformation and darkies spouting for with rubbish.
As with these things time creates more stuff being said.
Now there an argument over a phone call. Problen is the first one wasn’t by any of the arguing parties.
“How can he dismiss it as misinformation when even the council at the time noted that removing the trees would increase risk of slip.
And how is pointing this out ‘racist’.”
Ironically, the decision to remove foreign trees was driven by racism, i.e., the xenophobic desire to purge one’s land from “foreign” contamination.
I’ll repeat myself. First, they eliminate the foreign trees, and then they eliminate the foreign people. Finally, they eliminate the foreign ways of thinking.
Unfortunately, the drive for “purity” knows no bounds. Are you “Maori” enough? Don’t you have a little too much foreign blood in your veins? This approach never ends well.
Luxon must use the same advisors as Starmer. Luxon obviously believes that the public are all too stupid to believe our own eyes or even listen/speculate the possibilities.
He apparently believes his own bullshit with the ability to announce already where the blame will not land.
Thanks Saggy.
So Luxon continues to push a pile of “Mayo” shit up hill.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360929697/pm-decries-spread-racist-misinformation-after-landslide

One cannot do both and remain sane. If you could, you would be a Liarbour voter. Ask Sooty, he’s just made a big reveal above
When you ‘ask questions arising from critical thinking’ no-one takes any notice & the issue can be safely ignored, then buried. When you ‘spread misinformation’ you’re undermining the totally misplaced confidence & trust that the great unwashed place in those who “know better”.
I will never take anything a politician says is the truth as being true. After the bitch said “we are your only source of the truth”, nothing will convince me otherwise. Nude nut is trying to do a Cindy. Someone should advise him to wear a tea towel.

A good article by Ian Wishart in the Centrist which explains the situation at the Mount very well. Hint it seems that the removal of pohutakawas directly behind the camp between 2017 and 2019 that would appear likely to be responsible for the slip.
https://centrist.nz/ian-wishart-are-climate-activists-ignoring-the-evidence-at-mt-maunganui/
The plot thickens.
“The fire service received a 111 call about a slip near the Mt Maunganui holiday park nearly four hours before a fatal landslide, it can be revealed.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) say they notified the Tauranga City Council and the landowners of the camping ground within minutes.”
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/584999/fenz-warned-of-slip-near-mt-maunganui-camp-almost-4-hours-before-landslide
There’s an argument about that. Time will tell as there is no record of that call.
And thickens even more. (Not paywalled)

That YT channel is a cracker for anyone who enjoys using their arse cheeks to hold onto their chair. The contributor, one Bradley White, has many videos depicting West Coast bar crossings but IMHO the best would be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q3cHJyomlo
This one shows two Riverton (?) boats taking the Greymouth bar. As I recall the harbour master had closed the bar but the skippers decided to head in for a few jugs of the healing waters & bugger his advice. The crew of the first & smaller fishing vessel were a father & son team. His wife called him mad & he faced some Maritime NZ penalty & censure.
That is what one calls surfing, with the very heavy duty surfboard.
It is not always the first troublesome wave, which can be a big hit, the time needed to recover, but the 2nd wave arrives so soon after, while one is totally exposed in weakness.
To the observer it seems worst, than being actually on it, well until it is actually totalled.
Also to note, the wash it self may do the totally stripping of clothes too.
From Googles’s teaser (full article is behind a paywall) to https://www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/360936602/mt-maunganui-landslide-should-warnings-have-been-seen:
“The Mauao historic reserve that encompasses the mountain is owned by a trust representing three Tauranga iwi, and co-managed by iwi and Tauranga City Council. However, the holiday park and hot pools lie outside the reserve, and are owned and run by the council and its offshoots.”
According to https://www.tauranga.govt.nz/council/working-with-organisations/council-controlled-organisations Bay Venues Ltd is a company, 100% owned by Tauranga City Council.
The council received multiple warnings that the landslide was imminent that morning. From today’s Herald:
“The Tauranga City Council has corrected a claim made by its chief executive, revealing contact centre staff did receive a 111 call about slips around Mauao hours before a landslide devastated a council-run campground.’
There were council staff on site when the slips occurred. Now we are told that:
#. “Tauranga’s
Head LiarMayor Mahe Drysdale has confirmed an independent review would be launched by the city council into the events leading up to the landslide.’#. ” WorkSafe says it will be examining the organisations that had a “duty of care” for those at the campground hit by a landslide ……”
How is it that I & countless others instinctively & intestinally, before even the first term of reference has been coined, know that?
#. It will be an orchestrated whitewash.
#. No-one of the massive council bureaucracy will be held remotely accountable.
#. Instead of being hung out to dry like the owners of White Island the Maori owners will escape even the mildest of censure.
#. Public freedoms will somehow be curtailed to provide cover for the next fuck up in management.
Worksafe will do the stuff. Its a workplace accident in a PCBU business.
Luxon can explain to Michael Laws why he or anyone shouldn’t have an opinion //
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyZkVn8xkzM
Tauranga Council Are The LAST People Who Should Inquire In The Tragedy
Michael Laws says the LAST people who should inquire into the Mt Maunganui tragedy are the Mayor and Council of Tauranga.
Holding their own inquiry & dictating its term of reference is the only hope they have of getting the preordained answers they need to give them a hope of surviving the outcome of this fiasco.
This article by one ‘Ashley Church’ appeared on my Daily Examiner Facebook page today.
Make of it as you will, but the author seems somewhat ticked off…
National Has Turned Into the Woke Disney We All Avoid – Why I’m Switching to NZ First This Election
’26th January 2026
By Ashley Church
Although I come from a strongly leftwing family I have been a National voter since my first vote, in 1987 – in fact I cast that vote for myself as I was standing for National as their Napier Candidate.
As such, it’s not an exaggeration to say that the National party has been in my blood.
Over the following years I served on branch committees, I chaired campaigns and I spent years inside the party, arguing policy, building organisation, and defending its values. A friend I persuaded to join the Party even went on to become one of NZs best known Cabinet Ministers in the Key Government.
My loyalty wasn’t casual – it was lived – and for a very long time, that loyalty blinded me to what was happening within the Party.
The National Party I loved and worked for believed in things that mattered. It believed in the primacy of the family. In national cohesion. In personal responsibility. In economic discipline not as a slogan, but as a moral position. It believed that the state should be small, restrained, and deeply suspicious of social engineering. It understood that NZ had a unique DNA that made it the greatest nation on earth and that culture mattered because, once a nation loses confidence in who it is, everything else becomes secondary.
That National Party is gone.
It didn’t disappear in a single election or under a single leader. It drifted. Quietly. Relentlessly. Always insisting nothing fundamental had changed.
If you want to understand how this happened, look at Disney.
In 1990, Disney was not just a company. It was a cultural icon. It represented wholesomeness, shared values, social decency, and stories that reinforced the family. You let your children watch Disney because you knew what Disney was.
In 2026, the landscape is very different. Disney is now a network that discerning parents shield their children from. A network that places extreme ideology over the sensibilities of its audience. But while this massive decline in brand value is obvious to us now, the collapse didn’t happen overnight. Disney claimed that it was ‘evolving’. New values were introduced. Old assumptions were questioned. Politics crept in, then activism. Each step was defended as progress. Each concern was dismissed as overreaction.
Now viewers are walking away in droves, even as Disney executives insist that it’s still the same company.
It isn’t.
And neither is National.
For years, I told myself that the changes were superficial. That the core was intact. That this was about tone, presentation, or tactical compromise. But that explanation no longer holds.
Why? Because, while the address remained the same, somebody else moved into the house.
The National caucus in 2026 is nothing like the National Caucus of the 90s or even the early 2000s. This Caucus hasn’t abandoned the values of the old National Party – it never held them. This Caucus believes in the so-called ‘progressive’ policies that we would once have associated with semi-extreme leftwing movements. Not just tolerates them: believes in them; endorses them; is determined to implement them.
A rollcall of these ideas reads like a Policy wish list for the old left. Ideas about ‘identity’ that promote mythology and fracture society rather than bind it. Ideas about ‘equality’ that destroy the idea of ‘one kiwi, one vote’ and require unequal treatment. Ideas about speech that prioritise protection from ‘hurt feelings’ over the right to free expression of views. Ideas about culture that treat national identity as something to be apologised for, diluted, or dismantled.
These ideas are not harmless. Across the Western world, they are destroying social bonds, corroding trust in institutions, and platforming hatred through the vilification of specific groups.
And once a caucus believes these things, it cannot undo them.
This is why National will not change course. It can’t. Why? because you can’t vote out a worldview that has already captured the party internally.
That is why the election of 2023 now feels like a broken promise.
National was elected with a mandate to pull the country back from the brink. Voters were not asking for refinement. They were demanding reversal. They wanted ideological frameworks dismantled, not rebranded. They wanted institutions reclaimed, not politely nudged. They wanted courage.
Instead, National doubled down on too much of what it inherited.
There has been no serious action on the bias embedded in state owned media, despite said bias being patently obvious to all but the most oblivious. The cultural assumptions baked into the public service remain largely untouched. The architecture of progressive policy has been preserved, with only the rhetoric softened in the lame hope that we won’t notice.
The anger this has generated amongst traditional National voters is real, and it is deep.
To be clear – this isn’t rage for its own sake. It is the anger of people who feel tricked. People who voted for change and got more of the same. People who believed the country would be pulled back onto solid ground and instead watched it settle more comfortably into the very ideas that they rejected.
That anger has attached itself to Chris Luxon. Not because he is uniquely culpable, but because he has become the face of inaction. A decent man fronting a caucus that no longer shares the instincts of the people who elected it.
And that is where the real discomfort begins.
Because once you accept that National is no longer the vessel for the values it once championed, you are forced to ask an unavoidable question: If you still believe in those values, where do you go?
And that brings me to New Zealand First. New Zealand First, today, is the National of the 1990s. In the 1990s, National was the party that drew the line. That said this far and no further. In 2026, that Party is NZ First and National has moved the line several miles further south.
I don’t agree with everything that New Zealand First stands for. I never have. But I recognise, in it, something that I no longer see in National.
A willingness to say no. A refusal to bow automatically to fashionable ideology. An insistence that national identity matters. A focus on the family as the basis of society. A belief that social cohesion is not an optional extra, but the foundation of everything else.
Everything that National used to stand for, but no longer does.
And here is the part that should put minds at ease.
There is no risk in voting New Zealand First in 2026. The Party is already polling in the teens – so strengthening it does not risk changing the government. Instead, it changes the balance within a new coalition and changes the weighting of the values which are amplified. More of what we want – less of what we don’t.
A stronger NZ First means a coalition where traditional values inform policy again. Where so-called progressive assumptions are challenged rather than absorbed. Where the country’s direction is determined by the voters – not those within the governing party’s caucus.
A New Zealand First with 20% of the vote could bring about real change – not just policy scraps on the sidelines.
If you believe in the values of the National Party then, in 2026, vote for the Party that best exemplifies them – NZ First – because sometimes the hardest political decision is not changing your beliefs:
It is admitting that the party you support has already changed theirs…..’
I don’t agree with everything that New Zealand First stands for. I never have. But I recognise, in it, something that I no longer see in National.

Winston Peters cardbox sign of “NO” being no. ….. yeah right ….
Bought by the “fashionable ideology” of Ardern’s “wellbeing” & “kindness” to be in Cabinet to sign off on UN Global Migration Pact which is empowered to censor any issue on migration.
With a nice baubled Cabinet sign off on for government to bring into action the UNDRIP in the He Puapua Report into NZ.
While Shane Jones looked to spend the slush fund of $3 billion in the Provincial Fund. …. yeahh right. …..
Principles, nothing changed in any Waitangi Treaty principles, whilst stopping ACT’s Treaty of Waitangi Principles Bill, and so uncertain on the Regulatory Bill.
So what does NZFirst really bring to the table ????????
problem is that this round winnie could go with labour.
someone needs to nail winnie down pre election on if he would go with labour if AFTER the election they rolled chipkins as part of negotiations.
mind you if it act wasnt in the picture we’re probably better off with lab/nzf then nat/nzf.
last election labour voters stayed home, i think this time round itll be disappointed nat voters that wont bother turning up.
Nail that slimey bastard.
you could glue his body to a tombstone and he would go their somehow if it suited him.
It might be better to nail down all the other NZfirst MP’s. They will have more to lose than their leader.
lol, how cute. you guys think nzf mps have a say in anything.
They could have up to 20 MP’s this time so that will be a big incentive for those other ones to have their say.
20 mps but 17 or 18 nobodies that have no power, no say and are just a bargaining chip and house votes.
challenge winnie, question him on anything or make him look bad and bye bye. your vax nutter bitch didnt last long, didnt fit in and shut up so off she fucked.
