“Immigration status” and “Religion” have been declared a protected category on YouTube’s hate speech policy, effectively banning speech critical of illegal immigration and Islam, experts warn. Of course, we all know that criticism of Christianity will not be considered hate speech.

Does Immigration “status” mean immigration “policy” in which case it may be an issue.
Shows the stupidity and complexity of attempting to legislate something as rich and varied as speech and word usage.
New Zealand does not need something as simplistic as You Tube being used as a guide to right or wrong.
I’m not convinced it is about immigration policy or the impact of immigration. It reads to me more like being critical of somebody based of whether they are an immigrant or not. As an example, Billy Heinz and Pouaa Wehiwehi Cassidy, both staunch Labour supporters, use people’s immigration status as a means to try and discredit their views on Labour.
Damn- so I can’t say “Stop the two-bit beaners from invading and infesting the USA Mr. Trump” whoops just did!
Would “Veteran status” mean the lefties cannot pick on us”old white men”?
I will not hold my breath for this not to happen any time soon.
I’ve thought about this and quite honestly I don’t give a shit.
I’ll simply stop watching anything political on YouTube and stick to their old movies, tv shows etc, for which they are excellent.
Free speech and politics is alive and well right here 🙂 we are the Anti-Christ to the left.
No media caster should be allowed to use youtube or twitter to denigrate others. This is where we use their own rules against them and report and flag ANYTHING deemed as inappropriate under the rules. Left, Right and in between. It’s the only way to ensure a level playing field.
Checked through the list, and I’m pleased to see blonde jokes are ok.
At least there’s something we can laugh at.
What about Irish ones. We will be offended if they are banned.
