We have fibre into the house and I still have a cable to my PC (which has not been affected or at least not very much) but our other devices which operate on wireless from the modem have all been affected (laptop, phones and wifes ipad mini). I have tried turning the power to the modem off and on after waiting a few minutes.No change. We are with Spark.
Any ideas out there?
Change over to vodafone and experience near constant issues and blackouts, then you switch back to spark you wont complain at a few niggles.
Our internets been dropping out and doing all sorts of crap lately too, we spark aswell. Probs find weve been committing too many thought crimes and theyre trying to limit the timevwe spend accessing “dissinformation”…
I have also had intermittent outages and slow speeds. I don’t know what the issue is, but it seems non provider specific. I am with Compass. However, even when using the phone with 2 degrees as a hot spot, the internet is iffy. I suspect it may be an exchange or something more central than a local issue.
Speedtests also show strange results, starts fine then drops off. I am only on VDSL so I never get better than 14mbs but it will start high then drop down to about 1mbs. I gave not enquired about it. Today it seems stable.
Touch wood I may have solved the issue. I took all the power connections out of the wall socket and then waited for a few minutes. I then reconnected the fibre box which in our case is attached to the wall and waited until all the relevant lights were on –this took several minutes. I then reconnected power to the modem. This procedure seems to have done the trick Sites that were taking ages to load before doing this are loading as they should again.
Rebooting modems occasionally is always a good idea. I don’t have to bother as we have had so many fucking power outages recently……
It could be that you need to clear your cache. BE CAREFUL though that you don’t clear cookies and passwords. Its pain if you do.
You may also need to defrag your drive. Both only take a few minutes to do.
