  1. The only think that has effected prisoner’s in our jails not being able to vote is Labour doesn’t gain out of crime. What a load of poppy cock saying it’s against the treaty of Waitangi to not give them the vote.
    https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/114914807/waitangi-tribunal-calls-for-urgent-law-change-to-allow-prisoners-to-vote-in-2020-election
You do the crime that puts you in prison so you do the time, the problem is nowadays is it’s more like a holiday camp than a prison and gets more privileges for offending than the victims do with some families paying the price of life for a prisoner’s bad judgement.

    • Arthur Taylor says prisoners feel disconnected when the elections roll around so should be able to vote. Well, diddums. Your actions got you banged up. All the victims of your crimes have to live with that every day or their loved ones have to live without those victims every day. If prisoners want to vote then don’t commit crime.

          Yes 7%
          No 93%

          Total disconnect by the COL.

          • WG, according to Angry, the Waitangi Tribunal findings have substantive weight. RNZ then interviewed some Maori woman who talked about her humanity being stripped. It is and for a very good reason. They are criminals and they are incarcerated because they are not to be part of society and they lose rights to participate in society.

Claims that it doesn’t help rehabilitation or that it is anti Maori are rubbish. If you do the crime expect to end up behind bars and suffer the consequences.

    • with some families paying the price of life for a prisoner’s bad judgement.

Often families are left paying the price for a judge’s bad judgement too. That’s the tragedy of our ‘justice’ system.

But never mind. All will be well. The government is going to abolish prisons soon and everyone will be happy. Won’t they?

  2. There is a comment in what would have to be the joke of the year in NZ Politics.
Dispite asking what the public think of the QIA, the Government remains non- committal about whether or not the law needs a rewrite. While State Services Minister Chris Hipkins has acknowledged a culture of game-playing and said the act needed more teeth, “Justice Minister Andrew Little said a overhaul might not be needed because his Government was more open than his predecessors.”

    https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/114669954/ministry-to-analyse-public-oia-submissions-and-report-back-to-justice-minister-andrew-little
Integrity and Transparency is not something this Government pocesses so again another lie from our Justice Minister.

    • Justice Minister Andrew Little said an overhaul might not be needed, because his Government was more open than its predecessors

Funny. In the same way Labour removed all measures to ensure they cannot be held accountable, removing or changing the OIA prevents them from being held up to scrutiny.

They’ve taken guns away, they are working on making dissent hate speech. It is not long now, maybe a decade or two, then we’ll be a one party state with a leader for life.

  3. And with the high number of kiddies under 12 being arrested it looks like there’ll will be no sign of incarceration figures abating in the future.
We are being subjected to ineffective, incompetent governance that can only be described as a train wreck.
Is tolerance and diversity really the answer?
Might be time look at the draconian measures that worked in the past i.e. a kick up the backside.

  4. Yes I was really pleased at that report last week that said that most victims do not think the justice system serves them well.
That must have been a shock for Little as he plans to make things easier for prisoners and criminality.
The public want things made harder!

      • Hahaha that has the beginnings of a great joke… and I’m working on it. Does anyone here care to help me out and write one with me? It starts off thus:

“It was a dark stormy night when Jeffrey Epstein rolled up to the Pearly Gates and was met by Pete…. ”

        What happens next folks? ?

(Seriously. I think this could be a great joke which would grow up have a life of its own.)

        • Here’s one…

It was a dark stormy night when Jeffrey Epstein rolled up to the Pearly Gates and was met by St Peter. Pete greeted him with a big grin on his face and said:

“Hi Jeff – glad to see you finally got here. We were all expecting you six weeks ago!”

          ????

          0

          0

        • It was a dark & stormy night when Jeffrey Epstein rolled up to the Pearly Gates & was met by Pete who says he can have the introductory tour of heaven & hell then he can decide where he wants to stay for all eternity.

Heaven is all people with halo’s playing harps on clouds, singing, praying & generally praising God.

Then a demon appears & takes him down to have a look at hell .

In hell Epstein meets all of his old friends playing golf. They play a round, walk up to the 19th for champagne, fine wines, a great meal followed by port & cigars. Finally he ends up in a high class brothel with gorgeous under-aged hookers doing the kinky things politicians & financiers love to do .

The next day St Peter asks him to choose & naturally he selects hell.

He takes the elevator down to hell. The doors open & a blast from the fiery inferno hits him along with the screaming & wailing as demons torture & torment the damned.

“It wasn’t like this yesterday”, cries Epstein.

“Ah yes “said the demon smiling .

“Yesterday we were canvassing for your support, today you voted”.

    • Epsteins island (Little St James) temple reveals he ascribes to the “Mamluk” doctrine.
      Voltaire describes it thus:

“The Circassians are poor, and their daughters are beautiful, and indeed it is in them they chiefly trade. They furnish with those beauties the seraglio of the Turkish Sultan, of the Persian Sophy, and of all of those who are wealthy enough to purchase and maintain such precious merchandise. These maidens are very honorably and virtuously instructed how to fondle and caress men; are taught dances of a very polite and effeminate kind; and how to heighten by the most voluptuous artifices the pleasures of their disdainful masters for whom they are designed.”

The temples(bathhouses)arches are constructed of stone and the last stone to be placed is the “keystone.”
This symbolizes a gateway to the “other side.”

    • Wait till they bribes start. Cindy’s mate Trudeau has already piloted the approach whereby the left wing government pays the MSM to give them favourable coverage combat fake news during the election.

The problem in NZ is how will Labour be able to see if their bribes to the MSM have made coverage any more positive than it already is? It would be hard to imagine our corrupt MSM to be any more politically biased than they already are!

$135 million on investments in troubled Venezuela
$200 million on China Farms “due to the slower than expected operating performance”
$200 million here in New Zealand, thanks to “the compounding effect of operational challenges, along with a slower than planned recovery in our market share”
and $70 million on its businesses in Australia due to “continued drought, reduced domestic milk supply and aggressive competition in the Australian dairy industry”.

“These are tough but necessary decisions we need to make to reflect today’s realities,” said Hurrell, who wants to reassure farmers the co-op’s cashflow “remains strong”.

    • Fonterra is fucked.
      Simple.

Theo Spierings was a disaster for Fonterra.
Lukas Paravicini (Italian, ex Nestle) went on national Television and lied and lied. He was CFO.
They did hold back payments to suppliers and acted like a bully boy. Paravicini lied like a PM.
That was the culture of Fonterra under these Europeans who came here to render the place back into the terra.

In 2016 the top three positions in Fonterra was held by people who did not even live in NZ five years before.
The Board was crap as well. John bloody Wilson.
There was a string of disasters under Spierings. He is an evil man.
They had over 20 people on salaries of over one million dollars per annum in 2016 while the farmers had to tighten their belts and more than half the dairy farms made a loss when times were tough -based on world over-supply and China cutting back on purchase.

Beingmate, the Danone payout and loss of their business from a false alert on botulism .
      This destroyed goodwill.

Fonterra stumbled along as a price-taker commodities operation putting milk powder in brown paper bags.
It did not pursue the option to have value add products like Nestle or Danone.
It was so poor in state that it had to flog off an value add operation- Tip top milk.
Oh it did add a value-add operation > shredded cheese >pure genius //

Australia looked at the Fonterra model of one main Co-op for the whole country after it was formed and rejected the idea.

The Chinese have purchased Westland milk and will expand that.
Fonterra becomes irrelevant to them. They have the cash to expand that unlike the Fonterra set up of limited cash access. Always the Achilles heel.
I repeat: Fonterra is fucked..under its current (last 20 years ) structure.
The farmers have got the shaft in all directions.

The white gold may become pig iron and the NZ economy will suffer.
Tourism is economy sensitive (elastic demand) and a world wide slowdown will kick that into touch.
Like Dairy it is low end with many of the tourists unable or unwilling to even pay $20 a night for a campground.

And all we have in the beehive is a bunch of quivering, back stabbing, nervous nellies whose only skill is as economic thugs. Grant, Kelvin, Jacinda, Andrew….

      0

      0

      • If you look back over the years it always seemed to me that there was fight going on within Fonterra between the commodity traders and the marketers. When times were good (ie. easy) the traders were on top and when things got harder the old ” we have to add value” was trotted out and the marketers got a go but the Board did not understand the latter was a long term game and had to be persevered with.
I’m of the view that Fonterra would have been better to run as two separate entities –commodity trade and “added value” products because they take a totally different mentality to succeed.
I always remember reading many years ago the old Dairy Board and Nestle were a similar size in the early/mid 60s –obviously one organisation got it right and the other struggled. I did a Food Tech degree at Massey in the 70s–what we were taught and discussed then was exactly what they talk about today as the “future” of the dairy and meat industries.
I do not know what has happened to the DRI over the road from the Massey campus in P Nth but it used to be a world class organisation.

        0

        0

        • I would be surprised if Nestle was the same size as the Dairy Board in the 1960s as Nestle were established in the 1860s and were a multinational with FMCG products at that stage.
They have certainly grown in the last 30 years.
I would have expected Nestle to be bigger than The Dairy Board at that stage but dont readily have that info.

The model was better with farmers concentrating on production and competing Co-ops. The Dairy Board was a marketer and being core Govt it was able to piggy back on Diplomatic links.

The Dairy Board was well run and for the people on Public Service Salaries (nothing like post 1984) they were innovative. More so that the fat cats in Fonterra today.
          An irony really.
When Britain told its Commonwealth cousies to F off as they wanted to play with Europe (mmm not so good then) the Dairy Board sought out markets in the Middle East – fairly innovative then before a global view of markets, and also Russia despite the cold war.

The Massey Food Tech qual circa the 1970s was an excellent degree and one of their best products. It delivered some capable people in the Food Tech area including Dick Hubbard.

      • I think that Fonterra is the wrong business model.
They have to pay Farmers a good payout and they need capital to expand.
They are in a bad situation.
(Add to that I saw many Australia dairy farmers are walking off their land due to their low payments)

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/08/laughter-at-straight-pride-activist-s-freudian-slip.html?ref=ves-nextauto

“One young activist leading the charge against Grundmann’s march is 29-year-old student Matthew Mason. Mason, who is gay, has found himself in the awkward position of taking on his own mother too, who he says has sided with Grundmann and is one of the organisers of the Straight Pride parade.

“I am not surprised at the fact that she is doing something like this publicly. I’m just frustrated and very hurt that she has instilled this sense of fear and worry in my community. 11. How do you know you have a case of the POMS have taken over?

Answer: when there is a $4.5m tender for a network of 8,000 CCTV cameras and IT equipment services. Ostensibly, for the purposes of people’s safety.

This tender was announced recently by AT, and would possibly connect all of Auckland’s CCTV’s. And yes, the POMs are in control of AT’s IT services. The dig at the POMs beibg that the most big brother country in the world is the UK, beating China and North Korea.

Here in Auckland they are looking at 8,000 cameras for 11,500 km of road (or an average of 1 camera per 1.4 km). But here is where it gets frightening, only 2,000 or a little over 15% is monitored. So, there will be parts of Auckland where you will not be able to move without being observed. Is that the country we want?

    0

    0

      • Yes, in the UK, the first sign road works are coming is when the average speed cameras go up. The are also used to ticket people for driving in bus lanes etc. The initial justification is always security, and claims “the public” want them, but reality is very different.

  12. Not enough jokes on here of late so here goes.
The FBI are going to investigate Epstein’s Death.
    ——————

Just as we can foresee imminent poor health outcomes for Ghislaine Maxwell …
we can report now that the FBI will conclude that it was an unforeseen suicide egged on by D. J. Trump with Russian help.
Several of the Prison officers were unable to help as they had recently retired to their private Island in Fiji recently purchased from ‘family windfalls’.

Fakebook and Giggle said they would like to help in any way they can but they have absolutely no record of any activity of Mr Epstein and have never tracked any activity or events due to respecting privacy; and especially none on the server farm in Wyoming.

The FBI would also like to thank Christine Crazy Ford for her help and very accurate testimony in matters here.
She recalls a meeting 25 years ago with Epstein where he said he would end it all in 2019.
She was approached by Mr Epstein because she always spoke in a little girls voice and Mr Epstein was curious as to her age.
This strongly aided the FBI in coming to their conclusion.

        • Hi Rachel,
President Trump banned Epstein from his Mar a Lago club 15 years ago after Epstein tried to hit on one his employees daughters. Hated him ever since.
Prediction is, many high profile suicides will follow.
AG Barr is a stickler for the law. Mueller sacked him many years ago because of this.
Remember, those who shout the loudest have the most to hide.
And yes, I do follow US politics very closely.

          • The flight logs from the” Lolita Express” (Epstein’s jet) were released via Tom Fitton (Judicial Watch) filing a lawsuit under the FOIA act to gain access to said records.
The names on the lists are going to shock many. Many children.
Fitton also filed lawsuits to gain access to the pilots names.
Their testimonies have confirmed the passenger lists, among other things
There is currently 112,000 sealed indictments ready to unseal and around 6,000 unsealed.
A lot of people in high places are crapping themselves.

            • …..”A lot of people in high places are crapping themselves”…..

But they live in a nation where there’s one lawyer for every 251 citizens. By the time the release of those indictments works its way through the legal system the children will be dead from old age.

Mainly because he’s not a member of the political elite. He can’t be controlled & he treats the MSM as the joke they are.

He is his own master & they hate him for it.

                  • Yes. It’s amazing that a country that shunned hereditary privilege in its early days has evolved into the stratified society that it is now.

Anyone with doubts should recall the Bush dynasty who were probably the best connected, well bred, congenital idiots who have ever fucked over a great nation.

  13. DHB discharged woman who had collapsed and was vomiting and was later found to have a brain tumour

“The DHB had undertaken a thorough review to look at “what lessons could be learned, and what changes could be made,” he said in a statement to Newshub.

“We take patient safety extremely seriously, and acknowledge that we failed the patient and family in this instance.”

Even to non-medical it appears she was obviously unwell.

    • Wait until the stories about Dunedin Hospital come out. There’s a MoH/DHB cover up that will absolutely make your toes curl. If you have any relatives down there tell them to leave or seek private treatment further north.

      • Dunedin is completely corrupt at every turn.
I have posted previously on KB.
Sadly the DHB was merged in with Southland DHB in 2010 to drag them down.

        Dunedin is Dirty.
        >Corrupt self serving Council that loses cars and reality, whilst virtue signalling about banning oil exploration -before the SLG actually did it- but uses products from oil like cleaning products, plastics in their cellphones and laptops etc.

Aug 2016 – Dunedin City Council lost $380,000 this year when it sold shares in four equities – BHP, Origin, Rio Tinto and Woodside Petroleum – which went against its ethical investment policy.

        >University full of vapid busy bodies
Otago university employs the likes of Cliona Ni Mhurchu; Doug Sellman; Lisa Te Morenga and employed Clayton Weatherston and Bryce Edwards.

        >The DHB which ‘lost’ $18 mill over Michael Swann then only a few years later was merged with Southland DHB.
In 2015 the board was dismissed with a manager put in. ‘The board members, who were dismissed by Health Minister Dr Jonathan Coleman less than two weeks before the end of the financial year, received $357,000 in meeting fees’

        >Rugby Union in a rugby mad town went technically bankrupt and had to be rescued.

February 2017 Dunedin CEO steals $114,000
Lynette Collins-Watson, CEO of the Dunedin Kokiri Centre, a Maori training centre was today sentenced for stealing from the organisation.

So many more stories like this.

Home to Meteria Turei; Clare Curran; David Benson Pope; Grant Robertson
Former home to David Bain, Christopher Lewis and cycling distance for David Gray .

  14. I’ve been keeping a watchful eye on the latest poll being run by our beloved host where he asks “do you believe there is a god/higher being/ sky fairy?”

Disturbingly, to date, three of the perpetually bewildered have indicated in the affirmative. Can we start a ‘give-a-little’ page or at least donate the coins from the back of the settee to have these poor wretches de-programmed?

Let’s strike down the madness & give these deluded creatures their lives back! 🙂

Well at least one of them wasn’t. The tally jumped by one when Don the Kiwi visited the site a couple of days ago.

He hit the mouse so hard when he answered ‘yes’ that there’s a small dent left in the blogosphere! 🙂

    • Not sure that was for reasons of religion. It looked more like it was:

      * Because you were arguing for spending more, like Ardern.
      * Because when you were asked for at least some evidence of your claims, you turned abusive.

  15. I hope this blog does not degenerate into a religious bashing site like another blog that I just left stating with K
And get taken over in the evenings by a few guys that just like to post toilet humour.
But I do like to bash a religion that starts with i.

  16. Another thunder storm 26 hours after the last.
A big flash of lightening and clap of thunder over Ardern’s house in Sandringham as I look out the window.
The gods must be getting pissed off with her lying all the time!
    Thor is banging his hammer.

Result: Ardern will have to leave the country again – and burn more fossil fuel and leave a contrail of more lies.
First rule of Socialist Club : Never take responsibility for your own actions. Deflect.
