  1. This may make you feel better then. Intelligent think from the Nats. NOT

National is looking into a scheme which would penalise parents whose children leave school before they’re 18 and don’t go on to study.

Under current law, students are allowed to leave school at 16 – National want those who leave school at that age to either be in tertiary education, or in work that has an educational element.

If the under 18-year old is not, National want to issue the parents with an up to $3000 fine.
    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12273032

They have their head up their arse if they think this will make a difference.
What would make a difference would be helping employers take these kids on to train them?
But don’t expect the universally educated Nats to understand that.

    Absolutely no idea.

And stop paying people for doing nothing.

    • How the hell do you drag a sullen 16 year old off to Polytechnic?
Be better to fine some folk $3,000 for every day their 6 year old doesn’t turn up to school – with lunch.

    • My first thought was great they will get to pay off that fine at $5 a week from their benefits (which means you & i will be paying for it) you are 100% correct Viking its bloody stupid

      • I left home right after my 16th birthday, got a full time job and my own flat while still finishing high school. It was my choice (Dad was a real prick in those days lol) and I’d not have my parents punished for it ffs. Some kids are mature enough to make their own decisions at that age.

          ….And many are not.

A couple of generations ago some kids that age were defending the realm, if it came to that now, we’d be well in the cack.

    • This taxpayer says the political bribe to enter the drift has been satisfied. Let those families who wish to go 170 metres in a buggy wearing a Fluoro vest etc do so, then, surely, enough is enough.

Getting to 2.3 km is just not a reasonable demand on taxpayers based on the costs to date.

  2. We are into October 2019 and the argument on Wellingtons Transport plan is still a long way from people knowing the fact with Phil Twyford , Julie Ann Genter still trying to hide the facts on their involvement of the Transport Plan. Documents released reveal how frustrated and concerned Treasury was behind the scenes of Wellingtons 6.4 billion Transport Plan.
    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/politics/news/article.cfm?c_id=280&objectid=12273062
Surely with the interest being so high from the public over this Plan and the shenanigans that have happened between Julie Anne Genter and Justin Lester the Ombudsman should declare that the facts need to be Published.

  3. I wonder how many National MPs including Simon really believe the climate alarmist BS. I bet none of them just like Cindy and Jimmy two moms would not be prepared to debate the issue with sceptical scientists.

            • I find that an interesting choice. Respect to you for trying to change them, but I couldn’t try to change something as fundamental as “do not care about science and logic just votes”.

That feels a bit too much like trying to convince Jacinda to stop lying, Jones to stop being a bully, JAG – fuck – ALL the Greens from being batshit insane.

There’s only so much shit you can push uphill and if the starting point is a party with no respect for freedom, who ignores science in pandering for votes …

Well, not sure somebody like that deserves a vote.

  4. The “New Website” will be going live tonight. It has major changes to make it load faster. 50% less plugins. The layout is easier to navigate.
When you log in tomorrow you need to change your passwords at some time. It’s not something you need to do right away but for your own security it might pay to do so.
I like the new layout, makes it easier for me to administer. Hope you like it, so keep your bitching to a minimum. No one likes change but I can remember when DPF changed the comments nesting on KB.
Most of us didn’t like it but it soon became easier to read.
    Enjoy.

  5. Boris Johnson to again request Parliament suspended
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/10/boris-johnson-to-again-request-parliament-suspended.html

“The suspension is required in order to allow for a Queen’s Speech on October 14. That was scheduled to happen at the end of the previous prorogation. Johnson had argued he called for the prorogation in order to have a Queen’s Speech, which resets the Government’s legislative agenda.”

    It’s a game of chess.

    0

    0

    • So they go to the SC to get the prorogation removed with a new “make up on the spot” rule. What has been achieved in the mean time –not a lot from what I see?

      0

      0

      • The Queen’s speech will be interesting. She will not criticise the ‘chess’ moves of Parliament but their will be a tone. Trying to prevent prorogation of Parliament which in effect prevents the right of the monarch to give her speech will have be noted.

This Parliamentary and legal Chicanery will change democracy in the UK and possibly elsewhere and the precedents set may bite those who thought they could overrule the electorates wishes – you cannot beat numbers as China is discovering and if they try HK will be the Golden Egg Xi broke and used for an ommlette.

  6. Interesting comment from Putin.

“Sure, Greta is kind, but emotions should not control this issue,” said Putin.

“Go and explain to developing countries why they should continue living in poverty and not be like Sweden,” he added, before saying that it was deplorable how some groups are using Thunberg to achieve their own goals.

In Norway just another summit, I think about over 5 years ago.

It is not that speaker that we are inviting that has these extreme radical views as you say.
These are general views that every muslim actually has.
Every muslim believes in these things.
Just because they are not telling you about it or just because they are not out there in the media doesn’t mean they do not believe in them.

    • The attack was trivial compared to the number and severity of Islamic attacks. Just look at Sri Lanka, which the media have buried. Islamic attacks on the scale of Christchurch are a weekly occurrence.

What Brenton did was disgusting and I in no way support it. But it is nothing compared to what Islam does daily.

      https://thereligionofpeace.com/attacks/attacks.aspx?Yr=Last30

Note: This is a very quiet month with only 115 Islamic attacks in 20 countries, in which 574 people were killed and 776 injured.

    • Working with NZF would be depressing. You join the “team” with high levels of personal integrity intending to do good for the country and realise you are working with egotistical, self-serving individuals with no concept of honesty, sincerity and who are generally lower than a snakes belly. The country be damned, NZF politicians are in it for their own ends. Many years ago we had Stan Whitehead ex Speaker of the house and then Mel Courtney both Labour MP’s but also did heaps for the community. It’s people like Winston Peter’s that has changed and gamed the system and MP’s seem to want to be like him.

          • Happy, I agree with you as far as MPs looking after their electorates. I sent an email to National’s current spokesman on climate change and copied to the previous spokesmen as well as Simon Bridges. Nick Smith is a previous spokesman. I have not received a response from any of these MPs just from their office.

In the meantime Todd Muller a former spokesman put his support for the school children on his Facebook under

Some thoughts on Friday’s School Strike for Climate

I admire the passion of the students who marched.

I agree with their demands that those in political and economic influence around the world must initiate faster global action on climate change ……

Also, we hear Bridges say he supports the view the global warming is mainly caused by humans.

            https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/simon-bridges-doesnt-see-climate-change-emergency-says-labels-unhelpful-and-worrying

His view is of course far better than the others but he knows if he stated the truth that the science is not settled it could cost the party votes unless he explained his reasoning well.

I wonder if anyone here on YSB believes that global warming is mainly caused by humans this has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

  11. Is Hillary going to run again?

With Biden fatally marked as a crook, Fauxcahontas getting the heave-ho from the donors who really don’t want her brand of communism, and Bernie having heart surgery – the way is gradually being cleared for Hillary to rise up and take on the “illegitimate” Trump (Hillary has appeared on the scene again with those words).

  13. Go for a walk around Wellington and look at the miserable physical specimens that are millennials. Vast numbers of them present with poor posture, obvious misalignment and deformity. Flat feet, legs that seem to wobble around and land randomly as they walk, and a general lifeless sullen demeanor. Most have headphones as they can’t stand being alone with their own idiotic thoughts.

They are also the least inventive generation, who have contributed nothing of value to human kind. The most they have done is use the computer technology, developed by the silent generation and boomers, for the narcissistic pursuit of social media, infantile things like toasters hooked up to the internet and other nonsense.

They are a failed generation and severe measures should be deployed in the interests of the greater good.

    When elected I will:

    1. Ban people in large cities from voting. Only Farmers, manufacturers and other productive types will have that right.
    2. Ban millennials from government jobs.
    3. Sterilise all millennials.
    4. Depopulate large cities.
    5. Ask Trump to send in troops to control Labour, Greens and other domestic terrorists.
    6. Remove all rights and protections from vegetarians.
