Morning all, Turned out nice again.
New Zealand made negative headlines in the BBC today. Kiwis need a path out of the cost of living crisis – and not one that leads to Australia.
Very sad to see the BBC comparing the NZ economy to the economies of Brazil, Italy, Ghana and Thailand. Thank you Jacinda and Labour – you’ve dragged Kiwis backwards.

The Farming Tax is fast approaching, with the date for finalising agricultural emissions pricing options under the He Waka Eke Noa (HWEN) Partnership set for 31 May.
The public debate about agricultural emissions pricing has been sorely lacking in serious discussion about how pricing (taxing) emissions will affect grassroots farmers and growers and devoid of rigorous consideration about how pricing will actually reduce global emissions.
Between many of the HWEN Partner organisations preferring to apologise for Government policy, rather than represent their farmers and growers, and a complicit mainstream media treating any criticism of the Government’s particular climate policy as denying climate change, the New Zealand public and agriculture sector have been left with a poor excuse for a public policy debate.
That’s why we wrote an open letter to the New Zealand Media, demanding fair coverage of the alternatives to the Government’s emissions pricing (taxing) plans and explaining where they’ve gone wrong.
The policies of the New Zealand Government don’t determine how much food the world eats, but they do decide whether or not that food is produced by the most emissions efficient food-producers in the world, New Zealand farmers and growers.
Punishing our domestic agriculture sector with a tax on emissions will just increase global emissions, as the less efficient foreign agriculture sectors take up the room left in the market, all the while making New Zealand poorer.
Read our open letter to the media below.
Thank you for your support.
Kind regards
Bryce, Laurie, Mel, and the team at Groundswell NZ

Dear New Zealand Media
Agricultural emissions pricing and its coverage in media
Final recommendations from the He Waka Eke Noa (HWEN) agricultural emissions pricing scheme are due to be presented to the Government by 31st of May. Groundswell NZ is strongly opposed to putting a price on farm emissions, we represent a widely shared view among grassroots farmers in New Zealand. Our request to all media is that farmers’ concerns with emissions policy be given a fair hearing in the court of public opinion. In some cases reporting has described farmers as major polluters unwilling to change their practices, this is an unfair take on the farmer perspective.
Many farmers have been addressing environmental issues, including emissions, for decades through initiatives such as Catchment Board tree plantings and the 2.5 million hectares of native vegetation on private land. Farmers are ready and willing to further reduce farm emissions but they want a policy that will work, HWEN is not that policy.
The HWEN pricing mechanism will create a multitude of perverse outcomes, many of which have not been well explained to the New Zealand public. Traditional industry groups have let farmers down in this respect, so Groundswell NZ is doing what we can to give them a voice. Our hope is that this will create a better understanding between farmers and the public, allowing for better policy to be implemented. A contracting rural economy will affect all New Zealanders, increasing food prices, sending jobs offshore, growing the trade deficit, and reducing the tax revenue that supports our standard of living. It is critical for our country to get emissions policy right.
Key concerns with HWEN that have not been satisfactorily addressed are listed below:
Taxing the most efficient producers in the world will result in emissions leakage, this is where New Zealand production is replaced by less efficient overseas production, leading to an increase in global emissions.
HWEN will reduce New Zealand’s contribution to global food supply during a developing food crisis. The UN has clearly stated that climate policy should not compromise food production, this aspect of the Paris Agreement has been selectively ignored by our Government.
HWEN will both reduce the availability and increase the price of local produce in supermarkets. Food imports, which typically have a higher GHG footprint, will not be taxed on their emissions. This will, in fact, increase the GHG footprint of agricultural goods consumed in New Zealand.
There are few proven mitigation technologies available to help farmers reduce emissions that have not already been widely implemented. Over 10 years, $200 million has been spent on research with little in the way of viable options produced. Without technology, emissions reductions mean farmers must cull animals to meet Government reduction targets.
A broad-based emissions tax is a highly impractical mechanism for incentivising production efficiency. Every farm is different and production efficiency will naturally vary according to farm type. HWEN will pick winners and losers often based on limitations outside the control of farmers.
The majority of on farm carbon sequestration produced by trees is excluded by HWEN.
Farmers question why $1 billion per year of ETS funds will be sent overseas when there is both capacity and need to incentivise native plantings, following the ‘right tree right place’ principle, in this country.
The proposed pricing mechanism will put an unsustainable strain on many extensive sheep and beef farm finances. Many will be forced to sell up to carbon farming ventures.
Pricing farm emissions will take money away from other on-farm environmental spending.
The time spent on compliance is already putting a significant burden on farmers.
He Waka Eke Noa has been set up for the explicit purpose of taxing farmers. This has obstructed industry leaders and Government from looking objectively at the most effective ways to reduce farm emissions. Groundswell NZ believes a more considered approach will achieve better outcomes for farmers and the environment.
It is often reported that agriculture contributes around half of New Zealand’s total emissions. This is an overly simplistic way to describe agriculture’s effect on climate. Around 80% of agriculture’s emissions are biogenic Methane, these emissions have remained largely stable since 1990 and contribute very little if any additional warming to the atmosphere. Agriculture’s Methane emissions must only reduce by 0.3% per year to ensure no additional warming. Much like a CO2 emitter that reaches net zero, the historic warming associated with that business remains in the atmosphere, but no further warming is produced. Balanced reporting on agriculture’s gross emissions should contain a sentence noting that 80% of those emissions are not adding to further climate change.
Another point of contention for many farmers is the reporting of gross emissions without mention of the millions of hectares of farm trees that help offset agriculture’s emissions. Their offsetting capability is significant – a point that has been acknowledged by the He Waka Eke Noa Partnership. Due to the lack of research funding allocated towards quantifying the sequestration these trees offer, we accept it is difficult to report on sequestration in any detail. In our view, some acknowledgement that agriculture also sequesters large amounts of CO2, which is not currently included in emissions budgets, would be important context to include.
Traditional rural advocates, such as DairyNZ and Beef & Lamb, have not been challenging the ongoing misrepresentation of agricultural emissions in the media. Farmers are greatly frustrated by this, as it has allowed the New Zealand public to develop a misleading impression of our industry’s effect on climate change. Please do not assume inaction by some rural advocates as an acceptance that current reporting provides a fair and balanced portrayal of our industry.
All media outlets are welcome to contact Groundswell NZ for more details on our emissions proposals and why we strongly disagree with the current policy strategy for agricultural emissions.
Yours faithfully
Groundswell NZ

So much for signing the Paris Climate Accord and that section of the Accord, that says no Carbon Tax on food production.
Agreements obviously mean Jack-Shit to this Government.
And where will any Tax collected probably go, that this Government collects.
1. To paying Carbon Credits to wealthy foreign Carbon Farmers like Ikea’s Owners who purchased Wisp Hill Station in Southland for Carbon Farming.
2. Like the purchases of Carbon Credits from overseas entities like this Government has done in Brazil to offset this Governments perceived Carbon Emissions.
3. To assist with funding the Billion Dollars per year this Government sends to the UN for redistribution to so called poorer countries.
So Taxing productive food producers in New Zealand, to spend money on non productive dreams and send money out of this country is just criminal, but this Government will not be held to account.
To me, it is bordering on Treason.

Elon Musk Responds After Overwhelmingly Winning Poll Against AOC
By Gary Bai
May 30, 2022 Updated: May 31, 2022
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has responded after comfortably winning a popularity poll on Twitter between himself and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
David Weissman, a Twitter user who describes himself as a “former Republican, former Trump supporter, and proud Liberal Dem,” initiated the vote after Musk invited Ocasio-Cortez to conduct a poll on Twitter comparing the popularity of politicians and billionaires.
“Let’s prove how phony the right’s ridiculous polls are by doing one of our own. Who do you trust more,” Weissman wrote in a May 27 poll on Twitter. The two choices in the poll are “Elon Musk” and “AOC.”
After more than 370,000 Twitter users voted, the end result was about an 80–20 split in favor of Musk.

Yeah, but if they’d put him up against a decent, trustworthy Democrat known for integrity and honesty… oh, right.
A lack of consensus from Pacific nations has forced Beijing to shelve a sweeping security and economic deal with the region, following a meeting between foreign ministers on May 30.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is midway through an eight-nation tour of the region where Beijing has been attempting to tighten alliances with the island nations.
The China-Pacific Island Countries Common Development Vision, which was leaked last week, covers cooperation across 10 Pacific nations in the fields of free trade, fisheries, security, cyber, and maritime mapping and would have been a significant step forward for the Chinese Communist Party’s ambitions in the region.
David Panuelo, president of the Federated States of Micronesia, has been vocal in his opposition to the regional deal, writing to 21 Pacific leaders saying the pact could trigger a new “Cold War” between Beijing and democratic nations.
He said the deal could draw Pacific nations “very close into Beijing’s orbit, intrinsically tying the whole of our economies and societies to them.”
“The practical impacts, however, of Chinese control over our communications infrastructure, our ocean territory and the resources within them, and our security space, aside from impacts on our sovereignty, is that it increases the chances of China getting into conflict with Australia, Japan, the United States, and New Zealand,” he said.

No noise from our scumbag hori about this. but looks like it going in the right direction.
China of course won’t stop here.
Jacinda would sell us out.
At the drop of a hat!
Just as well ninny mahoota turned up and ha talks with them and sorted that shit out! Cindy will show thanks for her intuitive!
Nania has spent days looking at a Map of the Pacific to try and locate these countries.
She is still trying to figure out what the Legend on the Map is and means.
Nah, she’s trying to work out how she can get koha from the chinks in exchange for her support in their attempted takeover of the pacific.
She has form in this sort of thing, didn’t you know///
She wouldn’t do that would she? AH feigns surprise.
Yep. Straight into the family treasure chest!
Morning Troopers,
I’ve not defending the ex TVNZ host, but let’s get things in perspective. How the hell can you come forward with this?
The woman who worked with Santamaria when he was a young reporter at TV3 in the late 1990s said he approached her on LinkedIn about five years ago with a message he had since deleted.
“I remember it said ‘I used to watch you walk across the newsroom floor,'” she said.
“It went on to say something else, which I can’t remember the exact wording of, to the effect of I thought you were …. really hot or gorgeous or something like that.”
The message ended with an emoji with heart-shaped eyes, she said.”
I suspect he pissed off the local feminazis off by being employed without their blessing. His real crime would appear to not be gay,Indian or butch.
Or a native
er, I think he is Indian T
Born here but probably wrong caste or something like that. He was always on a hiding to nothing in the woke stakes following in Campbell’s footsteps anyway.
Agreed, many a work romance has started the same way. What a beat up especially when you think how the Parliamentary affairs were dealt with.
They won’t be happy until he has suicided now.
If you get that much grief for sending an emoji with heart-shaped eyes, you might as well just send a dick pic.
It wouldn’t be a very big pic. In a survey of dick lengths Equador provided a very commendable average erection of 17.61cm. Regrettably India is well down the list at 13.71cm while Hunty’s lady boys barely register at 11.45cm. 🙂

Yup. Might as well be hung like a sheep as a lamb.
Reeks of Hatchet
Won’t be changing my long-held habit of not partaking in TV1.
(Except for The Chase)
Tipping Point?
What’s that?
Is it daytime tv?
Just before the Chase.
Playing woke = lefty eating lefty. Who cares what the guy did or didnt do its a win for us normal sane folk as we watch the clowns devour each other over nothing.
Bring back Paul Henry
Dougal Stevenson would put them straight.
Please, please not CAMPbell.
Nah, he s a crass arse as well.
It is a useful gossipy “squirrel” story to avert our eyes from political storms that may damage the clown car like Maahoooota’s 3 waters, nepotism and her handling or avoidance of the China Pacific crisis. Avoiding the WHO agreement to sell control of our health, the state of our hospitals, maori health apartheid, the education system, keeping the lid on the anti-covid movement, jabbing our kids and reboosting those still lining up and pushing to give the jab to the holdouts. The economy, supply lines, rising inflation and mortgages…. Not to mention the merging of TVNZ and RNZ to form a more streamlined taxpayer funded propaganda service to control the good sheep of NZ.
WG, that is all it is, a squirrel story to deflect from the Governments ineptitude and the expensive and pointless TVNZ/RNZ merger etc.
Because he is a male, he is now doomed. But why is the fat Poof, Robertson getting involved in an employment issue when he is not the employer?
While dl is out of the country Robbo is taking all opportunities to grab the microphone. Press conferences are useful for cementing his obvious leadership skills in the minds of compliant sheep. Robbo would walk over broken glass or trample his bestie while her back is turned to finally grab the top job. Can’t you see how wonderful he would be. /////////
Her European ancestors must be rolling in their graves.
Once when I was somewhat younger than I am now, there were plenty of occasions when what is considered inappropriate now was bandied about, and women were equal to men in these chat up lines or remarks, life was so much easier then. You were able to say someone looked nice without everyone screaming abuse. FFS This is all out of control. And we only have this woman’s word for what happened. The male of the species has no comeback on any of these issues. Problem is for him was he wasn’t a paid up member of the Liarbour party. FFFJA
Yep, if any of these people were transported back to the office environment of the 70’s or 80’s they would have an attack of the vapours just overhearing usual office banter.
No-one took offense at the usual conversations and if anyone went a bit far they were normally dealt to by the person concerned and not tattled to HR.
I reckon he has pissed off some two ton butt ugly tessy because she missed out and is pissed off and so is her covern!
Correct Sooty, she was 2 axe handles across the arse.
Spare a thought for the men who worked in the ciggy factories and places where women dominated the work force. It was rough. There were plenty of horny women around who missed their share during war years and the were plenty after anything they could get. Guys quit because to their behaviour. Young ones today are not much better.
So I suppose the chat up line “Hi, do you fuck on first dates?” is out then?
90% of the #metoo outrage was from women who chose the slut path to fame. This guy likely a scumbag, in a pool of scumbags. Sort of like abortion outrage. Nothing like a dollop of guilt to get the protestors raging.
Worth taking the few minutes to read.
Elon Musk Is Taking a Page From Donald Trump’s Book: Part II
Musk’s acquisition of Twitter could be just the start of his public service to America
There are a number of parallels between the careers of these two billionaires.
This is the second part of a two-part series that compares Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Part one examined Musk’s summary offer to acquire Twitter, why the left is apoplectic about it, and what he has been exposing about Twitter along the way. This part compares the careers and motivations of the two billionaires. It looks at what very well could be Musk’s real purpose behind the Twitter proffer, as well as his future possibilities for public service.

That would really piss the literazi off.
While looking online and seeing what is really happening in the Ukraine, I’m learning what is involved with modern warfare between two modern militaries. Russia is carefully kicking arse, but Ukraine is making great use of drones. Then I look at our own military forces and see how far behind we have become. We need to invest in some serious money to bring all three services up to modern advanced fighting capabilities if we are ever to go to either war or need to assert some force somewhere, without putting our troops into serious harms way. Helen Clark was such an idiot to get rid of the air combat wing, and we need our navies need to increase both anti-ship, and anti-air defence, the army to get more drones of various types, along with developing an automatic counter-battery system for our artillery.
As it stands, I feel like our defence forces are like they were pre WWII.
Well we couldve easily done that with the money this lot have blown in the last few years, itll never ever happen as all our defence force is is a total joke. We deliver water and reroof some grass huts after a storm on pacific islands, maybe sometimes go to afghanistan to rape or kill a few civilians.
At this point we may as well just scrap our defence force altogether and just stack the funding away for a rainy day when we need to bring in mercenaries.
Yesterday the Te mana left Canada after a 3 year refit.

Thanks Viking. Laughed my head off. Good for the soul. Isn’t he great.
Uh-oh. Fat Fairy won’t want to be hearing this. But he ignores everything Treasury says anyway, knowing better and all. Increased fuel tax right now would go down like a lead balloon.
Guess the roads will just fall into a worse state of disrepair.
All that spending’s getting us in a power of shit, Grant.
“Treasury has warned the fast-rising infrastructure costs will put pressure on the Government’s transport budget, which could force the Government to increase petrol taxes (FED) and road user charges (RUC).
This increase would be on top of the 25 cent per litre increase (and an equivalent RUC increase), which will take place in about three months’ time, when the Government’s temporary package to reduce transport costs comes to an end.”
Sagz, the tax goes back on only a week or 2 after the govt start handing out 27bux a week to everyone earning under 70k… give with one hand take with the other! Im sure quietly raising it a few cents at the same time will be on the agenda, all in the name of climate change of course.
Na, they won’t put the tax back on. Too scared.
Saggy, this foolish Government is already getting a huge increase in Fuel Taxes due to the current prices of fuel and RUC’s go up again on 1st July.
If this Government spent what it took in Fuel Tax and RUC’s on roading instead of unproductive vanity projects, then they would not be short of road maintenance funds.
God knows what they use it on.
Crackup, NZs new faux holiday looks set to be celebrated by using ancient chinese technology to symbolize stone age maori discovering a group of stars many thousands of years after ancient civilizations had already discovered them.

Id forgotten all about this bs joke holiday, what day is it? I was going to go get a captain cook outfit to wear for the day, hope its not too late!
The ancient Chinese technology display, is in celebration of the Chinese takeover of the Pacific.
Faux-tariki is June 24th this year and, being based on the stars, the date is all over the place like a mad woman’s shit in subsequent years.
All hail the rise of Subaru.
I approve.
Based on stars yet it will always fall on a friday or monday… cant have it fall on a weekend as no paid day off work for many. It seems a day off work is more important then actual matariki, thats the maori way tho i guess
If everybody can’t have fireworks, why have Suburu day?
What’s in it for us other than a day maori day off?
It’s highly discriminatory & racist to boot. Think about all the Maori dole bludgers & DPB mothers. How are they going to celebrate?
If my neighbors are any indication, then they celebrate every day. (Energy drinks, weed, cigarettes, etc.) Every day is a party with your mates, it seems. It must be nice to be looked after by the State, and not be held accountable for your actions…
Cindy will drop a couple of hundy off to them so they can celebrate in the way they become accustomed!
Don’t be so rude to us mad women lol.
We should drop the middle man and just celebrate China day.
SB, the Early Settler has only in the last few years discovered Matariki. Hypocrites.

Whenever my mother saw a smart woman when I was a kid she would always say,
“Look at her, all fur coat and no knickers. ”
Now as I’ve got older. I realise that it’s precisely because these girls wore no knickers that they had fur coats.
I’m saddened, I never got to find out, if it was true!
Would have loved to ask a few at social events!
Those ones with a fox stool? Too stingy to spread it around!
Fox stool?
You wouldn’t want that spread around
There was a delightful scene in the film “Switch” where Ellen Barkin’s bitchy friend is accosted by a PETA protestor;
“Do you know how many poor animals had to die to get that coat?”
“Do you know how many rich animals I had to fuck to get this coat?”
Stunned silence, bitchy friend stalks off in triumph.

Pat and Mike were once very good friends. One day when
they were still on speaking terms, Pat went over to Mike’s
house to visit, but when he got there, Mike was out.
Mike’s wife was holding the ferociously fighting baby who
had different plans, and trying to put up curtains at the
same time.
“Pat,” she said, “I’m glad you came. Would you mind
holding the squirming nuisance while I finish the curtains?”
A few minutes later, Pat came in and said to Mike,
“How ya doin, Mike?”
Said Mike, “I’m holding my own”.
That’s when the battle started.
Maybe it’s me but I’m confused – have Pat and Mike been reversed in the end of the tale or am I not getting it?
My bad. Times are hard & I had to let the sub editor go.
Yes, think names have been reversed but on the third reading realised that he was holding the baby, not what I first thought.

But as usual if they’d fronted the problem they would have got away with it. Instead of sending him a friendly letter thanking him for his opinion & enclosing a voucher for $50 off his next purchase of a more suitable product from their range they ignored him.

Fake news. Prices are already below 15%. Sales have died and a few high value sales are used to talk up the market by panicked Ponzi players.
It’s not “some” it’s tens of thousands. Around 15,000, and climbing, have moved to interesting only mortgages. Their equity is long gone.

Bird hasn’t got any money. Judging by his anger towards wimmin he was obviously cleaned out by a departing sheila and has swallowed the bitter/angry pill big time.😂
Crikey, where does he go for shelter, who does he turn to..?
Probably his cellmate.😂
I didn’t write the articles dickbreath. Write an angry letter to Interest NZ and Stuffed – demanding they stop reporting facts about the housing market.
You chronic losers need to accept you made a shit investment in an obvious Ponzi scheme and be gracious about it.
Remember folks – Kea called it and Mikey lied to you.
😂😂🤪
“You chronic losers need to accept you made a shit investment”
My Kaiteriteri property has gained 8 fold, why do i need to accept that it is a shit investment..?
Mikey would be in the same boat i would assume !~
So why all the tears and emotional outbursts?
Something smells off…
What!!?? Pot meet kettle!!😂

I’m fine Mikey. I don’t fly into a spastic rage over data 😄
One too many poops in the cage i reckon !~
No tears from me, just 3 debt free rental properties and tired of your endless parroting of the same old same old.
Do you own property (aging Honda City does not count)? If not, why not?
Yes I do. But why the personal attacks over data coward?
Why don’t you get triggered over people continually complaining about the govt loser? The housing crisis is the single biggest issue and has stuffed our country.
So nothing will change or are others to miss out on medications that are in short supply?
Pharmac review: Government accepts majority of recommendations, drug-buying agency to focus on equality for Māori, Pacific communities
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2022/06/pharmac-review-government-accepts-majority-of-recommendations-drug-buying-agency-to-focus-on-equality-for-m-ori-pacific-communities.html
“The panel found Pharmac’s model has delivered significant benefits, but to achieve its purpose these benefits need to be shared more equitably across our communities, especially for Māori and Pacific peoples,” Health Minister Andrew Little said on Wednesday.
“As a result of this Review, Pharmac will have a much greater focus on improving the health of Māori, Pacific peoples, disabled people and other groups who do not yet share equitably in the benefits Pharmac provides.
“This will mean stronger relationships with Māori to honour te tiriti o Waitangi, that Pharmac is more inclusive of people with health needs, and explains its work more openly for the public.
Should be the same for all New Zealnders! Not special people!
So its 33 Degrees in the hot sun and the Op – Shopper who is our PM has to wear a heavy beige coat and look like a homeless dero, to see an incontinent old man, who if you look at the second still photo here, looks like he is going to sniffer her hair. “What comes out of it now we will only know with time.”
So in other words, for all the bullshit spoken about his meeting, for all the cost to get there to the Taxpayer of NZ, for all the time it has taken, not one thing, not one iota was achieved.
Sums up Ardern’s whole term as Prime Minister.

Alert 🚨 The following facts may trigger fuckwits:
There is no housing shortage
🔥 Slump in housing sales pushes stock levels up 77% compared to this time last year
A huge surge in the number of homes on the market comes at the same time sales have plummeted. 🔥
https://www.interest.co.nz/property/116174/slump-housing-sales-pushes-stock-levels-77-compared-time-last-year
No wonder our resident real agents have been so jumpy lately 🤭
You may need to increase your Ritalin dose to 2 a day.
You reckon that will fix the housing market ?
“ The number of homes available for sale was more than double what it was a year ago in many regions, with the biggest increases occurring in the Wellington region where stock levels were up by 188% compared to May last year, followed by the central North Island +165%, Hawke’s Bay +148%, Wairarapa +143%, Bay of Plenty +143%, Manawatu/Whanganui +142%, Nelson & Bays +116% and Waikato +106%.”
Wow 😃
From Corelogic. You must have * cough* overlooked it.
“Over the past three months, a number of suburbs have seen continued increases in median values, with 11 seeing growth of 5% or more. Another 28 have been in the 2-5% range.”
Me thinks you cherry pick the info far too much.😎
Cherry picking is selecting a tiny few exceptions to the rule. Which is what you just did. Desperation.
You real estate agents are full of shit 🤣
That’s Awwwwwful !~
Was talking to a local chippy yesterday. He’s semi-retired & spends most of his time doing building inspections for prospective buyers. Reckons the arse has dropped out of the market.
He’s not especially up with current prices but his take is that buyers, even those with the money & needing a house, are laying low in droves scared of overpaying.
You would have to be retarded to buy now. Wait 12 months and an average suburban house will be down $ 200,000 – $350,000. A bit of rent is nothing compared to those savings.
Market prices have already dropped that much but delusional sellers are in denial and can’t accept it. Hence the lack of sales and massive supply. And the angry outbursts from our resident real estate agents . . .
Comedian as well 😂200-350 K lol
Put the pipe down and back away..slowly.

Hobbyists in Japan can take things to a level that Kiwis would not believe.
I was watching a cooking program “Kajiyarou” on Japanese TV and there was this culinary geek somewhere who had 30 different types of salt in his kitchen. These ranged from Japanese sourced ones to salts imported for all over the world. In this one episode he had paid something like $60 for this “branded” pork chop from Iwate Prefecture, and was musing whether he should use a particular salt made from the evaporated waters of a famous hot spring in Shizuoka Prefecture (Kawane Onsen).
If this were New Zealand it would be like me getting my hands on some hand-massaged lamb from Taihape (at $220 a kg) and then agonizing over whether to use salt made from Miranda hot spring water or South Island salt from Sutton Salt Lake.
This whole thing is a little too geeky for my tastes.
Aahh, but OS. Food, cooking, quality of ingredients, how to cook and presentation is an art form in Japan. Not so much here although but it is improving.
Yes TAH, you are correct, but let’s be honest, can you really tell the difference between Sutton salt and Pam’s iodized salt? (Granted that coarse-ground salt will have a different texture and solubility to the powdery fine-ground variety.)
After the first glass of Pino Gris, I will surely not be able to.
Freshness is important, and the cooking and presentation also count for a lot. But sometimes it can all get a little bit too silly.
Classic example I read in some women’s magazine for an upmarket stew. “Take half an onion & half a shallot, slice, saute etc……” Most of the foodies are pretentious wankers or stark raving mad. Take your pick.
Pretentious wankfest.

Although I have lived on-and-off in different countries and travelled pretty widely, I have always thought of NZ as my home. I have worked hard and paid my taxes and never once have I been on a benefit.
I have done volunteer work for three (genuine) charities over a period of thirty years and when overseas I have been proud to call myself a kiwi; but this is fast coming to an end now. I am actively looking for a country where I can spend whatever years I have remaining in peace.
The former New Zealand is disintegrating before my very eyes and I would like to be able to get out while people are still allowed to leave – although I’m not sure that the prognosis for Australia is really much better in the long run. Hmmmm…
Over 50 and cashed up? Consider Thailand.
Yes I was thinking about you as I was writing that. Also we both have experience of the Sunshine Coast, so there’s some commonality there too. Could you tell us what life is like for an over-50 white guy (and his wife) in Thailand?
Wifey will hang onto you like your going to melt 😄
Its paradise bud. Everything you want is there. Your money goes far. You can rent a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom private pool villa in Phuket for $220-$250pw. Visit to the Doctor around $10. Meds you buy direct from the pharmacy. Its very cheap living overall. If you like the mountains..Chiang Mai to the north. Like big city living? Bangkok. You can get a retirement visa which lasts for 2 years. Or, you can go Thai Elite visa..20 years cost around 40K NZ.
Indonesia is good too.
Its a dirty filthy stink hole run by mad ragheads.
Gavin Maxwell (Ring of Bright Water) took the late Wilfred Thesiger on a sailing trip along the north and east coast of Indonesia which he described as the last true paradise left on Earth (this was more than 40 years ago). I asked Thesiger why he never wrote about the trip since it had been such a wonderful experience and he replied that Maxwell had only agreed to take him if he solemnly promised not to write about the trip because he, Maxwell, was afraid that the area would be quickly ruined by the rapacious tourist hordes always looking for the last unspoiled paradise to despoil.
PS But I agree completely about the mad, overbreeding ragheads.
Mikeys renting. Loser ☝️
You’re renting.🤪
Own goal.😂
Great spot it is to !
This 2-year retirement visa. Does it have an age limit? Where in Thailand do you have to go to get it renewed? Do you have to leave the country to do so?
The retirement visa is actually called a Non-OA visa. Not to be confused with the Non-O visa. We’ll go with the O-A visa for explanation. You need to be 50 yrs and older. There is no age limit. The visa is issued for a 12-month period from your country of residence via the Thai Embassy in Wellington ($250). Off you go to Thailand. Every 90 days you check in with Thai Immigration ( via their website ). Fast forward 11 months, you have decided you enjoy the place so much that you would like to stay for another year. You exit Thailand via Air Asia and shoot down to KL ( stay for a few days if you like ) then return back to Thailand. When you come thru Thai Immigration they will stamp you back in for a further 12 months. So you get a 2 year stay out of a one year O-A visa. Not everyone knows this but it is legal. However you can only do this once. 👍🏼
Thanks.
I expected that you would have to leave Thai territory and then come back in to renew your visa.
I guess that when you are too old to carry out this, they deport you back to your home country.
Wouldn’t your NZ Superannuation be canceled if you went and lived in Thailand on a retirement visa?
Depends where you settle. If you moved to Nonkhai at the very top of Thailand bordering the Mekhong River, you can get the bus across the border into Laos..stamp in have lunch, stamp out, get the bus back over to Nonkhai, stamp back in to Thailand. Maybe 4 hours in total.
NZ super, now dont quote me on this but I believe you can leave NZ and live in Thailand whilst on the pension but you must notify Winz before you go. But like I say, dont quote me. Best to check yourself.
Another option is Thailand for 3 months. Get a tourist visa from Thai Embassy in Wellington. This will give you 30 ( first 30 visa exempt ) and 30 days, 60 in total. On the 55th day you go to Immigration in Thailand and apply for a 30 day extension, cost around 80 bucks. So you get 90 days total.
MH, I have done this too. Just flew to KL from Bangkok and got back on a flight to Bangkok 2 hours later. Never left the KL airport.
Forget Aussie. Tons of better choices.
Well well we agree on something.
We do on lots of things Mikey poos. 👍
Hat tip to Sooty for the Maori ev Toyota’s.
… Manukau Urban Māori Authority’s [MUMA] Waka Aronui scheme to get low income whanau into low emission vehicles.

MUMA has teamed up with the Akina Foundation and Toyota to offer Toyota hybrids on a three-year lease for $95 a week.

That figure also covers maintenance and tyres.

Can a Honda City, non turboed, be a deposit in this scheme?
More room to stretch-out and sleep in?
There would be a lot less smelly emissions?
Aren’t hybrids and EVs for wealthy Green Party supporters in the leafy eastern suburbs of central Auckland? It’s part of the white trust-fund-baby culture.
If that is the case, then Meng Foon should declare that Maori use of such vehicles constitutes cultural appropriation.
//
Those smelly emissions will probably be accumulated in a heap on the drivers floor.

A former Bar Owner who is now a Race Relations Conciliator with no known skills in this field, who last week stated the wearing of Greenstone was and should be, for Maori only and then in March last, he demanded that Police 10/7 be taken off TV because it held Maori in poor light.
Well the same unskilled Race Relations Conciliator now demands that, what he calls “Inaccurate Maori Exhibitions, be rectified”. These exhibitions depict Maori living in caves at some time in their past.
As far as I understand, all mankind lived in caves at some time. Some of humanity got out of them sooner than later, but we were all cave dwellers or have used caves for shelter. What in Meng Foons’ mind or opinion make Maori any different?
So, the fool, Meng Foon is now an expert in Museum Exhibitions but does not know or understand history.

A former Bar Owner who is now a Race Relations Conciliator with no known skills in this field, who last week stated the wearing of Greenstone was and should be, for Maori only…
The original green stone carvers were in NZ many hundreds of years, perhaps thousands of years, before Maori. With skills and carvings identical to those found in Peru and Alaska.
So those statements qualify as dis-information.
So no knowledge of history or inclination to find knowledge of history. Science and Research has been supplanted by politics and greed.

Renting money – to live in the banks depreciating heap of gib n’ sticks – is getting pricy. Many are struggling to pay the increased rent :

Times are going to get tougher
and harder, thanks to the foul
creature and this shit house government.
Yep it’s going to be a shock for many.
Consider the fate of those who live in the worst possible of places ie between the banks & the greedies fondly known as landlords.
The ticket clippers will up the rents until the tenants are bled dry.
Hmmm! I must have struck a nerve. The maggots are protesting weakly in the only way they know how.
If money is created by a collaboration between banks and home buyers, at the swinging of the auctioneers gavel, it would seem that the heart of capitalism is an inflationary act. Two conspirators agree to create money out of nothing. Pure inflation. The lender accepts a lifetime of wage slavery and impotent silence, and the bank accepts the charade & some risk of asset collapse. And the undead march on.
Beorn, then charge you interest, which you have no control over.
Thats incorrect. You can fix your interest rate. Stop being a drama queen.
At the rate the bank sets you imbecile. You don’t chose the rate.

Putting the foxes in charge of the hen house.
Maggy, if you cost your Employer and Shareholder $60 million, you would be out the door so fast you would hear the sonic boom because of the speed of your exit.
So why has not the big cheese of OT, the State Services Commissioner, Peter Hughes who had oversight of the project and the Minister of OT, Kelvin Davis not be shown the door.
Guess they all are protected species and it is only your money, so in the end, who cares. Well me for starters, because part of it is my money.
I have twice had experience of Oranga Tamariki in respect of family members, and cannot muster a positive word for either the old CYFS or current OT. They lie and manipulate. They promise things they can’t/won’t deliver, choose sides and play people off against each other, stall and delay until the young person in question is no longer of an age to receive assistance. The family group conferences are an outrageous waste of time, giving family the appearance of a say in what’s happening when really they have none. The young persons voice is ignored or filtered through Lawyer for Child (and those appointments are nothing more than a licence to print money). The young persons needs take a back seat to what the department is prepared to provide which is often entirely counter-productive.
Why the taxpayer keeps paying these muppets is beyond me.
It’s not like they achieve anything productive.
‘Why the taxpayer keeps paying these muppets is beyond me. ‘It’s not like they achieve anything productive.’
The same argument applies equally to this criminal
shitbag government, Led by a lying, vacuous narcissist.
So Labour have finally got the shits. Mustr have, approving roading.
MAJOR ROADING INVESTMENT APPROVED – 40 YRS LATE(R)
The Government has finally pushed ‘go’ on the $830 mln Penlink project, an arterial connector to unblock the rapidly developing Whangaparoa Peninsula with SH1, north of Auckland. The need for this project was first identified in the 1980s. It wasn’t an $830 mln project when it was first identified as a priority.
Call me cynical but y guess is that this is to do with the changes that they are pushing through on housing in Auckland. Once enacted it will allow 3 3story properties per site without any planning approval required. There is an out for special cases. We have been arguing (with the support of the local councilors) that the infrastructure on the Whangaparaoa peninsula will not support the additional housing. One of the shortfalls being inadequate access and roading. Penlink would partly solve this problem.
Well, this just proves Parliament and it’s grounds are just a Kindergarten and Trevor Mallard, a Pre-School Teachers Aide. More wastage of your coin.

Richard Prebble: The danger of Prime Ministerial travel
Prime Ministerial international travel is necessary, addictive and dangerous.
It is necessary for New Zealand Prime Ministers to travel. The US President is never going to meet our foreign minister. An interview on the Tonight Show is worth more than tourism’s total budget.
Prime Ministerial travel is addictive because it’s a heady experience. The PM is suddenly free from 24/7 scrutiny. The Opposition rarely criticizes a Prime Ministerial trip. Journalists who accompany the trip are totally reliant on the PM for their stories. The foreign press knows zip about New Zealand. When Auckland is experiencing nightly drive by shootings the Prime Minister can leave the impression that her government has solved the problem of gun violence.
It is dangerous because the trips isolate Prime Ministers from domestic reality. Mt Albert constituents do not care their MP has received an honorary doctorate. Their concern last week was that the police have cautioned that their electorate is not safe to walk in at night.
It is hard to remember how ordinary households are struggling to fill their grocery bags or their car’s fuel tank when you are visiting the White House.
Overseas Prime Ministerial travel does not even let Jacinda experience how difficult it is for ordinary people.
If Jacinda had to fill out her own Covid immigration forms, she would discover how hard the forms are to fill out. The information sought has almost no value. You cannot say you have had a Pfizer vaccination. You need to state the type. Who knew there are so many?
The forms have to be filled out on-line. It is very challenging when you are on a Pacific Island with intermittent Internet access. No matter Pacific travelers are in much greater danger of catching covid in Auckland.
Jacinda boasted to the American students that she does her own social media. If she was not busy with social media she could have ensured the covid forms are user friendly. It would have been of more assistance to tourism than any number of appearances on the Tonight Show.
Vanity speeches to international audiences by New Zealand Prime Ministers rarely turn out well. David Lange’s speech to Yale University where, to the astonishment of the cabinet, he declared the ANZUS alliance a dead letter, poisoned relations with America for twenty years.
Jacinda Ardern’s Harvard University commencement address is a good speech, delivered well. It is the content that is concerning.
Jacinda’s claimed this is the “era of disinformation”. “Fragile” democracy is under threat from social media platforms algorithms that “before we even know” take us to sites where “facts are turned into fiction, and fiction turned into fact”.
“The foundation of a strong democracy includes trust in institutions, experts and government”. We must, she says “act to firm up their foundations”.
She then uses the finding that the Christchurch terrorist was radicalized on-line to claim we are “at a precipice”
Her solution is “a shared approach to responsible algorithms”.
Let us be clear where Jacinda is at. Her “shared approach” is having government control social media algorithms to control what we can see.
It is Jacinda who is talking fiction and claiming it is fact.
Citing Pakistan does not prove democracy is fragile. It is because democracy is such a powerful idea that authoritarian regimes want to censure what we can see. Regimes that seek to crush democracy always start by curtailing free speech.
The Internet did not invent terrorism. Long before the Internet fanatics were being radicalized and running amok.
Countries can have “trust in institutions, experts and government” and be a dictatorship but no country can be a democracy without free speech.
This is the information age. There may be more misinformation but I doubt it. What is true is never in human history has the public had access to so much scientific and factual information. Never before have we been able to fact check our rulers.
It is the fact checking by “keyboard warriors’ who Jacinda dismisses as misfits dressed in super hero outfits that Jacinda finds challenging.
The ability to access information the authorities know to be false is essential. As Mark Twain famously observed “It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so.”
Fact checking reveals that much of what our government knows to be true just ain’t so.
There is nothing unusual about this.
Through most of human history most of what governments thought to be true has been false. Authorities knew the sun turned around the earth. Earlier the authorities knew the sun was the god Ra. This list of gods authorities knew to exist and required millions to worship is long.
We only have freedom when we are able to view and decide for ourselves.
President Putin could not invade the Ukraine if he did not first censor what Russians can see, hear and say. The world’s authoritarian regimes must love Jacinda’s Christchurch call.
Democracy and freedom would have been safer if Jacinda had stayed at home
Amen to that statement.
You would think been a communist and all, you think she would have gone to Russia to see Putin!
After it can’t be her first trip. Been the world youth leader and all!
Democracy and freedom would have been safer if Jacinda dropped dead,
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Economy ‘red lining’: Another bank predicts biggest house price fall since 1970s
Westpac increased its prediction to an inflation-adjusted house price fall of just over 20% 🔥🔥🔥🔥
https://i.stuff.co.nz/business/128661766/economy-red-lining-another-bank-predicts-biggest-house-price-fall-since-1970s
Looks like our resident real estate agents blathering about Honda Cities hasn’t turned the market. It’s almost like I have zero effect on house prices. But don’t tell them, it’s fun watching their decent into madness as they deny reality 🔥🏠
The banks still get their money
one way or another. They don’t
give a flying fuck HOW they get it.
Banks are making huge record profits. The whole scam is run by banks for banks.
When house prices out west jumped from $600,000 in 2015 to $1,100,000 by 2021 (during a period of low interest and a very small population increase), you kind of feel that it wouldn’t be too much to hope for those same houses to drop back down to where they were in 2015.
Is “gross household income” the pre-tax income of all the working people in a household (usually two)?
Kea will tell us that a typical house should be 3 times the median household income, but that figure is premised on mortgage rates of about 8-9%. If rates are 6% (more realistic) then what multiple of household annual income should a basic 3-bdrm house be (in Auckland)?
That is the figure and it’s not based on a particular interest rate. And that’s not a cheapy, it’s an affordable house.
Nobody is holding a gun to the head of a purchaser Einstein. It’s up to the purchaser to do due diligence before they sign on the dotted line. The banks also do their homework before they dish out the dosh. Duh.🤪
The value of your house is a matter of opinion, but the mortgage you took out is real.
Hey Mikey how many open homes have you got this weekend? Gotta keep the lease payments up on that flash car bro.
You can pick up a side hustle as a kitchen hand. Plenty of work about. No need to thank me.

the Tauranga candidates debate is on tonight .Chantelle B said it was live but I cant find it?
Issue is who and what happens if you do.
So the Nats have a reasonable candidate as do ACT . Then we have several others.who for good reasons could be a good mp.
If we vote say for ACT then that weakens the nats. Iwe vote for the Nats then that pisses us off.
Problem is that if we vote for the various others or act that will allow Tinetti to slide in as an MP. They know that of course so they encourage as many right side votes to split their votes up.
Tineti has done SFA for the time she has been there. Well other than join all the rest in the overweight club.
Ahha
Its now on Chantelles fb live.

……”The trust supporting former members of the reclusive Gloriavale community is surprised the former Christian School principal has not been struck off the register for twice endorsing a teacher he knew had sexually assaulted a nine-year-old girl.”…….
These lovely God fearing old perverts looked after each other well:
…….”Standfast assaulted the girl in 2012, who immediately told her mother, who in turn told Pilgrim.
Instead of reporting the assault, Pilgrim endorsed Standfast as fit to teach and assigned him to high school-aged boys.”…….

Maybe they thought that the boys wouldn’t object to molestation.
Sick fucks!
The names they assign themselves eg: ‘Standfast’
and ‘Pilgrim’ need re-evaluation. How about ‘Blessed Crotch Grabber’, ‘Heavenly Hard On’ and ‘Glorious Bulge’.
Can the USA get anymore corrupt? All what they are talking about here started in 2012 –when Luxon’s favorite President was in the WH.

Reminder for HB residents:
Democracy NZ, Matt King
Tomorrow, Thursday 2 June 6 pm
The Paisley Stage, Carlyle Street, Napier
This afternoon we attended a meeting with Matt King at Warkworth. We attended the first meeting at 4 which was quickly scheduled after the main meeting at 6.30 was booked out. The venue held 100, and at our meeting there would have been at least 80. The first noticeable thing was a room full of people with nobody wearing a mask (though two women who arrived late were wearing them). Matt seems like the real deal and fervently believes that Democracy NZ can gain the balance of power next year. He is confident that he is in with a good chance of regaining the Northland seat. In terms of policy he was very strong on the vax, mandates and abuse of the bill of rights etc. He even talks sense on how to deal with the excesses of the climate agenda.
Can’t see any merit in any of the other parties so will join, vote for him and hope that he can deliver.
Good to hear. Hope Matt’s holding a meeting over in the Waikato on his travels.
I see Act have gone woke calling for the Russian ambassador to be removed from NZ. Surely there are much more important issues concerning NZers than a diplomatic tiff which is not pertinent to most kiwis.

Government blames COVID-19 for 46 percent increase in communications staff
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2022/06/government-blames-covid-19-for-46-percent-increase-in-communications-staff.html
Newshub can reveal the number of communications staff working in the public sector has ballooned over the last five years.
The total number is up nearly 50 percent since Labour came into Government, and it’s also costing you an extra $21 million.
But the National Party’s Public Service Spokesperson Simeon Brown said it’s a sign of a Government “spinning out of control trying to cover up the cracks of their failure to deliver”.
Government relations advisor Holly Bennett says Kiwis aren’t seeing value for money.
Typical bloody labour, blow out the bloody public servants!

Not easy an easy watch, as it draws on such wide headlines, interviews, though appearing alarmist, is really no more than reporting on the alarmists,
The style of presentation is not easy, sort of stilted, so prepare to pause, freeze, rewind take a break then continue.
STATE OF SWEDEN (pt. 2)
https://rumble.com/v15m99r-state-of-sweden-2.html
1 hour 47 secs : Published May 21, 2022
This covers a lot of different themes, where globalists use so many different systems, get their ideas into a “new normal”.
I stop it, small rewind, sometimes freeze to something in, have a break, as it would seem to much to take in.
The focus who is behind this vid, montage of Swedish events, is not so easy to put a finger on, but does not matter as the trend can be felt here in New Zealand also.
It is the quiet re interpreting the culture, nullifying what globalism does not like, to prove a point why globalism is so much more “kindness” and is great for every one’s “well being” so simply should be accepted. 🙁
That is accept the increasing little steps of deviousness, grooming over the past 10 years or so,
One should not question this type of “new thinking” or look behind the curtain to see if it makes sense, to apply reasoning.
