Waikatogirl ,around 20 years ago a guy who had just fitted a new engine in his game boat took it out from tutukākā to give the engine a few hour’s running,about 10km out he saw a work up of fish and noticed a couple of marlin feeding so he threw one line over with a suitable lure and motored around the work up ,he hooked one and struggled by himself to bring it to the boat but finally managed then slipped ,fell over the side and desperately grabbed for the fish which was floating expired behind the launch ,now he was in trouble as the boat was on autopilot at around 2 knots the rod was also feeding out line because of the extra weight ,in the end he was incredibly lucky someone turned up and saw his plight and saved him apparently his chest was nearly skinned because of the roughness of the fishes skin.
I forgot to mention after being dragged around for about 15 minutes the bloody marlin started coming back to life as well ,one very lucky man.
