With the block already being only 4ha the council staff are dancing on the head of a pin , the new rules dictate minimum subdivision down to 20ha .
So the rules were in the basement, in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.

‘Te Pāti Māori lay out their strategy to defeat the coalition
Te Pāti Māori have laid out their strategy to defeat the coalition at the upcoming election – boost the number of voters on the Māori roll.
Speaking to reporters,Te Pāti Māori co-leader Debbie Ngārewa-Packer said her party’s strategy was clear.
“Our strategy is to get as many Māori on the Māori roll. That is our primary strategy right now.”
“What everyone is talking about is ‘how do I get more Labour for Labour, more Green to Greens? We’ve always been focused on Māori, and that’s why we [say] get them on the Māori roll.”
Co-leader Rāwiri Waititi said the party was “not interested in personalities” and were focussed on making sure that there is a “one term government”.
“What we’ve seen over the last seven to eight months in every poll that’s come out is that the Greens and Labour will not get over the line unless Te Pāti Māori is there.”
“We’re willing to make sure that our people understand what that means in terms of the Māori constituency and their vote and the power that they have, for the very first time in 160 years, is that the Māori constituents will be deciding who the Prime Minister is come November 7th – there’s no doubt about that.” he said.
Waititi said if parties on the left were really committed to ousting the coalition then his party would be “part of any of those conversations”.
Asked if he would be asking Māori voters to give their electorate vote Te Pāti Māori candidates, but their party vote to Labour and the Greens, Waititi said the party would disclose more on the party’s strategy in August.
The party welcomed candidates and party leadership to the Beehive today for their candidate college, something Ngārewa-Packer told reporters has been “really awesome”.
“That’s the most laughter I’ve heard in this place for quite some time – you want to see them all – they’re all pretty magical.”
The party announced last week that Lisa Marie Murch would stand as the party’s candidate for Te Tai Tonga in the 2026 General Election, replacing Tākuta Ferris and Ngātiwai leader Aperahama Edwards takes the candidacy for Te Tai Tokerau, following the departure of Mariameno Kapa-Kingi who left to start her own party.
Te Pāti Māori co-leader Rāwiri Waititi said the party had its “full complement” of candidates ready to go for the upcoming November 7 election.
“We’re looking forward to the challenges ahead, but we’re also optimistic about the up and coming election, and our people have some really, really awesome and viable candidates to vote for when it comes to the election day.”
Waikato-Hauraki MP Hana-Rāwhiti Maipi-Clarke also spoke to Te Karere last week and reaffirmed her commitment to the party, following speculation she might step down.
Te Pāti Māori co-leader Debbie Ngārewa-Packer said the party was always confident Maipi-Clarke would stay.
“What we [needed] was for the noise to end, and then she could actually have a chance to talk about what’s really important to her in this campaign. I think she did that really well.”
Labour’s Māori development spokesperson and Māori strategic advisor Willie Jackson also fielded questions on his party’s candidates.
The party has put up Former chair of Te Rūnanga o Koukourarata Mananui Ramsden to contest Te Tai Tonga. Jackson said the decision to not have a placing on the list and run a seat-only campaign was Ramsden’s decision.
“Strategically it was probably in his interest to not go on the list but if Mananui had a wanted to put his name up, he would have, I have no doubt, got a pretty reasonable spot”.
Jackson denied working with Te Pāti Māori to “push” Tākuta Ferris out of the seat, which he now holds as an independent.
“I didn’t talk to the Māori party about it, I just talked to Mananui about it, obviously, because Mananui is a new candidate. It’s all up to the candidates whether they come on the list or not.” he said’.

Dame Jacinda Ardern receives honorary degree from Oxford University Former New Zealand Prime Minister Dame Jacinda Ardern has been awarded Oxford University’s most prestigious honour in a sweltering ceremony on Wednesday in the UK.

Teachers are asked to help students “make links between historical forms of fascism and contemporary forms of fascism”. PPTA President Chris Abercrombie insisted the project would not stop pupils holding right-wing views. The state knows that if the public were to see the per-capita breakdown of who is clogging our tribunals and weaponising our consumer protections, the narrative of “successful multiculturalism” would collapse overnight.

We are forced to rely on the mounting anecdotes of landlords, employees, businesses and trades people dealing with Indians. Yesterday, HDPA revealed that Chloe Swarbrick wrote directly to the European Union’s Trade Commissioner, complaining that New Zealand is not cutting emissions sufficiently and asking him to launch a formal investigation into whether we have breached the Free Trade Agreement.
Her actions risked exposing our economy and exporters to the very real threat of sanctions — or even worse.
That Swarbrick and the Greens attended the National Agricultural Fieldays in Hamilton without disclosing any of this to farmers or the media, even though she held a stand-up directly mentioning Free Trade Agreements and export markets and called on the govt to be honest and transparent — is nothing short of disgraceful and deeply hypocritical.
It simply beggars belief that the media aren’t all over this.

Fatherlessness in New Zealand didn’t happen by accident.
In the early 1970s, Norman Kirk third labour prime minister introduced policies that changed incentives around family, responsibility, and dependency. One of the most consequential was the Domestic Purposes Benefit.
In 1973, around 4% of children were born into single-parent households. Today, that figure is over 40%.
That shift wasn’t random. Policy shapes behaviour. Culture follows incentives.
Strong families matter.
Children raised with engaged fathers are statistically less likely to experience crime, mental illness, suicide, homelessness, or long-term unemployment. Stable families create safer communities, better outcomes, a stronger economy, and lower long-term costs to the taxpayer.
Destroy the family, grow the state, drain the taxpayer. That’s the left’s playbook.
Don’t be fooled again: CGT (capital gain tax) and “free” healthcare aren’t compassion they’re tools to kill wealth creation and make citizens dependent on the state. Textbook socialism.
The most dangerous promise in politics is simple:
“If you vote for me, I’ll give you X.” That isn’t leadership. It’s vote-buying.
We’ve been deliberately divided poor vs rich, young vs old, race vs race while long term social damage compounds quietly in the background.
New Zealand doesn’t need leaders obsessed with re-election. It needs a critical thinker who value family, responsibility, and long-term nation-building over short-term personal gain.
Where we are 53 years later is the predictable outcome of terrible ideas turned into permanent policy:
Fathers were devalued.
Families were weakened.
And now we’re living with the consequences.
Next time you vote, don’t focus on what a politician promises to give you.
Watch what their policies reward and what they slowly destroy.
We need a true leader a patriot who loves this country and its people, a man who can’t be bought or sold like most of these career politicians.
The standards have dropped and the numbers are here to prove that.

Most of Cuthbert’s shallow article/comment & subsequent comments are hidden behind Facebook’s membership charade. I have no idea of whether he was around in 1973 but he’s missed the mood of the time.
Firstly Norm Kirks, like him or not & I didn’t, was a union man & a social conservative. The idea of breaking up families & fostering career breeders would have been kryptonite to him.
Rather the DPB bill as passed is a monument to “creep”. What was intended as a much needed way for women to escape from violent relationships & keep their families together was hijacked. Society evolved in a direction that did away with the stigma of solo motherhood on the back of the DPB in a way not intended by those who introduced the legislation.
Practise is the result of law grinding against the judiciary & civil servants who take it upon themselves to interpret it in ways best known to themselves. So a law based on compassion has been used to wreck society.

A taxi was driving through a lower class town area, in the back of the taxi was a lady and her 12 year old son, he said “Mum, why are all these ladies standing in shop doorways?
