No, Climate Change has caused those massive waves. When the first Maori circumnavigated the planet, the sea was a millpond, the countries were closer together, feathers and flax were all that was required to cover flesh in all weather, and the weather was less erratic so they could plan ahead.
Or so we are supposed to believe. Still waiting on proof, pity they had no written records…
The Boss is stuck in colonialist weather patterns. Back when Kupe et al. cruised Antarctica waters Maori enjoyed the spirit of nature rather than the reality. As evidence I offer Te Tiriti which is now honoured in its spirit instead of the quaint truths & facts so highly valued by imperialists.

I can’t believe anybody would think Maori went anywhere near Antarctica. I’ve sailed in the roaring forties once and have no intention of doing it again. Heading south once you get through the the roaring forties you hit the furious fifties and then the screaming sixties. Going there in a poorly designed multi hull with crap sails and no decent wet weather gear would be suicide – I’ve seen 10 grand carbon head sails fly to pieces amazingly fast. If we then imagine by some miracle they’re still alive and sailing the next problem is navigation. Not having a sextant or compass wouldn’t help there chances and I’m very dubious about their stories of how they used the stars for navigation. I’ve done courses on navigating by the stars and it can be done but it’s not that simple and you have to be able to see them which probably doesn’t happen that often in those parts. Like Matariki no evidence has ever been provided which means it’s just another bullshit powered grift.

Some one reported their fucking phone systems did an Earthquake alert.
What is the point?
Though I think some have enabled that setting, via some whatever app, so it is their choice.
So not a civil defence alert. Surely not.
That is surprizing to hear about people in multi storey buildings way up in Auckland, saying they were not too happy. 🥴
Yet they were not at sea. 🤢
nor any tsusami warning this time.
Felt fuck all. Never heard any alarms either. Will there be another one? Yes of course there will be. But who knows when, where or how big, and anyone predicting shit knows fuck all about geology.
Well, that was just the biggest one I have felt, centered virtually in the next road at Te Maire Bluff on the Wanganui River and Forgotten World Highway. Bit of damage, the old Family Bibles moved about somewhat so it may have been God trying to rearrange life. Anywhoo, New World is a mess and guess so will other Retailers be in a shambles. A few roads closed here and at the Awakino Gorge.
Just as well I wasn’t having a Shag at that precise time because I would have felt the Earth move and dismissed the Earthquake.

Hydrogen-powered steelmaking start-up CullBeck raises funds at $60m valuation, signs ‘$1b’ anchor customer
Chief executive and co-founder of the start-up Martin Hacon says that, all-up, his firm has raised $20m, including $5m from an unnamed foundation customer in Australia.
Hacon said around two billion tonnes of steel was manufactured per year (including around 200,000 tonnes in New Zealand), producing 7-8% of the world’s carbon emissions.
The process takes 12-14 hours to turn raw iron ore into liquid steel.
His firm’s zero-emission technology reduces that to two and a half minutes.
———————————————
Now imagine that, liquid steel from our ironsands in 2.5 minutes.
If you have followed Musk and his giga press, you will be aware that that press produces the entire body shell of the car in 8 seconds by using a similar process to making hard plastic products. Of course, if you bang the car its stuffed but recyclable.
This steel process could be a forerunner of that for that kind of use.
So Nash was done over by findlayson. Never can trust a Nat; never will.
Stuart Nash didn’t fact-check his now-infamous text message to podcast host and former politician Chris Finlayson.
He says he never thought he’d need to, because it was meant to be the start of a private joust with a friend.
That message, criticising Napier MP Katie Nimon, triggered yet another political whirlwind with Nash at its centre, after Finlayson made it public this week.
What an arsehole he remains.
If he publicises a private conversation who else would he shit on?
Our HR bought a lie detector robot that slaps people when they lie and took it home to test it. He decided to test it out at dinner that night. The HR asked his son what he did that afternoon. The son said, “I did some schoolwork.” The robot slapped the son. The son said, “Ok, Ok. I was at a friend’s house watching movies.” Dad asked, “What movie did you watch?” Son said…….
“Toy Story.” The robot slapped the son. Son said, “Ok, Ok, we were watching p*rn.” Dad said, “What? At your age I didn’t even know what p*rn was.” The robot slapped the HR. His wife laughed and said, “Well, he certainly is your son.” The robot slapped her.

Another rerun of the Magdalene Laundries of Catholic Ireland 1922 to 1996? Wonderful story of God’s love & forgiveness that was to be sure.
Pregnant teenage girls stigmatised by the Church sent to Church run institutions to have their babies under the supervision of psychotic nuns. Then the babies were sold to adopters in the USA for good coin while the mothers were indentured to the laundries where they were used as slave labour until their imaginary debt to the Catholic orphanage was repaid.
The unfortunate ones who didn’t make it through the baby factory were thrown into an old septic tank at the back of a church cemetery.
It was a racket. The stinking Catholic church & its deviant priests were up to their necks in the exploitation of the vulnerable.
Now tell us. Have you ever met a l;eopard that could change its spots?
No
Well, apparently this piece of shit thinks he can.
Why former Labour MP Michael Wood thinks Mt Roskill voters should trust him again Transport Minister and Labour MP Michael Wood resigned from Cabinet following a scandal in 2023, after the Heraldrevealed his failure to sell Auckland Airport shares despite repeatedly being told to do so. He tells senior writer Derek Cheng why he believes the Mount Roskill electorate should give him another chance.
You live in Mount Roskill and former Labour MP Michael Wood knocks on your door. You tell him his repeated failure to sell his Auckland Airport shares when he was Transport Minister, after being told to do so a dozen times, crossed a line. You’ll never vote for him.
“I certainly understand and respect the fact that you made that decision last election,” Wood says after the Herald puts this role-playing scenario to him.
“For me, that period of 2023 was the absolute worst period of my life. It’s pretty clear that I made a mistake in not selling those shares.”
He adds, for context but not as an excuse, that he hadn’t touched the shares since buying them as a 19-year-old.
“And in the midst of working 90 hours a week as a senior minister, that was always something I put to one side and didn’t get back to. It wasn’t that I was ignoring the issue totally. It wasn’t that I wasn’t aware of it. It wasn’t that I was thumbing my nose at anyone. It was just an important but small job that I didn’t do, and should have done.”
He also wants to know the local issues for you, and how you think he can resolve them.
“At every moment over the last 13 years that I’ve been in elected roles in Mount Roskill up until that point, I put every hour of the day working for you and trying to serve this community. That’s what I want to do again.
“I do believe I’m the best person who can represent you and make a difference on the things that actually matter to you. So, I’ll leave the choice to you.”
Apart from that issue, he has proven to be a lying bastard in the past.
The great fall
Wood’s inability to sell those shares was one of the catalysts for Labour’s inexorable slide in the polls in mid-2023.
Labour had already lost then-Cabinet Ministers Stuart Nash, for divulging Cabinet discussions to his donors, and Meka Whaitiri, who defected to Te Pāti Māori, but party insiders say the real hit in their internal polling came with the Wood scandal.
The subtext was that the rules didn’t apply to him, or by association to Labour. It reeked of arrogance.
