It is very cold in Hamilton this morning, time to put the heat pump on at these temperatures so much for the boiling temperatures we were supposed to have this summer, a couple of days and that was it. I cannot remember how many days it hit the 30s maybe one? Early for these cold temperatures I would have thought. I have to ask is it the start of the new ice age? Oh well it will certainly be our fault if it is.
Morning. It is cold, 3º so have turned the heat pump on but it’s taking time to find any warm air. We had a heavy frost one March but that was years ago. Not a cloud in the sky but no frost. Global boiling pfffft!
Switched the heat pump on late last night as a preventive. 🙂

It is cold even in the south – London – for months of the year . Nov to March.

I understand heat pumps drop away in ability to operate as it gets colder.

last place we lived (crappy farm house) the outdoor unit of the heatpump was located behind the house where it would be permanently frosty for a couple of months in winter.
the fucking heap of shit would literally freeze solid into a giant ice cube after a few hours running then take 2-3months to defrost before you could use it again. thank fuck the house had a good yunca fireplace, i installed a cheap heat transfer unit and that fucker after 30mins would heat the house waaaay better then the heatpump would running flat out when it waant frozen solid.
fuck heat pumps in a cold climate, only a fucking moron would rely on one and everyone with heatpump in cold climate should have backup form of heating for when the power goes out.
the fuckwits at the heating outfit tried to get us to install heatpump instead of multifuel burner, heatpump was quite a bit cheaper too but fuck that shit i threw 8k at a new fireplace and dont regret it one bit, i love my house being sauna temps 🙂 doing that with a heat pump would send me broke, costs us bit over 1200bux per year to heat the house but the fire runs continuous from about now through to november… cant beat radiant heat from a fire, way different to gas or electric.
Hiding the outside unit away behind the house is great for cooling in summer but shithouse for heating in winter.
All correct. A big problem are builders/home owners skimping on cost and installing a lower output unit. Cheap and inadequate doesn’t do the job or not enough units for the size of the home.
Some users also apparently don’t understand they have to change the output from heat for winter warmth to the cool setting for summer heat.

About 20 years ago I assisted an Italian in New Zealand with a Doctor’s appointment.
I was sort of surprized in filling out the background forms, that divided Europeans into Northern & Southern Europeans.
Then there was the sub-continent (India, Pakistan) and many other break downs, let alone our Maori & further splits of the Polynesian.
All of this is to help a Doctor to figure what is supposed to be a normal range in tests, and what possible diseases to be on the lookout for.

To my surprise they refused, except unless they would only do that if they got all my business.
So it is not so straight forward to have an unconnected bank account, in this evolving form of sharing all your information.
Even last century I was well aware that the main banks in NZ were also well aware if one had another bank where you held an account on the down-low.
