  1. I see that Stuff is now pleased that they are adding more “entertainment” – Hollywood news rubbish.
Well its not replacing their daily Climate Change articles.
The latest one says that 879% of people are worried about climate change.
    What rubbish.
There were 41 comments on the articles before they closed them, and most (just about every) of the comments disagreed wit the article.
And disagreed with what NZ (the COL ) wants to do.’

    • An interesting development: one dying business trying to prop another dying business. And yes, Hollywood is slowly dying. While we hear about the “hits”, movies overall are costing more to produce and bringing in less money.

TV as a medium is also dying. The movie moguls are trying to do a Netflix; which is fragmenting that style of business but more fundamentally, Netflix isn’t making money.

Netflix is trying to mimic Amazon.com & similar: making losses year in and year out until there’s enough momentum that they start making a profit. With the fragmentation happening in that market (Disney, Apple, Amazon etc), what seems more likely is they lose money instead. IOW I doubt this will save Hollywood.

Still, Hollywood could drop their pet ideologies and start making movies that people want to see again. But, I doubt it. Once people are wedded to their ideologies, it’s near impossible to change.

    • Stuff have quite clearly been ordered to push ‘Climate Emergency’ by the Government. Stuff are in desperate financial trouble and are hoping for the Government to purchase them- remember? Now all their gushing over Jacinda makes sense doesn’t it?

    • Thanks for the link. I’ve been watching Paul Joseph Watson for quite some time, and this has to be one of his best commentaries on the fall of western civilisation.

The news from around the internet doesn’t give me much hope, frankly. Sometimes I seriously consider just cutting my connection to it. I’m getting exhausted and maybe its because I’m old that it seems the world has gone mad.

      • No it’s not just you Dave. Take time away from the internet as it It is all very depressing. It would be worse without the knowledge that there are ‘white hats’ both in NZ and internationally fighting on-line for our liberty and freedom of speech. I’m sustained by my belief that the silent majority with common sense will fight back at the polls when we get the chance!

  2. “Plan to tighten gun laws to cost up to $53m over 10 years, Stuart Nash says”

Given the Canadian experience Nash’s figures are likely to be wildly underestimated so the question that needs to be asked is can New Zealand really afford to waste such a vast amount of money on a scheme of such dubious merit or, in fact, no merit at all?

    • I learned a new word today. Just received the following from someone on an e mail list I subscribe to, you might find it of interest/useful too:

      Folks,
Could I draw people’s attention to words I learned during the pathetic display by the PM donning the Muslim hijab and going for full on photo ops!! So pulverized by fear of Muslims/ Islam, she resorted to the hijab as “apotropaic” magic to ward off the evil lurking. This is a resorting to a nonsense good luck charm to save one from evil or bad luck.

Crossing ones fingers and the blue amulet evil eye or not stepping on cracks in concrete path are the same. & here is our leader parading for international attention looking lean and drawn and pulverized by fear. Embarrassing is not a word strong enough for this exhibitionism.

      • You had me excited that Ardern herself had defended wearing the tea towel with the term “apotropaic”. Sadly, she did not (yet). That’s what others have attributed to her wearing a tea towel but she did not utter the word.

Pity. Of course, she isn’t bright enough to know the word.

  3. This Land Protest is fucking painful. I see the Media are still portraying it as ‘Peaceful’ despite the arrival of Gang Members and the ferals setting their dogs on Police yesterday….
They should all be removed forcibly. What happens if these activists next decide they want your family home?

What a rort and showing no sign of finishing anytime soon.
Will Labour even introduce them to law before the next election.
Must be a good money earner for the party toadies!
When the toadies go home, Wellington will go into a tail spin, crash and burn! It’ going to be a desert!

    • Tova and the COL are certainly working hard to rubbish National whenever THEIR polling shows Simon with his leadership figures above Cindy’s. Wasn’t it lucky for Labour when Tova received a ‘leak’ about Simon’s massaged travel expenses just as his leadership was above Labour’s polling, and JLR went bonkers just as Simon was getting a grip in the polls, and when Cindy had a chance to show how empathetic she could be in Christchurch when Simon was again in front in the polls. What do they say, there is no such thing as coincidence!

      0

      0

      • The thing is the polling is irrelevant at this stage. The media is indulging in a “love fest” with ardern and countering that will be impossible for any leader of the National Party. “what’s in it for wynston” is also commanding a “respect” from the media well above his entitlement. As an example, look at the “furore” over Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination. The media were all over his past and launched a campaign to sink the nomination over something he “may” have done over 30 years ago yet we have in “what’s in for wynston” the most venal, spiteful, dishonest and grasping politician we have ever seen and his many past misdemeanors including many “racist” comments and attacks are almost completely ignored by the media.

In the immediate future little will change but ardern will slowly lose her “capital” with the press and 2020 will bring the focus away from babies and bullshit and hopefully onto the task ahead to rescue NZ from ardern’s destruction.

        • Care to place a lazy $50 on that last para Tall Man?

I contend the media will be lazy lying feckers as they have been for a long time now.
They might drop in the occasional pro Labour Lite article but it will be offset with 4+ counter articles of vacant drivel and anti-fact.

  5. Peter Ellis files asks Supreme Court to hear his appeal over Civic Creche convictions
    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/114369189/peter-ellis-asks-supreme-court-to-hear-his-appeal-over-civic-creche-convictions

“Peter Ellis is fighting to clear his name some 26 years after he was convicted of sex offences against seven children at the Christchurch Civic Creche. Supporters say Ellis – who has served his prison sentence and lives quietly in rural Canterbury – hopes to clear his name before he dies.
He has filed an application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court. He lost his case in the Court of Appeal nearly 20 years ago, in October 1999.”

” A senior Christchurch lawyer who had previously represented Ellis, Nigel Hampton, QC, has continued to take an interest. I think it is a festering sore,” he said recently.”

I hope he is successful. His conviction is black mark on the justice system of this country

  6. I know Peter Ellis. The whole sorry saga was a complete and utter travesty.
I hope he gets his name cleared and millions of dollars in compensation.

DigNap..in all the years that Peter spent in jail, he was never beaten up or assaulted.
He lives in a very supportive community.

        • I read Lynley Hood’s book a long time ago and was amazed at the absolute rubbish that was spoken about Mr Ellis in court. It was impossible for the abuse to have taken place in those places. Those children were coached to say those things. It reminds me of repressed memory that was popular and many suddenly found they had been abused though they had no knowledge of it prior to going to the counsellors. I cannot understand how a jury could possibly have convicted Peter Ellis. I feel so sad for him people wrecked his life for no reason other than their 15 minutes of fame. The whole process was absolutely corrupt

  7. I see Get Stuffed is promoting fake news again. This time over trees are telling us the warming is different.

Quite probably the most shocking thing that came from the ClimateGate emails is the admonition that trees post 1960 weren’t “behaving”. It highlighted a problem with the “hockey stick” graph that Michael Mann etc were trying to hide. That Mann’s bristlecone tree data stops in 1960 and he appends a different data source to continue his trend line. Why? After 1960, his tree thermometers go in the wrong direction.

To get around it, he just clipped the tree data off.

It’s also a lie to use completely different data to mix and match.

It was and is complete dishonesty.

On a pleasing note Mann lost to climate scientist Tim Ball in his legal case. Where Ball quipped “Mann should be in the State Pen, not Penn State”. (Mann works at Penn State).

  9. From our friends at Hobsons Pledge.

    Friend —

    Brash: Questions for Ihumatao protesters

“Ihumatao protest leader Pania Newton should explain why the land she says was confiscated does not appear on a map of post-1840 government confiscations, Hobson’s Pledge spokesman Don Brash said today.

That map on the “Confiscation” page of the Government’s Te Ara Encyclopaedia at https://teara.govt.nz/en/zoomify/25776/land-confiscation shows all confiscation areas in the North Island.

Ihumatao, which is to the west of Auckland Airport on the Mangere side of Manukau Harbour, is far away from the confiscation line that extends only to the southern shore of that harbour, Dr Brash said.

“A further question is whether Pania Newton’s family lodged this claim by the deadline of September 1, 2008,” he asked. “If they did, what happened? If they did not, why not?”

A third question concerns the number of full and final treaty settlements that have been made for the Auckland area.

“Was this alleged confiscation included in any of those settlements, or in any settlement that is currently being finalised?” Dr Brash asked.

“If it has been included and if compensation has been paid, what has happened to that compensation?” he said.

  11. Good afternoon fellow YSBers.
If any of you have ‘techno-whizzy’skills could I impose on you for a little advice?
I am someone who has a microwave oven for the clock
Over the last couple of hours someone has been trying to call my mobile phone- ring once then hang up – from Algeria, Sudan, Yemen, Poland and USA.
I wonder if this is to do with Great Uncle Bulgaria’s vast estate he has willed to me, or should I be concerned about someone trying to access stuff on my phone?

    0

    0

    • Yes, that’s what I thought but they don’t ring for long enough for me to answer and hear nice things about my physical attributes, and since I don’t get to answer – and probably won’t – the chances of me becoming gullible and agreeing to pay them $$ are diminished. And if that isn’t the Sacramento, what is?
What I want to know is are they sneaking into my identity to snaffle my tax refund, or charge strange things to my credit card?
The phone used to be just a phone, but the phone in our pockets these days is better than what guided Apollo to the moon and back.

    • The idea behind this scam is to get you tempted to call back the number to try to find who it is is.
      DO NOT.

This will charge up a bill to you phone number and is like an 0900 number that will rack up by the minute.

      https://www.spark.co.nz/scamalerts

      Wangiri (“one ring”)
This is when a scammer bulk calls from overseas using a premium service and hangs up after a couple of rings. They call from a premium number, like an 0900 number. Calls are usually billed from the time they’re answered so these calls have no cost to the scammer.

They usually target mobile phones as it is likely that a mobile phone has caller ID. The goal for the scammer is to entice people to call back the number upon seeing a missed call. When someone calls back the number they’re charged the premium rates. The scammers make money by collecting on these calls via the premium rates charged.

But if there were hundreds or thousands of such emails, then surely they will pass it on to Ardern.
And like you I want her to get involved just to show how far out of her depth she will be.
        PS
In my email I asked if she would be consulting on it, or setting up a working group?

    • Muslim terrorists often pick a date that has historical significance, no matter how obscure to the rest of us, for their attacks. I wonder if Tarrant had in mind the date when he planned his attack. I do not recall seeing anything about the Ides of March in his manifesto but it is four months now since I read it and, thanks to our “accidental” Prime Minister (I do like that phrase and will use it often going forward), I am no longer allowed, on pain of prison time, to refresh my memory.

  15. In case you missed this on “another” blog site:

No Joke: the U.N. just condemned Israel as the world’s only violator of women’s rights, backed by votes of council members Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan & Yemen.

Women in Israel have more rights than almost every country in the world. Just ask their husbands. LOL!

They are equals in all respects to men including having the right to a university education and to join the IDF.

Look at who voted YES, who voted against, and the GUTLESS SHITS that abstained.

YES: Andorra, Angola, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Benin, Cambodia, China, Colombia, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, France, Ghana, India, Iran, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Luxembourg, Mali, Malta, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, Paraguay, Philippines, South Korea, Russia, St. Vincent, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Yemen.

    NO: United States and Canada

ABSTAIN: Brazil, Cameroon, Germany, Jamaica, Mexico, Romania, Togo, Ukraine, and UNITED KINGDOM.

WHY are we paying into the UN?

  16. So more lies from Twyford and ardern.
Safety measures introduced between Hamilton and Te Awamutu on State Highway 3 have already made a difference.

New wire barriers down a stretch of SH3 just outside Ōhaupō have been hit 40 times, potentially preventing at least that many deaths or serious injuries say roading officials.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, along with Transport Minister Phil Twyford and Associate Transport Minister Julie Anne Genter were at the Jary Rd turn-bay area to view the completed work on Thursday.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/114492202/safety-measures-on-state-highways-boosted-to-over-3000-km
Watch the crap on the video and then of course there is always the truth.
BACK IN 2019 LOCAL RESIDENTS objected about the barriers being installed as they were concerned about how people were going to cross the road and access local businesses. There were also concerns the barriers would cause more accidents and emergency services might have trouble getting access.

”The public were generally feeling that they had a safe four-lane highway and obviously weren’t aware of the accidents that were happening,” Mylchreest said.

so was NOT A Labour Green effort but was started under national.
    fucking lying tart.

  17. “You see,” the English Lord told his guest, “everything in this
castle was built the hard way. Life is not worth living
without challenge! The land on which it was raised? A swamp.
I had it drained then filled with rocks & timber.

These beams,” he gestured grandly, “came from trees cut in
a woods in Spain. The stone was quarried in Africa under the
    very eyes of cannibals.”

Just then a beautiful young woman walked over. The English
Lord announced, “This is my daughter Elizabeth.”

Returning the guest’s curious stare, the English Lord
confided, “Yes…..standing up in a canoe.”
