      • Besides the history of antagonism between Japan and China, Japan is the last place you want to make this sort of gaff in. Japanese culture and diplomacy is marked by “dotting the I and crossing the T” –very formal and correct.

  1. I think the GDP stats are due out today, I hope they cause some Fireworks and flashing lights in Ardern’s office (if she’s ever there) and Robertson’s Global Headwinds office.

    • Winston warned you yesterday they weren’t strong and also said he warned the voter that this would likely happen when he announced that he had chosen Labour to be his Coalition Partner in Government.

      • Yes, but imho, if they have dropped, its the COL and their anti business polices that will have caused it. Not Winston’s prophecy 2 years ago!

        0

        • Winston’s prophecy or his wish? If he is a capitalist at heart him saying “capitalism is dead” is an odd announcement to make when you are taking the reins to run a country. He is not a capitalist, he is one of them.

          0

      • Winston shouldn’t know what they were yesterday. They should be embargoed to everyone until they’re released today. But it is amazing how you can be a prophet of economic collapse, when you enact a series of policies designed to create economic collapse.

        0

        0

        • I’d be surprised if Winston could even remember what he did yesterday, and even if he did it would be a secret because he knows things that we don’t know so there! Now piss off you peasants and leave Cindy (who never tells a lie unlike those Labour staff who are complaining) alone.

          0

    • Well let’s not write it off as just another (among the million or so) examples of the deep space vacuum that is socialist Cindy’s brain.

If we pause for a moment and reflect upon:
who Cindy really serves (the US senate has been told Cindy is funded by Chinese communists),
      – the fact that China is increasingly being expansionist in preparation for finding lebensraum for their exploding population
      – China has always had a deep enmity towards Japan
      – China has been egging on it’s satellite (North Korea) to take an ever more threatening stance towards Japan
… then maybe the ex Leader of the International Socialists (who spent time in China as part of her time as President, prior to interning in (self-proclaimed Trotskyist) Tony Blair’s office) just let slip the official long-term goal of her masters.

No less far-fetched that having a non-American muslim married to a transgender in the White House who uses the intelligence community to spy on a political opponent in a scandal that dwarfs Watergate who after leaving the White House is so deeply concerned about Climate Change that he buys a waterfront property in Martha’s Vineyard.

  2. Ihumatao – could this end the Treaty of Waitangi gravy train

New Zealanders are by and large (outside of the hardcore left wing enclaves) a generous and fair-minded people. Which is why the largely ridiculous reparations process of treaty settlements has been tolerated.

But the Ihumatao land grab should be sufficient to challenge New Zealanders sense of fairness. If this government of political and economic vandals buys, then gifts Ihumatao back to the mana whenua it sets a precedent where:
    1) every New Zealander’s privately-owned land can cease to be their own at the whim of Māori activists, and
    2) the future cost of settlements to the taxpayer can balloon out to farcical proportions (potentially equal to the value of all capital assets in NZ)

This is a situation that is just not fair or reasonable, we can see in Brexit how the lunacy of their Parliament is crystalising and unifying the opposition to the elitist crooks in Westminster. If this government agrees to buy the land and gift it back, then I think there is real potential to unite ordinary, decent NZers against the whole Treaty gravy train, people will say:
    – no Māori seats
    – immediate stop to all settlement negotiations
    – absolutely no tolerance of occupations
and in general it will add fuel to the fires of nationalism that the elites fear so much.

It would almost be worth it for stupid Cindy go ahead with this massive extension of the greivance gravy train, if only to push a majority of NZers over the edge. If there is no end in sight to the treaty process and ever more private property rights are eroded, there is no basis in trust for supporting a reconciliation process that will not achieve reconciliation. The tap will have to be shut off.

And we must not forget the cynical, spiteful way Labour behave when the lose at anything. It could just be the perfect thing to queer the pitch and scorch the earth for National in 2020, ignite a race war – Obama tried to do it with his support for the Black Lives Matter movement and his unending attacks on law enforcement.

Cindy is nothing if not unimaginative in her policy platforms!

  3. We really need National to come out and say “we will Ban any new claims to the Waitangi Tribunal”.
We will stop all vexatious, superflous, non land, silly claims
And then just settle the outstanding ones (as they nearly had)
And then shut it down and sack them all.
FINAL SETTLEMENT MEANS FINAL NOT THIRD OR FOURTH

    • The problem National has is that John Key came to power with a hard promise to create an end to the Treaty gravy train, there was the sunset clause after which no new claims would be accepted. However, we are now seeing that like all globalist scum – Key was a liar. If he was telling the truth, then we wouldn’t be in the situation we are now where stupid Cindy is about to open up a whole new gigantic avenue for redress.

They lied to us in 2008 and no one would believe them if they rolled that old chestnut out again, Soimon is always telling us he’s Maori and he covets the cloak of sanctimony that stupid Cindy wraps herself in every time she gets in front of Maori. Soimon is as steeped in the “diversity is the new stupid” philosophy that permeates our Swamp.

The nation is fucked while we have two more or less identical parties to choose from.

However, in the meantime, pass the popcorn because it is bloody funny to watch.

      0

      0

    • Yes Dig I and most New Zealanders would agree with you. But would National ever do that? What do you think? Seriously…. would this useless bunch of dribbles ever do this?

      0

      0

      • National hasn’t got the guts to do anything that requires a valid principle. Haven’t for years.
Its the bloody left footers and boy handlers party propped up by nasty women like Mother Barry.

Why people vote for them is beyond me and Labour are the foil and are just as bad. They lie.

  4. Now if Simon Bridges had said what Winston Peter’s said yesterday in his grudges against Paula Bennett and Simon Bridges the media would have been in a frenzy for the mental heath problems that it could have created for the complainants. So can anyone please tell me that this was not a orchestrated attack on the victims , how was this statement going to affect the national party Leader with his Deputy. The only people that suffer is the victims with smears like this ‘it is disgraceful speculation and innuendo with unfounded facts’. If one of these complainants does end up with Mental Health problems over people like Winston Peter’s will the media create another witchhunt like they did against Simon Bridges in Jamie Lee Ross bullshit.

  6. A blonde and a redhead have a ranch. They have just lost their bull. The women need to buy another, but only have $500. The redhead tells the blonde, “I will go to the market and see if I can find one for under that amount. If I can, I will send you a telegram.”
She goes to the market and finds one for $499. Having only one dollar left, she goes to the telegraph office and finds out that it costs one dollar per word. She is stumped on how to tell the blonde to bring the truck and trailer. Finally, she tells the telegraph operator to send the word “comfortable.”
Skeptical, the operator asks, “How will she know to come with the trailer from just that word?” The redhead replies, “She’s a blonde so she reads slow: ‘Come for ta bull.'”

  7. Seasonal workers and third world migrants
I went to a 4 square shop last night.
Then were about 10 seasonal workers or third world migrants queuing up to send money via Western Union probably back to their family in India or The Philipines or the Islands.

With this huge out flow of our hard earned dolllars, do they really contribute anything to our economy.

    0

    0

    • I would say yes, because they enable the businesses to operate and sharing a part of their wage with family back home doesn’t deprive us of the taxes they pay and them paying for their living costs here. It also means the businesses that employ them have product they can sell, which helps them massively of course.

The alternative being what? Not having labour to do those jobs. It’s not like you’ll get a cuzzy to do it and good luck trying to convince a beneficiary to work for money.

I’d much rather have a seasonal worker send money back home and keep things moving than have a business close because our own people are too lazy or unwilling to work unless they get paid like CEOs.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/09/economist-suggests-literally-giving-money-to-the-poor-to-save-the-economy.html

“Literally just cash out to poor people,” Shamubeel Eaqub told The AM Show on Thursday morning. “If you give poor people money, they will spend it.”

Handing out tax would be a short term solution. Like parking a car on the railway lines to slow a train.

    • “Mr Jones claimed Ms Bennett has “catastrophised” the issue, adding he was “more worried about Spark, whether or not I can watch the World Cup Rugby than hearing any more about she said, he said.”

But Ms Bennett fired back saying, “Well that’s fine Shane, while you worry about the rugby there’s actually young people out there that tried to be heard numerous times by people that were senior.”

      0

      • This is the same Shane Jones that was caught with his johnson in one hand and the government’s credit card in the other? He already has little respect for women, so I’m not entirely surprised that he would be trying to diminish their complaints of abuse.

  14. Croaking Cassandra for the day.

In that most recent period (and, actually, for this decade as a whole) France has had the fastest productivity growth – not something I’d have guessed – and New Zealand brings up last place. It isn’t that the green bar is missing for New Zealand, just that the average annual growth rate on this measure was 0.0 per cent.

And that is another reason why we can’t have the woke, Climate Change, Universal Benefit lifestyle that Labour, the Greens and New Zealand First wants to sell to us. We simply cannot afford it.

This will be helped by almost weekly poor confidence surveys and reports
And now the fact that any land deals are no full and final and that commercial deveolpment may come to a halt

    Occupiers.

That this plan, worded a tad cunningly, came from King Tuhetia carries no weight whatsoever. He can purchase from his realms resources if he chooses. This taxpayer does not want any involvement from the government currently in place or future (as the tenure of the current government may be short).

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/09/national-mp-andrew-bayly-booted-from-parliament-over-ihum-tao-questioning.html

  19. I’ve been preoccupied with real life issues lately. Could someone please bring me up to speed on what’s happened at YSB? I gather from a comment on the “Website changes” post that someone who posted as “Melahi” deleted all of his/her comments? Is it being suggested that YSB was hacked in some way? And, on a different subject, is John Fraser still sending “love letters” to Chuck?

    0

    0

    • No It’s all quite innocent. The deletion of posts will be stopped tonight. Some nice person has pointed out how it was done. All very simple if you are computer savvy and Melahi was certainly that. Frazer has not returned to spread his shit on ysb, so it’s a happy place once again.

What price must we pay for the sins and the victims of the people we never new? Dead people.
This mish-mash of regressive victim-hood status and progressive ideology in the name of diversity equates to nothing but ruin.
      Why do we accept it?
When people believe they are entitled to something, without working for it, claim to be victimized for not being given it, lobby a government bereft of scruples using the assumed grievance as leverage and eventually receive an abundance of other peoples wealth to gain it, that is when entitlement becomes a religion.
We have let this go on for far, far too long.

  20. A High Court judge has found that Colin Craig sexually harassed his former press secretary Rachel MacGregor for years.

The finding from Justice Hinton released on Thursday morning said Craig’s letters to MacGregor when he was leader of the Conservative Party were “highly inappropriate” for an employer to send to an employee and had “clear sexual content”.

Craig’s letters, texts, and comments were unwelcome to MacGregor from early 2012 onwards and the sexual harassment covered a period of approximately two and a half years, the judge found.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/115912383/colin-craig-sexually-harassed-rachel-macgregor-high-court-judge-finds

He said he was getting legal advice on what to do next and whether to appeal the decision.

“I’m taking advice, as I always do on these things, I get legal advice and then make a decision. I’ll wait until I get advice on that, but I haven’t ruled it out,” Craig said.
