LABOUR’S COMMUNISM HAS BROKEN NEW ZEALAND — WHY WOULD WE WANT THAT AGAIN
In the not-so-distant past there were wars to prevent communism now we are fighting it at home, now there’s a new communist party, the Opportunity Party led by a Chinese – what link and influence does China have in that? (another story another time)
The tenure of the Labour Government, led by Jacinda Ardern and later Chris Hipkins, remains a subject of intense national debate, with critics and supporters holding deeply polarized views on its legacy.
Governance and Executive Accountability — We argue that the administration suffered from operational ineptitude, characterized by a failure to deliver on core promises despite holding a historic single-party majority from 2020 to 2023. Central to this perspective is the underperformance of flagship initiatives like Kiwibuild, which fell significantly short of its housing targets, and the light rail project in Auckland, which was ultimately cancelled after substantial expenditure. The consolidation of health services into Te Whatu Ora was also criticized for increasing bureaucracy without demonstrably improving frontline patient outcomes.
Economic and Fiscal Policy –Under Labour, government spending and national debt increased substantially, driven initially by emergency COVID-19 economic protections such as the Wage Subsidy Scheme. While these measures temporarily preserved employment, critics contend that prolonged high spending, combined with global supply shocks, contributed to high inflation and a cost-of-living crisis. Furthermore, changes to labor laws, increases to the minimum wage, and the expansion of welfare benefits led to concerns from the business sector regarding productivity and welfare dependency.
Co-Governance and Māori Affairs — The implementation of co-governance models across various public sectors became one of the most contentious political issues of the era. Initiatives such as the Three Waters reform, the establishment of the Māori Health Authority (Te Aka Whai Ora), and the interpretation of Treaty of Waitangi principles drew sharp opposition. Critics argued these policies created a dual system of citizenship, undermined democratic equality, and granted disproportionate decision-making power based on race. Conversely, proponents defended these measures as necessary steps to honor Treaty obligations and address long-standing health and social inequities.
COVID-19 Response —The government’s “go hard and go early” elimination strategy initially received widespread praise and resulted in low mortality rates during the first phase of the pandemic. However, the prolonged closure of international borders, extended lockdowns in Auckland, and the introduction of vaccine mandates later created significant social friction. Opponents argued the mandates infringed upon personal freedoms, disrupted the workforce, and fostered deep societal division, while the administration maintained these choices were essential to protect public health and prevent the healthcare system from collapsing.
QUEERDOM FORCED ON NEW ZEALAND –The social and legislative agendas of the Labour and Green parties regarding gender, sexuality, and education have generated significant controversy and resistance from various sectors of New Zealand society.
Gender Identity, Sports, and Public Spaces —The intersection of gender identity policies with traditional single-sex spaces and sports has become a major flashpoint. Critics argue that the advocacy supported by Labour and the Greens has compromised the privacy, safety, and fairness historically afforded to women. Key areas of contention include:
- Athletic Fairness: Policy frameworks allowing transgender women (biological males) to compete in female sports categories face intense criticism. Opponents argue this creates an unfair competitive advantage due to physiological differences, undermining the integrity of women’s sports.
- Private Spaces: The shifting of access criteria for public restrooms, changing rooms, and domestic violence shelters from biological sex to gender identity has drawn sharp opposition. Critics contend this compromises the safety and comfort of biological women in vulnerable environments.
Education and School Curriculums
The introduction of updated relationship and sexuality education (RSE) guidelines in schools has faced strong pushback from parents and conservative groups. Critics object to the inclusion of concepts regarding gender fluidity, diverse sexualities, and age-inappropriate content for young children. They argue these programs infringe upon parental rights, promote specific ideological viewpoints, and introduce complex adult concepts into classrooms prematurely.
Social Policy and Family Structure — From a traditionalist perspective, the promotion of LGBTQ+ rights and progressive social policies by the political left is viewed as an erosion of foundational societal norms. Critics argue that the political elevation of diverse family structures and alternative lifestyles devalues the traditional nuclear family. They contend that shifting state focus away from conventional family dynamics weakens social cohesion and undermines long-standing cultural values.
Cindy’s Labour party implement socialist policies despite NZers not wanting a bar of it. There has been very little attempt by Luxon and co to reverse the effects of those expensive, social wrecking policies despite the majority voting specifically to reverse them at high speed.
