Congratulations Boris! He won the Conservative leadership with a total of 92, 153 votes.
May he return sanity to Great Britain.
Yes, it’s probably better to have a Brexiteer rather than a Remoaner deliver Brexit.
While Johnson plays the clown, he is incredibly smart.
I am a very happy man today! The Right are on such a resurgence around the globe….
Does any other country offer “welfare” as a lifestyle choice like NZ?
Yes; hence the push of the ‘south of the Med’ mongrels to get into the UK.
It is high time this whole model was reviewed to match the current day.
The current settings belong to a one car, one B+W TV, no microwave 1973.
The world has changed and the welfare model needs to change.
[Not to a Mad Gareth Morgan style though! ]
There are moves afoot by the Law Society to reset to old 50/50 property split that comes from the same era and is hopelessly outdated in less than half a century.
Boris Johnson announced as winner
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=12252165
Boris Johnson us a very dangerous nan. He’s a guy who has opinions and what’s more he delivers those opinions fearlessly and with humour.
If there was such a man in New Zealand, who knows what trouble we would get into?
I’m so glad we have that nice caring Muslim loving immigration promoting globalist lady mummy looking after us and protecting our wellbeing.
Well done Boris, I like him, but I fear that he will be a bit flakey.
An ideal Brexit for me would be no compensation, Britain controls her own borders and a trade deal. (Trade was after all the main reason the Common Market started Not a political union)
But I doubt there will be time for the EU to consider any changes.
Actually more accurately, they bend their will to the populist views of the “what’s in it for wynston” party and he just wants baubles.
As an Englishman I don’t believe for one moment that the Conservative Party has adopted that position. I am not even convinced Boris Johnson has – he swings like a weather vane. The only political party that has clearly and genuinely adopted it is the Brexit Party, and the only politician to sincerely raise a banner for national sovereignty is its leader, Nigel Farage. My hope is that the situation will collapse into needing a General Election, and that the Brexit Party gains a massive overall majority.
Then my dear old country might be saved. I do not believe Boris Johnson has the spine to do what is needed.
you say:
‘he swings like a weather vane’
That is exactly how John Key operated for 8 years.
I hope you are wrong but fear you are right as a new PM is like changing deck chairs on the Titanic as MP’s are unlikely to change their views so a no deal is highly unlikely as is a fair exit deal from the Evil Union. I do dream that Deutsche Bank fails shortly and Trump slaps Germany with a large Nato Bill and Tariffs and the whole odious edifice of the EU collapses.
Trade may have been the reason the Common Market peddled for its existence, but political union in the form of an autocratic European Empire run by Germany was quite clearly the original impetus, and the current rapidly-forming result. Research the connection between the Nazis and the nascent EU.
Yes the EU commission closely resembles the Fourth Reich.
Here is a very good article about Boris. Well worth reading
https://quillette.com/2019/07/23/cometh-the-hour-cometh-the-man-a-profile-of-boris-johnson/
BTW. DN sorry about the down tick. Mistake from a “fat finger”.
The COL’s working party on the RMA changes are reporting back today.
Simon Bridges says good luck to them, that the whole RMA needs reforming and nothing will be done before the next election and that the COL love a working party.
Ahem, COL don’t know the meaning of the work concept. Never have, never will.
More a catering party.
How many of the 200 working groups have reported back yet?
I think you are right, more a catering party! Troughing it!
Another working party. The RMA is a huge, vast tome of rules our District Plans are based on. Yes, it certainly adds to increased development costs, but to unravel it and make real change is not going to happen with these butt-heads in power. NZ is stuck with it.
As Simon said, good luck to them. They won’t have taken all the repercussions to their decisions into account.
Judith Collins has been working on RMA reform so it will be interesting to see Judith shoot down the COL’s working party recommendations.
Labour and Co wouldn’t cooperate with National to change it, I hope National return the favour.
Sorry ducklin , I worked with the rma for years. There are no rules in the Rma. Many are saying it needs to be changed but no one says what part.
It’s a mess of red tape for sure. I remember once upon a time a little red book of maybe 70 pages was the District Plan, until it came up for review. It turned into a 50 kg monster with triple the rules they can trip you up over, double the staff, and lots of $$$ is the only way to tick the boxes.
Along with twice the staff!
No wonder your rates go up!
Now Parker has said what they are going to add it is a real worry.Putting provisions for climate change and whatever that means, is going to make it worse.
He said they are going to streamline it so will be interesting to see the details.
Why would they bother. According to the leftie fruit loops, the world is going to end in less than 12 years. It will take more than 12 years to get any change.
Pray who is this Simon Bridges, of whom you speak?
Lest we forget:
The RMA was passed by National under Simon Upton with Bolger as Labour Lite PM.
Upton is an environmental nazi who left Parliament to become involved with the OECD on ‘Sustainability’ crap.
It was started by Labour pre the 1990 election but passed and championed by National in 1991;
about the same time they destroyed the Auckland Regional Council then claimed in 2008 that Auckland had no central planning so gave us the current Auckland council.
No word if those Green Peace activists have been charged. From comments made by Cindy, it looks like they will not be. Most corrupt government ever.
They have been arrested and charged with trespass.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/395063/greenpeace-activists-that-scaled-wellington-building-arrested
Thank you.
I would have thought there would be a raft of health and safety issues they should be slammed with as well.
I’d be surprised if the window cleaners who work on the side of buildings do not have to go through a lot before they start a job.
I was hoping for a rope malfunction. Always despised Greenpeace.
I did read last night that they had been charged. Pathetic trespassing, just like this one.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/the-wireless/373171/climate-protest-borne-out-of-frustration
The more they get pissed off about “inaction”, the more I smile.
I was hoping for someone to open the window above and take a dump!
LOL that’s good!
How did they get off the building?
I hope that OMV did not open a window for them?
A boiling hot jug from an office window would have warmed them up nicely.
Most high rise buildings’ windows don’t open. Basically, these people were retards as are the other people who adore them.
And another tax on property
For a “most open and transparent government evah” that promised “no new taxes”, there sure are a fuck of a lot of new taxes coming through and appearing in a most underhand and sneaky fashion.
As with all propaganda-driven governments, they snuck this piece of legislation out under cover of the guffawing about socialist Cindy’s ‘reward the poor performers’ Cabinet reshuffle. Apparently in socialist Cindy’s tiny mind, running a rental property business isn’t a business like other businesses and even though it’s a loss leading investment for up to 10 years being a landlord – you can’t claim your losses anymore. Another tick down in business confidence coming and rents jumping up again.
I tell you, these CoL bastards are out to break the economy (well it’s not all just the CoL, they’re getting a lot of help from their silent progressive partners the National party)
Thanks to the awesome Ashley Church for calling this out.
It’s just another case of ideology over practicality.
Spent a shit load on my properties this last year. Made a good loss so next year I can do some more. Makes the houses more valuable and the tenants are going to be paying way more rent. Saw this coming. Lots of houses going Airnb so a real shortage of housing that ain’t going away soon.
When you put non related climate change news in a climate change article.
Animals could also change their shape, but this was not found to be happening in response to climate change.

What’s a London teenager’s favourite rock band?
Black Stabbath.
And Cindy’s is Lyin Maiden?
Jacinda Ardern claims that she ‘Grew up listening to Metallica’. (Remember when she tried to take credit for them touring here? Another total LIE from Ardern)
Oh how I wish someone from our gutless Media would call her out on this…I guarantee should wouldn’t be able to name an album..

Was a DJ, probably could.
She likes shitty New Zealand ‘Hip Hop’ like Homebrew! Trendy ‘DJs’ don’t listen to Rock music or Metal, they sneer at stuff like that.
I freaking guarantee she has never listened to Metallica- She grew up a Bible Basher remember?
Ricky Gervais, pointing out the lose of common sense, and the travesty of ‘Human Rights Commission’.
Yet the Canadian Human Rights Commission accept the complaints by that certain ‘trans’.
The truth only works one way. Diversidy takes priority.
Why wouldn’t a trans gender person get another trans gender person to do it, I am sure that I have read that jobs for tran gender people can be sparse.
LGBTQ……. business opportunity!
Making hay isn’t in snowflakes vocabulary. You can’t bleat about how hard done by you are if there is an obvious solution.
Maybe this is more the problem…….

Pubes, natures cushion lol.
Wax that dudes balls with sulfuric acid. That’ll teach him to complain!
Nah sodium hydroxide is the answer. He would only need to do it once.
He better be careful. If he keeps pushing it, he’ll get a visit from the police and spend some time in gaol. People who have called transgendered by their non-preferred pronouns get in legal trouble. Gervais may be crossing that line…
These people seem to seek power, credence, and they play all sorts of tricks and cover ups to gain the their way.
It seems that they just keep popping up, and looking for positions of power.
Perhaps she should have just said that she had “corporate” experience running a large company and wrapping fish and chips….
My morning post on KB. Not made it past moderation yet but I have hope….
“I have owned firearms since a young age, from memory 16, and have used firearms since before that time.
I have hunted, used them for local pest control and even spent a bit of time target shooting. In all those years, I have never seen an illegal act with or around a firearm and have never seen or been involved with a “firearm safety” issue. My understanding is that all of my friends and associates have had the same experience.
I have taught all my children firearms safety and one of them has taken up the sport of hunting.
I have owned what are now regarded as “illegal” weapons in the past but have not for many years but have no issues with those that do anymore than I have an issue with anyone who owns a car that is capable of doing 300 kph… and I know more than a couple that own those.
To those of you that think the actions taken so far by this government are reasonable I have a warning for you… Your interests may well be next on the list of things that needs to be “re-examined”.
Look at “moderation” here on Kiwiblog and ask why….. Is it because David got sick of people calling ardern a liar or each other arseholes … or is it a desire to avoid closer inspection and monitoring by those who are committed to stamping out “free speech” that doesn’t fit their “agenda”?
This is the New Zealand that we currently have and unless something is dome to reassert the rights of all New Zealanders then we are on a sad path to …………….

The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, a charity established by the UK government, is as follows:[4]
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
First they came for the law abiding
KB is just a place for a quick skim or the odd comment these days the flow of discussion is a joke now combine that with the thread killing clowns that shall remain nameless and a mod with TDS just sad really i do like the way you push the mods though always makes me smile at the creative ways you come up with to bypass their rules
You’re right, the flow is really gone but I do my best for the sake of being a shit… I did enjoy this post.
“Possibly true but… calling an arsehole an arsehole is tremendously satisfying ?
Calling a liar a liar is not a “personal attack” if it is factually correct, the same for the word “idiot” although stuff weren’t keen on me pointing out that they were well stocked with them ?”
Government public relations team rapidly expanding
https://www.rnz.co.nz/audio/player?audio_id=2018705501
“Public relations reason is there ever more information that needs imparting ever more quickly.”
“Journalism professor Jim Tully says having more journalists massaging the same information is not a win.”
Is ‘massaging’ the same thing as a wankfest?
Yes, for those who get paid over $100k – $300k.
And you’d be amazed and disgusted at all the maori named schemes the COL has set up for welfare and housing and poverdy. All staffed by people who would never get a normal job.
Each with a budget of millions and no description of what they will actually do and by when.
We know someone who is recently employed in a large govt department that was formed several years ago but they hadn’t put any processes in place. He’s been employed put the structures in place. Any private business would go bung with such lax management. Good old muggins taxpayers propping unproductive govt workers forever.

Christ, what have they done right?
Popped out a baby?
They are driving the economy into the ground. Both Peters and Ardern are destroying our economy since “capitalism has failed”. While I loathe their goal, they are succeeding at it.
This is not new, it has been ongoing since 2016, so any houses built will not be attributable to this government either.

Fletcher Building said in a statement yesterday it had tried to engage with the group for the last three years, but they had never shown a willingness to find a solution.
It said the 480 home development has been tested in the Māori Land Court, Environment Court, and the United Nations – where all objections have been unsuccessful.
Given a number of your stories here, you really need to become more skeptical or cynical about people around you. Being a bit suspicious of people’s motives will definitely help you (unless done to excess).
Email from David Seymour:
ACT New Zealand
Dear xxx
Thank you again for supporting ACT’s Freedom to Speak campaign.
You wouldn’t know it from listening to the media or other politicians, but free speech is still under threat. Just last month, the Justice Minister and I debated the issue on Stuff. He still wants to shut down ‘hate speech’ and he is moving quickly.
ACT is the only political party standing up for the idea that you should never be punished for expressing an opinion.
Now we’re taking that message on the road. I’ll be attending a number of public meetings throughout the country in August, September and October and talking to New Zealanders about the importance of free speech and how we can defeat the Government’s plans. You’ll be able to find the dates on Facebook or on our website.
How you can help
Organise a public meeting. If you would like me to come to your town and talk about free speech, and you can help with organisation, please email info@act.org.nz.
Share this email. Send this message on to five of your friends and ask them to sign our petition.
Support us. If you would like to help us spread the word about free speech on social media and defeat the Government’s hate speech laws, you can do so here.
Yours sincerely
David Seymour

“It’s not for me to make judgments about other people’s prime ministers. We have democracies for a reason,” she said.”
Lying bitch! She’s been flapping her gums about the President of the United States of America!
Cant she rember what she lies about to repeat it!
Her hypocrasy is for anyone to see if they look for it. Lying comes to her so easily she thinks she is fooling us!
If she remembers anything she said then she remembers her lies !
Simon Bridges says Boris Johnson has ‘buffoon-like quality’ and backs no-deal Brexit
https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/114475808/simon-bridges-calls-boris-johnson-a-buffoon-and-backs-nodeal-brexit?cid=facebook.post&fbclid=IwAR2hm9QK5yoKZV9MOFc6_Eh4DqRoVGmcNldgWoA8EB6k73dGwbLkCHKDJ4I
Oh dear, Cindy is praising Boris and Simon says this shit. Brainless coote.
Fucking idiot Simon- After all his good work this week (He dealt with the Greens mocking him in good humour) he undoes it all by coming out with that clanger???
The Left Wing Media are predictably going to town over it….
Roll him Judith!
C’mon mate! Bridges knows the Media will set traps for him and nail him any opportunity they can…
(Under orders of their Labour Party masters)
This was another bloody amateur fuck-up from Simon…
No matter what Simon says, the msm will twist it.
Yesterday I heard Simon on Magic Radio when discussing the possibility of NZ getting a free trade agreement with the USA say that “Jacinda needs to show respect to the USA because it is an elephant and NZ is a mouse.” Another outlet later reported it as Simon saying that the USA was an elephant who won’t be able to get a free trade agreement to fly. Their fake headline was taken down before I could copy it.
Linguistic ability is not recognised as a ‘disability’. If it was the PM-Select would be included with her inability to pronounce words with a “t” correctly, instead replacing it with a “d”. Not many seem bothered by her bad pronounciation, infact, it appears to be catching by many lefties in the media.
Simon Bridges on Boris. Seems fair and reasonable.
“He really knew his stuff and is the right man for the times in Britain because he is more outward looking. They have been through a grim time and he is going to give them more optimism.”
Johnson’s no-deal position on Brexit would be good for New Zealand because he was outward facing, he said.
“It means he will be very motivated for a free trade agreement and he has made clear we will be one of, if not the first, off the block.”
He would be good for New Zealand because he had a real regard for the Commonwealth, Bridges said.”
Good work Bridges.
Statesman-like until you fucked up with the buffoon comment.
Moron.
I was talking to a guy in the pub last night.
I asked him, “What do you for a living?”
He said, “I’m a plasterer at TVNZ.”
I asked further, “So you work in the scenery department?”
“No, make-up. I do Winston Peters every time he’s interviewed on the news.”
Come on Labour, it’s easy remember?

Much easier to sit on the couch!
Went to WO for a visit and this is not going to end well,
Richard Prosser is asking in backchat about our lovely Mad Queens self admitted mental health issues.
He’s asking how mad she is!
Over at WO someone said that Labours working groups are up to 279 of them and it’s cost us $317 million so far. The numbers have come from National! Bloody hell!
You’re onto it Sooty. Keep us posted on any more details. Poor old taxpayer being bled dry. Easy when there is no accountability.
Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.
Steal a fish from one guy and give it to another–and keep doing that on a daily basis–and you’ll make the first guy pissed off, but you’ll make the second guy lazy and dependent on you. Then you can tell the second guy that the first guy is greedy for wanting to keep the fish he caught. Then the second guy will cheer for you to steal more fish. Then you can prohibit anyone from fishing without getting permission from you. Then you can expand the racket, stealing fish from more people and buying the loyalty of others. Then you can get the recipients of the stolen fish to act as your hired thugs. Then you can … well, you know the rest.”
