    • Strange that “Democracy Now” only pushes on Israel, which may have some points;
      .
The issue of Israeli settlers was resolved in Gaza, as the Israeli army simply moved those settlers out in 2005, leaving it all the PLO, Fatah that a few years later lost the election & physically ejected out.
      .
Why o why, has no one during the past 15 years, from the UN or the other countries not questioned why Gaza has not had free & fair elections ???.
And the West Bank does not have elections as Fatah figure rightly or wrongly, they will lose to Hamas which will then do a complete cleansing of the Fatah Party.,
      .
That UN spokesman, for all the years of living in Gaza keeps quiet about United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is a relief and human development agency.
That they pay for text books, teachers for pupils to be further inculcated & supported in violence & terror against Jews/Israelis.
      .
Why does that UN official Craig Mokhiber not know about where the money is going?
      .
….. the European Union has transferred €681 million to the Palestinian Authority and the UNRWA (the UN agency active in Palestine) between 2021 and 2023—one-third, or about €225 million of which went directly to Gaza. ….
      .
…… the so-called ‘pay for slay’ laws that are still in effect in the Palestinian Authority-controlled West Bank, under which the PA pays generous rewards and life-long pensions to militants (or their families) if they lose their lives or get convicted for terrorism against Israel—dubbed as “participation in the struggle against the occupation.” ….
      .
….. Terheș even brought a fifth-grade literature book from his recent trip to Palestine that was published this year by the PA’s Ministry of Education. Opening the book, the MEP showed everyone in the room a large picture of Dalal Mughrabi, a kidnapper and suicide bomber who killed 38 Israelis, including 13 children in 1978, and is still being celebrated as a martyr with dozens of schools bearing her name. …. [I have earlier put up posts how NZ has been made aware of promoting terror & violence, but continues this funding of UNRWA]

      https://europeanconservative.com/articles/news/conservative-meps-are-eu-taxpayers-funding-terrorism/
      .
….. In 2022, Biden met with Palestinian Authority terror leader Mahmoud Abbas and boasted that, “I reversed the policies of my predecessor and resumed aid to the Palestinians — more than a half a billion dollars in 2021.” ….
      https://www.frontpagemag.com/biden-sent-148-million-to-palestinian-areas-weeks-before-attack-on-israel/
      .
Did that UN guy speaking on “Democracy Now” not know where all this money was going to in such a small place of Gaza & the West Bank?????

  1. A different day in store today – “A cloudy, cold and often wet day. Periods of rain, or showers at times, gradually easing back in the evening, but remaining cloudy, with isolated showers.”
Haven’t had one of them for so long, looking forward to it. Hope it actually rains.

    • SA,

The maximum flow rate of from a petrol pump is approx 50 litres per minute, so filling a 60 litre tank is approx 72 seconds. 60 litres is approx 550KW Hours. And all we have to do to get that 550KW Hours is stand with the petrol pump in the fuel tank for a little over a minute.

Yes, not as efficient as an EV but to get the open road same range with performance, and average use of heater/aircon/headlights/etc, it requires about 200KW Hours in a Tesla. So 2 charges.

100KW is the max current battery, and to get around charging delays EV manufacturers want 10% to 90% recharge times in as low as 10 minutes. There are now batteries that can do that.

      90%-10% = 80%, so 80KW hours.

If we replace fossil fuel, and it will require 20 charging bays in a Service Station to replace fuel pumps, which will not be enough anyway because of the 1000% to 1500% increase in charging time.

      However 80KW / 10 minutes = peak demand of 960KW
Multiply by 20 and you have 19.2 MW. Or the output of 8 of these:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_DL_class_locomotive

And since you don’t run any engine at 100%, you would need probably at a minimum 12 of these at every service station with 20 EV “pumps”.

And at peak/holiday times, when servos are chocka, and people don’t want to wait 15 minutes, perhaps 30-40 such beasts.

If all current diesel and petrol power cars and trucks were replaced with EV engines, a back of the envelope calculation is that we will need a 200% increase in hydroelectricity production.

But of course Ardern and co didn’t pay any attention to that minor technicality.

Without an increase in hydro, we would need 15,000 times the number of wind turbines, or 500,000 times the number of solar panels.

And that does not consider the massive upgrades in infrastructure a 200 % increase in generating capacity will require.

Electricity is better than fossil fuels, but we are not there yet.

      7

      • Electricity is the tool of totalitarians
You can not store it in any practical way.
As the feeble range of Evs shows.
At most times you need to either cool or heat a car.
40 years of car climate control has numbed people, to this
        This reduces range further.

You dont want any more storage of energy in a battery given there is no current way to put out the fires as it stands.

German engineers for 12 years have been trying to replace nuclear with nonsense and realising at each step is it a totalitarian wet dream.

The only way to get more electricity is via fossil fuels under current technology despite 20+ years of pretending otherwise.
Try to build a hydro plant and the unemployed wanker greenies will come out and protest this pragmatic idea.

EVs are still glorified golf carts .

Your evangelism for EVs is about as useful to me as adern’s uptake on the Book of Mormon..

        4

        1

        • In the future there WILL be vehicles running on electricity, and probably generated in situ i.e. under the hood.

But the current method of battery storage ain’t there yet.
Much of the futuristic energy generation inventions are suppressed anyway.

          3

          0

        • Electricity is the tool of totalitarians.

So you live off grid? No power, no lights, wood stove. Not even kerosine lamps as kerosine use electricity in some form to refine it. You wear or own nothing made from electricity.

Do you smoke signal friends and get them to blog on YSB for you?

If you own nothing and you are happy, Klaus Schwab would love to have you as a poster child for the great reset.

  3. The Woke have become really Woke and are now trying to out Woke the Wokest of Woke Wankers.

You see, I joined my first Service Club, Takapuna Round Table No20 in June 1968. It was a young mans, non Woke, Service Club, they were the greatest bunch of blokes and scoundrels you could ever come across, all larrikins, great piss drinkers, great sailors and very community minded. By 40 y.o. you were finished and had to go and join something else, Jaycees, Lions, Rotary, anything, but you were no longer eligible to remain a member of Round Table.. Everything was made fun of, great community work and fundraising was undertaken and no one cared a fig for political correctness. Life was so good and life long friends were made, many which I still have to this day.

I went on to join Rotary, and through shifting about eventually became President of 3 Rotary Clubs in 2 different countries, but after over 30 years as a Rotarian resigned as their values and direction were becoming different than mine. Wokeness had raced into the organisation and wokeness and I do not go or work well together, at all.

Rotary must think there is still some hope for me to return to the fold as 3 years on from resigning my membership, every month I still get sent their magazine and I can honestly say Wokeness, on reading it, will help kill that organisation. In the October 2023 issue of Rotary Downunder on pages 22 & 23, there is an article on Rotary Clubs Worldwide, becoming Carbon Neutral. There is a Calculator that Rotary Clubs can use to ensure they and their meetings are held in a Carbon Neutral manner and that all Rotary Club functions are being carried out in a Carbon Neutral manner. What the fuck is a Carbon Neutral Rotary meeting and how Woke do you have to be to push this sort of Bollocks. Rotary and all Service Clubs should be their for the benefit of the community and the wellbeing and enjoyment of their members, not for a Member or a Club to be made to feel guilty, because you are doing good and being beneficial to society.

No wonder Rotary and other similar organisations are struggling to retain members with this sort of Bollocks being foisted upon Members and prospective Members. With adopting this sort of utter crap, they deserve to fade into oblivion sooner than later and seem to be working hard themselves, to achieve this..

  4. Good to see the Master and Winston out and about at the Diwali festival. National and other Right parties have huge support in the Indian and other Asian communities. Their support must be acknowledged. The Master looked like he had a sheila protecting his rear end. Either that or he has a PA who is very aware of her surroundings.

    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/christopher-luxon-and-winston-peters-at-diwali/EGCAP7ZCGG2VZPLU2QOH53FVDM/

Winston continued delivering utu to the media by telling them to fuck off. He looked comfortable around National MP Melissa Lee.

But Dave wasn’t present. Dave is talking about the possibility of sitting on the cross benches. I wise move if things don’t go his way.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2023/11/act-s-david-seymour-says-logical-possibility-of-party-sitting-on-crossbenches.html

One thing I hope I don’t see and that’s the Master prancing around like a poof at Gay Pride. John Key may have been able to pull it off, but I doubt the Master can. His Diwali speech had him looking and sounding like a leader. Let him leave it at that.

  5. You do realise of course with Whinestone been elected that he’s old!
If he should cark it, pop his clogs, etc, what happens?
Will he get a state funeral, just like the late Queen and husband?
Gun carriage, boots upside down on the gee gee, people linning the street six deep.
Lying in state in parliament with the gaurds at the four corners.
Will people come from miles around, just to make sure the old bugger is in the ground!

  6. An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle. She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her lungs,
“I have a gun, and I know how to use it! Get out of the car – NOW!”
The four men didn’t wait for a second threat. They got out and ran like mad. The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got into the driver’s seat. She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition. She tried and tried, and then she realized why. It was for the same reason she had wondered why there was a football, a Frisbee, and two 12-packs of beer in the front seat.
A few minutes later, she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down. She loaded her bags into her own car and drove to the police station to report her mistake. The Sergeant to whom she told the story couldn’t stop laughing! He pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a carjacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair, and carrying a large handgun.
    No charges were filed.
Moral of the story? If you’re having a senior moment…make it memorable!

Sadly is Bruce Willis dead to the world, or is the world dead to Bruce Willis.
Eventually it will be, after dementia as rumours off his death, are at the moment premature.

      8

      0

      • A lesson for all. Dementia is a “modern age” condition.
Often called Type 3 diabetes. Inositol deficiency is one cause.

And of course modern pharma drugs/vaccines are also a contributing factor. There is an increasing link between vaccines and Autism.

If it happens in the young, we see children with Autism. In the old we see dementia.

Two things to add into a healthy lifestyle to give your brain nutrition:

[1] Adequate fat. Your brain is almost entirely composed of cholesterol. A low fat diet can not only make you lose your marbles, but contribute to MS and in some cases kill you. Cholesterol is a building block of the body, critical for tissue repair and nerve insulation. A lack of, or damaged nerve insulation is a large component in MS.

Losing your marbles also explains why many vegans lack critical thinking.

        [2] Inositol.

While your brain is composed of fat, it runs on sugar. Not just any sugar, but Inositol, which is created from good carbohydrates. Glucose (sugar) can inhibit Inositol production especially in the brain.. Type 3 diabetes is where the brain cannot synthesize and absorb the Inositol. And the amount of Inositol in the brain is normally many many times higher in the brain than elsewhere in the body, e.g. kidneys, and due to the limitations of system blood circulation brain blood barrier, lowered inositol in the brain is not easily compensated by Inositol elsewhere in the body.

Luckily you can get Inositol supplements. Powder is better than capsules, especially if you need to take higher doses.

Inositol has been tested and used for decades for treating ADHD, Anxiety and panic attacks, and being tested for Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Autism.

Oddly enough the advice about fat and brain sugar came from an old school hospital dietician. However most GP’s and doctors are unaware of it.

Here are a couple of easy to understand links:
        https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/drugs/25173-inositol
        https://www.health.com/inositol-7564463

Do your own research else where or talk to a health professional if you can find one.

  8. The Ottoman Empire became a safe haven for Jews from the Iberian Peninsula fleeing persecution (see Alhambra Decree). By the end of the 16th century, the Ottoman Empire had the largest Jewish population in the world, with 150,000 compared to Poland’s and non-Ottoman Ukraine’s combined figure of 75,000.

The Jews satisfied various needs in the Ottoman Empire. The Muslim population of the Empire was largely uninterested in business enterprises and accordingly left commercial occupations to members of minority religions. Additionally, since the Ottoman Empire was engaged in a military conflict with the Christian nations at the time, Jews were trusted and regarded “as potential allies, diplomats, and spies”.[23] There were also Jews that possessed special skills in a wide range of fields that the Ottomans took advantage of, including David and Samuel ibn Nahmias, who established a printing press in 1493.

    • We already know it’s coming, because like the last one, Covid-19, it has been ‘predicted’ by Bill Gates. This one is predicted scheduled to occur for the run up to the 2024 US elections.

Tedros, a man from high up in the health Ministry of Marxist Ethiopia. If you remember the ‘Live Aid for Africa’ concert televised worldwide in the 1980’s that raised somewhere north of $350 million to address poverty in Ethiopia, at the same time as the new Marxist Ethiopian Govt spent $250 million in celebrating becoming a Marxist Country.

Live Aid for Africa essentially financed Marxism. Tedros was 20 at the time, and Ethiopia is still a Marxist controlled country. For Tedros to rise high in the Ethiopian Govt he would have had to drink the Marxist Koolaid.

Two years and hundreds of thousands of casualties later, Ukraine will now have to beg for a deal Russia would’ve gladly agreed to before the war. We told you this would happen. Nothing went wrong, nothing could’ve gone differently, this was always going to happen and everyone w/half a brain could see that from day one. Shame on everyone who cheered on this unnecessary slaughter.

  10. Our finally completed election results need to be viewed on several levels. On the surface, the change of government was caused because Jacinda Ardern’s and Chris Hipkins’ Labour ministries were weak in personnel and unable to extract even respectable performance from the current feeble bureaucracy when dealing with bread and butter issues. Early in the Covid pandemic the ministry splashed money about, contributing to inflation which Kiwis suffered from disproportionately through the world-wide lift in mortgage rates. Ministers failed to deliver on new housing but overall house prices still subsided when immigration briefly contracted. Educational standards slid for some years prior to 2017 but went into free fall when Hipkins was minister. Constant chaotic restructuring of the health services produced no discernible improvement in services, and none is yet in sight. There were never-ending cost over-runs with infrastructure. Nothing changed for the better when Hipkins became PM early this year. His ministry partially collapsed on him, leaving voters increasingly convinced that the whole government needed to be laid to rest. At the 2023 election Labour secured barely half the portion of the total vote of three years earlier.

  11. The evening of the 5th Nov approaches, surely our most enigmatic date of the year. A disaffected Catholic nutter from a time long past attempted to assassinate King James I & to destroy the British parliament in one hit. He & his co-conspirators were were hanged, drawn & quartered in January 1606.

Yet today in the Antipodes, 12,000 miles away, in what some hopefuls consider a secular society, poor families will each spend $100s of money begged & borrowed from Social Welfare to let off fireworks & rockets which will light up Mangere & Porirua as seen from outer space. For the next month the MSM will be clogged with protests from health workers, fire fighters, mad women & their cats.

        • According to Homes.co.nz valuations our property is up 4.5% last month. Only another 19% to go to get back to it’s peak. (The drop from peak was 16% so requires 23% from the bottom to get back to peak. Though with current interest rates and a stagnating economy it may take some time. Not that I care it is our home and the value is not all that relevant.

    Tony Alexander says..
“The effectiveness of monetary policy therefore at restraining the economy is to some extent easing, not strengthening. Now, imagine what will happen when rising population and falling construction meet falling mortgage rates from late next year. It is not surprising that other forecasters are now approaching my expectation of prices rising 10% next year from 5% this year. 2025? Probably 15% or thereabouts.

Welcome to the upward leg of the house price cycle. It usually runs for about six years, and we are now entering month six.”

New Zealand First party leader Winston Peters lambasted media during a 40-minute speech in Port Waikato this afternoon, labelling Q+A presenter Jack Tame a “left-wing shill” and a “moron”.

In one instance, he began speaking about the “glum” atmosphere at NZ First’s base on election night when he targeted Tame and other political reporters.

“We just won. We knew on election night that we held all the cards, but we had to sit around and listen to all these political experts like Jack Tame and every other left-wing shill payed for by the taxpayer,” he said to boos and groans from the crowd.

“Then [you] have the affront of you to say ‘would you like to come onto my show?'”
