  3. Australia’s illegal tobacco turf war escalates; Government announces $188 million to stop smuggling
Australia’s tobacco turf war has escalated.
Gangs are using youths to steal tobacco and firebomb stores and now the government is moving fast to crack down on the black market.

It’s announced an AU$188 million fund to stop cigarettes being smuggled through the border.
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2024/01/australia-s-illegal-tobacco-turf-war-escalates-government-announces-188-million-to-stop-smuggling.html

AU$1.7 billion-worth of illegal cigarettes were seized at the border last year, plus almost 900 tonnes of loose-leaf tobacco.

This week, the Australian government announced $188 million towards cracking down on the black market – targeting what’s being smuggled in at the border.

The government hopes $188m will calm down the turf war before it claims a life.

something ACT got right this time.
Politicans are fuck witted people for sure.

    • I am here V2, just preparing myself to be ruled by Maori after tomorrows “Day of Moaning” at Turangawaewae where a truck driver who has become a King with no Crown, will decide, that he is my Natural Born Leader and that he and Maori are going to lead this country, forever into the future with no vote on the subject by either you or I.

With Tuku Morgan as the truck driver’s advisor and the Man of the Cloth, the Anglican Arch Deacon, Niel Ngira Laird Simmonds, as the truck driver’s, Chief of Staff, what could go wrong?

If all goes as planned by the Huntly truck driver, Tuku and the European/Maori cross breed gentleman, Niel Ngira Laird Simmonds, who has just found his Maoriness, I will tomorrow afternoon, identify as Maori and then be ruled by “my people”.

      Again, what could go wrong?//

        • Sooty, it is all part of a cunning plan.

Te Crownless King has told all and sundry that there is no room to Kip down here, (Turangawaewae) but by a stroke of luck and just good fortune, Tainui has a Casino and Hotel just down the road and you can all doss down there. Don’t forget to pay as you leave, but be quick, rooms are going fast.

  4. rail services on the improve.
    https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=762205349260140&set=pcb.762205469260128
Rail have bought some big trolleys. actually watched some on Sunday while looking for a car. Long decks and tandemed up.
The one I watched had logs. the ones in the oics are for a bridge Hebs are building. They have transported the concrete bridge parts from their yard to the bridge by train rather than trucks. saved 8500Km’s of trucking.
There was a blurb with it but I didn’t save it last night.
There are lots of rail and road bridges to replace so this is a good way to handles all that prestreessed concrete.

  5. A guy goes to the doctor with a severe upset stomach. The doctor diagnoses a tapeworm, but says “not to worry”, he’s got a surefire cure.

“Okay!” Says the guy, “When can you start? I can’t stand the thought of a tapeworm in me.”

Doc says, “Okay. Drop your pants, lean over the table.” When the guy assumes, Doc suddenly rams a hot dog up there. Waits 15 seconds and rams a hard boiled egg up there. The guy is surprised to say the least, but Doc just tells him to come back tomorrow.

Next day, same thing. Doc says, “Drop your pants, lean over the table.” Rams a hot dog up there. Waits 15 seconds and rams a hard boiled egg up there. The guy is surprised again, but Doc just tells him to come back tomorrow.

This goes on for 6 days, and on the 7th, the guy says, “Hey Doc, I think the cure is worse than the tapeworm. I can’t take it anymore. Doc says, “No worries, it will all be over tomorrow.”

Next day, the guy assumes the position. Doc rams a hot dog up there. Waits 15 seconds.

    Nothing. Waits 15 more seconds.

    Nothing. Waits 15 more seconds.

Then when the tapeworm stuck his head and yelled, “Hey, where’s my boiled egg!?” Doc grabbed it and yanked it out!

  6. ‘Go f*** yourself’ email: Mayor gets ‘hugely positive response’
    https://www.1news.co.nz/2024/01/17/go-f-yourself-email-mayor-gets-hugely-positive-response/

Mayor Len Salt used the frank sign-off in an email last year in the hope of ending correspondence.

“Please keep a record of my reply in case you need to refer to it for legal reasons or future court cases,” he wrote.

“My official response, as Mayor of Thames-Coromandel District Council, to your request for personal details of staff names and addresses, is this.

    “Go f*** yourself.

    “Kind regards, Len.”

Sovereign citizens believe they are not subject to laws and regulations created by governments, or rulings made by courts.

Salt said he took the request for private information of staff members as a sign of an escalating threat.

The mayor gave it short shrift as he said he had a low tolerance for abusive or harassing dealings, which have risen dramatically in recent years.

    • Personally WG, I think the Mayor gave this geezer the right send off, telling him to “fuck off” with this response.

“Please keep a record of my reply in case you need to refer to it for legal reasons or future court cases,”

Steve Hart of The Future Sovereign Movement believe they are not subject to the Laws of this Land, so it is hardly likely and most hypocritical of them, should they decide to take any legal Action in a Court against the Mayor or Council.

    • “The proof of the pudding is in the eating”
So it may be based on earlier commitments, but that extra amount of money? Bait & Fish hooks?

…. The deal, if backed by the IMF’s executive board, will give Argentina access to $4.7 billion, the Fund said in a statement late on Wednesday.
That’s more than the $3.3 billion initially expected, and it buys Milei time to honor debt repayments to the Fund before deciding whether to continue with the current program brokered by his predecessor or negotiate a new one. …. ….

      https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-01-15/milei-to-meet-georgieva-in-davos-after-winning-key-imf-support
      Paywalled.

…. But so far, Milei and the fund are in a honeymoon phase.
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva applauded his first moves and top members of the president’s economic team even met with senior US Treasury officials in the president’s first month in office.
Milei went as far to say that the IMF “sees us as heroes” because of his austerity-driven program. ….

      https://www.batimes.com.ar/news/economy/argentina-reaches-deal-with-imf-staff-to-unlock-us33-billion.phtml

So who is getting this money? Corporates?
Is this the beginning of the Public Private Partnerships? and who sets those guidelines?
Some call it “Innovative State Capitalism”
A little bit of wait & see in this, to see where it tracks & will there be some real pushback or will the system “guideline” Milei to another track.

      In defense of Milei.

… “A society that obsesses with equality sooner or later becomes a society of looters and falls apart. That is the story of Argentina.
Therefore, the point is that social justice is unjust.
There is nothing more unjust than social justice.
Because what is the greatest achievement of liberalism?

Liberalism’s greatest achievement is “equality before the law.” This is to say, the law is the same for everyone. When you adhere to the idea of social justice, which means the redistribution of income, what you are really doing is using the repressive state apparatus so you can take from the successful to distribute it capriciously according to the wishes of whomever is in power.” …
      https://www.thedailybeast.com/musk-boosts-anti-social-justice-rant-from-argentinas-next-president-javier-milei

I hope he can hold his course, as at some stage one would think there will be a major bust up, and day of reckoning.
      Then again nothing is perfect.

  7. I was thinking about how Golly G was complaining about all the threats she was getting constantly during her entire time in parliament. Surely the police would have a file on this or at the very least parliamentry services who’s job it is to look after her should have a massive file going by what Shaw and Davidson say. Surely releasing this information would garner sympathy and even help mitigate Golly’s offending? Then I realised Golly has only ever worked for the Green Party, she has never won an electorate seat, she represents nobody and she is only accountable to her own party. Therefore, if she is telling the truth for once we can only conclude that the Green Party must be a bunch of racist woman hating control freaks who are complete bastards to work for.

    • Tarquin, I don’t know about “woman hating” but I guarantee none of the men in that caucus is ‘woman banging’ , I may be wrong actually as one of the 2023 intake looks like a goat fcuker and he may prefer Nannie goats LOL.

    • T, even Luxon said in his Press Conference yesterday that “Women of Colour” in Parliament get more abuse than anyone.

      Really?

Where is Luxon’s evidence of that? And if there is evidence of that why has not the Speaker, either current or past, as the person who runs Parliament or Peter Hughes as Public Service Commissioner not done anything about it and taken appropriate action.

Sounds like more bullshit the public is expected to swallow.

      9

      • I don’t think anyone in parliament has been as abusive and racist as Marama Davidson, and I don’t seem to remember Golly batting an eye lid when that insane bitch was going off. She would appear to only be triggered by white people and Zionists. Spouting sanctimonious racist bullshit and supporting dead beat rag heads seems to be the Greens only reason for existing. Why do we have to pay for these losers?

        13

        0

    • It’s interesting – I sent hate mail to multiple politicians over the past few years, but Golly was never, ever, on my radar. I find it hard to believe that she couldn’t wind me up, but copped abuse from others.

Only a few bottles of milk, no cream whatsoever, some bread, bugger all cheese blocks, tinned fruit seems to be in short supply and on and on it went.

    • …. Net arrivals 123000 (247000) …..
Seems to be much churn here, like “chumming” (burley) the waters.
To have a fresh lot of nigh on quarter of million of new peoples within 4 years..

Seems to be swapping the existing kiwis out.?
So if it continues for say 4 years, then it will be a million of new people.
All to be supportive of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, to have the systemic governments departments etc.. to pay out & share the accrued gold.

      • Why forget that 247,000 figure of new people arriving in New Zealand Mike Hunty????
It seems more than close enough.. ! give or take a thousand or 2.
They were all new people to New Zealand !

……. New figures released today show a staggering net migration of 128,900 people to New Zealand in the year to October.

The figures from Stats NZ show 245,600
(up 165%) migrants arrived and 116,700 (up 26%) departed. ….

…. provisional net migration gain of 128,900 ……
        https://www.1news.co.nz/2023/12/12/immigration-figures-show-record-breaking-net-migration-to-nz/

A net gain even higher by 5,000 people than your figures.

Many Kiwis obviously leaving, though could be when some newbies gain citizenship too.
Will some of them be returned to NZ as 501’s?
Is it really good to have this churn, chumming, happening in New Zealand?

Noting error in my first comment to correct.
To have a fresh lot of nigh on quarter of million of new peoples within 4 years.. should be new peoples within 1 year.

So a million new people in 4 years.

Many of the new migrants are great, but there is whole tribe, that used to work, drifting along on benefits

  9. The Natives are getting restless. Guess it is a concerted effort with the Huntly truck drivers “Fun Day in the Park” tomorrow, the Ratana Bun Fight and the Waitangi Hooley coming up. A good time to make mischief and trouble.

I note the Natives did not do that when Labour and the Greens were running the shop, now a new Shopkeeper has taken over and they don’t like the goods on display. The Early Settler and the Disaffected need to understand, they are not getting the old shopkeeper back for a long time as they are out talking to the Insolvency Advisors who are currently delivering disastrous
    news to them.

But Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith says the paper is simply a draft document from the Ministry of Justice and “has not been seen or considered by Cabinet”.

  12. New Zealand is also on the same trend as we know the Rot flows from the Top, like Parliament.
That strange rationale of no logic, no understanding of consequences, & no respect for the basis of civilization.

These Are The Consequences For Legalizing Shoplifting
    https://youtu.be/Kdtf_epcY0M
    24 mins 12 secs : 19th January : The Daily Wire : Matt King.

” – to call attention to terrible behavior on the part of the ‘community’ would destroy the I am a ‘victim’ narrative. The ‘community’s is not ready to give that (mentality) up. — ”

Why do the politicians, pastors, community leaders, all amplified by the willing media support the ‘victim-hood’
But in a perverse way, all those “leaders” are doing very well out of this, and are set to ride this ‘horse’ to death over so many dead bodies, that they supposedly are very concerned about.
Sadly the next generation are educated into the same way.

This is just a symptom of the deeper changes in the past 20 years.
In a way this seems to be deliberately & socially engineered to happen, and it is very insidiously deep rooted in many other aspects, as we have to put up more security systems, to be on guard, have no trust, in others spheres of our lives.

  13. In one of his rants Martin Bradbury today moans about the fuck useless teaching profession not being sufficiently worshipped. Ignoring the fact that in their haste to become “the teacher who made the difference” they put aside the desires of those who pay them to produce kids capable of reading & writing, preferring to instil socialist Maorified crap. Not content with their overinflated salaries for what is a part time job with three months annual leave they ram their political fantasies down the throats of their poorly educated charges.

Yet from the detritus of the socialist hive mind Bradbury manages to bring up one salient point. Since, as it seems, half the kids can’t be taught basic literacy & numeracy in ten plus years why not use the facilities for voluntary evening adult education?

In an era where taxpayers’ money is treated as confetti, prisons are chocka with illiterate no-hopers & employers can’t find staff who can write their own names surely hiring a few tutors to do what the NZEI members can’t would be a good investment.

    9

    • Been there done that.
The supposed great courses on basket weaving, but also the photography courses that could lead to jobs producing photos for calendars.
A course to put “Icing on the Cake” for those who could afford more than bread.

Whether a bucket of KFC to help attendance of the illiterate, non-numerate.

Though I do support the in part the Seymour’s ACT policy for those prisoners.

Offenders who study basic numeracy and literacy courses in prison should be rewarded with time shaved off their sentences, ACT leader David Seymour says.
      https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/89802594/act-to-reward-prisoners-with-reduced-sentences-for-learning–to-read-in-prison

Maybe have it related to what % of the benefit they can receive, and related to certain books they have read.
Like Thomas Sowell 🙂 or Sir Apirana Ngata, in a Readers Digest summary.

Nah can not have that, as it all pushing an ideology to control their free will & thoughts. 🙁
Just like putting them on a budgeting course, would be seen as controlling them. 🙁

It is all good as they will have to look at consequences for when 3 strikes is put in again.
Then after that stick, maybe the other part will be the carrot to work things through.

      • My point, which I guess I failed to make properly, is that participation must be voluntary. While “hobby” courses may have their place they will do little to improve people, their well being or their society,

The subject matter is a red herring. The best teaching material is something the learner is interested in be it motorcycles, cookery or safe breaking. The purpose of the course(s) is to pass on the gift of literacy.

While we’re at it budgetary & cooking skills are valuable unlike Kapa haka. Everyone needs to eat but few feel compelled to knock out a waiata at whim. David Seymour might be able to wring the cultural crap out of the ivory tower educationalists.

      • My reaction was not perfect, on the first paragraph but once writ, one becomes loath to delete. 🙂
Sorry if that de railed your point, but it also serves the point on keeping that “night school” tutoring to focus and keep to & not become side-tracked.

For the rest I think it developed your points further nasska,
The smiley parts were said with tongue in cheek, as I am sure a dose of all those would be good.

Just bearing in mind the ones who will ‘protests’th’ too much.

The only catch is the ones running the benefit agencies, at a profitable salary who will not apply shorting the benefit % , & be turning a blind eye, & keep on paying the benefit in full.
Still put in a place a good supervisor/manager so it is done properly.

I may not have the knack, but some how if it can be set up with to bring about a camaradie, sort of self help that may become a self supporting group, would make it much more workable.

What ever to make it work, motorcycles, safe cracking,
