Well golly, despite being attacked by an atmospheric river and hundreds of red warnings and life threatening events we have managed to survive another night. I put our miraculous survival down to the fact that I put a teddy bear in the window and sing waiatas every time there is a weather warning. Be kind and think of the children.
As one with extensive experience in the world of journalistic verbiage & histrionics can you rank an “atmospheric river” against an “impactful multi-hazard event”.
Don’t know about that but in the last half hour or so things have really ramped up. Our cubic metre waste management bin sailed past down the driveway about 10 minutes ago. It can stay where ever it lands till the weather breaks.
Ever since I read many years ago that Mandela would make his first wife sit in the living room while he entertained other women in the bedroom, and then expect her to provide tea and cake afterwards, my thoughts were, she was weak and he was a bully. He has had 3 others who went nowhere Key NZ First Women MPs:
Jenny Marcroft: Served as an MP for NZ First in the 52nd Parliament (2017–2020).
Tracey Martin: A prominent NZ First MP, serving from 2011 to 2020, and held Cabinet positions in the coalition government.
Barbara Stewart: Long-serving NZ First list MP over several terms (2002–2008, 2011–2017).
Pia Smith: Also served as a list MP for the party.
looks like we may finally get a lil sprinkle of rain for once, quite dry down this way now. only 20 odd mm forecast so we might get half that if we’re lucky.
Yesterday, The Post newspaper published a story about a survey commissioned by Gun Control New Zealand. The survey claimed, among other things, that a majority of firearm owners support restrictions on the number of firearms someone can own.
For clarity, we will NOT be doing that, and the survey’s findings are rubbish. Here’s the statement my office provided to the journalist:
“A survey with methodology this poor is not even worth reporting on.
There are only about 220,000 licensed firearms owners in New Zealand, yet this survey purports to represent the views of more than 388,000 firearms owners. There is no credibility to these results and it raises serious questions about the methodology, including how the data was collected, weighted, and extrapolated.
It is also concerning that respondents appear to have been primed with leading statements before being asked for their views. This looks less like an attempt to measure genuine public sentiment and more like an attempt by a lobby group to manufacture a headline.
The Government is strengthening New Zealand’s firearm laws, including by introducing tougher penalties for those who break the law, banning gang members from holding firearm licences, and modernising the law to address emerging risks like 3D-printed weapons.
At the same time, we are making compliance easier for licensed firearm owners through sensible changes that reduce unnecessary regulatory burden without undermining public safety.
Our focus is where it should be – keeping firearms out of criminals’ hands, while respecting licenced owners.”
I note that the name Kellie Jay Keen on the video, otherwise known as Posie Parker who was welcomed warmly into NZ with a jar of tomato soup by a man dressed as a woman.

I’m getting sick of this “underinvestment” argument BS. They just cannot maintain anything, that’s most of the problem.
I remember reading, when all this really got going a few years back, there was an article about a guy whose job in Upper Hutt , for 40 years, was going around fixing leaks when the first appeared. He did on his own. Now you have teams of “phone watchers” going around and they cannot do it because of their low productivity.
That’s the waste water collection that currently discharges raw untreated sewage into Cook Strait because the Greens diverted the funds needed to properly update it to cycle lanes.

didnt see wtf the fuss was about tbh, certainly didnt live up to the hype thats for sure.
Agreed. I sat through the first -The Fellowship of the Ring. It was far too long – 3 hours! – with endless tiresome special effects. I won’t go near any of the others.
THE DIESEL PROBLEM
But that may be in imminent threat. Australia runs on subsidised diesel, as Bloomberg points out. Their calculations show they consume 7.7 barrels per person per year. Seriously. That is more than 1200 liters per person. Much of that keeps ‘the outback’ in touch with the cities. And now they are running out. Could get serious very quickly. In New Zealand our consumption is 740 liters/person per year. Still serious, about the same as the US or Germany on a per capita basis, way more than say Japan at about half our per capita rate. But even Japan faces severe effects. Those diesel subsidies in Australia now total AU$11 bln, much of it to miners who are not incentivised to be energy efficient.
What the F”s all this? Just because I porked all ya wifes doesnt mean ya can poke the borax! Only one was any good and she shall remain a secret. eh nasska 😜
A ‘globally catastrophic’ super El Nino could form by spring
A rare super El Niño could form later this year, which could result in “globally catastrophic” extreme weather and a spike in global temperatures lasting into 2027.
An El Nino typically associated with a hot, dry spring for Australia, is likely to form towards the end of winter, international forecasting agencies suggest.
European models suggest a 20-25 per cent chance of it being an intense event, known as a super or very strong El Niño, which has only occurred three times since 1980 and each time was followed by a year of record-breaking heat globally.
UNSW Scientia Professor Matthew England, a climate scientist specialising in oceanic modelling, said there was a significant anomaly of warm water moving to the eastern Pacific Ocean that could lead to a super El Niño, though it was not certain.
“It would be a globally catastrophic event if it’s a super El Nino because we know that those super El Ninos can bring horrendous flooding rains to Latin America, severe drought and bushfire to Australia, Indonesia, and parts of Asia, and it even teleconnects to Antarctica … and can lead to more rapid rates of ice shelf melt,” England said.
“It’s a global phenomenon, it’s extreme in magnitude in terms of how far it reaches, and the amount it changes our climate patterns, and it costs us deeply because there are disruptions to what we do, everything from fisheries to heat extremes to flooding, rains and drought.”
Well, the weather has turned, but I managed to get out onto the streets of Roskill South again at the end of the day yesterday. A warm welcome from locals on the doorstep, but sad to see the ongoing neglect from National with huge tracts of land sitting there growing grass and wilding pines!
The house behind me is the house from the movie “Number Two”. I advocated for it to be retained amongst the new development as a reminder of our local history, but like so much else under this government, it’s been left to rot while people are in need of a place to live. A real symbol of their neglect. I will be fighting for Roskill to once again get homes built for local families.
scum media once again are disappointed fuel shipments are continuing to head to lil old nz.
so since the cant really do much about that stuffed have taken it upon themselves to make a bunch of fuel gauges in which i assume theyve created the coloured levels at which they want the sheep to panic.
to add a bit more effect to it the needles flicker and wobble around a bit, going off their colouring 40days (which is rather high tbh) is when the danger colours start, and 35 and less is i assume going to become some sortve apocalyptic event.
lets be honest, the govt arent going to drive the response and set the limits at when the govt makes any moves its gunna be the fucking media, the same as the fucking bullshit through covid.
can see it now.
Yup fuck them, and any podiums of truth or any “fuel stages” Too much like covid. Next they will be insisting on masks at petrol stations, Petrol passports and rationing stamps. Meantime oil is moving around the world exactly as it was except for one strait south of a shit hole cuntry. The red ships are just tankers, filetered everything else out,

A judiciary does not have to mirror public opinion. But it must understand that reasonable disagreement exists. It must not convey the impression that contested constitutional questions are so settled that contrary views deserve rebuke rather than response.
Because once we accept that some ideas have “gone too far” simply because we believe them wrong, the ground shifts beneath all of us.
Today it is a speech about tikanga. Tomorrow it will be another contentious issue. The instinct to shut down rather than engage does not remain confined to politics. It seeps into universities, workplaces and public institutions. It replaces dialogue with denunciation.
Tolerance is not tested when we agree. It is tested when we hear something that irritates us, challenges us or offends our sensibilities – and we allow it to be said anyway.
The Judicial Conduct Panel will determine whether Judge Aitken’s behaviour met the standard required of her office. But whatever its conclusion, the rest of us would do well to examine a broader habit that is taking hold.

Got one from my neighbor when he buggered off to OZ. I think it can stop 7.62 Nato rounds. Weighs a fucking ton. Don’t know how soldiers move in them. Might wear it to school tomorrow for shits and giggles. Anyway I hope the cunt that stabbed the teacher gets charged with attempted murder.
Back in my school days the major risk to the health…

As if there isn’t enough shit around Wellington already, it seems Sir Pete is busy producing The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.
Gawd – can’t wait for more stupid statues and kids’ mobiles at the airport.
Great, another overly long, tiresome attempt to extract even more money from the Lord of the Rings. Tolkien would not be impressed.
I hope it’s a massive failure.
people watch that shit? omg i tried to watch lotr and thought it was the most shittest movie in the world.
didnt see wtf the fuss was about tbh, certainly didnt live up to the hype thats for sure.
Agreed. I sat through the first -The Fellowship of the Ring. It was far too long – 3 hours! – with endless tiresome special effects. I won’t go near any of the others.
i think i made it a bit over an hour and left, my brother stayed and endured the torture.
Another bad ruling from another scum jodge:

Paywalled!
don’t think so.
The banner “Get unlimited access for just $1.99 your first month” suggests that a paywall exists.
hunty will be pissed.
He just might have to wear his Makintosh to the beach tomorow.
Tasman could see a significant 300mm of rain in the next dayhttps://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360956568/tasman-could-see-significant-300mm-rain-next-day
According to windy.com about 90mm accumulating between now and Monday 12am. 300mm? Crap.
Being an old tosser, he would wear a old gabardine coat. You know, the type frank spencer wore.
Can anyone confirm reports that floodwaters are likely to reach the level of the glory hole in the wall of the Tahuna Beach men’s toilets? 🙂

What the F”s all this? Just because I porked all ya wifes doesnt mean ya can poke the borax! Only one was any good and she shall remain a secret. eh nasska 😜
Just to cheer y’up.
UNSW Scientia Professor Matthew England, a climate scientist specialising in oceanic modelling, said there was a significant anomaly of warm water moving to the eastern Pacific Ocean that could lead to a super El Niño, though it was not certain.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/world-news/360956074/globally-catastrophic-super-el-nino-could-form-spring
Bring it on. “Horrendous flooding rains”???
“High rainfall resulting in flooding” I suppose just doesn’t evoke enough panic. Full of exaggeration and fear porn.
a globally catastrophic event
global phenomenon, it’s extreme in magnitude
it costs us deeply
Ahhh Fuck Off. It’s changeable weather, it happens and we recover . Because of better forecasting ( supposedly) we can prepare and mitigate.
And its only about a 25% probability…..
Any kind of a decent summer would be welcome.
And the same old circus continues… 🤡🤡🤡🤡

The Slime is Back
Well, the weather has turned, but I managed to get out onto the streets of Roskill South again at the end of the day yesterday.

The red ships are just tankers, filetered everything else out,

i find it hilarious that plunket bleats on how against cancel culture he is yet here he is engaging in and encouraging cancel culture not just to hurt the guys business but to the degree of deportation.
yea the guys refugee claims do sound a bit dodge but to be fair i bet 99% of refugees here are very questionable aswell. this guys problem is he dosent support the current thing and for sean its cuz the guy is likely a jew hater.
Golriz Grabandrun was also an Iranian refugee. Lest we forget.
Maybe that’s an argument for deportation…..
