  2. If you need to get an insight on how totally out of the loop the political leadership of the western worlds economy’s are just look at the elephant in the room that is the slow moving train wreck that every one of us can see coming down the tracks towards us yet these fuckwits that are supposedly all powerful can’t do a damn thing about it apart from printing more trillions which is the very thing that has got us where we are now.
My old man would say that there are less than 100 men in charge of the financial system on earth and I’d think he was crazy but he may very well have been right, the thing is who are these Cnuts??

    • Skydaddy’s little helpers scent the heady gift of power to force their prejudices on all. Before they start spontaneously spoofing everywhere at the prospect they should read the thoughts of one of their more reasoned fellow nutters:

“Christian nationalism tends to treat other Americans as second-class citizens. If it were fully implemented, it would not respect the full religious liberty of all Americans. Empowering the state through “morals legislation” to regulate conduct always carries the risk of overreaching, setting a bad precedent, and creating governing powers that could later be used against Christians.”.

Covid 19: Gone by Wednesday? Government set to decide on scrapping traffic light system, other orders

The Government will decide on Monday whether to scrap the whole traffic light system and other Covid-19 orders, a decision that would see the remaining restrictions such as mask mandates gone by next Wednesday and end more than two years of Covid-19 rules.

The Herald understands Cabinet on Monday will be deciding on a recommendation to scrap the traffic-light system altogether rather than tweaking the settings or moving to green.

    • RISSOLE’S WARNING

This is a very emotional time for us. We have been through and survived an attempted Global FASCIST takeover followed by the same in New Zealand.

We utterly lost our former freedoms to the mob who could devastate society, not by a good old-fashioned violent rampage, but by hiding under the bed and voting with their basest fears.

      A bullet has been dodged.

      Until the next time…

    • Hate to disappoint but go back and look at all the covid decisions over the past 2 years and see whats been hinted before the meeting and what the announcements been.
Only once or twice has whats predicted usually happened!

Most of the time the decision has been half of what was thought or 10x worse then imagined.

A lil bit of optimism i hope its fully poll driven and ditched altogether but you never know with this power hungry cnut.

    • Viking, you said “Of course all the usual trough dwellers and experts on this that and the other and promoters of false information will be running for cover as well.”

Well, it seems this Labour Party Trougher won’t be running for cover. He quotes one Peter Davis who claims wearing masks saved thousands of lives, without any evidence of this claim, without naming one person whose life was saved and evidence that that life being saved. So more bullshit.

Of course Peter Davis himself is a Labour sycophant.

And what Morgan Godfrey does not bother to point out, is that Peter Davis of whom he quotes, is the sham husband of the former Labour witch and current medler in New Zealand politics, one Helen Clark.

      • I hope that mask wearing stays – it helps to point out all the stupid tossers who are incapable of any rational thoughts. I prefer my superior feeling as I walk past them all. Off to Timaru today, will be able to see if they are as stupid as the Oamaru people, probably.
As I drove through Oamaru last Saturday I shouted out “Take your fucking masks off you fucking idiots” Next time I might even wind the window down.

        • HP, I was in Rotorua on Sunday. On the way to the function we had to attend, we visited a Mall where the Warehouse is sited. I could not believe the high number of people wearing masks with the Mall security handing out masks to the weak and the indoctrinated and these masks were eagerly accepted and put on.

Where I live in the King Country, virtually no one wears a mask. They ditched them here long ago. Ardern who has never visited this area would never know how far in advance of her decision the people of the King Country are.

        • Drove through a small King Country town, and the jabbing flags were flying at their local hall.
Heard their had been a ring around by the local kapos at how convenient it was to just pop by.
Now I figure that others with vans had done some round ups.

It seems that it was a team from Hamilton.
          Shudder at the cost,
Some of the ones, particularly in business, sort of in the habit of keeping their heads down, while remaining un-jabbed, even if remaining masked, but nor do they call out the unmasked. 🙂

You may not know it, as they are dependent on trade flow through from the main road flow.
Even then some of that flow thru’ customers have popped their nose, seen some unmasked, and then leave. 🙁
But some have recognized the no hassle, and have become loyal when they pass through.

Business is very tight, & stressful in a small town.

Have been meaning to ask you…….a couple of weeks ago, there was a Twitter/Facebook clip of a young couple driving through the Oamaru cemetery and counting out 92 fresh graves. Was there any local reaction to this, such as refuting or confirming of it or any explanation?

          • I am wondering too.
Looking to do a walk around my own local cementary.
Of course the crematorium even stops an exhumation if it is possible to do check on the body for a few things that may be missed.

Eye brows have been raised at some sudden deaths of young fit workers passing on.
One case masked by it runs in the family, & sure their parents died in their 50’s but the young fella in that case barely made 30.
So did the vaxx or covid-19 bring on a co-morbidity? whilst no body says there was a double vaxx or not.

They will never accept they might be dieing although my brother did say 4 days before he died that the vaccine had killed him . 7. Every morning, the CEO of a major bank in Manhattan went to the corner where a shoeshine man was always there.
He used to sit on the chair, read the Wall Street Journal, and the shoeshine man gave his shoes a shiny, great look.
One morning, the shoeshine man asks the CEO:
”What do you think of the stock market situation?”
    The CEO arrogantly asks him:
”Why are you so interested in this subject?”
    The shoeshine man replies:
”I have 20 million dollars deposited in your bank and I am thinking about investing part of the money in the stock market.”
The CEO of the bank asks:
”What is your name?”
    He replies:
”John Smith H.”
The CEO arrives at the bank and asks the Manager of the Major Accounts Department:
”Do we have a customer named John Smith H.?”
    He replies:
”We certainly do, sir! He is an extremely esteemed customer! He has 20 million dollars in his account.”
The CEO leaves the bank, approaches the shoeshine boy, and says:
”Mr. Smith, I would like to invite you to be our guest of honor at our board meeting next Monday and tell us your life story. I’m sure we will have a lot to learn from you.”
At the board meeting, the CEO introduces him to the board members:
”We all know Mr. Smith, who makes our shoes shine like no one else. But Mr. Smith is also our valued customer, with twenty million dollars in his account.
I invited him to tell us the story of his life. I’m sure we can learn a lot from him. Please, Mr. Smith, tell us your life story.”
Then, Mr. Smith began to narrate his story:
”I came to this country thirty years ago as a young immigrant from Eastern Europe and with an unpronounceable name. I left the ship penniless in my pocket.
The first thing I did was to change my name to Smith.
I was hungry and exhausted. I started to wander in search for a job, but without success.
Suddenly, I found a coin on the sidewalk. I bought some apples.
I had two options: eat the apples and quench my hunger or start a business. I sold the apples for 50 cents and bought more apples with the money.
When I started accumulating dollars, I managed to buy a set of used brushes and shoe polishes and started cleaning shoes.
I didn’t spend a dime on fun or clothes. I only bought bread and cheese to survive.
I saved penny by penny and after a while I bought a new set of brushes and shoe polishes in different shades and colors and increased my clientele.
I lived like a monk and saved every penny. I managed to buy a chair so that my customers could sit comfortably while I cleaned their shoes, which brought me more customers.
I didn’t spend a dime on the pleasures of life. I kept saving every penny.
A few years ago, when the corner shoeshine colleague decided to retire, I had already saved enough money to buy his point, which was a better place than mine.
Finally, 3 months ago, my drug dealer brother passed away and left me 20 million dollars.

    • The maori arguing over who gets what part of the pie,
      .
… The Hauraki Collective, apparently led by Paul Majurey, ….
      .
      …. ~ the Tauranga City Council, the Western Bay of Plenty District Council and the Bay of Plenty Regional Council need to create a regular seat at the table for multiple iwi from Pare Hauraki, need to consult them about all notifiable consents, need to include their monitors in any developments;
      .
      ~ the District Health Board currently has an iwi body called the Rūnanga. It has 18 iwi. If Pare Hauraki are mana whenua, that’s another 12 iwi to include;
      .
~ all government agencies have a Treaty obligation to partner with mana whenua in the regions they are located. This would now include Pare Hauraki for any Tauranga Moana discussions.
      .
But the big game in town is the Port of Tauranga. ….

      https://firstwetakemanhattan.org/2017/07/18/where-theres-smoke-theres-ahi-kaa-agreements-made-by-hauraki-ranginui/
      .
When they eat one part of the pie, then they will take more pie from where ever.
      .
Also note one of the biggest “sell-outs” at the bottom, who is politically “whipping” many New Zealanders to stay in this poisonous alignment. 🙁

Just found this, and not have time to re-edit, so just tacked it on.
Apologies for sort of repeating, in parts, & doing it in full, but it can be difficult to find much on Paul Majurey, that is there is too much, but the fine print and those effects are difficult to find & this is from an unlikely blog. 🙂
This comment sums up a lot of this, and shows how far the reach is & I think worth copy paste in full.
      .
Co-governance undermines the purpose of Acts of Parliament legislation and the purpose of the Acts Powers and Authorities for a Democratic Society by handing those Powers and Authorities to unelected groups of people.
By doing so it circumvents any scrutiny by the public and any interested parties.
For example, Making decisions in a closed meeting becomes the norm, councils do that more and more these days.
Or, appointing people or groups or organisations to do certain work(s) or projects without a proper budget or the allocation of those financial resources that have not been budgeted for.
      .
The Hauraki Gulf Forum is a perfect example of this co governance bs.
      .
A quazi board of six or seven councillors and the same number of Maori reps who are unelected.
Who are in disagreement over the real purpose and function of the HGF?
But, the co-leadership of Pippa Coom and a token Maori wahine are wanting to claim a mandate for the people of Auckland by getting Wellington, the Government to acknowledge them as a representative body for the Hauraki Gulf, Tikapa and 20 Coastal Regional Parks and Reserves that they are currently trying to steal off the ratepayers of Auckland by including those Parks and Reserves in the ‘scope’ or coverage and control by creating new Legislation for a new Hauraki Gulf Marine Act that also hands to them the Powers and Authorities for, Wildlife, Marine Traffic/Transport, Parks and Reserves Act, and other Act(s) carve-outs.
By doing this, they, a co-governance body will be able to control everything from on land, sea, and air, over and under the Hauraki Gulf and Tikapa/Firth of Thames.
      .
And who orchestrated, and designed this coup detat of the Hauraki Gulf you may wonder?
      .
A little portly guy whose full-time job for Auckland Councils eke Panuku, Paul Majurey!
      Yup! Him again.
You know, the one I’ve been telling you all about for a while.
The guy with many side hustles.
Iwi treaty settlements, development gigs with a company called Ockham and lots of high court action for disputed land claims and with other developers, iwi and from Matakana in the north to Matakana in the south, with Tauranga iwi.
If you control all the habours from Auckland meaning the Port(s) of Auckland, Manukau, Firth of Thames and Tauranga as well as the assets of 12 Hauraki iwi too from Mai Matakana ki Matakana and then have influence of a co-governance board for all of the Hauraki, BINGO!
      .
The little ‘napoleon’ from Thames can crown himself the King of Tamaki Makaurau and the Hauraki and the little village of Thames.
Within three Treaty Settlements, the Pare Hauraki, Marutuaha and 12 individual Settlements, Majurey has scored big time!
Assets and finances of all those iwi amount to a billion or two at a conservative estimate.
      .
So, this is just one example of how one guy can play the game better than most people can imagine.
      .
      Oh! And …. https://majureysmoves.wordpress.com/home/treaty-settlement-disruptor/
      .
      Yes. Him again!
You have to wonder. Where is Paul Majurey getting finance from for the $850m-$1b of Housing Developments?
He can’t be using any of the Hauraki iwi assets in the Treaty Settlements that he negotiates, as those settlements are still not signed off by Parliament.
He can’t leverage or use it as collateral for finance can he?
Those outstanding Treaty Settlements are valued we’ll over $500m but probably more.
Where is the money coming from to fund his share of the Ockham Marutuahu partnership?
      .
      https://majureysmoves.wordpress.com/home/something-fishy-ockham-marutuahu/
      .
Oh! One more thing whilst I remember.
      .
Majurey is the chairman of eke Panuku who also is a director or chair of 27 companies related to development, construction, Housing, iwi, finance and investment amongst other roles.
His oversight is by Efeso Collins on behalf of Auckland Council.
With Majurey holding so many roles that are in conflict with most of the agenda items and matters that comes before the board, he spends most of his time out of the room when board meetings are held because of the conflicts of the many interests he has. It’s probably not worth having him as chairman or even involved with eke Panuku because of all of his conflicting interests?? .

  9. I’ve just found out about the Kiwi Independent Media Directory which seems to have an exhaustive list of non-MSM independent media operating here in the former New Zealand.

By the look of it they update the list regularly and they’ve got 12 sections (video, radio, print etc) and YSB is listed under ‘blogs’. A nice touch is their ‘Traditional’ section which comes with a warning banner designed like the government covid propaganda banner 😀

Check it out. And you can also suggest an addition if you have one that they might have missed.

    https://www.rt.com/russia/562383-ukraine-offensive-kherson-ramstein/

“Soldiers with “severed limbs, shrapnel wounds, mangled hands and shattered joints” told the Post about the “lopsided disadvantages” the Ukrainian army faces on the Kherson front. The Russians have more and better artillery, drones that can fly with impunity a kilometer high, and counter-battery radars that can call fire on Ukrainians’ heads within minutes, according to the US outlet.

Russian troops even hack and hijack Ukrainian drones, which “drift away helplessly behind enemy lines,” the paper said.

“We lost five people for every one they did,” Igor, a 30-year-old platoon leader with a back injury, told the Post.

“When we turn on mobile phones or radio, they can recognize our presence immediately,” another soldier named Denis said. “And then the shooting starts.”

“They were just hitting us all the time,” said Aleksandr, who had lost an arm in the fighting. “If we fire three mortars, they fire 20 in return.””

Zelenski, Biden and Bojo have the blood of tens of thousands of Ukranian men on their hands. The sending of troops to certain death, with no realistic chance of military success is a war crime. Russi will win this, if the fighting continues into winter, it will be a blood bath. Ask Steiner…..

  14. I have not seen the interview but I read on Telegram yesterday that Michael Laws had a go at Guy Hatchard or he referred to him saying he made stuff etc. ( I’ll have to do some digging)

Anyway maybe Laws should read this. The full peer reviewed paper is attached, if Laws has the ability to understand it. It seems very conclusive to me.

  15. Mike Hosking

Behind paywall so I’ll paste here

The most interesting aspect of the Government’s spectacular faceplant over taxing fees on KiwiSaver was not the fact they couldn’t work out that regular New Zealanders would react the way we did (although that
was a pretty amazing insight into how out of touch with real people they really are).
The biggest insight was the panicked backdown because it answered the question as to how desperate they are to hold on to power.

Early in Labour’s tenure, I couldn’t work out – as various disasters unfolded – whether they were inept or Machiavellian. It turns out the answer was both.

And lately I’ve been trying to work out whether they just can’t get out of their own way and don’t know how to resurrect their chances next year, or they’ve given up and are going for broke just getting all the ideological stuff they want enacted so it’s harder for the new government to unpick.

Things like Three Waters, co-governance, the centralisation of health and education.

They have succeeded in changing health to the point that I doubt National would undo it – it’s too hard and the sector surely couldn’t withstand yet more re-organisation at a time it really needs help in producing a few surgeries and finding some nurses.

So what we appear to have discovered from last week is that the desperation is real – they like power and they don’t want to give it up.

So the big question is, what else will they bail on to turn their fortunes around?

How much ideology can they put to one side in order to convince us that the election should be a contest, as opposed to an exercise of exorcising them from office?

I have said for at least the past year that Three Waters will never actually see the light of day.

Not only is it a shocking idea, it’s been shockingly executed.

Councils still aren’t on board, many never will be, and too many regular New Zealanders see this as a power grab for Māori.

The only issue for someone like Jacinda Ardern, who would lead the group that wants to stay in power, is whether she can convince the Māori caucus to acquiesce.

They have always struck me as consistent and principled in their beliefs around these matters (no matter how out of touch it is, how much damage it causes). They would rather lose than give up seeing what they perceive to be a historic wrong put right.

    Which brings us to co-governance.

Outside the economy, which has almost certainly already been in recession this year and many suggest has another session of negative growth still to come, co-governance is the single biggest philosophical stance that has undone them and, unless they kill it, will finish them off.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s government completely misread the public ahead of last week’s tax backdown, writes Mike

Their immediate issue is whether they recognise it. After all, if they couldn’t see the KiwiSaver tax backlash coming, maybe they still think up-ending democracy to accommodate their obsession with the Treaty is a viable idea for Kiwis. Small tip – it isn’t.

So if they work that bit out, can they walk away from it, and in walking away from it, how do they explain it?

And then the biggest problem of all, do any of us believe them?

    Their credibility is shot.

Many of these issues, particularly co-governance and Three Waters, were not mentioned in the election, they surprised us after the vote. Add the tricky wording and approach to their various tax changes and most of us, no matter what they say, will quite rightly ask, “are you walking away from these policies for good or just to suck us in again long enough to win a vote?”

Which ultimately is why I said in the last column that they are toast.

Even if they drop the worst of what they want to do, the damage has already been done.

When you arrive trumpeting openness honesty and transparency – and that turns out to be nothing more than a polytech-level marketing pitch – the reputation is damaged, and as the experienced operator understands, reputation is hard earned but so easily lost.

    • The pidgin te Reo language will be another nail in Labours coffin!
Yes Key tried to change the flag , but he had at least the courtesy to ask NZ if that is what we wanted.
Labour don’t care whether the new pidgin language ( including place names) are/ is wanted by the majority of New Zealanders ,they are ramming it down our throat anyway..
Most New Zealanders don’t take kindly to bullying !
Bullying is precisely what is happening!

  16. The “Shepherds” who ran Gloriavale as religious brothel are getting a well deserved pasting in the Christchurch Employment Court. Not only did the women & girls work for free but they could be felt up & raped on demand.

……. “They demanded a cuddle … Any man could approach any girl or woman and inappropriately touch them.”

Overseeing shepherds would tell members that, as Christians, there was nothing they could do to protect their wives from being raped or molested.

They would tell women not to make a fuss over their bodies, she said.

“It’s just your body, no big deal, you’re not going to take this body to heaven … I shall not fear what man do to me, remember?” ………

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/129786246/absolutely-abusive-gloriavale-leaders-allegedly-verbally-attacked-exmember-during-meeting

The testimony should be offered in the High Court to support sexual assault & slavery charges but at least the evil is being exposed. Another reminder, should one be needed, that organised Godbotherering is a cover & a power base for perverts.

    • As a Catholic, yup, I have to admit that much evil has been done in the name of Religion. However, not all godbotherers are evil people. Misguided, often yes. Unable to critically think, once again yes. Yet even though I have a strong science background, there is still an unease in definitely stating, “There is no god, ( however defined). Much of my reasoning about life and death questions the existence of a supernatural being, and I am deeply sceptical of all tennents in all religions, but there is still this nagging acceptance that humans cannot be the pinacle of beings. So endeth the sermon today.

As for the fuckers in the cult above, hope justice is harsh and swift.

      • Can some one other than Rissole smell a rat? Am I the only one who is a bit suspicious that this could easily be a government-sponsored witch-hunt against ideological enemies.

What about starting with the Labour Party rapes? Why are these addressed last???

        11

        0

        • Me too Rissole, I think there is something more going on here. In saying that I believe most Gloriavale people are disgusting bastards who take the vulnerable and prey on them. If you are born into something its kinda what you believe and are scared to take an alternate stance, you lose every family and community you have ever known. And especially if you don’t have easy access to the internet to research how things really are.

          9

      • RoL

You’ve honestly stated that for you there’s “this nagging acceptance that humans cannot be the pinacle of beings”. Fair enough but how does the concept of a “Supreme Being” without the crap involved of a “Personal God” sit with you?

For myself I am content to accept that the concepts of infinity & eternity are beyond the ability of a human mind to fathom. For those bothered by the quandary the possibility of a Supreme Being or Creator is understandable if not necessary to enjoy one’s life.

Where I draw the line is the manufactured Holy Spirit who watches over us, drafts us into heaven or hell, grants miracles, causes virgin births, listens to prayer, accepts the atrocities committed in His name & keeps an accurate tally of Catholic schoolboys having a wank.

  17. Fable: DON’T ARGUE WITH DONKEYS
The donkey said to the tiger:

    – “The grass is blue”.

    The tiger replied:

    – “No, the grass is green.”

The discussion heated up, and the two decided to submit him to arbitration, and for this they went before the lion, the King of the Jungle.

Already before reaching the forest clearing, where the lion was sitting on his throne, the donkey began to shout:

    – “His Highness, is it true that the grass is blue?”.

    The lion replied:

    – “True, the grass is blue.”

    The donkey hurried and continued:

    – “The tiger disagrees with me and contradicts and annoys me, please punish him.”

    The king then declared:

    – “The tiger will be punished with 5 years of silence.”

The donkey jumped cheerfully and went on his way, content and repeating:

    – “The Grass Is Blue”…

The tiger accepted his punishment, but before he asked the lion:

    – “Your Majesty, why have you punished me?, after all, the grass is green.”

    The lion replied:

    – “In fact, the grass is green.”

    The tiger asked:

    – “So why are you punishing me?”.

    The lion replied:

    – “That has nothing to do with the question of whether the grass is blue or green.

The punishment is because it is not possible for a brave and intelligent creature like you to waste time arguing with a donkey, and on top of that come and bother me with that question.”

The worst waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who does not care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions. Never waste time on arguments that don’t make sense…

There are people who, no matter how much evidence and evidence we present to them, are not in the capacity to understand, and others are blinded by ego, hatred and resentment, and all they want is to be right even if they are not.

When ignorance screams, intelligence is silent. Your peace and quiet are worth more. ❤️

  18. I see the cops reckon Hendrix Jury the dangerous gang member involved in a shooting in Christchurch managed to catch a flight to the North Island. I thought airports were supposed to be secure? Every time I go near one I end up getting searched because I set off the metal detectors and some failed cop wants to look important and superior. So how does a guy who has more facial tattoos than the entire Maori Party, has had his mug splashed everywhere and is described as dangerous and should not be approached waltz through check in and get on a plane? Are the Labour cabinet moonlighting as security at Christchurch airport?

The redacted, now turns up with the original names.

    Thomas Cranmer ✝️ @kehetauhauaga
    This is jaw-dropping.
Mahuta’s husband received $28,300 of funding from TPK’s Rangatahi Suicide Prevention Fund of which $15,500 was earmarked to pay a group of ‘experts’ and ‘panellists’.
When we received the application form via OIA those names were redacted but who were they?

Keep scrolling down as there is a fair bit of detail about it.

In that thread a number of names seem to pop up, that seem to align with co-governance being practiced now, all in cahoots with the systemic current & past governments.

Yet it is as if it is the normal way of doing business, like the special resurrected recognized now official science in NZ to be reapplied to all New Zealanders. 🙁

Enjoy the pic of that little gravy train, which leaves me wondering if it is overloaded, loaded by the greedy, and will it all slop out at the next bend.

  20. Magic Penis
A businessman was preparing to go on a long business trip,
so he thought he’d buy his wife something to keep her
occupied. He went to a sex shop and explained his
situation. The man there said, ‘Well, I don’t
know that I have anything that will keep her occupied for so
many weeks, except… the Magic Penis!’
    The husband said, ‘The what’?
    The man repeated, ‘The Magic
    Penis,’ and pulled out what
seemed to be an ordinary dildo.
The husband laughed, and said, ‘It looks like a
    dildo!’
    The man
then pointed to the door and said, ‘ Magic
    Penis door!’
The penis rose out of its box, darted over to the door and
started pounding away at the keyhole. The whole door
shook wildly with vibrations, so much so, that a crack began to
form down the middle. Then the man said, ‘Magic
Penis, return to box!’ and the penis stopped and
    returned to the box.
The husband bought it and took it home to his wife.
    After the husband had
been gone a few days, the wife remembered the Magic Penis.
She undressed, opened the box and said ‘Magic
    Penis, my crotch.’
The penis shot to her crotch..
It was absolutely incredible. After three mind
shattering orgasms, she became very exhausted and decided
she’d had enough. She tried to pull it out, but it
was stuck. Her husband had neglected to tell her how
to turn it off so she put her clothes on, got in her car and
    started for the closest hospital.
On the way, another incredibly intense orgasm made her
swerve all over the road. A police officer saw this
and immediately pulled her over. He asked for her license, and then asked how much she’d had to drink.
Gasping and twitching, the woman said, ‘I haven’t
had anything to drink officer. You see, I’ve got
this Magic Penis thing stuck in my crotch and it won’t
    stop screwing me.’
The officer looked at her for a second, shook his head and
replied, ‘Yeah right…. Magic Penis, my
    ass…!’
The rest, as they say, is
    history…

  21. The Government plans to directly fund Whakaata Māori – Māori TV as part of its $80 million Māori media strategy aimed at “normalising and revitalising” te reo Māori.

Broadcast Minister Willie Jackson released a Cabinet paper which outlined his three-year strategy for the Māori media sector on Wednesday afternoon, saying it was important to have quality Māori content available to all New Zealanders “to raise the status of te reo Māori and build cultural and national identity”.

“Māori media plays a vital role in normalising and revitalising te reo Māori and helps us work towards the Maihi Karauna goal of one million New Zealanders speaking basic te reo Māori by 2040,” he said, in a statement.

  22. So the cops can’t do as they have been and take photos of those protesting govt policy to identify them and look into their backgrounds?

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2022/09/police-association-wants-damning-report-into-police-practices-when-photographing-public-to-be-thrown-out.html
The Police Association wants a damning report into police practices of taking photos and fingerprints to be thrown out, saying its recommendations will increase crime rates.

The joint inquiry, by police and privacy watchdogs, found police are routinely and illegally photographing young people and adults.

    9

    0

    • When used at political protests it’s intimidation at best & intrusive Big Brother spying at worst.

Presently it’s not against the law to photograph anything or anyone in a public place but when it smacks of political bullying the time to call a halt on surveillance is overdue.

      9

      0

      • Agree. I think a private person taking a photo with someone in it, is very different to an officer of the state taking a photo of someone with nefarious intent. The intention of the photagrapher is crucial here, one may want to take a photo of a random stranger as the composition at the time may have merit from an artistic point of view. Cops never take photos with art as their focus. And after their thuggish behaviour in March, they can get fucked.

  24. NZ tourist visas – Only one in five requests approved in month after border reopens

Thousands of travellers are waiting for a visa, as figures showed only one in five requests were approved in the month after the border reopened.

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) says it is trying to speed up tourist visas, after 38,000 people applied to visit New Zealand and fewer than 7000 have got visas.

Some have now waited more than five weeks to find an answer, among them families waiting for parents and grandparents to visit.

Heather Lloyd hasn’t seen her father since 2018, and they applied for his visitor visa at the start of August.

“The bureaucracy and delays are just unbelievable, I can’t think of think of anywhere else in the world where you would wait six weeks or more to get approved,” she said.
