In that connection, our (Supposedly) independent local newspaper (which is ‘conveniently’ owned by Stuff), carries an article by Louisa Cleave and Paula Penfold titled ‘VFF Goal: Make NZ ‘Ungovernable’.

As the ‘paper is a ‘Stuff subsidiary, the article is, to put it mildly, slightly biased against VFF….

  2. Jeepers, fan-girl Fran has left the reservation:

Fran O’Sullivan: Gaurav Sharma affair is a mess — ‘reject’ that, Prime Minister

“After more than a week of posturing, Jacinda Ardern finds herself in the position of Henry II of England who famously and publicly is said to have anguished: “Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?” before his knights jumped into action and slaughtered Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury in the 12th Century.

Ardern continues to absolutely “refute” or “reject” some quite damaging allegations by her backbencher Gaurav Sharma.

But like Becket before him, Sharma will be politically killed off next week via expulsion by the members of Ardern’s caucus. If there is a show of hands on Sharma’s fate, it would be a brave person who kept theirs in their pocket.

Ardern won’t have to plunge the knife herself. That’s how sophisticated PMs run their shows these days.

But it is extraordinary that the Prime Minister has got herself into the position of being publicly labelled a liar by a mutinous MP on multiple media outlets.

The “story” has already gone beyond New Zealand’s shores. As such it frankly does not do the Prime Minister’s reputation much good at all, as it is about a lapse in political management of an issue which is both consequential (the allegations) and inconsequential (the MP making them).

Her rote responses to Sharma’s allegations of caucus bullying with an “I refute …” or an “I reject …” have done her no favours with the public. This, coupled with her initial hand-wringing approach which carried clear innuendo about the state of the MP’s mental wellbeing, has just enraged the junior politician to the point where he no longer gives a damn about the consequences to his own political career.

The Hamilton West MP was elected in Labour’s 2020 landslide victory.

    He is 38.

He came in on the tide and will go out the same way at the next election.

The Ardern method of shutting down matters has also spread to the lower orders of the Beehive.

Emergency Management Minister Kieran McAnulty has adopted her frustrating political patois with the way in which he has responded to Sharma’s claims of caucus bullying (by him).

You have to wonder whether junior ministers think this is the way into the boss’ books. Why else would they parrot stereotypical responses instead of getting into the guts of the allegations against them?

Typically, no real detail has been offered by either the Prime Minister or McAnulty that would substantiate their rejection of Sharma’s allegations. It’s just been more of the “I refute”, “I reject” prefacing of comments (or “absolutely refute” in the PM’s case, punctuated with an “If I may …” whenever some pesky interviewer zeroes in on the obvious inconsistencies in her approach to this matter).

The upshot is Ardern, in particular, is now being openly mocked on social media over the way she shuts down issues without actually putting substantive facts on the table.

This is a silly position to have arrived at and does nothing for the Prime Minister’s own standing among thinking people.

Sharma will be expelled from Labour’s caucus next week.

He has made a lot of claims against caucus whips. But while the clear innuendo from the Beehive suggests he is a borderline fantasist with a strong narcissistic streak, it is clear he is not alone in believing he has been hard done by.

His revelations to Newshub’s Jenna Lynch — backed up by a tape of a conversation with another MP who clearly shares Sharma’s view that he would have been ambushed if he had turned up to a special caucus meeting earlier in the week — do demand further examination. At the very least they underpin that he is not a total political fruitcake.

The leaked exposure by the second MP of pre-determination at Monday’s private caucus meeting, from which Sharma was excluded, makes it clear natural justice was never intended.

So the enraged MP has continued to chip away with multiple accusations this week.
“This is about the credibility of a nation’s Prime Minister, who every step of the way has been lying,” he said on multiple radio networks this week.

He wants a public inquiry to hold people to account and claims he has been subject to a “kangaroo court in a banana republic”.

The brutal truth is that the Labour Party’s version of damage control also does not allow for introspection.

The pity of the affair is, the MP is going down in flames over an issue that could have been more astutely managed all round — including by him.

And it’s not over an important public policy principle as with others who have stood aside from the pack like National MPs Marilyn Waring and Derek Quigley.

There are no winners in this time-wasting affair.”

      • There was nothing in Dr Sharma’s telling of what happened to him that made me believe he is a narcissist it shows what a nasty bunch of assholes the liarbor party is. In saying that I think National party are similar in their behaviour. Look at how they have ousted the leaders over the last couple of years. And we have nude nut in charge now so what does that tell you? Possibly all parties are the same it does make you wonder at the calibre of politicians. FFFFJA the absolute liar.

    • Well Fran has turned left a long while ago. Just another flunky with lousy views and god alone knows why she is employed for her lack of wisdom. No cutting edge research just a lazy tart these days.

I suspect that Sharma has a lot more to feed out yet and like many of these things once it gets going then all hell will descend from on high.
actually one gets rather sick of these tired old women journo’s and their pathetic attempts to influence public opinions.
Jenet wilson has started this morning. another broken down waste of space.
Janet Wilson is a freelance journalist formerly working in PR, including a stint with the National Party. She contributes a column weekly.

OPINION: There’s revolt afoot in this year’s local body elections fuelled by a “vacuum in our democracy”. That last phrase comes from former US President Barack Obama in a 2018 speech to Illinois University.

In that speech he said: “When we don’t vote, when we take our basic rights and freedoms for granted, when we turn away and stop paying attention and stop engaging and stop believing and look for the newest diversion, the electronic version of bread and circuses, then other voices fill the void.”

      https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/opinion/129619403/janet-wilson-dangerous-voices-looking-to-fill-the-vacuum-in-our-democracy

Now given that CDC have clearly admitted in the last day or so that the covid thing is a hoax around perhaps these people should just piss off and leave the real people to go ahead and make the changes.

More; and see what you think of this language.
“This includes the eight conspiracy theorist candidates under the Sovereign NZ banner in the Far North, to Wellington mayoral candidate Barbara McKenzie, who calls Covid-19 an “alleged disease”, to the five Christchurch City Council candidates who belong to Voices for Freedom. VFF, as it’s widely known, includes the seemingly benign Lululemon-clad yummy mummies who were highlighted in Stuff Circuit’s documentary Fire and Fury.

They look genial, but their twisted ideas are anything but; this mob have plans to establish systems of resilience to “start really looking at what it takes to become ungovernable”, as Claire Deeks, one of VFF’s founders, declared recently. And to do that, VFF candidates have been told to hide their affiliation to the group.”

Clearly time for a mental institution for this stupid tart. And yes she is entitled to her opinion provided that’s what it is rather than an instruction or paid copy from elsewhere.

Not worthy of being a Kiwi any longer.

      10

      1

      • Viking, so people like Barbara McKenzie whose opinions, ideals and views don’t meet Janet Wilson, (wife of the left leaning self opiniated Bill Ralston) view of life and politics. As such, Wilson believes Barbara McKenzie should be maligned when Wilson states in her opinion piece, this.

“This includes the eight conspiracy theorist candidates under the Sovereign NZ banner in the Far North, to Wellington mayoral candidate Barbara McKenzie,”

What experience in life makes Janet Wilson an expert. being able to determine what a “Conspiracy Theorist” is or not?

It seems Janet Wilson is a very staunch student of Joe McCarthy and McCarthyism as she seems to wish to vilify anyone with an opinion different to hers and have them banned from society.

But there again, Wilson is a Stuff contributor so why should I be surprised. The things is I guess, most people would not give a Toss what Wilson writes, for it is the people who will decide whether Barbara McKenzie is a worthy candidate or not, despite Wilsons’ wish to publicly dissuade them otherwise.

        • It is amazing how the odd ‘worked for National’ for a while is added to suggest that they are right leaning and so it must be true, balanced and anything negative said with regret.

The Nats are not tribal when it comes to employment from what I can see or they would sacl the whole public service when they are elected.

    • Thanks Saggy. & Viking

As it is always this again passes Ardern’s buck, like “Where is Gayford” and what happen to the nannies to hide Ardern’s ineptness, incompetent, or does it, when the agenda is in so many ways to wreck the New Zealand systems & institutions, and NOT rebuild back better.

To use the people who spring up to create anarchy-tyranny, like gas-lighting judiciary system, education system, that unsettles, un-stabilizes people, making them waste time & energy, just trying to survive.
Any good people who can see through that narrative, then have the media attack dogs set on them, to harness the lawless anarchists to further the personal attacks.

“Allegations that the Government is coaching MPs to get around the Act are serious and contrary to the principles of that legislation. The Ombudsman should investigate them.”
      https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PA2208/S00180/ombudsman-should-investigate-sharma-claims.htm

The system is setting out to dampen down these issues, as if “nothing to see here, move on” as if they are the most compliant democratic government.
Compliant to the WEF-UN-WHO with mandatory concepts;– UNDRIP for He Puapua, 3 Waters, co-governance, UN Global Migration Pact, where one is assured that is all is being put into “Best Practice” etc..

Judge Boshier confirmed he had written to Ms Ardern to “seek assurances” about Labour’s OIA obligations.
      .
“I am aware of the allegations made by Dr Sharma about the workshop advice and training given to Labour MPs on the Official Information Act,” Judge Boshier said.
      .
“I have written to the Prime Minister to seek her assurance that she, along with her ministers, MPs and staff, understand their obligations under the OIA and apply the right processes when handling official information and responding to requests.”
      .
The Prime Minister’s office said in a statement it “both understands and acts in accordance with the OIA”, in response to Judge Boshier’s concerns.

      https://www.odt.co.nz/news/national/chief-ombudsman-forwards-%E2%80%98please-explain%E2%80%99-letter-ardern

Why would any one want to know more? 🙁
Ardern is using the ungovernable, from the position of having creating anarchism, that only benefits her style of government, to bring further controls on the general public that “awaken” to this “wokeness”.

The Chief Ombudsman Peter Boshier says the passing of new whistleblower legislation will help reinforce New Zealand’s international reputation as a free and transparent society.

So more protections for the whistle blower? ….. yeah right …

As Kieran McAnulty said, it will be only Ardern who calls for an investigation, so “move on, nothing to see here”.
With Ardern’s kindly confirmation”Yip yip that’s what it is”.

    • Yep she need committing to a mental unit.
Given her life in journalism one would reasonably expect her to know what the word “facist” means and if she did then perhaps she would have written a different article.

All she had to do was consult Google for an explanation.

      • Benito Mussolini was first leader of Italy’s socialist communist party in 1912 before he become leader of the Fascist Party. There’s little difference between them. The useful idiots like Janet have been screaming fascist since forever, and its now meaningless. Post-modernists have a “boy who called wolf” problem.

The “dangerous voices” are only dangerous to her media regime of whores, whom are in the process of committing slow hari-kari.

  4. Some things about the children’s remains in the suitcase don’t make sense.

If the children were on visitor’s visas, surely the immigration department would have noticed when their visas expired.
If the children attended a local school, wouldn’t the school have reported the absence to the authorities?
How come the parents/care-givers didn’t report the children as missing?

Asian families (particularly ones from minor Asian countries) tend to form connections with expats. Surely someone would have noticed something. (In Auckland there are several mutual support groups for Japanese mothers who have small children.)

Unless New Zealand has an extradition treaty with the Asian country in question, nothing more will come of this. (Like most other Western nations, New Zealand does not have an extradition treaty with China — mainly to keep the long arm of the CCP at bay.)

  9. I think Fran O’Sullivan and Janet Wilson(especially) are living in a fantasy world. If they think that Dr Sharma will be voted out of the Labour caucus and that will be it, they are deluded. All swept under the carpet and issue has gone away, no way.

Dr Sharma has made some very clear, “nuclear bomb” type statements. ( “This is about the credibility of a nation’s Prime Minister, who every step of the way has been lying,” he said on multiple radio networks this week.) An intelligent guy like him does not do that without bomb proof evidence to back them up. Yes they will kick him out but it will be like the kick off for the second half in a rugby game –I hope.

O’Sullivan and Wilson do not seem to grasp this is not some ex union goon who has become a Labour MP. I cannot remember an MP from any party with the backbone and intelligence of Dr Sharma. The closest would ironically be Winston Peters –except in Winston’s case I would substitute intelligence with street cunning

Yes that all sounds about right. Dr Sharma is an incredibly intelligent man and can run rings around the lot of them. I hope they have bitten off more than they can chew and he is the finish of most of them.

  12. Doing the rounds….ouch, ouch and trebble ouch…

A letter to the Mad Queen…

“During Dr Sharma’s medical training he would have received considerable tuition in ethical behaviour. The application of ethics in his chosen profession is an essential and fundamental requirement. Ethics require honesty, the recognition of human dignity, personal integrity and accountability. Ethics is the study of what is right or wrong in human conduct and moral principles. Dr Sharma’s medical career has no reference of him ever deviating from these values.

Unfortunately, for him, he has discovered ethical behaviour is a foreign concept within the confines of the Labour caucus. As a man of principal he has felt obliged to address what, in his view, is the appalling lack of adherence to the fundamental values of ethical behaviour. And you, as leader of the Labour caucus, will have to accept full responsibility. But this is unlikely considering your track record of dishonesty, political manipulation and egocentric behaviour insisting you are never wrong when all the evidence proves otherwise.

Your political career is rapidly disintegrating as more and more people are becoming aware that your influence on New Zealand’s well being has plunged the country into a divided, debt-ridden hell hole of the South Pacific. Dr Sharma is a breath of fresh air emerging from the densely polluted Labour caucus. It will be quite appropriate that Dr Sharma should be expelled from the Labour Party. There is no place for a person who elevates personal ethics above political ambition within Labour. The evidence confronts you every time you look in the mirror.

You claim Dr Sharma breached trust by going public with his concerns. Please explain why he has to protect unethical behaviour? It is little wonder you refused an independent enquiry. To instigate an independent enquiry would have been the ethical thing to do. It would have flushed out the truth but you can’t handle the truth therefore the rot will continue. Dr Sharma has exposed the coward that you are. There is no greater example of unethical behaviour than claiming “nothing to see here”.

The notions of freedom and democracy mean nothing to the new breed of LEFT/RIGHT Machiavellian’s pulling on the levers of power. They care nothing for morality and restraint of natural law. It’s only raw power. Worship of Money. The sooner people wake up, and admit they are under assault, the better. Turn to traditional, timeless values, in a post-modern setting. Reject rule by fools.

  14. I read this last night. It includes a part transcript of the Lynda Warton interview with Rodney Hide on the The Platform. It was 3 hours of people giving their own story of vax injuries.

Note a couple of things —1. The Platform ( at the time of Lynda’s writing) had not put up the interview on their site. What are they scared of?
    2. Look at the texts received by Rodney during the interview. Crazy people. One says something like “Why are you giving these antivaxxers the time?” These are people who had the vax and were injured. It must be a PM’s office PR person writing the text.

In Communist-led New Zealand, and with a ‘stacked’ court system, , this result should not come as a surprise, and is only the start of CCP-type persecutions of all adn any group that dl deems to be acting against her interests.

I doubt that lux flakes will make any comment BTW.

  18. Bit of a focus change,
Janet Wilson , Sharma etc etc have put their fingers on the MMP created possibility of one party Government.
This has been coming for generations,,accelerated by MMP ,
It is bureaucracy that governs NZ. Politicians just take home their pay.
A shining example is the RMA which every party has been going to change ,but don’t .
This act was prepared to third reading stage by Labour and because of opposition parties delays failed to make it law prior to Labour losing the election.
This act was a major reason Labour lost the election.
“ So post election Bolger ,and Upton ,passed the act with no changes.”
    Cynical one party politics!
Wait for the same outcomes with Three Waters etc etc!
Luxon has already started softening up the populace by actively promoting their “ blue green “ .policies.
Will Labour and National form a grand coalition
    Wait for it!
    On Stuff today

“People were nervous but loved seeing her in control. It was almost unsafe to criticise her.”

So quoted from David P Farrar.

And yet people like Rissole and Starving Artist and Saggy went and protested, despite facing police and police cameras, and we were abused in the MSM as ‘racists’ and granny-killers.

I think Farrar admits that the National Party of NZ are yellow cowards.

White feather time. Or rather half of a white feather as they don’t even deserve a full one!

  20. “This man was born in 1809.
In 1816, at age 7, he was forced to work because his family was expelled.
In 1818, he lost his mother.
In 1828, he lost his sister.
In 1831, he opened his first business and went bankrupt.
In 1832, he stood in the legislative elections and lost.
In 1833, he borrowed money to open another business and went bankrupt again.
In 1835, he met a wonderful woman. He falls in love with her, they get engaged, and she dies.
In 1836, he entered a dark period of his life: deep depression.
He remains bedridden for 6 consecutive months. But he gets up.
He gets up and in that same year of 1836 he runs in the legislative elections and loses again.
In 1840 he presented himself as an elector; he loses.
In 1842, he met the woman he would end his life with.
They fall in love, get engaged, get married and she gives him 4 children and they lose 3 (three).
In 1843, he appeared at the congresses and lost.
In 1845, he appeared again at the congresses and lost again.
    In 1850, his son died.
In 1854, he ran for the Senate and lost.
In 1856, he ran for Vice President, he didn’t even have 100 votes.
In ’58, he ran again for the Senate and lost again.
And in 1860 ABRAHAM LINCOLN was elected President of the United States of America 🇺🇸.
He was elected for two exceptional terms (he was assassinated in beginning of the second term.) He was one of the most respected and impactful Presidents in the history of the United States 🇺🇸.
It’s important to tell this story of perseverance because we see the hero, but we don’t see the backstage of the afflictions. “

  21. Steven Joyce: School shake-up needed for the sake of our kids
    20 Aug, 2022 06:02 AM
Amidst all the political dramas of the last couple of weeks, one of the most consequential announcements has not garnered the level of public attention it deserves. This was the government’s decision to lower the bar for NCEA achievement in our schools for the third year running.

Blaming low school attendance, and not just as a result of Covid, government agencies have decided to make NCEA easier to achieve once again. So much easier that, as one senior principal has already pointed out, many 16- and 17-year-old students will have already achieved the new low requirements for this year’s NCEA pass. Students who have attended most of the first half of the year are effectively being incentivised to take the rest of the year off.

  22. Chris Finlayson’s ‘venomous’ memoir

The best two New Zealand political autobiographies or biographies of recent decades are Michael Bassett’s contentious 2008 Working with David and Sir Michael Cullen’s wonderful 2021 Saving Labour. Both were written by academic historians. In contrast, most attempts by recent New Zealand politicians or their proxies to document their time in office (and settle scores) have been lightweight and risible. I guess they know their market, and their subjects. Christopher Finlayson’s new memoir Yes, Minister is another easy-to-read sketch, but it’s full of the magnificence of his intellect, wisdom…and venom.

Inevitably, I took most delight in Finlayson’s takes on the National Party, since I agree with almost everything he says about both the party’s personalities and practice. It turns out we despise the same National people, despair of the same party tendencies and celebrate the same elements of social and economic progress National has delivered over the last three decades.

    • Finlayson is as complicit as Geoffrey Palmer in the ‘co-governance’ nightmare we are heading into. Nothing on this planet would move one cent from my pocket to that smug pricks bank account for any of his thoughts. May he rot in history.

  25. A bloke was sitting at the side of the road crying his eyes out, his dead hamster in his hands. A fairy godmother asked him what the matter was. He said “I loved my pet hamster and it just died ”. The fairy godmother said “Well I can’t bring it back to life, but I can suggest that you can make some good of the situation”. The bloke asked “How do I do that ?” The fairy godmother replied “Go home put the hamster in a pan and add a bag of sugar. Heat the pan up stirring well and simmer for an hour. Allow to cool, pour it onto your garden and see what happens”. The bloke did exactly as she suggested. The next day, he went into the garden and there were masses of daffodils everywhere! He ran back to the road where he’d seen the fairy godmother and she reappeared and asked the bloke how he’d got on. He said “It’s fantastic, there are daffodils everywhere!” The fairy godmother replied “That’s really strange, you normally get tulips from hamster jam!”🤣🤣
    Aaaaaye Thank you!

I’m leaving to join Labour about now.

“WE HAVE GOT THINGS WRONG, THERE IS A STORY TO BE TOLD” – PAULA PENFOLD

Paula Penfold has just proven the freedom community right.

Penfold admits misrepresenting some people in “Fire & Fury.”

The story they wanted told was the story of vaccine injuries, doctors being silenced and scientists being shut down.

“But I can’t tell that story,” says Penfold.

Our question, along with all of those who went to Wellington is, why not?

She goes on to admit there is a story to be told at some point in the future about what they got right & what they got wrong.

“Because we have got things wrong….” she concedes “

Only on a temporary basis then the pre-ordained social orders are reinstated.

  27. Three young women are at a cocktail party. The conversation turns to their position in life and it’s clear that they are trying to one-up each other.
The first one says, “My husband is taking me to the French Riviera for two weeks on vacation,” and then looks at the others with a superior demeanor.
The second one says, “Well, my husband just bought me a new Mercedes,” and looks about with considerable pride.
Number three says, “Well, to be perfectly honest with you, we don’t have much money and we don’t have any material possessions. However, one thing I can tell you about my husband is that thirteen canaries can stand shoulder to shoulder on his erect penis.”
After this, the first one looks shamefaced and says, “Girls, I’ve got a confession to make. I was just trying to impress you. You know that vacation I was telling you about? Well, it’s not to the French Riviera, it’s to my parents house for two weeks.”
The second one says, “Your honesty has shamed me. It’s not a Mercedes, he bought me a Fiat 500.”
“Well,” the third one says, “I also have a confession to make, canary number thirteen has to stand on one leg!”
