We might need to lean how to use the OIA system. Ally Cook does it very well
Aly Cook gets yet another little bombshell OIA .. investigating as to who exactly called for the information on risk of myocarditis vs extended dosing be removed from public communication (the August 17 TAG meeting), then who? decided to redact that they took this action with safely information. Todays OIA show that this decision was most likely made by what was referred to as the “Vaccine Ministers” who were in a zoom meeting with members of TAG (Technical Advisory Group ) on the Friday 13th of July, 2021 . Aly has now asked for a copy of the zoom video recorded meeting and the transcript .
On August 13, 2021, the COVID-19 Ministerial Group (often referred to as the “COVID-19 Ministers”) consisted of a core set of senior Cabinet members who had been delegated the authority to make rapid decisions regarding Alert Levels, vaccine rollout, and border settings. (we presume this is what Ian Towns refers to in his correspondence, this is what he means by “Vaccine Ministers”
We await the next OIA to know who within that meeting requested that Safety information around dangers of myocarditis in the 12 to 17 age group be removed from public communication.
A reminder … At that time—just four days before New Zealand entered the nationwide Delta variant lockdown—the group included:
The Core Decision-Makers
Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern: Prime Minister (Chair)
Hon Grant Robertson: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance
Hon Chris Hipkins: Minister for COVID-19 Response and Minister of Education
Hon Andrew Little: Minister of Health
Hon Dr. Ayesha Verrall: Associate Minister of Health (Public Health)
Hon Peeni Henare: Associate Minister of Health (Māori Health)
Hon Carmel Sepuloni: Minister for Social Development and Employment

what while last longer?…
treaty greivance or butthurt vax greivance?
i can just imagine decendants of butthurt vax nutters still banging on about this shit in 180yrs. theyre even worse than the 2% maori dna folk bleating on about ti tiriti as most of the rabbid vax nutters had zero % vaccine yet they still have a big scream and cry about it.
I can just imagine decendants of butthurt vax nutters still banging on about this shit in 180yrs.
At least there will be descendants of butthurt vax nutters will still be around in greater quantites per million, per million than descendants of vax victims in 180 years.
Birth rates are dropping, and USA has had the lowest year on record.
All thanks to the Covid mRNA DNA altering jab, and most likely the prior flu jabs.
At the beginning of the rollout, several medical professionals I know, said they had great fears for the future of humanity as the mRNA was attacked reproductive organs in the young, as was predicted overseas, and they were immediately starting to see this in NZ, starting with bleeding issues in young women patients.
any proof its due to the vax or just more biased crap from NZs worst scientist?
income, porn, lonliness epidemic, social media/dating apps, abortion etc are all contributing factors.
youre an utter moron
Worst scientist – Michael Baker? Siouxsie Wiles? Shaun Hendy? So many choices…

The Road to $10 Gasoline
Trump really only has three options with regard to the war in Iran.
He can declare victory and go home. That’s a nice move, but it will certainly be viewed as a defeat. Iran could continue the war (so could Israel) and would control the Strait of Hormuz. Energy prices would remain high and Persian Gulf supplies would be scarce except for friends of Iran like China and India. Trump would be raked over the coals by traditional media. So, he won’t do this.
The second option is to keep bombing and wait for regime change in Iran. That’s also a losing strategy. It’s already clear there will not be regime change. The Iranian regime may be theocratic and brutal, but the people are more united because of the U.S. attack and there are no signs of any popular uprising. That strategy is a waste of time and a waste of bombs.
The third course is escalation. That’s exactly what Trump is doing.
Iran recently announced they were setting up a toll booth at the Strait of Hormuz. Only vessels that were approved by Iran could exit or enter. And those vessels had to pay a toll charge of $2 million per vessel or $1 per barrel of oil depending on the nature of the cargo and whether the vessel was full or empty.
The ability of the U.S. Navy to escort vessels and clear the Strait is limited. We did this in 1987 during the so-called tanker war, but there were no drones or Iranian missile threats then. Today, the U.S. Navy won’t actively escort vessels through the Strait because the risk of losing a ship is too great.
Instead, Trump is escalating. He’s letting Iran set up their toll booth, but he’s implementing his own naval blockade further out to sea.
If a vessel makes it through the Strait (with Iranian permission), it will be seized by the U.S. Navy using satellite imaging and GPS technology. At that point, the U.S. will have the oil and can direct it wherever it wants.
There’s no country in the world that can run that gauntlet. If you’re a friend of Iran, the U.S. Navy will stop you. If you’re a friend of the U.S., Iran won’t let you out in the first place.
Iran is acting like a Mafia extortionist. The U.S. Navy is acting like Pirates of the Caribbean. Either way, no oil gets through.
Get ready for $10 gas at the pump. Get ready for a global recession. And get ready for more escalation.
It’s the only card Trump has left to play.
Trump is right about now allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons. He should start hitting their oil wells and cut their income.
I don’t see the point. Even if you extrapolated the blockade and were able to prevent anything going in or out of the entire country, effectively putting them under siege, what do you get? Sure they may buckle and sign anything you want them to sign, but they’re just going to turn round and do whatever they want regardless as soon as you turn your back. Unless he can force a regime change, and forcibly put their nuclear aspirations out of action for good, then we haven’t got anywhere. And I can’t see him being able to do either. Meanwhile the rest of the world is going to feel a whole lot of pain.
saggy gets it!
and Ed, thats not for me cuz clearly ive been saying similar. its for ROL, FJA etc who are stuck in maga cult denial… very similar disease to those in nz who still thinks jacinda amazeballs and can do no wrong.
For the umpteenth time- I’m not a “MAGA cultist”.
However, as stated previously – IF the enriched uranium was still a thing, which it likely was, then I support any effort to destroy it and the ability to produce more. If that has serious short to medium term consequences, I don’t give a flying fuck.
There are also other benefits of the action which have been well covered.
The actual issue, which you’ve failed to grasp, has been decades of appeasement of the religious nutcake Iranians.
why not destroy israels illegal nukes aswell then?
Because Israel, for all their faults, hasn’t threatened terrorism on the 🇺🇸 USA “Big Satan” and other nations for 47 years, since the nutters captured the Persians of Iran.
I guess being alive to live through the horror of that major world event gives some of us a wider perspective.
nah, theyve just terrorised their neighbours.
illegal nukes are illegal nukes, they slam iran for not letting inspectors in yet israel hasnt let them in either.
I guess living through the horror of that major world attack on Iran gives some of us a wider perspective. It was a very volatile time with kidnapping, loads of plane hijackings and the brutal Entebbe attack.

Stoopids going through manopause. See it before.
nah but the blue balls is really starting to bite now tho!
Bollocks , there will be tissue paper everywhere blowing in the breeze .
Don’t need regime change – though it would be nice. If the IRGC are starved of income and the extortionists successively executed until the risk isn’t worth the reward, they’ll eventually stop.
And if the IRGC leaders can’t pay the lower ranks, expect discontent to grow and become an issue.
The thing with Muslims is that the only thing they understand is brute force and violence. So targeting the IRGC and anyone associated with them will get the best results.
The other smart thing to do would be to make peace with Russia – which should never in its history (except as part of the Soviet Union), have been an enemy, anyway. Blame the British for that.
Agree except the part of blaming the Brits about Russia. The blame lays with NATO and the intelligence services of multiple nations. No Russia, no need for NATO. The politicians have been manipulated into the stance by vested interests. US intelligence has been trying to break up Russia (and Soviet Union before that) for the past 80 odd years. They want to reduce any competitor on the world stage. The Brits only share part of the blame.
Nah, the British are responsible for most of the world’s turmoil in the last 300 years. They even have the IRGC entrenched in London and bank the bastards.
Nothing nice about the English pirates.
The Kurds will have their say.
China can’t get there with shipping, won’t be allowed through, so no more containers of drones and anyway, they have no oil for shipping.
America has plenty of oil for its friends. (hopefully us).
The Sunnis now have no love for the Shiiteheads.
They have ramped up their pipelines to send oil to another port rather than the Karg Island terminal.
Israel will continue to remove the Muslim leaders so they never have the leadership or the money to continue.
Trump reckoned 4-6 weeks.
Nostra reckoned 7 months.
Time to go yet.
Russia will sell more oil
The EU countries can’t afford to prop up Ukraine,
so that’s not far from shutting down, with Zelensky and the Pope on the wrong side.
We shouldn’t forget that the Orthodox churches were in Jerusalem along with the Jews, well before the catholics and their spawn, the Muslims.
Peace by Xmas
China was buying most of the crude out of Iran. The Chinese have stopped all exports of petroleum products. Japan is also concerned.
Let’s fire up the nuclear reactors!
the big questions.
Was Winston in that group?
Will they get charged with causing harm?
Who in the police will have the balls to look at the evidence and call for more.
Yep, I’m sure Winston would be calling for accountability if he was part of the group that did that. He’s not senile.
It is supposedly possible to have a minister charged with manslaughter.
https://www.dpmc.govt.nz/our-business-units/cabinet-office/supporting-work-cabinet/cabinet-manual/4-ministers-law-and-inquiries/litigation-involving-ministers
‘Proceedings against a Minister personally
4.39 On occasion, Ministers may be sued for acts done while a Minister, but having a more “personal” aspect. For example, a Minister may be sued in defamation arising from the contents of a particular speech or other public statement. Or proceedings may be instituted alleging that a Minister has acted dishonestly or in bad faith. The extent to which a Minister will be personally liable will depend on the law relating to the particular matter.’
Manslaughter is a criminal offense, so being “sued” or not acting dishonestly is not the action. It is being charged with a criminal act.
Being a minister, Queen of England, or the man in the moon does not protect anyone.
It’s all there in our law. And as Official Information Requests are showing, they were advised of the risks, but chose to do it anyway. And even if they weren’t shown, they had a responsibility to find out the actual risks of Covid and the risks of the vaccine. Again it is all there in our laws.
They were examples. Not the sum total of all situations.
But the text demonstrates that ministers enjoy a large degree of protection except in certain circumstances, and even then the bar is extremely high.
Hardly likely to have been in that group as he wasn’t in Parliament in 2021.
oh true. that.
So we can rule that one out.

There is a group of people that have had their brain fried to the point where they want a regime that killed an estimated 40,000 of its own people to win in a conflict against the USA, because President Trump ordered the attacks to prevent a millennial theocratic nation from getting Nuclear weapons. They can’t be taken seriously.
I heard an explanation for TDS:
Due to upheaval in the world people with TDS have mass psychosis caused by FEAR and propaganda by the demorats and official msm news sites (for morons) to legitimise their claim.
Trump is causing all the scary stuff in their lives. The fearful are triggered like villagers gathered together in a walled city with a monster outside causing danger and chaos.
What will “the monster” do next? Why does he act against them? He is unstable, has lost his mind, he’s irrational, we must punish him, we must arrest him or impeach him. Lock him up!
It’s a TDS WORLD 🤡

I’m very concerned about ACT recruiting this Christmas bloke. Who are they going to go for next? How about Chloe or maybe Debs? Not a good move unless you want to alienate half the people who vote for you. I thought Seymour was smarter than that.

Hopes to be able to speak out on things more when in ACT.
Has worked in with David Seymour on property rights, has spoken to Prebbles.
Gay marriage.
Wants to stand in Tamaki, where there are 7 competing ACT contenders.
Learnt alot from all his previous bosses, as Sean teases out on the woke concept.
Nailed the, what is woman question.
Next week will know ACTS decision of who is standing for the seat of Tamaki.
E&OE, in understanding of what is noted down.
Will have to come out much stronger against one of the previous bosses, that is Chris Finlayson. a’la “Burn the Bridge” but then will I believe him???
Or is it a comradely of being in the same camp??
A couple of days ago the NZ Herald on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/106049564684/posts/10163389428829685/ made this comment about James Christmas:
#. “With a deep understanding of Treaty settlements and New Zealand’s constitutional arrangements, Christmas also presents as an ideal candidate to articulate the party’s next attempt at constitutional reform after the failed Treaty Principles Bill, which Christmas’ former mentor Findlayson condemned as divisive.” (bold mine)
On 12 May 2022 Tom Hunter at https://nominister.wordpress.com/2022/05/12/i-guess-this-will-be-my-single-issue-in-2023/ quoted Findlayson thus:
#. “ “I simply say to people, one, there’s a new regime, get with it folks; two, Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
While he says there’s room for robust debate about the co-governance model between the Crown and iwi and hapū, Finlayson’s advice for dealing with the “sour right” behind the racist, resentful rhetoric: “We’ve just got to leave those losers behind and move on. They don’t like tangata whenua. They dream of a world that never was and never could be,” he says. ”
Facts don’t matter. The truth is malleable. The Treaty is a living document.
Never stop an idiot when he proves beyond all doubt that your first assumption is correct.
Whats wrong with him?
He is a Finlayson protégé and an uphill gardener in my electorate. Not getting my vote.
Seymour learnt under the wing of former National MP and ACT leader John Banks.
I didn’t know that. Under Banks’ tutelage he would have learnt the dark arts of duplicity, sanctimony & lying through his teeth.
Info directly from Banksie. Very proud of his protege.
He thinks he’s Christmas
Don’t know but he appears to be a Jack in a Box.
Pop the lid and he leaps out to right all NZ wrongs!
I don’t like administrations that name things with titles that are either flowery emotional or the opposite to the true nature of the item.
For example, calling the Ministry of War the Ministry of Defense.
Take the new walkways being built to link Glen Innes with the Orakei estuary. Instead of an informative English name that everyone can understand, like “The Glen Innes – Orakei Cycleway” the official name is one that nobody can understand: “Te Ara ki Uta Ki Tai.”
If I run this through Google Translate I get: “The Road to the North Sea.” (It’s not a road and it doesn’t lead to the North Sea.”
If Maorification is to be done at all, at least make the name informative. The Glen Innes – Orakei Cycleway would be “Te Ara Pahikara o Glen Innes – Orakei” (according to Google.)
Why have bilingual signage when the last monolingual speaker of Maori died at the start of the last century. New Zealand can be so woke and backwards at times. If this were Japan, Ainu signage would be required all over Hokkaido.
Race (def) noun; a group of people sharing the same culture, history, language, etc
The bilingual signage serves not to unite but to divide. Not one person in NZ is denied the tight to speak, read, learn or study the Maori language. The sign, the heading on the letter from a government dept, the obligatory waiata the casual nga mihi serve as a wedge driven by those who seek division & separatism.
If Maori forced me to learn their language, would they also insist on control of it? Would they ban me from creating new linguistic expressions and slang?
Perhaps Maori wish to “lease” their language to non-Maori. “You have to speak it, but we control it because it is our ‘treasure'”.
Like this newspaper report on the antics of Maori activist Hone Harawira?
#. “In 1979 Harawira was part of He Taua, which confronted drunk University of Auckland engineering students who performed a parody of the “Ka Mate” haka with obscenities painted on their bodies. He Taua responded to the cultural insult, which resulted in the engineering students sustaining several broken bones”.
Probably.
A good example of tikanga, aroha, te ao Maori, etc.
The money go around, and are we able to make some connections?
So who is who’s bitch?
Who can be used as the mafia “hit man”?
It seems to be a bit more on what I mentioned the other day about the arrests, money exchanging in Dubai for Iran.
Now in this vid, the pursuit of the money has now being searched for in Switzerland.
EXPOSED: Trump Names the Hidden War — Britain Has No Cards Left
https://youtu.be/IBxif0k4d-k
12 minutes : April 14th, 2026 : Promethian Updates
Susan Kokinda argues that President Trump has “put the empire on notice” by exposing what she calls a decades-long British-run extortion system centered on the Strait of Hormuz.
She says Trump moved to break the alleged protection racket by undermining Lloyd’s of London’s role in maritime insurance, pushing the U.S. to provide coverage, and enforcing an “all or none” approach to Iran’s oil sales.
Kokinda highlights UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer declining to join an American blockade and claims Britain has lost control of the choke point.
She details financial actions targeting Iranian money flows, including UAE arrests of IRGC-linked money changers, Treasury Secretary Bessent using Patriot Act Section 311 against a Zurich bank, and scrutiny of London-based crypto exchanges and Santander UK.
She cites a UK military chief admitting Britain’s war planning has lapsed since the Cold War and links fuel disruptions and protests to the conflict, concluding Trump has forced a hidden imperial system into the open.

I have sought of noticed that a number of EU countries, notably the UK ignore Iran’s tolling of the Hormuz Straits plus disallow certain countries, but go full on into bat for the IRGC against the USA blockade. ….. hmmm …. plus not declaring IRGC a terrorist organisation, nor considering very valuable real estate owned in London by IRGC elite.
Compare to the USA is finding some IRGC families in the states kicking them out.
But which part fits which Conspiracy theory? the City of London, Lloyds? or the Vatican Bank, the many branches of the Rothchilds Banks, or the Rockefella’s to the 7 sisters, to BlackRock to WEF-UN-WHO, let alone the connections to Putin, CCP & Xi, not to forget the EU & what Ursula Von der Leyen is building.
Not to forget the Jews, to give Jews credit, or to credit Jews. 😃
Free trade. where NZ had easy access as a farm to the British market, (Bothwick & Sons) swept away by the UK & Bothwicks probably adapted to gaining free trade into the EU.
Just like the Vela brothers from NZ, after a series of NZ Pelagic Development companies, Vela seafoods, live very well in Europe running , enjoying their race horse studs
A practical insight of the money systems, one that is has been kicked to touch & then the new system being plugged into by the IRGC.
It sort of picks up some reasons why IRGC seemed to kick over the traces of all of the countries around it.
March 30, 2026 —
….. Dubai was the dollar door. Hormuz is the yuan door.
The war closed one and opened the other.
Neither side planned it that way.

Now this week in April, that shows a bit of the reason for Trump’s blockade.
So it seems the whack a mole, following around in rabbit holes & warrens, with various connections.
So is the USA blockade a winner, or building up a desparate head of steam?
It seems to all revolve around money flows., which were mind boggling large for Iran, even though they were supposedly being sanctioned.
Not forgetting the ones who would be skimming or being paid off.

Lindsay Mitchell: Immigrants pull their weight
Just-released March 2026 ethnic data shows Maori form the largest group of dependent unemployed people.
At the end of March 2026, 48,261 Maori were receiving a Job Seeker-Work Ready benefit (Job Seeker-Health Condition/Disability is a separate category for those considered temporarily unemployed due to illness.) NZ Europeans followed at 43,626. Pacific people occupy third place at 19,005. Asians trail back at 6,840 with Middle Eastern/ Latin American/ African people numbering 2,178.
There is a prevalent school of thought that believes immigrants are heavily welfare-dependent. Apart from Pacific people, that’s wrong.
Most immigrants have relatively high employment levels.
Yes, refugees tend to require welfare initially and sometimes longer. But New Zealand’s refugee quota is fairly small at 1,500 annually.
When it comes to those who could be working, Maori are massively over-represented.
Whilst colonisation continues to be blamed for Maori ‘disadvantage’, every year thousands of immigrants come to New Zealand and make a contribution. Often the cards are stacked against them but they don’t have any useful excuses for failing.
Immigrants pull their weight. And I am thankful for them.
https://www.brashandmitchell.com/…/lindsay-mitchell…
Maori are 15% of population so does that mean every second one is on the dole?
Have the dumb fucks considered that many of the unemployed across all groups are unemployed as a result of his beloved immigrants?
Globalist cunts.
Trump Locks Down the World’s Top Oil Chokepoint with Indonesia Partnership
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth just hosted Indonesia’s Defense Minister at the Pentagon and upgraded ties to a Major Defense Cooperation Partnership. This is smart power in action.
The Strait of Malacca sits right in Indonesia’s backyard and handles more oil traffic than any other chokepoint on Earth, about 23 million barrels per day. That’s ahead of the Strait of Hormuz.
Roughly 80 percent of China’s oil imports flow through these waters, making Beijing heavily dependent on a route it doesn’t control.
While weak administrations let adversaries expand unchecked, the Trump team is securing vital sea lanes through strong alliances with key partners. Indonesia’s strategic location gives it real leverage over this critical passage that feeds Asia’s energy needs.
This move strengthens America’s position, protects global trade routes that matter to us and our allies, and sends a clear signal: the United States is back in the business of strategic dominance.
No more ceding ground to rivals.
Trump is playing chess while others chase headlines, locking in advantages that keep America strong and our enemies sweating. It’s happening.
Do they cut NZ coal coming out of Philippines?
china says get fucked orange man!
grab some popcorn, see if TACO has the balls to start a scrap with china.
hilarious, trumps gunna get made a failed fool of by iran and china. i hope china send warships to guard their fleet, and also send warships to taiwan to play the chicken game with trump, teach the orange fool actions have consequences.
China might not be as big a threat as you think
China’s Military: Superpower or Paper Dragon?
For years, all we’ve heard about the Chinese military is that they are building state-of-the-art weapons systems using high technology and would soon be a military superpower that could challenge the United States for dominance in East Asia and the western Pacific Ocean.
According to this version of events, China was building an aircraft carrier fleet, producing advanced fighter jets and using lasers and AI in ways that would make conventional warfighting obsolete. It was just a matter of time before China invaded Taiwan, dominated Japan and drove the U.S. back to Hawaii.
But what if this is all a façade?
It’s true China is spending billions of dollars on its military, is building new systems and has a huge army. But analysts forget that China has not fought a major war since the Korean War, with the exception of a small border war with Vietnam in 1979.
Almost no one favors war, but unless you fight one from time to time, there’s no assurance that your military even knows how to perform.
Also, China is not a warrior state from a cultural perspective. China is much more oriented to art and commerce in a Confucian frame than it is to war.
Most importantly, what if the Chinese hardware doesn’t work as advertised?
That appears to be the case, at least with regard to a Chinese air defense system sold to Iran. China’s HQ-9B long-range air defense system was purchased by Iran to protect it from U.S. attacks. It failed miserably against the U.S.-Israeli attacks in the past two months.
It was supposed to detect incoming aircraft and missiles and direct anti-aircraft missiles to shoot down the incoming threat. Instead, the systems failed and the U.S. and Israelis blew them up and wiped them out.
This would be a military scandal in any country. But in China, the consequences are worse. Top military leaders in aircraft carrier construction, advanced fighter design and other systems were removed from sight and stripped of their ranks.
What comes next for those officials could be imprisonment, torture or death.
In any case, it’s back to the drawing board for the expensive and critical Chinese weapons systems that have failed.
In the meantime, the burden of proof is on China to prove they are anything more than a paper dragon.
i think the american hardware will shit all over chinas but in a war of attrition of munitions china would come out on top.
if i were china and serious about taiwan then right now is the opportune time while merica is tied to iran. if american navy interferes with chinese shipping i rekon theres good chance china will bite and do something to assert their power, taiwan would be an epic one. they dont even have to take taiwan just freak them out enough to blow up their semiconducter machines and the usa and its military hardware are severely hobbled.
What if the hardware falls apart as do most things made in the People’s Republic of China? China, as Japan before it, displays incredible ability to mass manufacture but there it stalls. Much of its technical knowledge has been stolen from the Yanks who blindly threw their technical & scientific advances away when they outsourced their manufacturing to China. Trump has put the kibosh on that little rort.
Their universities produce pedestrian rote learners; not thinkers. Their standard of quality control in manufacturing is abysmal. They are over reliant on imported raw materials. Cutting corners to improve profits has been raised to an art form.
They do however, produce good, obedient, goose stepping canon fodder in the manner of all authoritarian regimes.
You have never bought Chinese machinery then.
Not surprised that again you don’t know what you are talking about.
You’re the living proof that donkeys fuck!
That’s nice.
There is a lot of very good Chinese equipment that’s available.
You need to get out more from your aged hotel.
A lot of what you think is made elsewhere is made in China these days.
No problem; Albanese & the supportive “Yes” Australians would love the 3rd world flagged oil tankers squeezing past the northern part of Australia.. 😎
Swalwell Sex Scandal Forces Resignation from Congress – Newsom’s Office Now Decides Next Move
Disgraced California Democrat Eric Swalwell resigned from Congress on April 13, 2026, after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct and assault, including claims from former staffers.
The embattled lawmaker, who had been eyeing the governor’s mansion, also suspended his bid for California’s top job amid the firestorm.
Swalwell’s sudden exit leaves his safe Democratic seat vacant, and Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office is already reviewing the situation. Once the resignation is official, Newsom’s team will announce whether to call a costly special election or let the seat sit empty until November.
California taxpayers can expect the usual Sacramento games – more drama, more spending, and another chance for the one-party machine to install a loyalist without real competition. Another day, another Democrat scandal exposing the rot in the Golden State.
We Cannot Trust America: Mark Carney Tells Canadians to Ditch U.S. Wine, Bourbon, and Florida Vacations for a Weak “Buy Canadian” Stunt
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney took the stage at the 2026 Liberal Party convention in Montreal and delivered a clear anti-American message, pushing his “Buy Canadian” agenda while openly declaring distrust in our southern neighbor.
In the speech, Carney urged Canadians to show “solidarity” by making everyday choices against American products. He said it started quietly: “People choosing a wine from the Okanagan over one from California… A family planning a vacation to Prince Edward Island instead of booking flights to Florida.” He even took a swipe at U.S. spirits, asking, “Anyone had any bourbon recently?”
Carney framed these snubs as proof of national strength, boasting about record internal travel and visits to Canadian parks and festivals. He claimed these “small individual acts of solidarity” add up to something bigger, declaring that Canadians are “rediscovering their country” and proving “we are the masters of our destiny.”
He doubled down on government policy too, announcing a new “Buy Canadian” rule where federal spending defaults to Canadian suppliers. Carney added, “The days of our military sending 70 cents of every dollar to the United States are over.” He talked up building “Canada strong” with Canadian steel, aluminum, and lumber, while aiming for $300 billion in new non-U.S. exports over the next decade.
This is classic Liberal weakness dressed up as patriotism. While Carney lectures everyday Canadians to punish American goods and skip U.S. vacations, reports note his own deep personal and financial ties to the United States. Yet he stands before his party and signals that America cannot be trusted or relied upon as a partner.
Conservatives see through it. Strained trade relations under President Trump don’t justify this divisive turn. Real leadership strengthens alliances and economies without turning consumers into political pawns. Carney’s pitch isn’t about building Canada up—it’s about tearing down a vital relationship out of spite. Canadians deserve better than this petty nationalism that hurts wallets and ignores reality.
The Canadians and the U.S. have had some interesting run-ins over time. They nearly had a war over a pig at one point, lol.
Peter Drennan says it’s with genuine disbelief that he’s writing this; NZ’s terrible timezone may now be an AI structural advantage
By Peter Drennan*
If you’ve ever worked from New Zealand with North American or European teams, you know the pain. I spent 10 years in Canada, moved back in 2022, and have maintained contracts with Canadian businesses since. The overlap is thin.
You’re dragging yourself out of bed at 6am for a standup with someone in Toronto who’s mentally halfway out the door. You’re the person requesting a team meeting at 5pm EST, which is a reliable path to unpopularity. You lose an entire working day to the dateline unless you’re willing to pull the oar on a Saturday morning. I’m convinced we have the most inconvenient time zone in the world for working with Western markets.
So it’s with genuine disbelief that I’m writing this: our terrible timezone may now be an AI structural advantage.

Very interesting if you are in the computing world.

Former All Black captain Taine Randell to stand for NZ First in Hawke’s Bay seat
Former All Black Taine Randell will be New Zealand First’s candidate in the Hawke’s Bay electorate of Tukituki.
The Herald understands Randell’s candidacy was set to be announced at a NZ First public meeting in Hastings on Sunday, which was cancelled ahead of Cyclone Vaianu hitting the region.
The Herald has attempted to contact Randell about his candidacy.
Randell, a former student of Hastings school Lindisfarne, captained the All Blacks in 22 of his 51 tests.
He was also a favourite in the south having appeared 77 times for the Highlanders and playing 83 games for the Otago province, leading the team to the first NPC division title in 1998.

He was bloody useless as a captain.
Within 10 to 14 days, Iran won’t be able to store oil and will have permanent long term damage to oil wells for extracting oil. Oil wells perform poorly after you stop the flowing process.
Iran exports oil, but it also imports gasoline and diesel. Iran lacks the ability to refine enough of their own oil into gasoline and diesel. So very soon Iran will be running out of fuel everywhere.
