  1. Wow Jacinda knows better than all our economists, but why would we doubt that she’s the darling of the media and they won’t dispute the facts because they are as corrupt with figures just like Grant Robertson.
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/08/pm-jacinda-ardern-insists-economy-is-in-good-shape-despite-skill-shortage-woes.amp.html
If this was 18 months ago all her followers would be fawning all over her but they can now see grocery prices rising , Petrol on the rise again interest rates lower but still can’t help those on lower incomes to buy a house, but Penalizing those with savings that they put away for a rainy day.

    • Well it ain’t too bad currently but its shaping up to go down the shitter. No need roads will have a big effect on employment. Still lots of houses to build in some places. but no raods to get you there.

      • Reading Micheal Reddit he doesn’t seem to have a lot of faith in Adrian Orr and many of his thoughts.

        0

        0

        • I can understand, Orr was a glorified fund manager, urging people to spend up to save the economy. The other problem we have is leadership at Treasury blended with all the phoney feelz of Jacinda and Robertson.

    • Those on super will shortly have the $64 per couple fortnightly payment for “heating allowance” stopped. This will reflect on extra spending power being cut, especially for those who have no other income. Those on Veteran’s Pension, Jobseeker Support, Jobseeker Support Student Hardship, Sole Parent Support, Supported Living Payment, Young Parent Payment, Youth Payment,Emergency Benefit and Emergency Maintenance Allowance.
also get it, cannot imagine that most of those are not living up to their current payments. Expect there is going to be a lot of wailing in about 2 months time as it is taken away.
(I bet a lot of readers never knew there are so many different benefit payments)

    • Ardern said the Government is acting on stimulating the economy.

This doesn’t compute. If the government is meddling, the economy isn’t in good shape.

  3. Interesting to see Epstein had three love shacks in France.
The French have now come out and said they will investigate links to French citizens.
Many French citizens could be involved.
This is really turning into a worldwide orgy of epic proportions.
I wonder how far it goes up the food chain in France.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2019/08/weather-wind-leaves-50-foot-boat-overturned-tosses-containers-into-auckland-harbour.html

“A tornado-like waterspout reportedly hit downtown Auckland late at night near Silo Park and the port.

Wild weather destroys houses in Auckland and Taranaki
North Island to be drenched with heavy rain as wild weather continues
    Weather: Thunderstorms likely, tornadoes possible

Emergency services had to remove one person from their car on Tinley St around 10:30pm after a container was blown off a stack on Jellicoe Wharf.

A 50-foot catamaran moored at Westhaven Marina was overturned and there are reports other boats, including a ferry, came off their moorings.”

  6. Re the Preferred PM Polls
I just looked back on some old stats
And it seems to me that the encumbent pm is ALWAYS way up there.
And the leader of the opposition is always way down there
It never seems to be 50 50 or even close!
    So Simon will be OK.

President Haworth says “reasonable financial support “will be provided to those involved in the appeal process “to ensure they are able to obtain appropriate legal advice ” as the process proceeds. • Heard Bridges on Peter Williams slot yesterday. Discussing the voting rights of prisoners he made a very relevant point in that you actually have to do some seriously bad stuff to get a custodial sentence. That point seems to be completely lost on the failed lawyer and unelectable MP who is the Minister of Justice.

    • Lying Kunt that Little.
Always has been and most people who deal with him see through him which is why he does not get elected by a constituency,
or even by his own colleagues- he was only Leader of Liebour because of the Union vote.
      With friends like that…

He was the one who a few years ago said that is a woman says she is raped that is proof enough.
We have a shit useless court system in NZ with the likes of Raoul Neave but the UK has woken up to this abuse and pushing back on lying tarts that try to ruin a guys life- even complete strangers because they are pure malice and F.I.T.H.

and, Tony Fitzgerald lets off an actual multiple rapist with zero punishment- so much for Little’s lie.
      https://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/114926932/teenager-got-off-very-lightly-after-admitting-sex-attacks-on-two-girls

      Little’s lies:
We don’t need prisons …oh except for Brenton Tarrant, Brenton Tarrant, Brenton Tarrant (I’ll say the bastards name) and people who admire or even like President Donald J. Trump, oh and those who read online manifestos while it is still legal.

Angry Andrew Little is a lying Kunt and dirtbag.
Even his low life colleagues don’t think much of him. How bad is that?

  10. FBI land on Pedo Island.

A former air traffic controller at the island’s airport told Vanity Fair: ‘On multiple occasions I saw Epstein exit his helicopter, stand on the tarmac in full view of my tower, and board his private jet with children—female children. One incident in particular really stands out in my mind, because the girls were just so young. They couldn’t have been over 16.

Next minute in one incident some were under 16
To me people over 13 are teenagers, not children.
If the girls were over 18 there’s n problem.
If they were under, the person who procured them for him should be charged.

    • The FBI should have been disbanded when the sleaze Hoover finally croaked.
He blackmailed multiple consecutive Presidents in order to keep his job.
      a massive crime in itself.
He used taxpayer money to build profiles on people – both crooks and business people as well as aspiring and elected politicians.
Hoover refused to investigate organised crime. Why?
Was the creepy sicko cross-dresser being blackmailed?

This was the basis of the FBI.
A totally dirty outfit from the get go.
Their investigating anything is a farce.
They have zero legitimate jurisdiction outside the USA and with employees like James Comey they stink like 14 day old fish…and that fish was rotting from the head.
In recent times it has been a weaponised arm of the corrupt DemocRAT Party of the United States.

Sadly the USA cant think outside USA-world.
The age of consent for sexual activity varies around the world.
It even varies within the USA. Some states are 16 or 17 or 18.
Only 2 decades or so back there were US States where the age for consent was 14.

In Iceland it was 14 until 2007 and then it became 15.
In Brazil and Columbia it is 14.
In China and Italy it is 14
In France and Greece it is 15.
This is why they would have flown to other countries.
Just as the possession of weed is illegal in most US States you can go to Colorado or Oregon and it is not.

Anyway, The FBI will cock up anything they touch.
It is a political outfit now, not one of Law and Order.
They will use this opportunity to discredit their selected enemies.

  11. Question:

If prison was actually a punishment with unpleasant conditions and working for low pay on projects of national significance such as road building, tree planting and other large scale pieces of work – would you agree with prisoners being able to vote? Given they are paying for their crimes and contributing to the country?

    0

    0

    • No.
      It doesn’t address recidivism.
      It doesn’t address victims rights.
Voting is a privilege. Harm isn’t.

      0

      0

      • I’m working my way through this, trying to reason out what I think about this. So bit of a derailment in thought here.

I don’t want prisoners to have rights – it feels like they’ve fundamentally turned against their society. That seems like the easy answer though and they do, in general, lose a lot of what we’d consider rights within our society. No more choice in what to eat, when to sleep, where to go, etc. Your life basically becomes constrained to a regimented lifestyle. And that makes sense, although I’d argue our justice system is far too accommodating and far too lenient. I believe we need far harsher punishments.

I’d also like to have only net taxpayers vote. The people that pay to keep this country afloat should be the ones determining how it goes forward. You know, how Starship Troopers had democracy as something acted on by the citizens, who had performed some form of federal service (Military, teaching, etc.) Heilin had it only on elections, the movies expanded the concept a bit for two child policy, etc.

But that one, feels wrong to me, even though I’d like it to be in-place. And then I ask myself, which circumstances justify depriving a citizen of their vote? Somebody, not a prisoner, who only takes from the society and doesn’t give – why should they be allowed to vote and why are they seen as better than a prisoner? And on what do you measure contribution?

If somebody isn’t a net taxpayer, but spends 60 hours a week doing social work and helping other people? What about the disabled kid at my daughters school? He’s a gopher for the teachers and a fantastic person, but he’s never going to be a net taxpayer. Yet he’s contributing to the extent of his ability.

Maybe that’s it. Maybe it is how far your ability reaches? Dunno, more to think about and see if there are some good texts to read on this subject. If anybody has a book or a thesis recommendation, I’d appreciate it.

    • This is utterly symptomatic of the problems with the current public service. Peter Hughes is fully invested in the nuttiness of diversidy he always has been – just this government has given free rein to this side of him. McPherson should never have been appointed in the first place, she had no background in stats – just another public servant careerist. The appointment process (admittedly under the incredibly useless Iain Rennie) would’ve gone something like this:
      1) Is she a woman?
      2) Women can do anything!
      3) Appoint her
      4) Phew – another step along the way to gender equity (regardless of capability)

It was devastatingly obvious from the start of the census that something was seriously wrong, but McPherson (you had one job! and you only have to do it every five years FFS) refused to accept all the evidence coming in and boxed on (this is typical of all the failures from public service CEs over the past few years – utterly unable to respond to any kind of problem until it’s waaaaay tooo late).

And then to let blame go to the business for not advising upwards! That’s a massive cop-out. All you had to do was listen to the radio for 20 seconds during the census and it was obvious it was all going to pot.

It’s not just the UK and the US that has a massive cadre of largely unaccountable elites screwing simple stuff up – there’s a Liz McPherson in charge of just about every govt department – she was just unlucky that this was such a monumentally huge fuck-up there was no way to duck this one. But don’t worry – Ms McPherson will be quietly doing quite a bit of “leadership” consultancy stuff for SSC over the next few years to tide her over, so she won’t suffer too much. There’s always a quid pro quo for ‘taking one for the team’.

  17. Has Jacinda got the police doing to much of her work for them to go out to solve minor crime.
    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/crime/news/article.cfm?c_id=30&objectid=12258124
This mother went out and solved the burglary and theft of her children’s remote controlled sit on car, rang the police and told them she had found it and could also prove it,but the response she received was not what she expected. The police said they were to busy and if she would like to ring back in a couple of days they would see what they could do it then.
This is not the promise we got from Winston or Jacinda when campaigning to be the Government.

    0

    0

    • That has long been the case.
The cops do not like you showing them up (not difficult) and will blackball you when you do.
(I did not read the story. the Horrid, eek. )

Prove where you stolen car or phone is via GPS and they will charge you if you enter the premises of the criminal. Arse about face- yes!

      0

      0

    • There wasn’t even much solving work required – she knew where her property was. The police simply had to confirm and retrieve it. I do note the criminal is now in custody, so I assume something must have happened. Do you know what that was as the article doesn’t say much about the events afterwards?

We really need a government that gives a stuff about property rights.

If property can not be taxed, then it seems that re-distribution is another way. 🙁 to help the ‘poverdy’ stricken children.

Then there are other far more important humanity sciences for the police to protect, like diversity, human rights, cultural enrichment, trigger words, etc..
I think it is somewhere in all the fineprint of the CoL agreement.

  19. IP banning has risks. Remember:

    * We don’t all have static IPs. Yes, it is recommended to retain an IP when a lease renews, but it is not guaranteed. Congratulations on banning somebody else.
    * IPv4 isn’t dead yet, so we still deal with NAT or even VPN equivalent devices to help overcome a smaller addressable space. Congratulations on banning a group of other people.

There are better ways to handle it.

Notwithstanding Geros was in a car pursued by police last week in an event that lead to manslaughter (Ok, Allegedly)

It makes you wonder where Raoul F. Neave gets his lawnmowers !

  22. Some people (not on here) naively think big tech is pure as driven snow and do not censor their platforms.
Well apparently Facebook has blocked one of Alan Jones’ interviews from his Sky News program.
Guess what it was about –you guessed it, Climate Change and it was extremely good. Watch it if you missed it.
My guess is the alarmist luvvies at the ABC objected to a good interview and alerted FB.

  23. The price of beef is about to tank!

A London university has taken drastic action in an attempt at tackling climate change, banning the sale of all beef in all campus food outlets.

That means beef-based burgers, lasagne, tacos and other staple university eats will no longer be available in the shops and cafes at Goldsmiths University when the academic year begins in September.

There really are some fuck knuckle plonkers in these places.

The college’s new head, Professor Frances Corner, told the BBC: “The growing global call for organisations to take seriously their responsibilities for halting climate change is impossible to ignore.

Obviously there is too much free money and people with fuck all to do. Needs a haircut on the funding.

    • When will we see some of these fuckwits admit the biggest threat to the planet is overpopulation. This is because the worst offenders are the poorest countries of africa and asia.

    • Wait for the students to get bored with chicken, lamb and pork (oops, can’t serve pork either). Removing favourites like beef burgers and tacos will cause complaints from those who believe paying the bill entitles them to complain.

    • Most of the wankers haven’t the foggiest notion of what they’re banging on about. On hill country NZ farms we run cattle because they trample the regenerating scrub that would otherwise need to be controlled by spray. They’ll also eat tussock grass & clumps that sheep won’t touch. When I got my property money was tight & I actually leased cattle for this purpose.

They talk of growing pulses……on most NZ farms you’d have to glue the seeds to the slopes!

  24. Not just Twoboob. The whole Alphabet group. The deliberate censorship is cutting the truth off.
The whole world is being sanitized for our own good, don’t you know.
NYT tweeted Dayton manifesto was posted on 8chan. Dumb f#@ks. 8chan had been de platformed for a week already.
    Somethings gotta give.

  25. Statistics Minister James Shaw is being coy about the resignation of the Government Statistician and Stats NZ CEO, Liz MacPherson, in the face of criticism from the Opposition that she’s being treated as a scapegoat for his failings.

MacPherson on Tuesday announced her resignation off the back of an independent report on the 2018 Census revealing a response rate of 83% across the population and only 68% among Maori.

The consequence of the low response rate is that there are significant gaps in the data, which are being filled in-part by non-census data.

Asked repeatedly in a press conference whether MacPherson’s resignation was “entirely her decision”, Shaw didn’t give a yes/no answer.

Rather, he responded: “She made the call to resign… I support her decision.”

    • Seem to be looking for taxing reasons, re-distributive so that all people will be on the same level, so there will be no reason for violence.

He is materially well- off , Philip Manshaus. He owns valuable properties and has a wealth of about SEK 3 million.

Nor does this resentment make him unusual in this context. While some of the Islamist extremists who have been targeted in recent years have grown up in the shadows of poor suburbs in European cities, terrorists with a stable economic background are not difficult to find.

…. A study conducted at Queen Mary University of London a couple of years ago showed that a young person from a family with an annual income of more than SEK 750,000 is more at risk of being radicalized than young people who are unemployed and marginalized.

And several of the young suicide bombers who took 250 lives in Sri Lanka last spring came from well-to-do families.

The list can be made significantly longer than this. Usama bin Laden belonged to a wealthy Saudi family and most of West Germany’s left-wing terrorists had a stable bourgeois background.

At the same time: Philip Manshaus seems to have acted alone. It complicates the picture. History teaches us that this kind of terrorist does not infrequently suffer from abuse and mental health problems. The ideological belief is often moderately developed.

That being said, terrorism is largely a phenomenon originating from the materially prosperous classes.

The very poorest, the ones at the bottom of the hierarchy, the ones who are fully occupied with surviving and moving from day to day cannot indulge in the luxury of being radicalized in front of the computer or throwing plans into underground cells.

It is no coincidence that we do not know any Roman [gypsy] terrorists.

      I used google translate.

Is a terrorism by the rich? So higher taxes seem to be the answer?
Then like in Venezuela, to seize all guns.
It makes it seem that there would be no terrorists in Venezuela, thank goodness, and not a problem with no toilet paper, as eco green is the real essence. //

      • I think it was Carl Benjamin who did a series of podcasts on that phenomenon: that terrorism isn’t done by the ‘hard done by’ Muslims. I believe he speculated that these terrorists were “bad Muslims”, eg. drank, whored etc., and wanted a quick way to get into their heaven.

    • A good covering of the tragic event.

Police are investigating whether the alleged attacker, Mert Ney, 21, from Blacktown in the city’s west, had escaped from a mental institution.

They do not believe the incident is terror-related, and said the alleged attacker did not have links to any terrorist organisations – despite witnesses reporting the attacker was muttering religious slogans including ‘Allahu Akbar’.

But NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said they found information on the man including a USB stick ‘suggesting he had some ideologies related to terrorism’.

The thumb drive allegedly also referenced mass shootings in New Zealand and the USA – including March’s Christchurch terror attack.

Commissioner Fuller added the suspect had been known to police, although his prior history did not compare to his alleged actions in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.

      Many good photos..
So not a “lone wolf” but a “known wolf” known to the police.

It seems the police were a few minutes away.
So what do the police say about vigilantes having done their job for them?

    • Update:- The paper is calling saying a “muslim convert”

‘Muslim convert’ shouting Allahu Akbar kills one woman during stabbing spree in Sydney before being taken down by three British men as police say the suspect had ‘terrorist ideology’

Certainly good strong skilled men on the job to take that muslim down!
