FWIW: In respect of the first meme (‘Halloween’), observation over the past five or so years indicates that, in NZ, the main promoter of the ‘event’ has been and continues to be ‘The Warehouse’, whose management evidently see it as a very lucrative money spinner, and who have been assudiously promoting it as a result. Such has been their sucess in the marketting if the ‘event’ that other businesses are now also starting to folliw a similar path.
Such organisations are encouraged in this BTW, by many state primary school teachers teachers ( invariably young and female and straight from teachers college but without life experience) who see ‘Halloween’ as ‘fun’ without bothering to research it’s background, and as an easy means of keeping their charges ‘entertained’.
On that basis therefore, I susoect that the sentiments expressed by the Australian note poster are perhaps too late.
