Indo-Greek coins displaying a very high level of Hellenistic artistry first came to the attention of numismatics in the early nineteenth century, due to the discoveries of an officer of the East India Company, who was an Oriental scholar and collector of antiquities.
At this time, it was known from Classical sources that the Achaemenid Persian Empire control of regions in the North-western Indian subcontinent formally ended around the time of the Macedonian conquest of the Persians by Alexander the Great followed by his invasion of India in 326 BC and that Greek kingdoms or Yavanas (largely forgotten or considered semi-legendary) had lingered on for a period after that.
Although the Persians used cuneiform for monumental public inscriptions, a script called Kharoṣṭhī was used in administrative work. The first coins to bear legends in this script were those of the Indo-Greeks.
My proposed presentation would cover:
The fascinating history of the discovery of this series.
The origins of the Kharoṣṭhī script and these still-mysterious Greek Kingdoms.

Covid 19 Omicron outbreak: Two government agencies review vaccine policies following mandate announcement
Confusion reigns for workers fired from their jobs because of vaccine mandates, while two government agencies that shed dozens of staff are reviewing their Covid guidance and vaccination policies.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced this week that vaccine mandates would no longer be required in education, police and Defence workforces and businesses using vaccine passes from April 4. They would still be required in health and aged care, Corrections and border workforces.
Public Service Commissioner Peter Hughes said the public sector was in a good position because of high vaccination rates and mandates for some agencies.
But he added potentially rehiring workers let go because of vaccine mandates was “a matter for each agency chief executive to consider”.

A separate issue is whether an individual can claim affiliation to multiple iwi.
From the Japanese perspective of only serving one master, I would suggest that an individual can only belong to one iwi (either through birth or through marriage).
If you were a member of multiple iwi, you could claim a portion of taxpayers’ money doled out to each iwi, which doesn’t seem right.
After a child is born, the parents would have a finite amount of time to submit to the government their “whakapapa certification” so that the child could be registered with one iwi. Failure to do so would mean the child could not be considered to be a registered iwi member in the eyes of the State or government departments (ever).
Since all have the dreaded whitey blood coursing through their veins, I guess the biggest iwi will be ngati pakeha.
It will depend whether the “drop of blood” doctrine is applied.
In my opinion the State should only recognize “New Zealanders.”
If an individual wishes to associate themselves with a particular ethnic group through whatever connection (blood, marriage or self-identification) then that is a private matter between the individual and the group concerned. It is not the business of the State.

The Government has filed an appeal against a High Court decision that determined vaccine mandates imposed on the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) and police were an unjustified incursion on the Bill of Rights.
Crown Law and the Court of Appeal confirmed to the Herald this afternoon that an appeal has been filed.
“The Government has filed an appeal relating to the Yardley judgment on points of law,” a Crown Law spokesperson said.
“The appeal is in no way an attempt to reverse the removal of mandates on the workforces covered by the Yardley decision and there is no intention to reinstate those mandates on those workforces.”
