Hamilton Protest (Picnic in the park)

Guess who this lovely lady is. Kea and Mikey have been fighting over her all week. Eat your heart out Edith.

At the end of a very rowdy “Picnic,” they all set out along River road to go on a march through the CBD.

Cops turned up in force to try and stop them. Driving on the wrong side of the road to try and impede the marchers didn’t work. They just lifted the wide banner over the top of plod and left them stranded.

Cops blocked off the traffic onto Victoria Street bridge and the march continued across it.

The tail end of the protest. The head of the march was already across the bridge and turning into victoria street. Don’t let anyone say it was only a hundred or so there. It was a big protest march.

  1. Hubby and I attended the Freedom Rally in Hamilton this morning. Numbers were large and growing despite heavy and persistent rain. The rally was at Memorial Park beside the RSA cenotaph, a poignant backdrop to a freedom rally against authoritarianism. The rally began on River Road, a main thoroughfare later blocked by protesters as they began their march over the Victoria Street Bridge and onto Victoria Street (main street of Hamilton). Their plan was to march down the main street and back across Claudlands Bridge several blocks down. The cops were caught off-guard and were scrambling with the traffic as the rally and march this week unfolded in a different park from previous freedom rallies. Nice to see such a huge turnout of likeminded souls. Whoever organised the rally did a brilliant job. Thanks to whomever you are.
Good to see Rachael and Lizzie again and thanks to Rachael for the whistles, they lent a nice note to proceedings. 🤩

FJA has a larger problem with ‘non-compliants’ than she is admitting.
