  1. So we now definitely know justin Lester does what the Labour party tell him with fellow Councilors telling why and what was in Julie Anne Genters Letter.
    https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/114828737/city-councillors-claim-green-party-agreement-used-as-leverage-to-get-agreement-on-lets-get-wellington-moving
What a bunch of weasels the Labour and Green Party are as it is all about them not what the benefits it would be for Wellington. They should have excepted her resignation as soon as the letter was recieved.

    • My addition that might make it past moderation to add to the thrashing they are getting in the comments section yet again
“Have you had enough yet ! all of you that voted for this neverending incompetence lies & intimidation from overpaid activists, you should be hanging your heads in shame at being duped as easily as Ardern & her cronies have done to you, but you can make you amends to NZ society by voting them all out and ensuring the Greens dont make it to 5% that is if you value your country over their flawed socialist ideologies of course”

  2. Here in Tauranga we need to 4 lane 15th avenue as its now in gridlock.
Its a big job so our council wants a subsidy from the government NZTA.
But they can only get that if they promise to include bus lanes.
    That is madness
4 lane a road and then make 2 of those lanes for buses (dur)

    • Just take a leaf out of their book. Agree to their demands, get the road done, then change the road to a four lane. By the time it’s finished, the COL will be history.
If they can lie daily, where’s the harm?

      • “Get the road done”. We’re still waiting and waiting on the motorway connection on the southern end of Hamilton out to Tamahere to be finished. I hear it is taking forever due to many of the roading workforce having headed off overseas due to the greens cancelling all new future roading projects. NZ under the greens roading cancellations won’t need too many of that workforce to install a few rumble strips and cheesecutter wires. The company that makes those cheesecutter wires is based in Cambridge and they recently moved to much larger premises to increase their production.

    • Without needing a whiff of conspiracy, we’ve already signed onto China’s Belt and Road initiative. I don’t believe we’ve taken a red penny from the PRC yet but at some point the tax, borrow and spend coalition will find the idea of this “free” money too tempting to ignore.

Many countries that have taken the bribe have regretted it but unfortunately we’re been governed by the CoL. So,other countries’ experiences will remain an unlearned lesson.

    • They won’t need the 3 billion provincial growth fund next election, so can use some of that to cover the 2.5 billion shortfall noted in the article.

There are some scary numbers in that article though. What is this health system going to cost us 20 years from now?

And how many of you take out private health insurance anyway?

I really think it needs to be redesigned a bit.

      • Technically, there is no limit to a health budget: it will absorb everything the taxpayer throws at it. It’s actually one the criminal things our government does as it decides what the limits should be rather than the people (through the free market). IOW, the government gets to decide who lives or dies.

        • There needs to be some emphasis placed on personal responsibility of looking after your own health. No need to be obsessional about it but eat and drink sensibly and turn up for hospital appointments.

    • The Brits told NZ goodbye to trade in 1974 when they joined the Common Market. NZ survived, and the Brits will too. Their markets are literally hours away across the channel, not half a world away. NZ is standing by to export our lamb, wine and other products.

When we were in the UK and Ireland last year you could always guarantee to find Malborough Sav Blanc wherever we settled in for a wine.

    • Wait till petrol and groceries start to rise with the dollar dropping also, they are moaning about household debt now so how will this help apart from encouraging more borrowing. Then those living off the interest of their saving will also get hit hard.

    • I watched the Bolt Report on Sky last night and they had a couple of Aussie economists discussing a few issues. One raised the fact that the RBNZ had lowered the OCR and then added that Adrian Orr has said there could be negative interest rates in the future ( I think a couple of EU countries are in this territory already).
Either things are a lot worse than we think or the CoL internal polling is dropping like a stone or they have lost the plot in Wellington or some sort of combination of them all.

Either way we are entering worrying territory in NZ.

      Far more effective memes around.

    • Sexual harassment is a growing theme in Labour circles. First there was the Labour camp in the woods, then the highly placed Labour member in parliament and now the CAA. You can guarantee if this had been in the National camp the names of these predators would have been leaked to the msm. Labour have a problem with entitlement and protection of those predators by the very top of their leadership.

Zero accountability. Zero responsibility. Zero targets.

They are above the laws, their families and friends are above the laws. They will not adhere to their campaign promises. They will sell their principles for votes. They represent the absolute worst of politicians. And Genter, Ardern, etc. are all part of them.

    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/te-manu-korihi/396236/police-will-reduce-presence-at-ihumatao-protest-wally-haumaha

“Mr Haumaha was welcomed onto Ihumātao on Tuesday, following a tense stand off on Monday night between police and mana whenua, who oppose the Mangere site being developed for housing.

Miscommunication between the police and protesters led to the tense stand off, he said.

Mr Haumaha has assured the occupiers he will ensure that does not happen again.”

Does your mate Winston agree with you Wally?

    • Yes there are lots of economists saying we are heading for trouble.
And they all want the government to spend more.
Yet Grant Robertson thinks we are going OK.
Willie Jackson thinks unemployment is dropping.

    • I believe that cut was not necessary.
It has removed any cushion that we had if there is a world crisis.
And it is time that the COL took full responsibility for the drop in confidence and GDP that they have caused.

      0

      0

      • I’m just pleased hubby and I are ‘squared away’ financially. The Reserve bank and COL making a blanket statement for consumers ‘to increase their spending for the good of the economy’ is reckless when not explained to those who are already spending above their income and have high credit card debt. It isn’t going to be pretty for them when the bottom drops out of the economy and the banks want their loans paid back.

        0

        0

        • As a general rule of thumb always do the opposite of what they say. When they say “spend”, you’ll want to save and vice versa.

  7. A few months ago I read an article which described the type of person we need to head a political party in NZ. In it they wrote of a mythical leader who displayed,”steel, compassion and absolute clarity”.

They even suggested the requisite qualities, “diversity, kindness, compassion, home for those who share our values. Refuge for those who need it.”

Just in case we’d forgotten how to use a Thesaurus the Guardian mentioned “consensus, demonstrating action, care, unity”.

Where o’where would we find such a leader. Surely there must be someone who can inspire us by example!

    • The lame stream media is desperate to find a left wing leader that isn’t utterly shit. Ardern is far enough away from them to give the delusion of competence.

If the CoL returns in 2020, the stench might permeate too close to them that they’ll pretend they’ve never heard of her or this NZ place.

Easy. The Rotherham Council are acting on behalf of religious nuts who believe that women are nothing more than punching bags, cum receptacles & breeding facilities for Godaddled men.
