    • Don’t underestimate how important this UK news is. The protesters won. The people who held the line, saved the day. There were just too many of them to sack them all.

The Big Retreat is great news — except of course, for all the healthworkers who’ve already quit, or been forced to take an injection they didn’t want, or who have suffered for months with the stress of not knowing if they would be sacked. It’s all been so cruel and will leave a wake …a loss of trust that will last for years.

Covid passports programs are also ending in Ireland, Bolivia, the Czech Republic, and Denmark and now Switzerland, Saskatchewan and Alberta Canada are promising that vaccine passports will end this month.

Tell the world about them: it’s fuel for protesters and a cold shower for politicians. Newspapers probably won’t headline the pattern of freedom that is starting to spread. There will be people in the world who will be wondering right now if they should hold-the-line.

Politicians will feel isolated if other countries are abandoning their “health passes”.

Health secretary Sajid Javid announces U-turn that will prevent exodus of thousands of health workers
The move came three days before the 3 February deadline that unvaccinated NHS workers who had face-to-face contact with patients had been given to have their first dose or be dismissed.

Figures published last week by NHS England show that 127,515 NHS and domiciliary care staff working in registered settings had not had a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine as of 23 January.

Javid also plans to remove immunisation as a condition of working in care homes, an approach that has already led to the loss of about 40,000 staff in that sector.

He told MPs: “While vaccination remains our very best line of defence, I believe it is no longer proportionate to require vaccination as a condition of deployment by statute.

NHS organisations said that an estimated 60,000 staff would have been dismissed if Javid had not relented.

Omicron has changed everything, but governments shouldn’t have mandated this in the first place. The loss of faith in institutions may never be recovered. After calling healthworkers heroes, they treated them like dirt. The next time there is a major health crisis, healthworkers will believe the pots-n-pans theater?

More countries cutting restrictions and passports:

Switzerland will end vaccine passports later this month.
Alberta Canada may lift COVID-19 vaccines passports by the end of February.
Italy, Switzerland and Finland are easing restrictions, and faster than they expected even two weeks ago. Norway also relaxed most rules. Vaccinated travels can fly straight in without testing. Unvaxxinated travelers are welcome but need a test before flying. There are no more quarantines.
Most people can fly to and from most European countries, sorta.
      Mumbai is easing restrictions
The UK Government cannot even afford the compensation claims for all the pain and suffering these

        • So the million dollar question, and what horse really spends her time on, is how to keep the borders closed to international news of the fall of mandates, the lie that is the mRNA treatment.

Its 18 months to election time and she has to keep the plates spinning till then.

I don’t think she can do it. Either a complete breakdown or a hissie fit, stampy feet, walk out will happen with the fat controller taking over.

Any bets when it will happen?

  1. Guess who and the colour.

No let me tell you, it is a vulnerable, downtrodden, Early Settler. If this is representative of the people who live there, why would you do anything to assist them in any way. This is a very good reason why Rotorua us a shithole and not worth visiting. It should just disappear into the toilet it has become. What a disgusting lowlife to do this, but Cindy’s Government will help and no doubt she is already being paid each fortnight by you, the taxpayer.

    • That is so disgusting how anyone Maori or Any race, creed or what ever could do that while a doctor was trying to save a victim’s life is beyond belief. I was at Waikato hospital for a procedure yesterday, I was asked my jab status once no one else seemed to care, it was the most wonderful service I could have expected anywhere. The Nurses were fabulous the two surgeons were amazing I was treated with great respect and care. I certainly could not complain at anything from arrival to leaving and the thought that some low life who was given 1 year supervision is beyond belief. That is such a disgusting offence. The little boy was perhaps lucky he has passed on from this life what sort of a life would he have had? It doesn’t fit the families values????/////// I bet it does and their relatives neighbours and friends. FJA

    • The Brig and Mrs Rissole have recently been on a holiday to Rotorua.

Our roots there are deep. Mrs Rissole (as Sir Starving Artist the Brave will testify) is an albino. She was born in Rotorua and so was Mrs Rissole’s friend Bloody Edith the drunk.

I have been going to Rotorua since a baby as Father Rissole was an extremely keen fly fisherman. BTW do not confuse trout fly fishing with what M. Hunty gets up to with flys.

Rotorua has never looked better and tidier. We went and looked at the worst places and they were in fact greatly improved.

YSB roving reporter is suspicious that rumous of the demise of Rotorua are greatly exaggerated.

And by the way, Rissole went and inspected a quite lovely collection of English hammered silver pennies starting from King Henry the First. He also had lovely coinage of the Tudors including a fine specimen of King Henry the Eighth and a dozen gold collectable coins. He was reasonably well informed on them.

The collection was the property of a well known Maori figure by the way. Far more European culture and class in him than most pure white folk Rissole has ever seen. True fact. And he’s a published writer.

Maori have a lot of difficulties that is true. To label all Maori as being the same, is rank ignorance.

      • BRG, the article above was about one inhabitant of Rotorua and no one has labeled all Maori or tarred them as the same, as allude too. Incidentally 5 of our grandchildren are of Maori decent with their Grandmother a very well known local beautiful gentle Maori from Rotorua. We are there often for family reasons. However daughter and family moved from Rotorua as they were not keen to bring their children up there, or in that environment. I can see why.

As to your comments on a lot of Maori having difficulties. That may be true, but so do many, not only Maori, some of their own making, some due to their their upbringing. In our rural town, I work for a Maori based organisation and can say, from what I and they have to deal with, huge resources are directed and thrown at Maori and in many cases (with those, this organisation is dealing with) it is not taken advantage of fully, so that these people can better themselves. In many cases, education is not valued within the wider family and as such children grow up not reaching the potential they could.

      • Yep, Rotorua has changed greatly. 20 odd years I have had houses there. Half the price of Tauranga.
        Much better tenants these days.

Those that did this would be Nga Puhi’s.
Totally despised by the Te Arawa and others from close by.
Never really encountered racism till I came across this.

Te Arawa own a lot of the town and once they were allowed to develop the centre where the railway used to run the town has gone ahead. Lots of development there now. Finally some new subdivisions getting under way. One for 1200 at Owhata, run by Ray Morrison and a couple up the back off Springfield rd.
Their big problem is waste water. Trying to stop storm water into the lake and what to do with sewerage water, even cleaned up Maori don’t like it sprayed under the pines.

For those that like trout fishing there is something like 15 lakes within an hour of Rotorua plus ski fields in the winter and plenty of hunting within the same distance.
There are plenty of truck driving jobs and forestry jobs and mill jobs there once accommodation gets better.
The weather there is often better than Tauranga. Much less wind. Roading is better.
        Might just retire there.

        • Viking, from my discussions with local Maori family & relatives in Rotorua, Te Arawa see somewhat miffed that Ngai Tahu came in and purchased much of the major tourism and tourist attractions in Rotorua from right under their noses. It was almost as if Te Arawa were sleeping at the time. Te Arawa seem now to have woken up.

But you comments on Nga Puhi may have some truth to it, from my experience.

          14

            • Viking, I have read a lot on Nga Puhi and have a reasonable collection of books on New Zealand History pre 1900. What Nga Puhi did was not to dissimilar (although not so widely documented) as what Tuwhatetoa did to the various Maori Tribes who lived around Mt Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe and what is now Taumarunui. From this area, Tuwharetoa drove these resident Tribes down the Wanganui River to the confluence of the Wanganui & Ongarue Rivers at Taumarunui. There Tuwharetoa slaughtered them in the thousands and spent days after feasting and taking slaves. These Tribes had many red headed Maori amongst them and they took the brunt of Tuwharetoa’s violence. There are still red headed Maori living around Taumarunui and they claim their DNA can be traced back to ancient Persia.

The area where this occurred in Taumarunui at the confluence of the Wanganui and Ongarue Rivers is now called “Cherry Grove” (Ngahuinga) and is beautiful and quite sacred to local Maori.

Most people are not aware of the very violent early to recent history of this country (whether it be Ngati Toa, Nga Puhi or Tuwharetoa) to around pre treaty times with much inter Tribal hatred. Much of this inter Tribal dislike, continuing to this very day. Regretfully the accuracy of this early history is only as good as oral history allows due to no written language being available by early settlers to this country.

Sadly, it has caused much heartache including not being allowed access to my very elderly parents for 3 months so far. I speak to them on the phone but it isn’t the same.

I feel wretchedly sorry for all those who were forced to keep your employment. I hope you have grounds to sue your employer in the near future for breaching your rights.

          • Sadly I know of one being pressured because of sudden severe medical issues.
To more easily gain treatment, to get past receptionists, gate keepers, etc.. so then complied to becoming double jabbed.
as the ongoing pressure, causing so much stress.
The pressure is relentless, as now the push for the booster, but holding out for Novavax.

I still will not trust Novavax, just look into another “window” who owns who, and so will be pushing that, and through the same systemic FDA CDC etc..

I see Novavax has been okay-ed by MedSafeNZ with 62 conditions, and noting there are some further dates, like 15th Feb, and even later to 31st July.
Whether the systemic Medical Autocracy & Ardern will over rule by Parliamentary legislation remains to be seen.

    .
….A tale of two countries New Zealand and Denmark ….. [first 2 and a half minutes on NZ]
….. Throughout the pandemic, our data shows that the key worry of Danes is not their own health, but overwhelmed hospitals
    .
Epidemiology in Denmark has not been politicized. ….
    .
….. Covid control will soon be similar to that of seasonal flu …..

    .
Paraphrased:—- So “kindly” Ardern’s crew believe is rationale in phasing the reopening of New Zealand, as that the virus could agree to infect people in a phased way to suit the politics of the New Zealand government. …. Ha ha …yeah right …

Controlling the virus Ardern 🙁 while controlling New Zealanders with “mandatory vaxxes” where the vaxxes are not worth anything, as catching and transmission.
Whilst assiduously doing nothing to support the hospital system, ICU, nursing, doctors, PEP, or give a RATS 🙁
    .
It is mainly about Denmark and the measures other countries have done in comparison to Denmark.

      • What else does she have?!!!!

Vaccine injuries relabeled as Covid-2022. There will be a 2022 version, trust me. I believe the Vaccine subscription model was an idea from Bill Gates. So every 3 or 4 years they have to re-invent the product which requires re-inventing the problem that the product is a “solution” for.

        They will however be unsuccessful.

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Nancy says, “John F. Kennedy.”

When the teacher turns her back Johnny says in frustration, “I wish these dumb bitches would keep their fucking mouths shut!”

The teacher turns around and she is livid: “NOW WHO SAID THAT?!?!”

Johnny: “Harvey Weinstein. Can I go now, Miss?”

OPINION: I have to confess I laughed when a press release arrived in my inbox last week: “Chief Ombudsman applauds No 1 global ranking in Transparency International index.”

I laughed because I have been shocked since returning to New Zealand at the end of 2020, after two decades reporting overseas, at just how obstructive and deliberately untransparent our public service has become.

On closer look, I saw that the Transparency International index related to perceptions of corruption around the world. This is of course a patently good thing.

But open government appears to be on the wane. This is partly because of the growth in the “communications industrial complex”, where vast battalions of people now work to deflect and avoid, or answer in the most oblique manner possible. We journalists are vastly outnumbered by spin doctors.

So the party basically a product now. Nothing about re establishing it’s basic principles. But it will be interesting to watch, popcorn in hand.

  20. NZPSA
    @NZPSA
In negotiations, DHBs have effectively asked our APHST health professionals to take a pay cut. The very same health workers who have, and will be, getting us through this pandemic.

They will be voting on strike action within the coming weeks, because they are severely underpaid, understaffed and undervalued. And they cannot continue on this way.

Our health workers deserve better then this.

Many of them currently don’t even earn the living wage.

    • Disagree. Fuck em. They had their chance to stand up and be counted, to say no as one of the most powerful collectives in NZ. In fact, they could have ended all mandates for everyone, all on their own. Stiff shit, reap what you sow you compliant weaklings. They’re on their own. Fuck the healthcare workers, they’re 99% of the problem in their complicity. Zero sympathy here.

      Fuck the healthcare workers.

      • I don’t think they know the cupboard is bare Floyd…Too many goodies provided to them to maintain the hoax.
I am also peeved to the max at the Heart Foundation…where the fuck are they? They should be screaming about vax injuries instead of begging for donations….crickets.

        • Exactly, good point Bn. Hopefully the rugby players start dropping dead on the field of play.

They have made us choose sides. It’s US and THEM.

Only one side will come out on the correct side of the history books, if indeed there are factual history books in the future (channeling George).

  21. Stuff on today’s website have a human interest story concerning the Westport flood. https://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/west-coast/127698749/west-coast-mum-sat-in-tractor-with-two-children-during-heavy-downpour-waiting-for-help-to-come

All good & the rescue efforts had a happy ending.

BUT they couldn’t leave it at that. They had to include a preachy, fuckwitted video about the “terrible” outcomes of their prophesied bullshit global warming. Message to the idiots……I read your site occasionally for the news…….not your interpretations of chicken entrails, your opinions nor the feelings deep down in your tummies.

    • I spent 3 hrs this morning sweeping the gutters and unblocking drains in our street. Council are fuggin useless.

During that time, I got toots from neighbours and a thank you from one of the neighbours sons who said he would go inside and tell his Dad what I was doing.
Not one of them offered to help, except a Mum who found a few minutes, in between taxi-ing her tribe of kids about.
I will continue to unblock drains and sweep the gutters regardless.
The no.1 Global problem isn’t Climate.

    • Why hold invisable gold crypto when you could just own the real deal?
Id be cautious about any setups like this that arent backed by physical bullion and only invest via “paper gold”/ efts.

      • Agree. I didn’t see the cost vs reward benefit with gold from a profitability point, but went silver. It’s interesting times sitting on a bunch. Bought 3 and some years ago, you’re not the only prepper! 👌
The writing was on the wall before Covid.
Either way, if the SHTF precious metals will always be trade-able. Would rather a big profit than that though!

        • Depends.

Speaking of costs to hold, wonder what will happen to our money in the bank if the bank should fail.

So “trust the system” ya reckon Ed? We have to take things into our own hands. Figuratively and literally. Who runs Bitcoin?
Don’t parrot the “everyone plays a part” bs.

          Who is Satoshi…….😎

          • Although let it be noted that Bitcoin surged plus 10% today. Over 5.5k a coin up to about 60k today. I got offered it a few years back at 1k. Think it went to about 98 at the top. Had never heard of it, and it sounded like a pyramid scheme. Needless to say, I missed out big time…..
