Our mothers told us to just get on with stuff and we did. They had lived through the war when things were tough. I’m sure there were a few women who couldn’t cope with anything, but they were few and far between.   5. The revelation that the PM ignored the advice of her top health officials Caroline McElnay and Ashley Bloomfield back in November when they advised Cabinet that “MIQ was no longer justified on public health grounds”, has exposed the totalitarian rabbit hole we have all been taken down.
    If the top health officials advised Cabinet of this back in November why did they continue to inhibit kiwi’s freedoms and cost our country hundreds of millions? Why did they continue to tell us that decisions were made based only on ‘health advice’ and ‘saving lives’ when their own top health officials said the exact opposite?
    The arrogance and deception exhibited by this govt has been exposed – and it has cost many kiwis with their freedoms, liberties, jobs, businesses, and ultimately will cost us all in our pockets.
    The curtain has been pulled back and it has shown the machinations of this govt aren’t as pure as the podium wants us all to believe they are.

        – Force people to self-fund their own retirements?
        – Make more jobs available to the elderly?
        – Introduce voluntary euthanasia coupled with a reduction in death duties if you take the poison pill (e.g., if you are old and requiring expensive medical care, the State will reduce your death duties by half if you opt out now)

            BTW, are you familiar with the concept of “health span”?
            Health span : the length of time in one’s life during which an individual is in reasonably good health.
            I would define this as being able to live independently (although you may no longer be able to drive, and you may need to get cleaners to visit from time to time to help with difficult or risky cleaning (like getting leaves out of gutters, etc.).

            Here is some old data from Japan (from 2016)
            Tokyo, March 9 (Jiji Press)—The health span is put at 72.14 years for Japanese men in 2016 and 74.79 years for women.

            Here is the kicker
            In 2016, the average life expectancy for Japanese men stood at 80.98 years, and that for women at 87.14 years.

            So, the most important question is what is the difference in years between “lifespan” and “health span”?
            For Japanese men it is (see data above) 80.98 – 72.14 = 8.84 years of being old and unwell (everyone’s fear for their old age).
            But for Japanese women, the period of being a sick old lady is far longer: 87.14 – 74.79 = 12.35 years

            Conclusion: Women live much longer than men, but they don’t live healthy much longer than men.

    If the top health officials advised Cabinet of this back in November why did they continue to inhibit kiwi’s freedoms and cost our country hundreds of millions? Why did they continue to tell us that decisions were made based only on ‘health advice’ and ‘saving lives’ when their own top health officials said the exact opposite?
    The arrogance and deception exhibited by this govt has been exposed – and it has cost many kiwis with their freedoms, liberties, jobs, businesses, and ultimately will cost us all in our pockets.
    The curtain has been pulled back and it has shown the machinations of this govt aren’t as pure as the podium wants us all to believe they are.
    The real question is if it wasn’t for health reasons – then why?
