    • The more people who become aware of the cesspit of lies and corruption the COL operate in the better for a landslide against the bunch of self-serving weasels at the next election. Shane is just showing his intent to get re-elected anyway he can even if he blatantly buys those votes with taxpayer money.

            • I reckon NZF will suddenly re-boot the holiday highway just before the house rises which is July next year. This would be an incredibly cynical thing to do but I think Jones winning Northland is their only hope of avoiding electoral oblivion. A new highway which we were promised would be his last throw of the dice. The man is a screaming wanker with absolutely no morals or scruples.

  2. Why do people still vote for NZ First when MP’s like Jenny Marcroft, Ron.Mark and now Shane Jones use blackmail anutu to secure votes.

Of course when you have a Leader that holds to much power with just 7% of the vote and a Prime Minister that is weak and out of her depth it easy for Winston and his cronies to set the agenda and hold the country to ransom with a 3 billion bribe fund.

    • OMG, did anyone lookup what blackmail actually is?
Pointing out that funds were made available for work to be done is hardly blackmail.
Work that in many cases needed doing.
The Nats and labour have used roading funds forever to get elected, a case being Simon of the 10 bridges. and the Welcome Bay Underpass.
Labour tried bribing all those without houses, remember that guy Twyford and the Greens have bribed thier lot iwth allowing the dope to be free.

Hard to see why such an extensive investigation is required either.

  7. Our wonder industry tourism is down.

    Who would have thought.
Our prices are too high – cigarettes, booze, groceries are all really expensive for tourists
Eighty dollars to go to Hobbiton!
And Labour have added extra charges for tourists walks
Our crime rate on them is to high
And the Greens world wide are pushing climate change!

Business Confidence down again next month?

    0

    0

    • I have just had 2 weeks in Australia.
Wine is cheaper but beer is way more expensive.
      Dollar for dollar about double.
Eg Six pack in NZ about NZD 12-15; in Aust AUD24 -25.

Who cares if cigarettes are more expensive. Helps our tax take.
That should not make or break tourism.
If you are worried about the price of things in another country why bother travelling?
They would pay at least NZD 2500 dollars return for a ticket from USA or Europe to NZ.
You go to experience something different.
We have far too many of the free loading French and German ‘back packers’ as it is.

Our groceries are expensive but so too is Australia. Most purchases per item were more expensive and fruit is more expensive per kg and generally lower quality as they wont import in order to protect local industries. Fark WTO.
Eg. in 2005 with a huge cyclone the banana crop was virtually wiped out. No imports. Bananas were AUD 18 to 20 per kg.
The apple choices are limited – pretty much Pink lady and Granny smith and more expensive except at Aldi. Woolworths was a shocker where I did the first shop. Then I found an Aldi.
I did one Coles shop which was better than Woolworths but more expensive than Aldi.
Tea, coffee, cereals, F+V, and bread more expensive than i pay in NZ.

Petrol was lower and most purchases were initially at AUD 1.35 per litre with a fill up at $1.29 at one place on Sunshine coast. After the Saudi bombing on the 14th Sep prices jumped overnight by 20c/litre. Those that were $1.36 Sat were $1.56 Sunday. The big chains went from $1.56 to $1.76.

Dining out used to be really cheap in Australia 10 to 15 years ago with $5 to $7 breakfasts and $10 to $12 evening meals.
That is no longer the case.

Food is expensive in the Pacific Islands as most has to be imported and sometimes double handled to get to outer islands where resorts are.
NZ is in the zone price wise for the region.

I agree about the crime. I tell visitors to treat North of Whangarei as they would the Congo.
Of course Australia are smart enough to kick out the criminals once convicted and served time.
NZ simply hugs these crims so crime will be higher.
The pathetic judges have been doing it for longer than the COL has been in power.

The media is far worse in AU than here. Of course Stuffed is owned by Channel Nine who are not a shadow of what they were 30 years ago. Local FTA TV was about 50% adverts.
They have an offset with some against the trend elements like Sky News and Alan Jones.
The local AU media filth allowing the rotten raggedy scabs from Qatar – Al Jazzera- to do a hit on local politicians – One Nation – and then jumping on that bandwagon – as it suited their agenda – is a low watermark.

Lots of reading both in layman’s language and heavy physics. If you are like me and the physics is too heavy for you, the layman’s stuff gives a really good understanding of their work. It is worth reading the About Us page to see that these guys are not straight academics and all their research is self funded.

  11. Just heard Winston Peters explaining that after nine years of neglect the Gold Card Holders are going to get a better deal.

That is nonsense though as the first thing the Winston Peters appointed government did was to cancel a planned tax reduction that would have left my wife and I $2000 better off between us. Giving me a list of places that offer discount and an App to help find them is not going to add up to the $2000 we lose annually to pay for government working parties and associated waste.

What caps off the rant is that we have a new tenant just signed up. We pay the new tenant fee now, not the tenant. Winston Peters has cost us far more than he has suggested he is handing out.

  12. Now, this is what I call an adequate sentence for murder. 34 years in a Thai prison.

“Preeyanuch “Preaw” Nonwangchai, Kawita Ratchada, Apiwan Sapbundit and Wasin Namprom were found guilty last year by the lower court on various charges including murdering and concealing the body of Warisara “Am” Klinjui, a bar worker in Khon Kaen.

The sentences against Preeyanuch and Kawita were commuted to 34 years and three months in jail each due to their confessions. The lower court also commuted the jail term against Apiwan to 33 years and nine months, also due to her confession.”

Rag dolling, snapping bones and high five-ing arms out of there sockets with your fellow team mates is not acceptable for a 6ft 8″ beast in a tutu.

NZ First block drug checking: ‘Stick to things that are safe’

Minister Stuart Nash started pushing for pill-testing after recreational drugs laced with pesticides were found at a festival last summer. He said the testing would prevent people from unknowlingly ingesting bad batches of recreational drugs.

Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters says a proposal to legalise drug checks at music festivals would send the wrong message about drug use, which he believes is a “thoroughly bad idea” and should not be condoned.
“We know the black market at the moment is really complicated with new and very dangerous substances being cooked up all the time.

“We live in the real world. The bottom line for us: can we keep people safe? Yes, these services do that, so we’ll continue to run them,” he said.

The National Party did not support the proposal either and Mr Ball (NZ First), didn’t respond to a request

    for comment.
