  1. GOP Presser Kick-Starts Counter-Programming to Jan. 6 Committee Hearings

House GOP lawmakers are scheduled to hold a press conference in the morning on June 8, as part of several counter-programming events for the Jan. 6 Committee’s public hearings.

The presser, to be held at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, is led by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), according to Fox News. Other House Republicans scheduled to make an appearance include House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).

In July last year, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) rejected Banks and Jordan from sitting on the panel investigating the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

  2. A former U.S. congressman from Philadelphia has pleaded guilty to several election fraud charges, including bribery and falsification of voting records, according to the U.S. Justice Department.

Former Rep. Michael Myers (D-Pa.), 79, admitted to bribing an election judge in Philadelphia, Domenick J. Demuro, to illegally add votes for certain individuals, including candidates for federal and state offices.

Myers and Demuro, both of whom are Democrats, supported fellow Democratic candidates. Myers would receive payments from the candidates by cash or check, and send a portion of the funds to Demuro. Demuro was charged separately and pleaded guilty in May 2020.

The judge of elections for the 39th Ward, 36th Division in South Philadelphia would then add fraudulent votes for Myers’s clients.

“At Myers’s direction, Demuro would add these fraudulent votes to the totals during Election Day, and then would later falsely certify that the voting machine results were accurate,” the DOJ said in a statement.

The fraud took place during elections starting in 2014 and going through 2018, authorities said.

Myers also admitted to conspiring to commit fraud with Marie Beren, a judge of elections for the 39th Ward, 2nd Division in Philadelphia. Myers acknowledged directing Beren to add votes to candidates he supported, including candidates for judicial office who had hired Myers.

  4. The public feud between two of the world’s richest people keeps unfolding as Elon Musk hit back at Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, who had just played down his tune on shorting Tesla stocks.

Despite claiming that Tesla’s done a fantastic job, Gates said during an interview with French YouTuber HugoDécrypte that he had paid out more tackling climate change than Musk—who then responded in one word—“Sigh”—via Twitter on June 4. The Tesla CEO has recently cast doubts on Gates’ goodwill in fighting climate change given the latter’s short position against the electric carmaker.

“I give a lot more money to climate change than Elon or anyone else. I give a lot of philanthropic dollars, I back companies,” Gates said in his recent talk. “Electric cars are about 16 percent of emissions, so we also need to solve that other 84 percent.”

“But somebody shorting the stock doesn’t slow him down or hurt him in any way,” the billionaire argued, without denying a previously-confirmed half-billion-dollar bet against the automaker, which would now require up to $2 billion to close out.

    https://www.theepochtimes.com/billionaires-twitter-spat-moves-on-after-gates-downplays-shorting-teslas-stock_4514188.html?utm_source=uschinanoe&utm_campaign=uschina-2022-06-09&utm_medium=email&est=dSc3GGhuGR4SLqdcrUimqZzHmLfzvhTLFgQTRe1JN6coFjnLW4QImfsj7w2HuZI%3D

The billionaire also suspected Musk’s potential impact on Twitter, suggesting that the latter’s plan to purchase the platform would allow for more so-called misinformation to proliferate.

An analysis of the public filings and records shows that a dozen of liberal groups that pressured Twitter advertisers to boycott the platform early last month—in response to Musk’s potential acquisition—received money from entities funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

  5. Oh to be a sports star.
Exclusive: All Black sidesteps charge after ‘extremely excessive’ speed

All Black Dalton Papalii has sidestepped a court charge after police accused him of driving at “extremely excessive” speeds on an Auckland motorway.

Papalii, 24, was set to be charged by police for driving in excess of the 100km/h posted limit on the Southern Motorway at Takanini in the early hours of Wednesday last week, a court document viewed by the Herald shows.

Police say they were unable to proceed with the charge due to a “technicality,” understood to be an issue with the speed detection equipment.

The charge they were to lay was a category 1 traffic offence, meaning police would have alleged he was driving more than 50km/h above the posted limit.

The Blues captain was due to appear in court in the days after he was pulled over but his first appearance was deferred until July after he required surgery for appendicitis.

Police then withdrew the charges this week.

    Misconduct proceedings

A representative confirmed Papalii was now facing misconduct proceedings from NZ Rugby’s integrity unit.

It is understood he recently addressed his Blues teammates and senior leadership group regarding the incident.

He is said to have been contrite and embarrassed and expressed regret at the distraction from the team’s preparation ahead of tomorrow’s Super Rugby Pacific semi-final against the Brumbies.

Police also stated Papalii was “remorseful for the situation” when spoken to after being pulled over.

      • Well as it happens I use FB and really am old enough that FB doesn’t need to tell me what to not say. and really that’s the point isn’t it. If they get away with this continuing attempt to shut down comments then we will all be worse off. A bit like Cindyys truth serum that she has infested our country with. Time to stand up.

        Dear Viking
I’m writing to ask for your support to fight back against the Government’s latest push intended to limit Kiwis’ speech – and as you’ll see below, the Government has no shame in who it is putting in charge.
On Friday, the Prime Minister announced the Directors for her new Centre of Research Excellence for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism, a Government entity reporting to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet that will “focus on understanding diversity and promoting social cohesion”.
One of the key people the Prime Minister has appointed to run the new Centre is Prof Joanna Kidman of Victoria University.

You might have heard of Prof Kidman. She is a vocal campaigner against what she calls messages of “hate” and regularly attacks people online for daring to have controversial or conservative views. She’s even thrown many an ‘extremist’ barb at your humble Free Speech Union because of our work on promoting academic freedom and free speech at universities.
Initiatives like this barely have a fig leaf covering for what they really are: government overreach trying to push an ideological agenda that actually undermines social cohesion and threatens minorities.
The reference to violent extremism in the new Centre’s name is a red herring: Kidman’s background is in “indigenous sociology, Māori youth, higher education, decolonisation studies and comparative education”.
At the announcement of the Centre, Prof Kidman claimed that “in our own communities we’ve seen the rise of groups that carry messages of hate and destruction”.
So what does Prof Kidman consider “hate and destruction”? Well, here she is responding to a historian she disagrees with:

That’s right Viking, among the people running this powerful new “anti-extremist” body are the very people who use their positions of power to bully political dissenters.
Prof Kidman once even tried to cancel fashion designer Trelise Cooper, accusing her of “colonial violence in floral polyester” after she named one of her dresses “Trail of Tiers” – you can’t make this stuff up.
This hand-picked appointment for a nebulous research centre is just the start of a propaganda arm that will select Government-backed “experts” to stand on the news telling us why it’s “safer” to restrict speech, all in the name of “social cohesion”. This is straight out of Orwell’s Ministry of Truth.
Only you can ensure that a strong Free Speech Union can stand up to the Government, and their hand-picked experts censors by making a confidential donation.
As left-wing blogger Martyn Bradbury has written:
“This academic research unit will advise the Government on how to clamp down on our free speech and restrict our civil liberties for the implementation of woke doctrine. It is half social engineering and half Identity Politics Stasi.”
Who in their right mind would believe that Joanna Kidman is going to make sound judgements about countering extremist thought? This appointment confirms the government is not interested in social cohesion at all. Aside from her opposition to the speech rights of those she disagrees with, Prof Kidman has made no contribution to counter extremism at all. She is a completely inappropriate appointment for this role – and if the media were actually doing their jobs, everyone would know it.
Will you support us to mount a pushback to expose Professor Kidman’s behaviour for what it is and show the public how concerns about extremism are being misused by the Government to control legitimate speech?
This ‘expert’ was even part of the Listener 7 pile-on
Prof Kidman was one of the signatures on the open letter that attacked the Listener 7 – the academics who penned the “In Defence of Science” piece which claimed that while indigenous knowledge (Mātauranga Māori) is important it “falls far short of what can be defined as science itself”.
For their involvement in the Listener letter, Professors Garth Cooper and Robert Nola (among others) were harassed for months.
We need to ensure that ‘tolerance’ in our public institutions isn’t just to those who toe the woke, politically correct lines. That’s why I’m asking for your support.

We say everyone has a right to voice their perspective, but those who try to silence others and tear down their rights to free speech should not receive public money, let alone be appointed to decide what counts as “social cohesion” and advise the government on laws which would restrict free speech.
Viking, you’ve seen us deliver a win on the Government’s attempt to pass so-called “hate speech” laws. This is their next shot at them. Your support will ensure we can beat this one back, too.
New Zealanders need someone in the free speech corner fighting against Jacinda Ardern’s ideological appointments that will see our speech rights eroded. But we can’t save free speech if we can’t keep the lights on!

        Thank you for your support.

        So pony up you guys.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2022/06/wild-weather-severe-thunderstorm-warning-possible-tornadoes-for-wellington-as-heavy-snow-blankets-south.html
A severe thunderstorm warning is in place for several regions in the lower North Island with very strong winds and possible tornadoes expected in the Wellington region.

It comes after a tornado tore through the Kāpiti Coast on Thursday causing widespread damage to businesses and homes.

Metservice issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Horowhenua, Kāpiti Coast, Palmerston North City and the Manawatu early on Friday morning. The forecaster warns strong winds from the storm could break branches from trees, damage roofs and make driving hazardous.

  9. Do those who champion never ending increased payments understand it is funded by taxpayers?

Beneficiaries owe record $2.1b to Govt as cost of living soars

Low income New Zealanders now owe more than $2 billion to the Ministry of Social Development as they continue to have to borrow money to survive.
    https://www.1news.co.nz/2022/06/10/beneficiaries-owe-record-21b-to-govt-as-cost-of-living-soars/

Benefit and pension rates also rose in April.

In a recent 1News Kantar Public Poll, nearly two thirds of New Zealanders (63%) said they believed pensioners and beneficiaries should also have received the cost of living payment.

A recent Cabinet document showed that New Zealanders on low incomes owe MSD, Inland Revenue and the Justice Department more than $3.5 billion and warned the debt was harming physical and mental wellbeings and fuelling violence in society.

Sepuloni said while work is underway to try to make debt repayments fairer, the Government has no plans to wipe the debt.

Even if you’ve had Covid, there is a risk of reinfection.”

Thats the best line of bullshit so far. If she /he was that stupid, why travel to Sydney in the first place?

        • On average throughout the year, one person dies every 3 hours from respiratory diseases. So while “Covid” has killed over 1,000 since “Covid” arrived here, in the same period, on average, respiratory diseases have killed over 7,000.

          And that does not include:
[1] The number of “Covid” deaths that were flu or other respiratory disease deaths,
[2] The number of “Covid” deaths that were from multiple co-morbidities but tested positive for “Covid”.
[3] The inaccuracy of the “Covid” tests.

          On these three points:
Deaths from other things are still counted as “Covid deaths” if they tested positive for “Covid” which as the mountain of evidence shows, that the “Covid” tests are inaccurate and unreliable, and often test positive for the flu.

A story I keep hearing, has happened a couple of times closer to home. Person X in their 90’s has multiple co-morbidities – cancer, heart issues, low immunity, bowel issues, eating issues (skin and bone), need help to wipe their arse, need of 24 hour care, and if not force fed water, would have died from de-hydration years ago. i.e. Grim Reaper keeps sending postcards.

Person X gets pneumonia and nearly drops dead and is rushed to hospital, and kept there as hospital says they will not release Person X to go home, even with 24 hour care, as they are “on the way out”. The Grim Reaper is pounding on the door daily, and only a matter of chance which day the door will open. Person X tests negative (tested every day or two) for “Covid”.

A month into the hospital stay, Person X dies of the co-morbidites, and the same time tests positive for “Covid”. Primary cause of death was fluid in the lungs from the pneumonia, which the hospital was unsuccessful in treating, and to add insult to injury Person X picked up “Covid” in hospital, although Covid was not the case of death.

But Covid is put on the death certificate, and counted as a Covid death. How dishonest.

On the other side of the coin, people are dying or sustaining health complications immediately after the jab. Worse still, people are dying of “previously unknown” medical conditions immediately following the jab. Person Y drops dead a week after a job with cause of death a previously “un-diagnosed heart condition” despite the last 22 thorough annual health checkups showing no evidence or indicators of that.

And if someone dies suddenly from a vaccine side effect, but they also “test positive” for Covid, it is counted as a “Covid death”.

There is no objectivity in Covid / Vaccine mortality reporting.

While he can see everyone in Sydney has moved on without their masks, are enjoying social interaction and he enjoyed those free conditions, on returning to NZ he compliantly slipped right back to being submissive. Once you get people in deep debt, they can be ‘manipulated’ to do whatever the lenders might want – or else!!

I doubt that this government will be any different, and wonder how long it will be before the repayment of these ‘loans’ starts to be enforced, and what form said ‘enforcement’ will take.

On that basis ‘You will own nothing and be happy’ takes on a more-sinister meaning…

The lady at the reception eyes him up and down interestingly. She then says, ‘We offer two types of rooms, normal and special. The normal one will cost you 50 dollars a night. The special one.. erm… if you are up to it, is completely free. In fact, we may decide to pay you something in the morning.”

Greatly intrigued, the man chooses the special room. The lady gives him a key. Upon going to the room the man finds a huge bed with three hot, naked ladies. They invite him and he spends a great night. The next morning while checking out, the lady at the reception hands him a cheque for a 1000 dollars. The man can’t believe his luck. All the fun and the money! He loves it!
He tells his close friend about the place and the friend decides to try it out. He drives to the motel, runs to the reception and asks for the special room. He too, has a ravishing night.

The next morning at the reception, he is presented with a cheque for 10,000 dollars. The man is delighted, but still asks the lady about why he was being paid so much more than his friend.
‘Your friend’s was a video shoot, but yours was shown live,” the lady replies.

  16. That bastard Shaw – you know, the one that Luxon admires, is seemingly set to continue fucking up our once great Country.
“In an apparent backdoor effort to tax meat, the burps and farts of cattle and sheep are set to be taxed by the leftist government of New Zealand in a bid to, they claim, save the world.
The left-wing Labour government of Jacinda Ardern has drafted proposals to levy taxes against farmers for the methane emissions produced by cows and sheep in what would be the world’s first green tax on livestock.
There is no question that we need to cut the amount of methane we are putting into the atmosphere, and an effective emissions pricing system for agriculture will play a key part in how we achieve that,” the government’s climate change minister James Shaw said per The Telegraph.
Yet, despite the large livestock population, the Pacific Ocean island country only ranks 74th globally in terms of carbon emissions, accounting for just 0.09 per cent of the world’s emissions, meaning that such a tax would likely have negligible impacts on supposedly man-made climate change.
However, the tax will likely serve to increase the cost of lamb and beef in New Zealand and in the countries to which the meat is exported, with farmers likely to pass on the added expense to consumers.”

Initially the farmer absorbs the tax.
If the farmer feels that it hits the profit margin then he will produce much less.

Maybe another choice, like pine forest plantations.
Possibly on good land to supply an ethanol crop, pushed by government regulations on fuel companies?

With reduced supply it will depend on how the market, the consumer values that meat and would they pay a higher price or simply will not purchase, so the farmer again receives a lower price?
      Vegans will rule?
Crickets could be the new crop?

      Why?
      Where is the supporting science?
And not just someone’s thumb suck!

…What no one seems to ask, though, is this: does methane from cows actually contribute to climate change?…

…There used to be a lot more ruminants on earth. At their peak, 60 million bison roamed North America. Beside them foraged 62 million white-tailed deer. Add at least as many million for antelope, caribou, and moose. Throw in a few million more for other large animals like bears, wolves, and beavers and you’ve got a 200 million strong menagerie of burping, shitting, farting creatures roaming the forests. Now, most of those herds have dwindled to a fraction, in some cases almost extinction.

Did they burp and fart as much as modern ruminants? Those bison, deer, and moose lived on natural, free-range diets. Science tells us they may have emitted up to 20% more methane than modern animals.

By comparison, there are currently 98.8 million beef and dairy cows in North America, 65 million pigs, and 5 million sheep. The earth is carrying fewer total animals than before. We’ve already done a lot to stop climate change — by killing off all the large animals. We could in fact have a deficit of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, as far as cows are concerned, were it not for our other contributions and the lack of sequestration.

Climate change zealots who have animal backside fixations need to get a reality check.

        • WG,

He is able to keep it going because of the woke portion of the population that have not yet learned to think, let alone think critically.

Unfortunately for many, what they call thinking is simply regurgitation of slogans, phrases, and buzzwords, all mixed up in a mental melting pot, glued together by emotions, subjectiveness, and biases, and ring fenced by a desire to not stray outside the herd boundaries and lose favour or freebies.

      • Remeber that methane is measured in parts per Billion. We are at about 1800 ppb at the moment. Thats virtually fuck all and an increase of fuckall by a little bit of fuck all is still fuck all. So Fuck Off.

    • Fuck that little grey cunt. Each and every farmer in the country contributes far, far more to this country’s wealth and wellbeing than a whole soviet of miserable commie bastards like Shaw. On behalf of the entire rural sector, may his next CO2-belching first class seat to an international climate conference be an ejector one.

The spinners, with NZ Ministry of Health & MedsafeNZ , all in a shell game, baiting switching, winding up the public.

In-grained ‘a gain of function’ of “Emergency Use Approval” EUA that provides a shield or was it just a label.
Then the “shell game” trick, all part of the “bait & switch”.

So did New Zealand and Australia get Comirnaty based on the government providing Immunity to the likes of Pfizer?
Did Pfizer then just slap the Comirnaty label on what ever they sent to NZ?

  17. ‘Centre of Research Excellence for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism’,

I received this from the Free Speech Union. Some will no doubt find it of interest, The fact that even a certain Martyn Bradbury is condemning the appointment / unit should be cause for concern. The psychophantic NZMSM will not, of course, make any comment, let alone ‘investigate’.

    The message reads:

‘On Friday, the Prime Minister announced the Directors for her new Centre of Research Excellence for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism, a Government entity reporting to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet that will “focus on understanding diversity and promoting social cohesion”.

One of the key people the Prime Minister has appointed to run the new Centre is Prof Joanna Kidman of Victoria University.

Centre of Research Excellence for Preventing and Countering

    Violent Extremism.

    Joanne Kidman

That’s right…among the people running this powerful new “anti-extremist” body are the very people who use their positions of power to bully political dissenters.

New Zealanders need someone in the free speech corner fighting against Jacinda Ardern’s ideological appointments that will see our speech rights eroded. But we can’t save free speech if we can’t keep the lights on!’

  18. Raises many good points about the gun control policies.

Lucretia Hughes Testifies at “The Urgent Need to Address the Gun Violence Epidemic”
    https://youtu.be/WEa2lMXismw
    6 mins 55 secs : 9th June 2022

“We must prepare to be our own first res-ponders”.

Lucretia Hughes testifies against expansions on gun control alongside many pro-gun control advocates, including families who were affected by the tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Texas.
She shares her family’s story about losing her son.

“A justice system failing to hold him accountable for the laws he already broken, …. a convicted felon killed my son”
“How about letting me defend my self from evil”
“You do not think I am capable & trustworthy to handle a firearm”.
“Who is supposed to protect us?”
“We must prepare to be our own first res-ponders”.
” I am a legal law abiding citizen and I do not need the government to save me.”
“education is the key to safety; not ineffective legislation”
“….. it will embolden the criminals, gun owners are not the enemy, in these gun control policies are not the solution.”

Those snippets do not do justice to that whole speech as the full context gives greater meaning to those points.

  19. I don’t know whether this article reveals any new information or restates what we already know but it may be of interest:

……”“…families in Tokelau had been under house “isolation” [house arrest] for over seven months. Yet this issue was receiving little to no attention from local media.” All under the watch of Ross Ardern, Jacinda Ardern’s father, who has incidentally, just resigned. House arrest means no swimming, no phones, no working from home, no leaving home even.”……

  22. Good to see ClarkE injecting himself into politics again. Why can’t the bell-end STFU.

“Jacinda Ardern has been warmly greeted back to Australia for the first time since 2020 by Anthony Albanese, with the two swapping records “mostly by chance”.

But her fiance, Clarke Gayford, wasn’t too impressed with Albanese’s choice of music.

“Midnight Oil, Spiderbait and The Finger????!!!! What is this, 2004???” he commented on his fiancee’s Instagram post.”

I hear that a leading manufacturer of wallpaper has just brought out the easy-to-apply “Epstein” line for DIY buffs. Apparently, it pretty much hangs itself.

    • This was in 2020 Alice. I had just discovered her and had been watching some of her videos. This from your post.

“Brandy Vaughan, a former sales executive for Big Pharma company Merck who quit the industry to build a website dedicated to educating people on the risks associated with vaccines, was found dead by her nine-year-old son just months after warning that if anything happened to her “it’s foul play.“ She was 44.
“If something were to happen to me,” Brandy Vaughan wrote in late 2019, “it’s foul play and you know exactly who and why.”
Soon after learning of her death, a friend of Vaughn’s, Erin Elizabeth, shared screenshots of a Facebook post Vaughan had written in December of 2019, in which she assured readers that she was not suicidal and did not take any drugs that would cause her to die suddenly.
“The post I wish I didn’t have to write…. But given certain tragedies over the last couple of years, I feel it’s absolutely necessary to post these ten facts… please screenshot this for the record,” wrote Vaughan.
“I have a huge mission in this life. Even when they make it very difficult and scary, I would NEVER take my own life. Period,” she continued.
The Santa Barbara Coroner concluded Vaughan died of “natural causes.” According to the Coroner’s report, Vaughan died of bilateral pulmonary thromboembolus, otherwise known as a blood clot in an artery.
Referring to her son, Vaughan wrote, “Bastien means everything to me and I would NEVER leave him. Period.‘ She added that she hadn’t taken pharmaceuticals for ten years. “In other words, I’m not on anything that could kill me unexpectedly or suddenly,” she wrote.
“If something were to happen to me, it’s foul play and you know exactly who and why — given my work and mission in this life,” she continued.”

  25. … hmmm … so , the government’s attempt to fix the spiralling rise in rental costs by repeatedly kicking the snot out of landlords has backfired …

Well … who’d have thunk it … teee heeee …

Average rents range from $388 a week in Timaru to $640 in Porirua
Average housing rents across the entire country increased by $55 a week over the 12 months to the end of March, but there are early indications that they may have started to retreat from recent highs.

Based on bond data from Tenancy Services, the national average rent for all newly tenanted properties in the first quarter of this year was $545 a week, compared to $490 a week in the first quarter of last year.

    That’s an increase of $55 a week, up 11.2%.

In deference to being nice today. I won’t say a thing.
