If you have a lot of money, then no need for debt, but we have a country that has been broken by idiots and has failed to keep its infrastructure current. A good example is roads that were built as late as the 70s for 40 ton trucks re now being broken by 60-ton trucks because the roads were never designed for them. Bridges the same and then add in the nature of the country, which is earthquake country and is on the edge of the crust. In the North Island that means it’s always moving and adds lots of rain, and we have big demands on the infrastructure.
The same shit applies to hospitals, water and stormwater. Its an expensive country to live in. It needs fixing

People who can’t help themselves, the state should help. And there are many of them.

Those who do should be encouraged to do more and should help others.

Govt should stop stealing from people to do stuff that our people don’t directly use. So no more NGO stuff, no more handouts, no more throwing money at entertainment, and no more sending money to other countries for feel-good stuff.
Govt. should create a free enterprise economy and tell all those who lobby for privilege to piss off somewhere else.
Companies should be encouraged and trusts and charitable workarounds deleted from our Law.
Accelerated depreciation should be made mandatory for plant and equipment. (Encourages staying up with the latest gear. No One would want to use IT that is years old anymore.)
Companies shouldn’t pay tax but be required to distribute x amount of their cash profit to shareholders who pay the tax.

Dame Professor Elizabeth Rata is not anti-Māori. She is not anti-children. She is not anti-education. She is a serious curriculum scholar arguing for a secular, knowledge-rich, democratic education system for all children — Māori and non-Māori alike.
To call that “anti-Māori” is not an argument. It is smear language.
A serious scholar receives public recognition after decades of work in education, curriculum, knowledge, democracy, and public service — and immediately the activist-media attack machine moves in. Not with serious argument. Not with scholarship. Not with evidence. But with a political hit job from a young online performer using the marketing name “Brie Elliott.”

Sandy Pike, an educator with more than 50 years’ experience, has gone straight to the real issue.

It seems that although it is a start by the MInister, it seems that much more can be included as mentioned by Michael Laws & Davina Smoulders.

talking anout the hypocrisy of the Policing Amendment Bill which is currently before Parliament and the Stalking and Harassment Amendment to the Crimes Act that became law last week.
The Policing Amendment Bill seeks to give police a shocking array of new powers to ideology and record the public without any proper reason. It also gives road closure powers to legalise the type of abuse of police power we witnessed at Freedom Village when thousands of NZers united to oppose mandates, discrimination and to raise awareness about myocarditis and other serious harm from their “Vax- Gene” mRNA treatment.
Its not too late to contact your MP to register your opposition to the police being given yet more powers. First they need to earn our trust!

The University of Otago has rejected claims that Vice-Chancellor Grant Robertson breached institutional neutrality requirements by criticising a controversial bill defining “woman” and “man” in law.
The Free Speech Union accused Robertson of taking an institutional position on a contested political issue after he expressed personal opposition to the Legislation (Definitions of Woman and Man) Amendment Bill in an email to students.
The Members’ Bill, introduced by NZ First MP Jenny Marcroft, passed its first reading in Parliament on May 20 and is now before a select committee.
It seeks to define “women” in law as an “adult human biological female” and “man” defined as an “adult human biological male”.
The bill has generated significant debate over its implications for transgender, intersex and non-binary New Zealanders.
