  14. I’d Ike to share with you something hilarious that happened to me the other day. It brought joy to my heart and I smile every time I think of it.

    I never wear a mask and sometimes when I see other maskless people I’ll catch their eye and say “I like your mask. I think we might have got ours from the same place”. This often prompts a conversation about the evils of totalitarianism and mass hypnosis and it’s good to acknowledge fellow human beings in the land of the robot drones.

    Well, the other day I said this to a guy in the supermarket and he said “Oh, I’ve got a condition” and paused. I fell for it and thinking he might have emphysema or something, so I said “oh really, sorry to hear that ” to which he replied “yeah….. intelligence” and we both broke out laughing. 😅

But where I have to wear a mask in order to stay on board with clients, I’m asking them how long they’re going to keep it up for.

I’m self employed and my clients don’t generally wear masks, but if I visit a client who’s wearing one I say “I have a mask exemption (shows card), but if you’d feel more comfortable I’m happy to put a mask on. No problems.” Like you, this is to stay on board with clients.

        In the majority of cases the client breathes a sigh of relief and takes their mask off too – but at any rate I can honestly say that I can’t remember when anyone insisted that I wear one.

    Russia has defaulted on its foreign debt for the first time since the Bolshevik Revolution after a 30-day grace period for the country to disburse two Eurobond interest payments expired on Sunday night. It’s a largely symbolic move given that the Kremlin has enough money to pay off the debt, but is barred from doing so because of the heavy Western sanctions leveled on the government. Last month, the U.S. Treasury Department effectively blocked Moscow from making the payments by letting a sanctions loophole expire that had previously allowed it to transfer cash to debtholders via American banks.

    Quote: “Anyone who understands this situation knows that this in no way a default,” Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov declared. “There is money and there is also the readiness to pay. This situation, artificially created by an unfriendly country, will not have any effect on Russians’ quality of life.”

    While a formal default (by a ratings agency or court) would be another sign of isolation, in this case it doesn’t mean much, as Russia currently cannot borrow internationally. In fact, it doesn’t need to, thanks to surging energy export revenues that have grown even more plentiful since the invasion of Ukraine. The grim status could influence its standing as an economic and financial pariah, however, as more multinationals flee the country or discourage foreign direct investment in the future.
    Next steps: Bondholders are likely to take a wait-and-see approach. Claims only become void three years from now and much could change before then in terms of the scope of the war or sanctions.   23. A white powder thought to be fentanyl, sold as cocaine & methamphetamine has caused 12 hospitalisations in Wairarapa in the space of 48 hours. Yesterday the local DHB confirmed that it was treating seven patients for drug overdoses but no deaths were reported.

    Yet in other less headline worthy news, statistics held by the MoH suggest that no less than seven people from the Wairarapa DHB catchment died from alcohol related causes in 2021. Figures from an official information request indicate that about 200 people are treated for disease/injury caused by alcohol each year.

    My wife and I were camping at a Motor Camp just out of Opotiki last February when a young good looking lady came into the camp office and booked and paid for the largest available cabin “for her family” for that night.

    An hour later, 6 Motor Cycles with thugs arrived followed by the very latest $500,000 Bentley Flying Spur with 6 more thugs inside arrived and to their paid for, large cabin, they went. All Tribesman.

    Within an hour they were around the going around the campsite trying to flog off drugs.

    The campers got together and within one and a half hours they were given their money back by the Campground Management and forced to fuck off by the campers. 12 tribesman against close to 100 campers seemed no match for these tough fellas.

    Bit of a campers party that night and a win for decency. No sign of Plod anywhere though. Probably getting counselling.

    After retreating in April, overall mortgage activity actually rose in May in maybe a surprising result. Total new mortgages issued in the month totaled +$6.8 bln, up from +$5.7 bln in April, but much lower than the $8.9 bln in May 2021. However, since October 2020 the trend has been lower and this latest May data doesn’t alter the downward track. Both FHBs and refi borrowers are on a similar downward trajectory – but new investor borrowing is back to just over +$1.1 bln per month and that is very much the weakest part of this market, back to late 2016 levels.     Transpower has asked for more power to be generated to avoid disruption to Kiwis’ electricity supply this evening.

      I’d make it electric and only charge the batteries with wind and solar. So the ferry didn’t run most days.

      Then I’d charge them the true cost. Around $1,000 for a 5 trip return ticket. Non refundable if the ferry doesn’t run because it’s been cloudy and windless.

  53. The housing crisis is real, and it’s partly happening because of evil manipulation. If you were wondering why it’s becoming more and more difficult to own a home (or even afford rent), you’re not the only one.

    It’s no secret we’re living in a time of ever-increasing prices. And one of the places people are getting hit the hardest is in housing. Some of this is due to economic factors like inflation and shortages, but some of this is also potentially due to blatant manipulation, by companies like Blackrock, Blackstone, Invitation Homes, and others.

    In this video, I’m first going to show you just how bad this housing crisis is. And then uncover some of the devious behaviour companies are using to drive up housing prices everywhere, and also to cover their tracks.
