  1. Why do idiots that support the Labour Party and that is supported by the Labour Party, wish to become Politicians.

    Look at the fool, Efeso Collins who wants to be Mayor of Auckland.

    He says this. “In one of his first key campaign speeches, the Manukau councillor said more police on the beat, better resources to support young people and getting local businesses to the table will make communities safer.”

    What does “getting local businesses to the table” mean? Or is this just glib meaningless and empty words.

    He also wants to get more Police on the beat. It is not his job as Mayor to get Police “On the beat”. It is his job to pressure Central Government Politicians and the Minister of Police in particular, to get more resources allocated to get more Police “On the Beat” as he, as Mayor, has no power and should have no budget in this field. More empty words and hollow promises.

    Collins also said this “He also wants to sharpen up the Council’s spending on employment programmes to help young people from school to education to jobs and “into lives of importance”.

    Is that the job of, a Council or is it the job of Central Government? In my opinion it is not the job of a local Council to be involving themselves in Employment issues or prospects. That is the role of Central Government to create the best employment environment.

    Collins has been an Auckland City Councilor for six years and in that time Auckland has slipped further into the Shithole that it now is. Why would he as Mayor see Auckland improving as it definitely hasn’t under the watch he has been involved in.

    Further, I note from the article, not one word mentioned about the excrement that continually flows from the Auckland Sewer System into Auckland Harbour and what he would do as Mayor, to improve that disgrace, a disgrace as a current Auckland City Councilor, he has been part of for years.

    Collins, another piss weak man who sounds like he is auditioning for a role as a Central Government Politician, not a man who has the City for which he wants to be Mayor of, at heart.

  2. Must have got out of bed on the wrong side this morning.

    Cost of imported petrol according to MBIE for the week ended 10th June.

    “Importers paid $1.63 per litre for 91, and $1.66 for 95, in the week to June 10.”

    And yet according to Gaspy in Auckland at BP Mangere you will pay $3.32 litre and often around $3.28 litre in other places for 91 Octane.

    Two questions. If there is only a difference of 3 cents in the importation costs between 91 and 95 Octane, why is there a difference of around $0.30 litre at the pump? Is this not price gouging by Oil companies & petrol retailers or is there excessive tax on this type of fuel?

    Second, why the difference of $1.71 per litre of 91 Octane between the importation and retail price. Well over 100 per cent markup.

    Between the Government and the Oil Companies, they are just bending the public over. And I thought the most transparent Government this country had, held an enquiry into fuel prices and why thy were so high.

      • SB, why would MBIE be quoting in USD, although international trade in this commodity is in that currency.

        Every figure quoted seems to be quoted in NZD as no figures show anything other than NZ Dollars including taxes, pump prices, importation costs etc.

  10. I asked the wife when did she first become aware of Matariki. She said, “just recently”.

    Her father, a fluent speaker of te reo, raised on an East Coast marae, educated at Te Aute College – a school steeped in Maori culture and tradition, had an extensive collection of books on Maori history etc, who gave evidence at Waitangi Tribunal hearings on historical matters and yet had never breathed a word to her about Matariki.

    Her mother with a smidgin of non Maori blood grew up in a small Maori community outside of Gisborne and worked in kohanga reo before her retirement. Her distinguished brother was used as a Crown expert witness to give evidence in Court on tikanga- Maori protocol and traditional custom, and she too never once mentioned Matariki to her daughter.

    You don’t need to be too bright to work out why the wife’s parents hid this great traditional Matariki celebration from her.

    These things don’t happen in isolation. Think of this Kwanzaa festivity that the hapless non-African American vice president of the USA claimed she used to celebrate as a child, or the Juneteenth holiday. This Matariki BS has the UN’s fingerprints all over it.

  20. I see lots of comments and opinions being expressed, that Jacinda Ardern will not see out her full term as PM and will shoot through to the UN, possibly later this year.

    Why people claim this as I see no evidence that she will and to do what exactly, at the UN?

    Nor do I see any evidence that she has any qualifications for taking up any job at the UN. There is to my knowledge, no Fish & Chip Shop at the UN and she has absolutely no skills, experience or qualifications beyond that, which is apparent from the way she poorly runs this country.

    She in fact is so poorly qualified for anything, at 41 years old, she still lives with her mother and father.

    Most people have left their parents shelter and protection in their late teens, early 20’s but not Cindy.

    So no, can’t see her getting a job anywhere outside the one she currently has.

    • Right from when she was elected it has been stated that she would be gone by Christmas, mainly at that stage due to having a breakdown as it was “reliably” reported that she had suffered from this in the past. (W.Oil in particular). It has then morphed into a job at the U.N. and yes she certainly has no proper credentials for that other than being a left wing fuckwit.

    Once again, the optics of this are appalling. A senior Cabinet Minister’s partner has received significant funding from a government agency to provide certain services. What is so special about Ka Awatea’s method of facilitating hui that set it apart from the competiton? Or was there no competition?

    One perceived conflict of interest is bad enough. Two is really bad, but three? It’s high time these issues were referred for an independent inquiry as to their probity.”

Today he concentrated on the He Puapua report and the inexorable process by which New Zealand is becoming an apartheid state. Not only was he informative and at the same time entertaining, but the callers all had a lot to offer. His interview with Prof James Allan was disturbing but pure gold and I hope it’s available later on The Platform website.

    New Zealand is in trouble. Yes that’s true on many fronts – but almost any problem is fixable in the future EXCEPT race relations and separatism. Race relations is not one of those things like roading etc that can be fixed later. Race problems last for generations to come.

      Trucks, per se, are no more likely to cause an accident than a Morris Minor, it is the driver, not the car, that is the cause. It is just that you come off second best if you hit a truck or get hit by a truck.

What and why was she being so involved in demanding how the Party President perform his role and what the Presidents relationship with Board and Leader look like.       The Scampi Inquiry is interesting and reveals the true Winston. I know that Simunovich Fisheries was trying to build up a catch history for scampi for when it became a quoted species..     2) Within this distance there will be 21 raised pedestrian crossings.

    3) Passing lanes will be abolished.

    It’s total overkill by regulation. The safety freaks are completely out of control.

  50. How hard can it be to roll out flu shots to hospital staff?
    Maybe a table set up in the canteen with vax and needles so staff can roll up a sleeve before they buy their bread roll for lunch and sit down to eat it? Maybe a trolley at the exit door at shift changeover to catch staff on their way in for shift or out at home time?
    If DHBs have trouble jabbing a captive audience, they’re pretty stuffed so far as getting the community covered with flu shots. Most are only at 50%, Nelson DHB at 35%. Why?
    FFS it’s the shortest day and we haven’t rolled out flu shots that should have been started in February so we had maximum immunity leading into winter. Now we have hospitals over-run with patients and wrestling with staff sick leave as well.
    Is no one at MoH and it’s various money-wasting subsidiaries remotely competent?
    Why do we pay the Bloomfield wanker north of half a mil a year for crap like this?
    He should be paying us rent for allowing him to sit at a desk.

        Their new plant is massive. Been keeping an occasional watch on its build. with Maresk starting coastal frieghting they will be sending it in container loads to the South Island and other ports from here.
        Then they can bowl the olf plants and build more houses on them Land worth more than the new plant. Especially in Auckland.

          Have tried to search whether colours can be trademarked…couldn’t find anything specific to NZ but appears to vary around the world. From what I can gather, colours by themselves aren’t protected by copyright rather a business may have the exclusive right to use a particular colour on specific products or services in the course of trade.
          That would seem to make sense as a car manufacturer could hardly trademark red or blue vehicles to prevent a competing manufacturer from making the same coloured ones. Using the car example, it does make you wonder why Fletchers have one over the Elephant manufacturers.

          • The colour thing was just an example of how Fletchers do everything within their power to thwart any opposition which by me is fine in a competitive market. Yet what we have is a company who can’t supply a product because either a) they are trying to make sure that houses are not completed, b) they’re using their position to set prices OR c) they’re total fuckwits who are unable to read future demand.

            On top of this they bribe or coerce architects & designers to specify “gibboard” which is a trade name though generally considered in NZ to be a generic term for plasterboard or drywall. Then buildings will not be signed off as compliant if “gibboard” is substituted with another plasterboard. Then they heavy the fuckwits in BRANZ to impose bullshit standards to protect the use of their product.

            So not content with throttling the completion of needed houses they are determined to kneecap their opposition. The time to do that is when things are flowing smoothly…….not when your incompetency & greed has created a chokepoint.

    The drive-on, drive-off truck service is set to take vehicles off the road, save 2000 tons of carbon emissions a year, and free up drivers in an industry facing massive labour shortages.
