  1. Good morning to you all my fellow Ferals, Purebloods, Objectionables and Protestors.

Welcome to another day in jacinda land (The ‘socialist paradise of the South Pacific), and herewith a piece of totally useless trivia to help you get through it::

Today (22/2/22) is a Palindrome Date; a date that is the same when written forwards or backwards!

You REALLY wanted to know that didn’t you (/////), but the date (22/2/22) is actually just like the MP’s now (Supposedly) ‘trapped’ in Parliament! They ALL now look the same, ALL now share the same socialist values, ALL conform with each other (In Lockstep together), and through their (Own) actions can’t go forwards, can’t (‘Won’t’) go backwards and are all totally useless and of no real value as a result. They are ALL: now reduced to being ‘curiosities’. and abberations whose time will pass; they are, if you will ‘Trivial’.

‘Palindrome MP’s’, does have a certain ring to it, but they’d never, ever understand. (‘Arrogance’ does have that effect)…

Enjoy you day and DON’T let the B__________’s grinds you under!!

  2. Business owners had a choice, they couldve supported the protesters and bought about an end to the stupid restrictions that are crippling them or they could push govt to throw a bunch of bunch of monopoly money at them… theyre rejoicing they get a bit of money and still get to keep the crippling restrictions, fucking morons.

Wheres our parrot whys he not sqwauking about this ponzi scheme? This is clearly the one thats going to fall over first.

  3. Rissole has a problem Advice please.

R is bookkeeper for a voluntary organisation.

The meetings are held at premises under the control of a third party – I suspect very friendly with government.

Rules imposed by 3rd party for meetings are 1) Masks and 2) Vaccine passes.

This is of course, a BIG problem for Rissole.

Members are likely to want to uphold the rules.

Rissole believes that all COVID rules will be removed in the next few months, so ‘trouble-making’ may be a vainglorious wank-off from the point of view of the long term.

    What does Rissole do?

  4. Looks like convoy no2 needs to depart a few days earlier then planned to reinforce wellington.

The police are building up, cindys rule will over ride that pushover coster and theyll soon be back to bashing protesters.
If this was about clearing streets they wouldnt be blocking them off with concrete blocks!
Someone needs to deliver a truckload of sheilds to the protesters, simple yet effective part 200L plastic drums so they have at least some protection for when the cops go hot.

Never trust a cop folks esp you lot camped up in welly, theyre just trying to lull you into a false sense of security before they whoop your arse.

    • Some muppet started letting off fireworks and was quickly removed by the protesters themselves.
Chaos ensued, including the meedja wet dreams running for cover from the ‘gunfire’.
Police however never reacted to ‘gunfire’. Nerves of steel, our blue boys and girls. Nerves of steel.
The person with the fireworks was handed to police complete (with his earpiece intact) but they stepped around him to dive at other protestors.
Crikey, you don’t suppose he was one of theirs, do you?

    • Poooo Lice turning up in body Armour with shield and truncheons are provocative and clearly out to intimidate and create violence and that works when its one sided, officers identified photographed and address registered may be less gung ho when faced with a few irate large males at home after this debacle is over but you set the precedent so dont bitch when you get the same treatment.. The issue is ardeerns refusal to accept her mandates are unacceptable and should go now, revenge will follow in 2023 when voters have thee chance to turf her out, perhaps the forthcoming local elections will be a test. Opinion poll trends must be terrifying back benchers and list MPS in the current Govt of clowns.

      • Freethinker,
If the police use those tools NZ will never be the same again.
Women and children are probably the majority of protesters.
Bullying these will light a fire Arden and others won’t be able to put out!

The politicians don’t understand the depth of resentment over mandates but there is also a lot more.
Farmers, Groundswell ,developers RMA, socialists He Puapua , most people three waters .extra Tax etc etc and probably most important Freedom.
COVID is not them main driver for many!

We are sick and tired of being bullied by governments.

“Paul Little: Use the force – bring in army to end Parliament protest”

  6. From bobthebldr above with Sky Australia showing up Ardern Breitbart have once again fair ripped into her with a very honest appraisal of everything that has happened here. The writer Nathaniel Charles certainly writes with a clarity and honesty that is very sadly missing in any of our local publications.
Again the comments are succulent and to the point – a few samples.
“”I have power and I’m going to keep it!”
“Morticia Ardern, like Blackface Trudeau, has a taste and a liking for authoritarianism.
Being ‘left-wing’ no longer means supporting the masses against the state, but quite the reverse; it means chiding the masses for their ‘alleged’ wrong think and siding with the state against them.
I wonder what Marx, Engels, Lenin, Trotski etc etc would make of that?”
“Ardern is probably even more hard-core leftist than Trudeau, and the roots go deep. After all, during the Cold War, New Zealand had the dubious honor of having the largest Communist party of any Anglophone country.”
“Whenever I see face of this pathetic excuse for human being it makes me wonder what the heck is so wrong with Kiwis electing this marxist piece of shit.”
“Marx, Engels, Mao, Castro would all say…”She is the daughter I always dreamed of having”. The left has truly showed its colors over the last two years. They will do anything to stifle the freedom of people.”
“The lead photo of the “Dear Leader” looks just like any other whiney brat you encounter at any university on the planet.”
“The fact that Harvard is honoring this kook tells me that she poses a clear and present danger to liberty.”
“The black widow spider keeps spreading her webs to block NZ’s citizens. Maybe the spider needs to be removed in order to get rid of the webs.”
And my favourite “Wow, are the PEOPLE of New Zealand that much a bunch of sheep? What a disgrace. The US is now in third place behind NZ and Canada in regard to the most inept leader.”

  7. Fresh from the “You couldn’t make this shit up” files:

“Christchurch woman wants free fruit in supermarkets banned after slipping on discarded banana”

You stood on a banana, you clumsy cow. Watch where you’re going, and own your shit. No doubt if you slipped in a cow pat, you’d want to ban cows.

    • I don’t.

Ardern has been flat out over the last few days making sure the public are aware that any actions the police take, are nothing to do with the government. She’s loaded the gun, and is just waiting for Coster to fire it. She will then blame him for the ensuing chaos.

Any blood will be on Ardern’s hands for not hearing the protestors, and her henchmen Mallard, Woods etc for intimidating/smearing them. But the police will take the rap, and Ardern will get what she wants, with the protestors crushed.

It will be a bad day for NZ.

    • This is Jacinda, “the Prime Minister who had nothing to do with anything”.

Labour Sex Camp: A Labour Party issue-nothing to do with me.
Alleged sex pest in her office: An employment matter- nothing to do with me.
Parliament protest: A police operational matter- nothing to do with me.
Spiraling rents: Greedy landlords, nothing to do with the extra costs and standards I’m lumping on them.
Rising house prices: Greedy investors- nothing to do with my government competing against first homebuyers and buying up low costs homes.
And they used to call Key “Teflon John” FFS!

  8. Anyone else notice that Luxon has run the numbers and decided to show us all how ‘down with da peeps’ he is by producing a 16 minute sermon on how much he understands that the Ardern government has disrupted the lives of ordinary New Zealanders – except protesters.
That would be the restrictions on their lives he completely agreed with three days ago.

He must have gotten round to reading some of the polite messages in his inbox (- and maybe he’ll reply to them?) because that rowdy rabble shouldn’t be doing that out there.

    What a fuckwit.
Who the hell is advising him?

    • So it would seem the police are ramping up, tightening beyond the other days normal point of keeping the peace.
Then the police turn around and paint themselves as victims now, to their recent provocations, that made the protesters “holding the line”.
      .
Police this morning have been working to further reduce the perimeter around Parliament, by moving concrete barriers further into areas currently occupied by protesters.
      .
Some officers are equipped with shields, in order to protect themselves from objects thrown by protesters, such as human waste.
      .
A large number of protesters have attempted to obstruct police from moving the concrete barriers.
      .
At least three officers require medical attention after being sprayed with an unknown substance by protesters.
      .
One person has been arrested after attempting to drive a car into a group of police officers.

      https://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/update-protest-activity
      .
So now they have arrested the person in that white car, and now want to charge everybody?

Moving the concrete blocks in, seems to line up with at some stage creating a siege, to limit supplies like water, clothing, food, electricity, fuel, gas, and probably where they figure some excuse, by the over reach of some by law or heath predicated on “precautionary principles” of “safety & health, etc..

      16

      • Reports three cops have been sprayed in the face with an unknown substance. We don’t know what it is. In the next breath they announce “it might be acid”. Still to be verified.

Wouldn’t there have been instant and critical damage if it was acid.

        11

        0

        • WG, there have been claims by the PM and the MSM that excrement has been thrown at Plod, urine has been sprayed on Plod and now acid has been sprayed at Plod.

Where is the physical evidence of any of this?

To throw excrement at Plod would result in Charges of Dispersing a Hazardous Substance. No charges have been laid. Same for spraying urine. Have any charges been laid? Doubt it.

This looks like a false flag put up by the PM and MSM to rile up the public against the Protesters, Regretfully people will fall for it and report is at fact.

          11

          0

          • They’re also standing toe to toe.
How would anyone spray anyone else with anything without getting the wrong targets?
Hell the pigs got pepper spray on themselves while they were roughing up little boys and naked women last week – and they’re highly trained and skilled ////

            7

            0

          • Yes AH, I was instantly onto the poo throwing and the car being driven at the police ever so safely. I hadn’t heard about the fireworks until just now. The cops are useless at this false flag game like lefties are useless at making clever memes. 😂

          • When the sprinklers came on, people filled large containers with the water to weigh down the food tent. That has now been secured to the pavement, so very likely the ‘liquid’ is from Trevvy’s lawn fertiliser.

  9. Evidently the story about throwing human waste related to a bottle of pee that someone threw yesterday.Media made out it was excrement.
That report doesn’t fit what a witness was relating to Chantelle.
Sounds like some fake representation .

    19

    • I was unable to find any verification or evidence that the poo story was true.

Now we also (allegedly) have poo in Welly Harbour, and of course it must be protester poo. In their excitement everybody seems to have forgotten the state of Wellington’s ancient, underfunded waste pipes and their tendency to rupture and spray shit into the streets.

  10. Lefty logic at its finest. The uphill gardener was being interviewed this AM.
Asked why people identified as close contacts have to continue to isolate and not go back to work when they get a negative RAT test. (For a disease so deadly you need a test to know you have it\\)
As usual he evaded the question and said they were going to change the definition of close contacts, but people still needed to isolate.
Weak interviewer did not force him to resolve the obvious idiocy of the rule and why anyone should obey this ridiculous rule.

    • NZH reported two WuFlu-related deaths yesterday.
Readers enquired how this happened so suddenly as no one had been reported as in ICU/HDU.
Questions asked about dying with or from.
NZH became all indignant and accused questioners of lacking respect for the deceased and the bereaved and closed comments.
Pity NZH doesn’t have a modicum of respect for themselves.

  13. The wife has just read a comment on a local Facebook group by someone asking if any other’s ‘tamariki’ have had reactions to the vaccine. The enquirer states that their 6 year old has had a ‘swollen head and been in pain’ since having the injection 2 weeks ago. Doctors don’t know what’s going on and child going to Starship Hospital.

The township has been been bombarded with signs and messages like, “Vax to the Max” “Protect your Whanau – Get Your Tamariki Vaxed”. The stupidity continues.

    • Cindy was ranting yesterday about how important it is that politicians don’t interfere with the police. I find this hilarious when you consider the commissioner is her cousin and he was appointed by her. The left just don’t understand hypocrisy and irony do they.

That is all I can get so far.
Are you having the same result rol?

Well it seems to perversely confirm the twitter grab is bonafide and correct.
Although I would like much more context.

I note the logo does stay constant through out that twitter grab.
The voice remains constant, and he does mention the word tablets.

It would seem that the reporter did not see the finer print. 🙂
“approved for high risk patients in Australian Hospitals”.
Now that Doctor ?Mckeesh? … “these tablets and infusions can make a dramatic difference to their immediate welfare & health & how the feel & also long term benefits as well”

Does that mean it also helps prevent, or even cure “Long covid”?

Is that a “break through”? 🙂

Did that Doctor pull a crafty one? and now it is all being suppressed, censored !
        Good on you Doctor !

      • The link of the “lost signal” now works with a real big but !

        Story clarification:
Last night our report on the Queen contained a shot that should not have been included.
        .
The shot was included as a result of human error.
        .
We were highlighting an approved infusion medication called Sotrovimab and the report accidentally cut to a shot of Stromectol – a product which contains Ivermectin.
        .
As a program we’ve done numerous stories highlighting the concerns around taking Ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19.
        .
We did not intend to suggest Dr Mukesh Hawikerwal endorsed Stromectol.
        .
We’ve apologised to him this morning and he has accepted that apology.
        .
We do not suggest the Queen is using Ivermectin.

        .
Dr Mukesh Haikerwal is that Doctors name and as I noted above, he did say “tablets and infusions”

So was that Doctor threatened with de-registration loss of job, etc.. if he did not accept that apology?

Well I could read the article and the clarification but still can not play the vid. 🙁 as I wanted to see what other tablets they came up with?

  14. anyone heard from any of the first Settler troughers of late?
You know who I mean, Jackson short willy. Tamahere thefreedom fighter and regular money sponge, Henare the makllard bully protester, The ex teacher from north whiose name is so stand out I can’t remember it.

I would also like to point out that people like jacinda will be there as long as she wants, just like mallard and a few more. All top of the list so without removing the list they will be there until they die. Thanks Bolger you rat.

    • Viking, the reason you have not heard from any Early Settler Trougher with a European name, like William Jackson, John Tamahere, Kelvin Davis and Tamati Coffey is because they are down at their respective Banks counting the wads of cash that has been paid to them.

This is why John Tamahere who claims to represent the oppressed and downtrodden drives around the rough terrain of Auckland in a $160,000 Landcruiser. A sure sign that he is concerned for the common man.

      15

      • Kelvin Davis has been in witless protection since his Labour Party victory poem. He is only allowed out occasionally to make a few incoherent mumblings then rapidly put away again. A complete embarrassment even by Labour’s low standard.

    • She has now gone from calling it ‘human excrement’ to ‘human waste’.

Someone with a bit of knowledge of the incident said that it was a bottle of urine thrown yesterday at the Police.

Note how she uses the term ‘human’ to deliberately stir up disgust for the protesters when in reality, she and the Police have no evidence that it was urine, let alone human urine. An honest PM would say that a bottle of liquid that Police believe to be urine was thrown at them. The contents of the bottle have not been analysed.

She is falling all over herself with reasons to justify not talking to protesters which any fool can see. As I said the other day, I’m surprised she hasn’t wheeled out the ‘bayonetting of babies’ .

  15. “A white car was driven into the crowd, allegedly by a member from the protest side, and an unknown substance was thrown into officers’ eyes – a substance Police believe to have been acid.

Why do they discredit themselves by publishing this bullshit? You can see one of these officers sitting quite happily with his eyes open, while and ambo flushes his eyes with a syringe. If that was acid, he’d be writhing on the ground, screaming, Most likely, it was urine..

Also, the car wasn’t driven “into the crowd”, which makes it sound like they were attempting to mow people down. Facts would be nice.

    • Bn it is different, and both striving to understand, knowing there is a major problem, and then trying to figure, define what is going on.
We also know that others are looking to drive in wedges, but for their agenda
More data, information, with reasoning becomes knowledge.
Knowledge which brings truth, and is spread to many, unleashes power, and with greater understanding, can with stand any warped challenge.

Posted yesterday morning and furthers these points of where the splits in the community, and how that has changed.

The world wide “virtual” techno-bureau-crats, the e-mailers with their demanding missives for compliance to newly created controlling regulations on so many issues in our lives.

      From a comment
….. This framing of the issue in terms of Virtuals vs. Physicals cuts right to the heart of the matter. …
…. It’s astonishingly brilliant analytically and clearly simplifies things in a way superior to the Woke vs Anti-Woke or Progressive vs Classical Liberal framing. ……

      https://theupheaval.substack.com/p/reality-honks-back?utm_source=url
      .
      Comments are good too.

Knowing some of these things, ourselves and the others makes one more effective in figuring how to challenge and change the systemic virtual autocratic controlling institutions.

      • Liberals = luberals. Willing to bend over for anyone and anything. The left have become very tribal and brainwashed, having rejected the working class long ago. Logic and argument seem to bounce off their mad tranny worldview.

The protests have an “occupy” vibe. Which was a valid protest too, whose issues have been ignored after the movement was subverted. Those people in 2000, with crushing debt, probably still have crushing debt.

Got to step outside their system. If the truckers refused to deliver food and goods, and delivered to mandate-free businesses only, the autocrats would starve. The practical people who do things, hate this mandate BS. There is a network growing outside the digital passport people. Reject those whom demand covid papers. We have the system and the politicians we deserve. If we change our behaviour and standards, this crap will die.

  16. Its a little funny that the very morning a new zealander with a bigger personal marketing budget and credibility than the pm arrives at the protest the media is only covering poo and police violence stories . Someone must have been watching Coutt’s and his travel plans closely .

  17. Didn’t see that coming.//

Four million people in France woke up to discover that their vaccine passes had been deactivated after the French government reduced the time period between vaccinations from 7 months to 4 months, forcing millions of people into a situation of where they now have to be vaccinated 3 months sooner than previously thought.

This means world governments can deactivate vaccine passes at their discretion classifying millions of vaccinated citizens as unvaccinated overnight in further attempts to force vaccines on the general public.

    https://t.me/laron_g_s/5135

    16

    0

    • Interesting now for France, will the protests build even more?
So that is why countries, the EU are buying enough vaccines to boost about 4 times in 1 year and more.

Ardern dancing around in traffic light phases etc.
Pushing boosters, but not quite saying mandatory.
But keeping on the table the mandates, red light, using peak omicron, but it will as she declared, most likely needed to through the winter for the flue season.

The Wellington protesters have probably held up the push to extend booster vaxxes to being full on mandatory, though I believe there has been a “mission creep” on expiring those vaxx passes into a shorter time when people are boosted..
It is all so unbelievable active in implementing this behind the scenes.

The traffic light system being dependent on the vaccine passport, which will become improved, more automated, and self policing, demanded by ken&karens, business’s, education systems, etc..

So a bigger challenge is coming up, on the expiry for many at end of May.
But hold the line where ever we can.
Also to quietly build support with others, to raise questions, sow that seed truth, to show up the narrative, the governmental controls.

      12

  18. Just another stitch up to say it is dangerous.

….. Wellington Free Ambulance has made the difficult decision to no longer enter the protest area at Parliament. ….
    https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PO2202/S00183/wellington-free-ambulance-protest-action-22-feb.htm

Bought & paid for by the government.

…. additional funding of $850,000 to Wellington Free, as a non-recurring uplift over the next two financial years, will relieve some of the investment made in new technologies and the growth in paramedics to meet increasing changes in demographics and demand.

The contribution will support the service over the next two years as the Ministry of Health…..
    https://www.wfa.org.nz/about-us/news/wellington-free-welcomes-coalition-governments-funding-boost/

The well paid chief executives and office wallahs want to keep feeding from the taxpayer’s trough. 🙁
So they will seem to be due for another top up at the feed trough.

    • Hog, you are not being kind.

I am sure Putin cares passionately about and for the Mahutapotomus as it would be the first time he would have seen a live one in captivity with a Barcode on it’s chin. It is far too traumatic an experience, even for a tough man like Putin to endure.

  19. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has described the behaviour of protesters and attacks on police in Wellington as “disgraceful”.

Ardern is in Auckland speaking to media after visits in the city.

    So she visited court today.
Did the media tell us that.
Never went well so she come s out more vitriolic than ever.
Time to commit hari kari cindyloo.
We would all agree. is her catch phrase. (if you haven’t noticed, but of course we don’t agree.)

    • It is time we elevated civil rights as a key component to decision-making. So far, the influence of the Bill of Rights has been zip.

Are our human rights to be protected? Is the guarantee of our freedom of rights to be so easily watered down by section 5 of the Act so that the Bill of Rights is meaningless?

The pandemic has provided a stress test for the freedom of movement guaranteed to us and the results are not pretty.

The most common way people give up their rights is by thinking that they do not have any. New Zealanders should be justifiably proud and be prepared to defend the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act. It is time we did.

Nothing strengthens authoritarianism so much as silence.

I do not doubt that the Government genuinely thinks it is taking these extreme measures for all the right reasons, but the Government’s rulemaking is no longer proportionate to the risk and does not meet the requirements of the section 5 exemption. The “nanny knows best routine” is no longer justified.

Fourthly, to those who say that our Government’s refrain that they are entitled to claim credit for “keeping people safe” and go even further and demand a continuation of this protection pretense, I say this: It is not the Government’s role to attempt to prevent all death at any cost.

  20. Cant help but laugh…
A few of the karen mums at school last year sniggered mocked and criticised us when they heard we were going to homeschool. Now all the karens are shitting themselves and have withdrawn their kids and illegally homeschooling until the super deadly omicron stops ravaging the country with runny noses.

Theyre absolutely hysterical about it, our neighbour is one of them and i witnessed the fat slug wearing a mask alone last week while standing at the gate waiting for the school bus.
over 45% of the kids are absent from the school a few are isolating as their parents were “pinged” but most have been withdrawn because of fear.

Meanwhile my kids are happy as and learning far more and at a faster pace then they ever would have at school, its very testing for wifey at times tho as my son is a delight at times but she knows its worth it in the long run.

    • The meatheads are likely labour party core voters so wont get harrassed.

Pigs, cindy and trev are only concerned about non labour voters camped out at parliament. It takes alot of effort and millions in taxpayer bribes to msm to paint peacefull protesters in a bad light to justify the impending poolice brutality. An inatentive driver and a few lefty plants managed to be twisted into the most brutal attacks police have ever experience in nz history! Somehow they managed to film the driver but missed all the other incidents that alegedly happened.

The comments on the RH column are interesting, although I would suggest that the of chanting ‘Love and Peace’ is not quite the same (or as effective) as ‘No More Mandates’ or ‘Remove the Mandates’

Is it possible that in fact the protest has ‘lost it’s way ‘ as a result of the first ‘Police’ episode this morning? The protestors actions would seem to indicate that that might be a possibility (Which I hope is NOT the case).

  22. Rodney Hide smashes Ardern

“Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has told protesters at Parliament that they’ve “made their point”, and it’s now “time to go home”.

The Prime Minister is clearly rattled. She doesn’t understand that it is not for her to decide when the protesters go home (other than by her repealing the mandate orders).

She also fails to appreciate that the protesters aren’t outside her window to make a point: they are there to end the mandates.

In that one distinction we see the difference between the protesters and the Prime Minister. Everything the Prime Minister does is to make a point — and only to make a point. She promises to build 100,000 houses or to plant a billion trees or to end child poverty. The promise serves only to make a point: that she cares. That’s it. It is never her intention actually to build the houses or to plant the trees or to feed the kids.

She clearly doesn’t know how to. She doesn’t know how to swing a hammer or to wield the massive machinery of government to make houses. If she did know, she would have done so.

But for her it doesn’t matter. She shows she cares by making her promise. She makes her point. And that for her is enough.

It’s the same with modern day protests. They make their point. And then go home.

The protesters that I know outside Parliament aren’t like that. They have gone to Wellington to end the mandates. They have a purpose. They have a job to do. And they will stay until it’s done.

That’s how they live. That’s how they work. They live with purpose. And they do things. They build houses, plant trees, and feed people. They are very good at what they do. They have to be. They get paid for what they do, not for making a point. They don’t survive with the hot air and endless meetings.

Their world and the Prime Minister’s world normally don’t collide. But the Prime Minister has used her world to turn their world upside down, and inside out, by a bewildering and constantly changing array of covid rules which don’t make sense and which serve no purpose. The protesters I know have had enough. They are fed up. And so they have gone to Wellington to end the mandates.

They haven’t sat at home to organise an online petition or write a Facebook post: they have gone to Parliament’s front lawn, pitched tents and built a town. They are capable. They are committed. The Speaker turns the sprinklers on, they dig drainage trenches and spread straw. The next day more volunteers arrive with generators and dryers to dry their clothes.

They are practical people. They can feed and house an army in a hostile environment.

That’s what’s rattled the Prime Minister. These people are capable. They are capable in a way that she cannot imagine. Speaker Mallard thought it a great joke turning on the sprinklers. That would send them home. Nope. They can handle that. That’s nothing.

They have proved themselves more determined, more capable and more organised than our Parliament and our Government.

The protesters have been brilliantly strategic. They have clearly followed Napoleon’s dictum of never interrupting your enemy when he is making a mistake. The protesters have not interrupted the Prime Minister, the Speaker, Parliament, the Police and the Media as they have piled blunder upon blunder.

The battle has also spectacularly proved non-partisan: all political parties have sadly sided with the government making worthy statements and signing meaningless agreements. The best was the attempt to set conditions for negotiation: that totally misapprehended where the power lay. True to form, the media reported from the bunker believing something momentous had been decided. Oh and ODESC had a meeting.

That doesn’t matter to the people I know camped on the lawn.

That’s normal politics where the vast majority of citizens jog along not that happy with the government but not that unhappy that they would gather up a great swathe of New Zealand and camp indefinitely on the lawn of Parliament. That’s a considerable disgruntlement. And when that happens, the government, and in this instance, Parliament loses.

    The people win. Always.

They win because in a democracy the power lies with the people. Once a significant chunk defy the government, that’s it. It doesn’t take a majority, just a good chunk. And the mandates have mobilised a good chunk and then some.

The politicians can rant and rage and hold meetings. But that’s all they can do.

Our police and army are quite correctly reluctant to do a Tiananmen Square. And so the protesters will win. They are not moving. They are not giving up. And there are plenty of them.

Get rid of a thousand, and there will be another thousand and more likely two thousand. There is a groundswell and they have coalesced around Camp Freedom and the call to dump the mandates.

I have little sympathy for the whinings of Wellingtonians dutifully reported in the media. Their complaints show them to be precious and out-of-touch. Their complaints pale beside the suffering the entire country has endured these past two years. And the disruption is not that much: it’s just a little corner of the city. Plus the protest is right where it should be: outside the seat of power.

Besides, driving the protesters away with force would not make the problem go away. The people I know won’t be cowered. They will set up elsewhere. The mandates just need to be dropped. Easy.

It’s clear the Prime Minister is rattled. She accuses the protesters of bullying. That’s rich from the Prime Minister who declares get vaxxed or lose your job. And become second class. We all enjoyed that irony and out-of-touchness.

And her telling us to go home? To our homes and to our businesses that have been shredded? Nope. It’s more fun being amongst new and deep friends, being free and listening to the music, while all the while getting right up the noses of the dirty sods that have inflicted such pain and suffering on us, our families, our friends and our communities.

The protesters demand is simple and reasonable: dump the mandate. Greens and ACT supporters, Maori and Pakeha, have united in the simple request for one standard of citizenship. It has thrilled my heart to see kiwis side by side and united. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has united people — but to her consternation they have united against her.

The mandates serve no epidemiological purpose. The Prime Minister need simply declare that in hindsight, and out of an abundance of caution, she went too far and that the mandates will end 11:59pm tonight.

The support for mandates would evaporate with her statement. Everyone would be happy. Oh there would be those rightly sheepish for their florid rhetoric against their fellow citizens but all would be forgiven. We would all move on a little freer, our politicians a little more circumspect, and our high and mighty slightly humbled.

We would all have learned that you can only push people so far. We will comply but only so far. There is a breaking point. And we are past that.

The Battle for Molesworth Street has been fought and won. We just have to wait for the Prime Minister to realise it.
It will happen. The only issue is whether it will be days or months. And whether it registers as a blip on Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s leadership or its total destruction. “
