It’s a smart move by the US to dismantle oil supplies to China (via Iran, Russia, and Venezuela). Might as well sort out the Cubans at the same time. If you grab them by the oil supply, diplomacy will follow.

Our frigates are under gunned for that role. They couldn’t stop a missile and would struggle to stop an airborne or seaborne drone. They were never kited out adequately when they were built and subsequent governments never retrofitted them. Sending them is like sending a dive/survey ship to Samoa with a DEI captain.
Actually,a number of years ago while sailing into Auckland Harbour, I saw a Phalanx radar controlled gatling gun on one of our frigates. I helped develop that system while working for General Dynamics in California. That sucker has demonstrated the ability to shoot a bullet with a bullet.

The USA may be capable of winning a war but they have a bad track record of exiting victories.
