| A New Chapter for a Timeless Symbol For more than a century, the poppy has been a powerful symbol of remembrance in New Zealand, a simple way for us to honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served our country. Today, we’re proud to introduce a new chapter in that story.  |
This year, the RNZRSA is launching a new sustainable poppy, designed to carry forward the meaning New Zealanders hold so dearly, while reflecting the values we share for the future. Made entirely from paper and fully biodegradable, the new poppy has been thoughtfully created using renewable materials, including fibres recovered from coffee cup waste. It offers a more environmentally responsible way to remember, without losing any of the significance that the poppy represents. Importantly, the poppy remains a gift and is given freely in return for a donation of any size. The Poppy Appeal itself holds a special place in our national story. It is New Zealand’s longest running street appeal, bringing communities together year after year in support of our veterans and their whānau. Every donation helps provide vital support services for those who have served. In 2026, you may notice something a little different when you see our collectors out in your community. Many RSA volunteers will have both the familiar plastic poppy and the new sustainable version available, as we transition to this new design. Whichever poppy you receive, the meaning remains the same. A symbol of remembrance. A mark of gratitude. A connection across generations. As we approach this year’s Poppy Appeal, we invite you to wear your poppy with pride and, if you’re able, make a donation to support New Zealand’s veterans. I am no National lover or Luxon admirer, but there definitely seems a push by the Media in New Zealand to get rid of National and install the Congenital Liar, Christopher Hipkins alongside Labour, the Greens and the Maori Party in National’s place.
I look forward to the day after the Election in November when Thomas Coghlan and the Herald have to report on the Weasel Hipkins, resignation from Labour Leadership after Labour, the Greens and the Maori Party loosing that Election.

I have been seeing her fucking ugly face in the media lately. By christ shes ugly. Ugly inside and out.
The new paper ones are being sold here in Waimate and I have seen in Timaru.
I have been told ex from the Waimate RSA that the reason is that normally (?) all the money goes to Auckland, presumably the head office, for National distribution.
The smaller Associations are objecting to this because they believe they are not getting back “their fair share” and have started producing and selling the new paper ones and will retain all the proceeds.
Can anyone confirm this, anyone from Auckland, are the now paper or the traditional cloth type being sold.
Personally I don’t care too much since they sold out the Intellectually Handicapped making of them and switched to buying from China.
The chinese will pretend the stuff comes from recycled coffee cups but will be bullshitting

Exactly McD and I wonder if the Chinese manufacturers “gifted” them to the RSA or did the RSA have to pay like most commercial transactions?
