Morning all.
Are we up too early? Great comment above Ed how true.
100,000 unemployed and they can’t find 70 strawberry pickers.
Time to suspended the benefit in those areas.
(and then make it easy to get back on when the job finishes)
You can’t trust most of those on a benefit to not destroy your crops, damage the plant and sabotage the packing do they get bored off the site and can go back to sitting on the couch.
Ok get them out picking up rubbish in our streets, parks and industrial areas. Pay them a decent wage and give them time off to go to job interviews.
If they don’t do this, then terminate their benefit.
That would encourage many of them to get a better job.
Many elections ago one of Winston’s promises was “everyone was to work for the dole” He assured us pushing a broom was something all unemployed would be doing.
Got him elected…. Job done.
The billion trees planted by Shane’s worthless Nephs…
Same with Shane and the neffs off the couch, how much has it cost? Has it happened? Names please.
The man is a notorious liar.
Call me old-fashioned, but from a young age I understood some very basic things- no job, no roof over my head. No paycheck, no food in my stomach. That’s all the motivation I or anyone else ever needs.
Dig.As a longtime grower I have to say that decisions being made about planting at the present time lack thought.
The strawberry grower cannot expect to plant a large area and then just demand pickers.People are not going to pick strawberries for a pittance and then be told they are no longer wanted when the crop is finished.Bad planning.
Corporates are planting hundreds of acres of apples in HB right now and will expect the government to allow cheap labour from overseas to harvest in two or three years time.Sorry the corporates are mainly offshore owned and have stuffed the industry. There is little benefit to NZ from this approach.
Yes, we get the exports.
But all the wages money goes overseas!
So there is probably very little net benefit.
Robot pickers coming. both to kiwifruit and apples. That’s why the apples are being grown on espalier. Did that 45 years ago and have always wondered why the industry never bother. Easy to look after, good yields, lots of good sunshine on the fruit. Watch that space.
https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/kiwis-could-pay-more-than-double-price-strawberries-season-grower-warns
Prison chain-gangs. Free cigarettes for the best picker.
Prison in NZ are (ostensibly) smoke free since 2011.
We tried using WINZ hires for a cleaning company. Roughly $25 per hour cleaning. Not one came wanting to work, they were going through the notions to retain their benefit. The one guy we interviewed that wanted to work was a yoing Indian student, who had a visa expiring and who could not get it renewed. He came to the interview with business development ideas and was raring to go. But no visa, no hire. Yet the polar opposite to the benefiary culture.
$25 an hour for unskilled work ain’t bad at all. No takers- they ain’t hungry enough Pascal.

Britain’s opposition parties to work together to prevent no-deal Brexit
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/08/britain-s-opposition-parties-to-work-together-to-prevent-no-deal-brexit.html
That is not surprising. Labour don’t know what they want The DimLibs don’t want out, nor do the freeloading Welsh, and Scots.
Looking at the stuff report there didn’t seem to be much diversity and inclusivity in the Police presence in Judge Adeane’s Courtroom the other day. Where were the “runts and cunts” https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/115286285/armed-gang-member-whose-druginduced-paranoia-led-to-12hour-standoff-restrained-in-dock
It’ll be interesting to see if he is now brought back to court and charged with assault and whether the sentence will be cumulative.
This from the Judge.
“People who brought infants and firearms together should expect stern penalties, he said…”
Then he sentences the filthy scumbag to just a couple of years in the hotel/prison.
What’s the bet it’s out in under 12 months. The judge is a dud.
He should have been handcuffed.
Its pretty simple
Any person in court for a violent offence should be handcuffed.
Especially a scumbag who looks like that. Full shackles to hands and ankles. Duct tape his mouth shut. (including nostrils!)
ankle shackles. Not used here but should be especially in jails.
Muzzle seems appropriate.
Shot.
How bloody ridiculous, Jacinda is way out of her depth.
interesting comment by Duncan in reply to Mark saying that he would bottle St Heliers air, not much chance as Mark is pakeha… or words to that effect, isn’t that racist?
Speaking of which, does everyone run to the papers for their hurty feelings now like the waitress, at the viaduct?
I thought the same. We are now a country of complainers taught to seek their 15 minutes of fame. What happened to the personal resilience Kiwis have always been known for?
It’s alive and well WG! One of the things I’ve always admired about New Zealanders- tough people who get the job done without complaining. Self-reliance. That’s a true Kiwi.
Why? Jones is a Labour man. His business empire always does better under Labour. While he isn’t sycophantic Labour (he isn’t above criticising them), he has supported them more often than not.
Labour fill up Wellington offices with seat warmers. Any Wellington commercial landlord would love that.
As many of us said when the Toxic Gnome appoint the SLG as PM, it would be back to the socialist past…and so yesterday was.
With Sleaze Galloway moving a bill to put the remuneration setting of MPs pay back with Fran Wilde and her committee. A case of an ex MP looking after her mates…..
A mother and her young son got in a taxi to Courtney Place. As it turned into the street the young boy said, “What are all these ladies standing around for mummy?”
His mum replied, “You might as well know the truth son, they’re prostitutes, they sell themselves to men for sex”.
“Do they have loads of babies?” Asked her son.
“Of course they do,” she replied, “How do you think we get labour, Green and NZ First Party politicians”.
ED that joke is not funny!
Its probably very true.
Who said it was a joke?
Dig, it is sadly true….
That reminds me of the joke I heard on RNZ Morning Report this morning from none other than Sleaze Galloway.
Ferguson was interviewing Sleaze over the reinstating of the wage setting of MPs salaries.
Sleaze came out with this gem….
“We have to pay attractive salaries to ensure parties are attracting high calibre people to be MPs”….
At which point I’m running of a list in my mind…like
Chloe Swarfega;
G Golly
Mega Fightiri
Phil Twitford
The Silly Little Girl
Clare Curran
David Clark
Kelvin Davis (is he on witless protection again?)
Gareth Hughes
JAG(uar)
Marama Davison
Willie Jackson
James Shaw
Grant Robertson
Skid Mark
Shane Indiana Jones
David Parker
Carmel Septic Tank
The Toxic Gnome
Jenny Selesi
Megan Woods
Michael Woods
Angry Andrew
Ginny Andersen
Chippy Hipkins
SLeaze Galloway
Tracey Martin
The other female (**** Marcroft) NZF MP from Rodney
Maria Lubhic
The Labour lister from Northland
The rest of the Liebore Maori caucus
Eugene Sage….
Sh*t, that list is frightening, we pay for it and we are told these are high calibre people.
That puddle sure is shallow!
One brain would be lonely in that lot!
I find it interesting that there are double the number of Tongan female cabinet Ministers than there are Maori female Cabinet ministers.
The standard is not very high.
Maori: Nanaia Mahuta
Tongan: Jenny Salesa and Carmel Sepuloni
You can only have one Maori female Cabinet Minister and it is Ha hooter .
That’s your starting point for Quality Assurance. Wow!
Also 2 (at least) of the top 10 Cabinet ministers have parents who have been convicted of fraud.
We are seeing the results of the low breeding.
I’d rather light cigars with $100 bills than pay a cent to any of those clowns.
Actually, I reckon that the reverse is true. Pay way less and get people who don’t need a high parliamentary Salary to get the job done because they already have sufficient income.
Key, Trump both being good examples.
By the same token though Turnbull wasn’t much good.
High calibre lol. The bar is obviously set extremely low.
Brings back that old saying:
`Many a true word said in jest’.
Galloway would have been deadly serious with his statement. He’s justifying his and his mates huge salaries. They will never be employed in any other well-paying trough with their level of incompetence.
Yes, that’s why Leftards put so much effort into deplatforming actual comedians (they’re happy with the unfunny ones like Trevor Noah).
Leftards hate the truth. They’ve realised truth can slip in under the guise of humour, so it has to be gotten rid of.
“Genuinely nice without a mean bone in her body.” Exactly- useless material for a country’s leadership.
A few too many taps to the head.
Simon Bridges won’t rule out New Zealand First coalition despite superannuation differences
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/08/simon-bridges-won-t-rule-out-new-zealand-first-coalition-despite-superannuation-differences.html
Simon says he will inform the electorate next year but it is pretty obvious there is no love lost and Winston will be dropped by National like the poisonous chalice we all know him to be. National are hoping for a landslide election in their favour so speculation will be unnecessary if they are right.
Why does he not just rule him out.
What would have happened if Winston had gone with National?
What sort of bargain would he have driven?
The man announced “capitalism is dead”.
He was never going with National last time or the next time.
If the polls show the Greens and NZF both below 5% then National have a good chance to govern alone.
The biggest success there could possibly be next election is the failure of the greens to reach 5%. I will buy a $300 bottle of Scotch to celebrate.
What on earth would the likes of Golriz and Chloe do out in the real world??
Not much call for communist virtue-signalling know-it-alls.
Grow dope.
Street cleaners?
Kindergaten teachers
Their lot add trash to the streets with their hanging about protesting at respectable citizens going about lawful activity; and also Govt Security sites -Waihopai – for which they are responsible as part of the Govt 3 way – there to ferk everything in sight !!
– talk about low IQ
So no, not even suitable to be street cleaners.
National appears to have dashed the Government’s hopes of pushing through a second near bipartisan set of gun laws aimed at further tightening the country’s firearms rules.
Although the second tranche of gun law reforms is still highly likely to become law, National leader Simon Bridges said his party was unlikely to support the legislation as it has done with prior gun law reform bills.
“In short, the Government is going after the good guys and not the bad guys [with these rules].”
Act leader David Seymour, who has also ruled out his support for the bill, said it was about time National woke up to the fact the proposed law would target law-abiding firearm owners.
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12262722
About bloody time. Maybe, just maybe all the noise that has been made is bringing Simon and co to their senses.
Go right young man.
Just need NZ First to bail on it and it would be dead in the water. They did run that odd poll on firearms on their website a couple of weeks ago, I’m betting they’re not so sure.
Justice or revenge?

Isn’t this nice of them?
You now, with all the clinical trials and credible scientific evaluations these companies have access to, you’d think they would have known the magnitude of harm and the devastating side effects their drugs would cause.
Any one would think it was intentional.
The firm is facing over 2,000 lawsuits linked to its painkiller OxyContin.
Purdue told the BBC it was “actively working” towards a “global resolution” but would not comment on the amount.

No longer being prescribed I assume?
Hugely popular and in great demand by druggies in the States. Massive imports, illegally of course, of Oxy and Fentanyl (similar drug I believe) from Commie China. Big money business.
Most Fentanyl trafficking comes through Mexico. Extremely toxic. More than a grain and you’re dead. The Port of La Guaira Venezuela turns a blind eye. Too profitable. Keeps the pop down too.
It may be smuggled through Mexico but it is made in China.

Why can’t we have someone prepared to tell it like it is – Alan Jones does it again by calling out the hysteria over the non-existent burning of the Amazon rain forests. This doesn’t fit Stuff’s propaganda.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sj215wMUwTY
Brainwashing is in full swing Tony. The media have their filthy pockets lined with gold to push this shit as dramatically and as hysterically as possible.
The lie will be exposed and they will suffer the consequences.
I just heard Ardern on the radio
She said she does not want gangs to get access to guns which is why they are changing the law.
How many gang members have a licensee and walk into a gun shop and buy a gun?
She really is a stupid bitch.
Yes. She is so utterly stupid she has failed to realize that her hastily rushed in law changes are likely to result in the largest ever increase in guns on the black and grey market in the history of this country. You will have noticed that news of the confiscation is not very prevalent these days, that is because it is becoming clearer by the day that it is not being well supported. Police staff were ordered to hand in their own personal guns early so as to give the impression of massive compliance but, embarrassingly, that ain’t happening. Meanwhile those of us who have handed in our guns are upgrading. When I take delivery of my new rifle in the next couple of weeks I will have 50% more guns than I handed in all paid for by you the taxpayer, thanks very much.
I just heard Ardern give us a new English pronunciation lesson
The pronunciation of the word Treaty is now Treedee.
Whats wrong with her?
Does she think its trendy?
Simon asked 6 different ways in the House today how much taxpayers money will be going to the purchase of Ihumatao. She refused to answer any of his questions. Simon obviously has information to the contrary up his sleeve.
I saw that. She looked lost without the drunk sitting next to her. Soundbite Cindy, in action. A sorry sight.
She’s just recounting Shane Jones reforestation balance sheet. After Treedee is tree ee, Which is booked in for a planting ceremony mid 2020. So…. full steam ahead!!
You say
“Whats wrong with her? ”
Well she is a low IQ, country hick who has swallowed the socialism scam hook, line and sinker.
Look at Obama. His diction outside speeches prepared by others was similarly country hick.
Yeehaw.
The years of Mormon teachings would have knocked the ability to ‘question and grow’ right out of her- during the formative years.
She is low energy (eating disorders?) so never made the effort to train the brain.
The speaking is terrible but so was that of Julia Gillard – another Down Under female Labour PM who retreated to calling ‘misogynist’ when in a pickle.
What the?! Newshub being provocative. They obviously don’t like Simon’s message.
Watch: Simon Bridges says gun laws soft on ‘crims, gangs and extremists’
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/08/watch-simon-bridges-says-gun-laws-soft-on-crims-gangs-and-extremists.html
Glad to see that someone is finally listening.
If it becomes law I hope he promises to repeal it in the first 90 days. Would go a very small way to say sorry for rolling over on the first one.
What we do know is that dairying brings in $14.4 billion in exports and nothing else can do that. It is perhaps pertinent to note in a similar time frame to the 260,000 dairy cow reduction there was an increase in individual vehicles in New Zealand of around 700,000 with a corresponding increase in GHG’s of around 743kts while all of agriculture reduced over the same period by 410kts. While Lotto still keep advertising V8 vehicles for Father’s Day prizes, it makes you realise as a nation we have quite a mind shift to go through on this whole debate yet.

20-Year Mortgages Hit Zero for First Time in Danish Rate History
In Denmark’s $495 billion mortgage-backed covered bond market, another milestone was reached on Wednesday as Nordea Bank Abp said it will start offering 20-year fixed-rate loans that charge no interest.
The development follows an announcement earlier in the week by Jyske Bank A/S, which said it will start issuing 10-year mortgages at a coupon of minus 0.5%. Danes can also now get 30-year mortgages at 0.5%, and Nordea recently adjusted its prospectus to allow for home loans up to 30 years at negative interest rates.

Greens oppose extended hours for bars during Rugby World Cup 2019
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/08/greens-oppose-extended-hours-for-bars-during-rugby-world-cup-2019.html
National MP Gerry Brownlee hit back at the Greens, labelling Logie’s speech “very sad” and “distressing”.
“That was so distressing that the Green Party can stand up and say that this Bill is about linking drinking to rugby – it is not. It is about making sure that the widest number of New Zealanders who enjoy sport can have a look at it.”
Is rugby fun to watch stoned?

Sure looks like the cops are hand in glove with the COL.
There was a time when Public Servants kept their noses out of party politics.
In time you become like the 10 people, you spend most of your time with. So Cops & ???
Anti gun zealot Cahill has done immeasurable damage to the reputation of the police, already suffering due to the willingness of senior police to allow themselves to become politicized, and the respect in which Arms Officers and police in general were held by the licenced firearms owning community. His shrill attempts to blame LFOs for the inability of the police to properly administer the Arms Act thereby allowing Tarrant to obtain a firearms licence which he should not have been able to do and to tackle unlicenced violent criminals who sometimes use illegally held firearms (among many other forms of weapons) makes him sound like an idiot. He should wind his neck in. As for the National Party it is encouraging that they seem, at last, to be beginning to act like a proper opposition party keeping the follies and excesses of the governing coalition in some sort of check.
Shame for the West Coast.
