The local greedy prick who owns the BP in Taumarunui and the equally greedy Indians from Rotorua who own the Mobil Servo here in the darkest King Country have diesel at close to $4.30 a litre and have been milking the situation as hard as they can.
I have to take the diesel ute to Auckland today, I will be interested to see what the cost of diesel is up that way as I will need to tank up and probably become destitute, however I will wager a dollar to a knobble of goat shit the local greedy prick who owns the BP at Taumarunui and who also owns the BP in Te Kuiti is probably $0.50 a litre less in Te Kuiti even though both are probably filled by the same road tanker.
I doubt any of these charlatans and carpetbaggers who run any of these Servos around the country will want to drop their prices any where near as quick as they were to put them up. Arseholes, the lot of them.

I seem to remember a canadian study in the eighties , they tested you then put you on a crash salad diet for 2 weeks if you cholesterol dropped dramatically it was too high , if there was very little movement that was your baseline . Seemed logical to me.

There has been a lot of discussion lately about the effects of fiscal policy, and now bankers want interest rates to rise again, even though no one is borrowing much. Lot of refinancing is going on, and I suspect that ANZ, which ditched the dairy farmers way back are going to suffer higher costs as the other banks soak up that money. Banks like Rabobank supported farmers when times were tough.
Some are calling for the RBNZ to raise their OCR because they anticipate higher inflation and so on. That, of course, is imported inflation and is also due to the lowering of the value of our dollar.
If we look at the current depressed economy, and it is right now, then why would you want to make that worse?
Which reminds me of a suggestion that Don Brash made some years back, and which is currently happening.
He made the suggestion that the best way to slow the economy and the borrowing was to increase the price of fuel.
Isn’t that just what has happened?
Look at the effect it has had. People have stopped spending. It is exacerbated, of course, by the negative gloom and doom in the press by the saddists that infect that media.

Bloody disgraceful that a State Highway can end up like that after what seems like nothing. Even getting to there, the left lane was completely covered in water at multiple points.

Waitī Waters was named in consultation with mana whenua, with Waitī representing the Matariki star associated with freshwater and the importance of freshwater for supporting life and wellbeing. The name also represents the partnership Councils, and the new company have with the region’s iwi and the commitment to continuing to work together.
Moving forward, the Waitī Waters Board will now work together alongside Councils to establish the new organisation over the next 15 months and transition across Council water services, before it begins operations from 1 July 2027. The transition plan for the next 15 months is set out in the four Councils’ Water Services Delivery Plans submitted to the government last year.

The Tangioio Marae has been vulnerable for years and never did anything about it.

He is absolutely correct. Most of us are so consumed by Trump’s unconventional leadership style that we are blind to his administration’s grand plan. This is happening whether we like it or not; the evidence is clear.
Globalism is now, but a failed experiment, and the international rules-based order is in an advanced state of decay.
There is one question above all we as a country should be contemplating right now – “What will our place be in this emerging new world order?”
New Zealand’s way of life and everything we value will depend on how that question is answered, and the way in which a succession plan is implemented.
New Zealand’s obsession with internal cultural and identity reform has been rendered completely irrelevant by the shifting global geopolitical landscape we so heavily rely on as a trading nation.
An obvious immediate step is to ensure NZ and Australia are positioned in a way to maximise collective strength and bargaining power on the global stage. To the government’s credit, they have made some progress to that end, but need to go even further.
Strengthening the trans-Tasman relationship will buy both countries some time, but beyond that, some difficult questions are going to require timely answers.
Prioritising self-reliance is absolutely vital. The fuel crisis of the past month has given NZ the wake-up call we needed. It is time to accept the new reality and take action. Our nation’s survival depends on it.

The EU’s plan: accept migrants or pay €20,000 per head. Latvia’s answer: keep the invoice.
Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže announced during the annual foreign policy debate in parliament that Latvia will not accept any migrants under the EU Migration and Asylum Pact. She also stated that Latvia will refuse to pay the €20,000 per migrant penalty that the pact imposes on countries that decline to participate in the relocation program.
Latvia has completed its border fence and stopped over 12,000 migrants from crossing into the country. Braže said Latvia is willing to share its border protection experience with other EU members but will not comply with forced redistribution. Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic have taken similar positions.
Southern EU states like Italy, Spain, and Greece support the pact as a way to share the burden. The divide within the bloc continues to grow.
