So after 35 years as an Official Language of this country, the millions upon millions spent each year, the combined Billions spent on this Language over the 35 years, probably the same percentage of people in this country speak Maori now as they did when it became an Official Language on the 1st August 1987.

    I defy anyone to give me Official and proven figures showing otherwise.

  2. I spent some time cleaning out a set of drawers in my business workshop yesterday and apart from finding 8 boxes of 10 x N11y champion spark plugs that may be useless in 2022 I also came across an original I pod ,you know one of the ridiculously tiny ones that came out I’m guessing 20 years ago??
    I found the necessary adaptors to fit it to the “Kicker” stereo system in the workshop (also an antique) and unbelievably it fired up ,listening to one of the tracks these lyrics came up,

        Foreigners will watch Shortland Street, and go – I’m not flaming traveling half way around the world to work with people who are mental cases, unfaithful, shag one another, and bring all their problems to work.

        A mate had multiple conversations with nurses in hospital last year, who directed him to watch “New Amsterdam”, which they had binge watched, stating that that was how the hospitals should be run. Where actually practicing medicine and saving lives was the top priority. Not working in a broken system where following daft policies and massaging management egos was first priority.

        Nurses are leaving in droves. Just as Airline staff left British Airways in droves to go work at Virgin Air when it opened, for a lot less money, but without the abuse.

        Things have to be really bad in hospitals when experienced nurses on good money go and get a cleaning job for less money and they classify their move as a step forward. A step forward it is, without the stress of knowing they are harming patients.

          • You’re right WG…….that’s exactly what happened. Workingmen knocked off at 4.30 or 5pm & had a couple of jugs at the local watering hole. Even after 6 o’clock closing got the arse most were home for tea not much after 6pm.

            Topics discussed around the leaner were fairly predictable. How useless the current All Blacks were, what horse was a dead cert to win (& afterwards why it didn’t) & how the current mob of politicians were fucking the country. Sorry but as I recall women seldom got a mention. 🙂

    A Government proposal to limit permanent exotic forests has been left to rot, according to a letter from the Climate Change Minister.

    Earlier this year, the Government proposed that exotic trees in permanent forests would not be eligible to earn and sell carbon units.

    Rural communities are concerned about new pine blocks. The Climate Change Commission says mass exotic planting would slow pollution cuts and “put our economy at a competitive disadvantage”. But because planting pine could be hugely profitable, foresters and landowners – including Māori leaders – vehemently opposed the suggestion.
