I asked grok why all a.i models are not the same
No, AI models shouldn’t all be the same — and the differences are a feature, not a bug. Here’s why there are so many distinct models (Grok, Claude, GPT, Gemini, Llama, etc.) in 2026:
1. Different Teams, Different Goals
• AI labs are run by separate companies with competing philosophies:
◦ xAI (Grok): Maximally truth-seeking, less censored, real-time knowledge, humor, curiosity about the universe.
◦ Anthropic (Claude): Safety-first, constitutional principles, helpfulness without harm, deep ethical reasoning.
◦ OpenAI: Broad usefulness + commercial scale (ChatGPT).
◦ Google: Integration with search/products, multimodality.
◦ Meta: Open-source focus (Llama series) for accessibility and research.
• Each team trains on different data mixes, uses different reward systems, and optimizes for different values. This is like car companies: Toyota, Tesla, and Ferrari all make vehicles but prioritize reliability, innovation, or performance differently.
2. Technical Trade-offs (You Can’t Have Everything)
No single model can optimize for all metrics at once. Common trade-offs include:
Priority
What it costs
Example Models Strong Here
Raw Intelligence
Higher cost, slower, more energy
Claude Opus, Grok 4 Heavy
Speed
Slightly less deep reasoning
Grok Fast, Gemini Flash
Context Window
More memory/compute
Grok (large variants), Claude
Safety / Refusals
Can feel overly cautious
Claude
Creativity / Humor
Can be less “safe”
Grok
Cost / Efficiency
Smaller capability
Llama 3.1 8B, Grok mini
Real-time Knowledge
Needs live tools/search
Grok (native X + search)
Larger, smarter models are more expensive to run. Smaller ones are faster and cheaper for everyday use. Specialization beats one-size-fits-all.
3. Different Training Methods & Data
• Architecture tweaks: Most use transformers, but details vary (Mixture-of-Experts, new attention mechanisms, synthetic data, etc.).
• Alignment: How the model is “taught” what’s good/bad — RLHF, Direct Preference Optimization, Constitutional AI — produces noticeably different personalities and behaviors.
• Data: Private datasets, public web, books, code, scientific papers — weighted differently. Some labs emphasize STEM, others multilingual or creative writing.
• Post-training: Fine-tuning for coding, math, role-playing, or enterprise compliance creates specialized variants.
4. Rapid Evolution & Iteration
AI progress is extremely fast. Companies release:
• Base models → Instruct-tuned → Specialized versions (e.g., coding, reasoning, lightweight).
• New versions every few months as they scale compute, improve algorithms, or add capabilities (vision, voice, agents).
Having multiple models creates competition — which accelerates improvement for everyone. If there was only one model, progress would stagnate.
5. Real-World Use Cases
Different jobs need different tools:
• Writing a legal contract or sensitive medical summary → Claude’s caution.
• Breaking news or social media trends → Grok’s real-time edge.
• Running locally on your device → Open-source Llama variants.
• Cheap high-volume tasks → Smaller efficient models.
Bottom Line
If every AI were identical, we’d lose diversity of thought, innovation speed, and the ability to choose what fits your values and needs. The differences you see between Claude and Grok aren’t flaws — they reflect deliberate choices by brilliant teams pursuing different visions of what AI should be.

A new-look RNZ board is likely to oversee major changes but the outgoing chair has hit back strongly at comments by David Seymour; Where’s Maiki Sherman?; ANZ announces new ad agency while Air NZ account up in air; Barry Soper book a best-seller; Journalist withdraws from media awards – unnecessarily, says their employer.
With the Broadcasting Standards Authority destined for the scrapheap, the coalition Government firmly has its sights on the performance of RNZ, with upcoming board changes set to intensify the pressure on its management team.
Without naming RNZ chief executive Paul Thompson, Deputy Prime Minister and Act leader David Seymour told The Platform, “that guy’s got an awful lot to answer for and I suspect that he won’t be answering the call at RNZ for much longer”.
But soon-to-depart RNZ chairman Jim Mather has hit back strongly at any suggestion of Government influence on its operations, reiterating that “editorial independence is fundamental and non‑negotiable”.
Opposition politicians and journalism academics have also criticised Seymour over his comments.
David Seymour’s issues with John Campbell as Morning Report co-host stem partly from past columns that he’s written for TVNZ in which Campbell has criticised the coalition Government.
In one column, days after the coalition deal was signed in 2023, Campbell described Seymour, Winston Peters and Christopher Luxon as empty of ideas.
“I’m not too upset about that. I don’t want to talk to the guy if I don’t have to,” Seymour told Laws.
The problem was, he said, Campbell’s elevation to Morning Report co-host.
“You would hope that people would see the job of being the Morning Report interviewer on what was the most popular radio show until Hosking [Newstalk ZB host Mike Hosking] ate their lunch … you would think it would be such a prestigious position that only people who have absolutely kept the highest level of probity and above politics and only there for the story and interview … it should be the job of a lifetime.
“Anyone who has written the kinds of things that John Campbell has written … sorry mate, I mean if you want to write that stuff you can, but it’s out of the question that you’d get this job.
“Unfortunately, that’s not how the current management of RNZ thinks.”
I see Jackie Blue is quitting the National party to join the opportunities party. Good riddance she was an uber woke waste of space. Her reason for leaving is apparently the pay equity act which was passed last year. Why didn’t she leave then? Trough too comfortable? Between her and Ian Lee’s Galloway TOP look like they’re using the Greens guide to recruitment. Despite what the MSM keep saying over and over endlessly they will sink like a stone come election time.
mentoring? shagging? I suppose the difference is a matter of semantics. I have no idea, just putting it out there….
By the way who is she, Never heard of her….
Such a high profile loss and loosing such an effective and dynamic outstanding forward, brilliant thinker, shaker and visionary like M/s Blue, will devastate National. I do not know how National will recover and this could just be the catalyst for them to slide into total oblivion. Such a loss.//
STUFF: National Party sitting on huge $11 million election year war chest
The National Party has collected more than $11 million in donations since the last election, and is now sitting on a massive election-year war chest which is at least double what any other party has.
According to the Electoral Commission, which on Thursday published the donations returns from all political parties from last year, National has $11.4 million in declared donations which it can use to campaign this year.
That’s far more than its closest rival, the ACT Party, which has declared just $4.5m since the last election. Labour is not far behind, with $4.2m.
The Green Party was in fourth position, with $3.5m. And NZ First has $2.5m.
It’s ego grooming time. Politicians lie to us in expensive glossy manifestos with policies they don’t intend following through on, litter our space with election signs of their lying ‘mugs’, and decorating gleaming party buses, etc all to ensure they are still in the taxpayer funded trough after the election, then ignore us for the next three years.
I wonder how they justify all this printing waste we will be getting in the coming months. Surely if they are true climate change followers and support net zero, they would not be cutting down all the trees to get the resultant crap just put straight in the fire.
Why wont they think of the trees?
Yup all scum. I was talking about voting to a collogue and came to the conclusion one has to vote for the least worst party. But what ever one does, we have to keep the feral marxist scum out.
They don’t need to advertise, we all know who they are.
Perhaps that $26 million could be used to fund a few necessary surgeries instead, That would gain whichever party donated their fund some goodwill and maybe a few votes.
A friend collecting for the Salvation Army at the entrance to Woolworths in Timaru. The Collection receptacle is a white plastic biscuit barrel type which is sealed with a small plastic bit and a slit on the top for the money to go in.
The friend was sitting there, saying thank you etc and giving out donation stickers. A woman came up to the desk, grabbed the container, ripped the seal off and put her hand in to tale the money. Exactly at that time 2 police came through the door, saw what was happening and took her away.
Great timing.
Me neither but politics gets the Salvation Army a bit confused. Like all Skybayers they want to have the final say in the makeup of people’s sex lives & who they have sex with so that puts them firmly in the National camp along with the papists.
But they’re the original handwringers when it comes to State support of deadbeats so it is to the Labour/Green treadmill of benefits they must turn.
They’re totally schizophrenic & unable to hold a preference.
He would have been a prime candidate for that shit in 2020 , lots of feckers fell for that marketing ploy when it was really just labours way of getting peters out of parliament.
Graham’s theory is cultural marxism replaced gathering with friends and others enjoying good musical as ‘new music’ is now crap. They replaced gathering together and protesting on the streets with like minded controlled idiots where they can dance and shout together. Trans evolved out of the weird kids who were once Emo, etc. Listen from half way.
Graham Linehan wrote Father Ted, Black Books and The IT Crowd. Five BAFTAs. Then he said women’s spaces should be for women, and the industry that built him decided he was a bigot. He lost his marriage, his career, and twenty-five years of friendships – and won’t stop telling the truth about it.
The ritual humiliation of the Wairarapa is complete. Today’s issue of The People’s Voice (once known as the Wairarapa Times Age) confirms the Green Party’s choice of candidate for the forthcoming elections. Lauren Craig (she/they) advises that:
#. “I am a proud transgender woman with a background in law, activism, and economic policy. I’ve taken the Government to court, I was the field manager for Tory Whanau’s campaign for mayor, and I recently led a campaign to reverse the ban on puberty blockers for trans and takatāpui youth. I’ve spent the last three years working in economic policy…..”
Another pretend woman wanting to push her adam’s apple forward to lead the Wairarapa into gender confusion & compulsory sodomy.
Wow, how can it squeeze so many reasons not to vote for it into one paragraph.

just look at his bullshit and lies yesterday… “weve stopped project freedom cuz we’re close to a deal”
yeah nah the reality is that the USA navy cant do it as the risks are too high then to top it of it was actually the saudis that halted trumps plan. there was never a deal close to being made that was just another lie from a coward to save face and not admit yet another loss.

“National will run on raising super age ‘as soon as we get back in’ – Christopher Luxon”
Good! Luxon showing some balls. Most everyone know this needs to happen, but no govt ever takes the bull by the horns. No doubt Winston will shoot it down – don’t know why he won’t get on board.
Bill English promised while electioneering for 2017 to increase the super age to 67 years in 2040. DL was put into power by the elderly gentleman who chose Labour over the Nats so that shift was cancelled.
He is an idiot. There are far better and less contentious things he could mention here. How about keeping their promise last election to deal with all the te tweety shit the public are clamouring for?
One gets a distinct feeling he is setting the nats up for a defeat and forming a coalition with Liarbour
Mark Mitchell, Police and Ethnic minister and ex WEF employee, has basically said that Renee Rose deserved to be intimidated by Police, and she’s racist and he doesn’t want her kind in the community, and will not apologise.
He admits that while we have free speech protections he sounded disappointed that her post WASN’T illegal.
Mitchell who is about as smart as bag of hammers has a history of denying that police are policing speech, or that police were operating a ‘hate hub’ to record non illegal but what they deemed offensive speech.
The FSU investigated the issue and found that the Police WERE indeed operating the ‘hate hub’ (incidentally at the same time the no.2 cop in the country was watching kiddy and animal porn at the Police station).
I find it hard to believe they have addressed this culture. This morning it was reported that a police trainee was caught masturbating in public.
Just this morning deputy Commissioner under McSkimmings has alleged Mitchell needs to apologise for using the McSkimmings scandal for political advantage.
Three times Mitchell has tried for the leadership of the party and missed Everytime. Cos he’s thick as mud.
Starmers UK is well on track with National and Labour.
Btw. Renee confined this morning that she recorded her entire police interview. I bet that is a good listen.
Isn’t Police Minister Mitchell’s comments on free speech interfering in police procedure?!

Cyclone Gabrielle exposed the risks of forestry slash. New research suggests little has changed, Steve Urlich and Alex Williamson say+
By Steve Urlich & Alex Williamson*
When Cyclone Gabrielle tore through New Zealand’s Tairāwhiti region in 2023, it left behind more than silt and floodwaters.
Rivers were choked with forestry debris, beaches littered with logs, and homes, bridges and farmland buried under tonnes of forestry slash swept down from hillsides.
The scale of the impacts – to infrastructure, livelihoods, ecosystems and to Māori kaitiakitanga (guardianship), and the loss of life – triggered widespread public outrage, with a ministerial inquiry launched soon after.
This led to new rules requiring foresters to better manage harvest debris on steep slopes and reduce the risk of slash being swept away in floods.
Now, the rulebook is being rewritten again, with the government proposing changes to the National Environmental Standards for Commercial Forestry (NES-CF).
This would allow foresters to leave more slash in areas considered lower risk.
Detailed government guidance on managing slash risk is still being developed, in a process which will limit opportunity for public input. At the same time, the reforms curtail councils’ ability to impose tougher restrictions to address the risks of slash.
This all points to an obvious question: have Gabrielle’s lessons for forestry management been learned? Our newly published research suggests that, even before these latest policy changes, they have not.
Little evidence of clear-cut limitsWhen the ministerial inquiry’s findings were released in May 2023, large clear-cutting – felling all trees in one area at once – was singled out as being a key driver of damage from slash and erosion.
I did hear a comment that Salvation 2nd hand are not that cheap either.
So what is the salary of some those in that army?
Also a hand in the collection box take?
As an organisation the Salvation Army haven’t aged well. They were still Godbotherers in the 70s when three or four of them would come through the bars of the pub where I worked part time every Friday night but they were generally seen as prepared to ‘walk the walk’. I can’t say that I ever saw anyone read their copy of the War Cry & the paper ended up as more rubbish that had to be cleared at closing time but their coin boxes were always heavier when they lift.
Many of the pissheads regarded their twenty or fifty cent weekly donation as good insurance as the Sallies did actually do a lot of rehab work. They never tried any evangelical crap during their visits & were never seriously hassled.

🚨 NEW PHONE SCAM: THEY STEAL YOUR VOICE WITH AI (TF1)!
😱❗You receive a call… and no one speaks on the other end of the line.
💥It’s deliberate.
The goal: record your voice during those few seconds of silence to clone it with AI.
In less than 10 minutes, they obtain an almost perfect copy of your voice.
Then they call your loved ones, impersonating you:
“Mom, I lost my phone… send me money urgently.”
It’s already happening in France.
Golden rule:
If an unknown number calls and no one speaks → hang up immediately.
Don’t say anything. Never call back.

Lots more in there. about time.
Oh noes! Seymour hates me. Hold my teddy bear, I’m going to my safe place for a cry.
Don’t know her, but “…joining the Opportunity party as a mentor to its new leader.”
Usually mentors are people that have already succeeded in the role they are mentoring. I must have been asleep when she was PM and leader of National.
Who and mentoring who?
mentoring?
Has she ever actually done anything note worthy?
No!
She was getting lots of notes, in her pay packet, now not so many,
Soon none at all!
Yes, joining TOP.

And NZ First has $2.5m.
ask kamala harris if a huge election war chest gets you the win….
i bet quite a few early donors are disappointed and want a refund
Depends entirely if you spend it all on a huge chest!
How big would you like the boobs soots?
More than a handful.
That’s why we don’t want them to have a longer term in office.
If there slush find was that big, just imagine if they were in office longer.
I wonder how they justify all this printing waste we will be getting in the coming months. Surely if they are true climate change followers and support net zero, they would not be cutting down all the trees to get the resultant crap just put straight in the fire.
Why wont they think of the trees?
Save the trees, remember when they tried to save computers would save the paper.
It’s their money, not the govt’s. spend it how they like. I mean Kentucky Fries is not out of the way,
Here we go again – it worked so well last time:

We ain’t going to fall for that shit again!
Not with those same lying turds from last time.
Cut them of the money tree!
I heard that mad queer Baker in the radio news this morning talking his doom all over again.
Don’t be shy, you could have saved us having to guess.
I say she was feral brown scum.
didn’t ask.
Also known as a victim of colonialism.
I feel so guilty when I hear stories like this. Time for another bout of self flagellation.
Don’t donate to them since they went political!
Arrested but motive unknown as yet.

He was after sex! Everyone knows that Andrew loves sex.
Luxon says he’d prefer to be single party govt rather than coalition. . What a tool. Oh tgats right – polls dont matter.
what he means is hes voting labour to keep act and nzf out.

Telling The Truth Cost Me Everything | Graham Linehan
The Peter McCormack Show
Graham Linehan wrote Father Ted, Black Books and The IT Crowd. Five BAFTAs. Then he said women’s spaces should be for women, and the industry that built him decided he was a bigot. He lost his marriage, his career, and twenty-five years of friendships – and won’t stop telling the truth about it.
Once you have nothing left to lose there’s no point or value in going back.

That’s what they’ve done since the 1990s across every industry.
Cut them out of the world economy. Turn them back into an economic backwater. The world would be a better place for it.

You will vote for her, of course.
He had better have big tits!

trump blinked a few weeks ago and lost. all his bullshit and bluster has done is give away his game and now iran are playing bigger games with the trumptard.
just look at his bullshit and lies yesterday… “weve stopped project freedom cuz we’re close to a deal”
yeah nah the reality is that the USA navy cant do it as the risks are too high then to top it of it was actually the saudis that halted trumps plan. there was never a deal close to being made that was just another lie from a coward to save face and not admit yet another loss.
the saudis, iran and israel are all running rings around the orange retard.
Friend, your TDS is raging out of control. Your Trumpophobia ®️ is doing your head in!

Maiki Sherman has resigned. A bonus for all.

TLDR pigs gunna be pigs
Isn’t Police Minister Mitchell’s comments on free speech interfering in police procedure?!

Pride IS Political!” – Harry Miller WINS Fight to STOP Police Decorating Uniforms in Pride colours
Harry Miller joins the Mike Graham Show to discuss a major free speech victory after the IOPC agreed police officers can no longer wear Pride colours on uniforms or decorate police cars with rainbow branding. Former police officer and Fair Cop CEO Harry Miller explains the High Court ruling that Pride is political
What happened to the often claimed cry “It is a police matter and I cannot interfere in police procedural matters”
….””Nobody has the right to live their lives being protected from offence or from insult or from hurt feelings. It is an occupational hazard of living in society and if you really can’t take it, become a hermit”…..

I took one for the team tonight and watched TV1 news. Guess what I saw. 3 women cops standing around the car that ran into the cop car in the cop killing in Nelson. If a member of the public can get in, grab the keys and turn off the car, why didn’t the 3 female cops think the same. DEI in action?
If you get a chance have a look.

Some thing else the Salavation Army are whinging about.
…. When money is tight you might reasonably expect shoppers will turn to second-hand stores instead.
However, the Director of the Salvation Army stores said they’ve seen the opposite, describing the drop as ‘significant’ and a ‘shocker’. …..
….. Spending for second-hand goods fell 3.2 percent in March and 3.3 percent in April.
There are 125 Salvation Army Family Stores across the country ….
https://www.rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/checkpoint/audio/2019034236/salvation-army-stores-see-drop-off-in-people-buying-second-hand
I did hear a comment that Salvation 2nd hand are not that cheap either.
So what is the salary of some those in that army?
Also a hand in the collection box take?
I guess just like Hone hato going woke, the sallies have not learnt anything.
They’re now near as invisible.
