  1. Surely Hooton is running a Sarc line these days.

If not he is stark raving bonkers and needs more meds.
Despite his promoting Jacinda his misses the point that Peters made it clear years ago that they would never support a CGT. Seemingly Hooton missed that and no longer likes Winston.

Says something though when you have to shill for the MSM to earn a living.

  2. Old Joe Biden has announced his run for the presidency of the USA. He will be 78 on when he takes office. Biden says he asked Obama not to endorse his run as president, and said he’s running for president because everything about American democracy is “at stake” under a Trump presidency.

  3. The CoL announced the way to deal with Mycoplasma bovis was to cull any infected herd. A year on where are the rural sector with this? Mycoplasma bovis has not been eliminated and there are families suffering out there in the rural sector with their livelihoods in shreds. In 5 weeks time it will be the annual “Gypsy Day” when the dairy herds around the country are moved on 1 June as sharemilkers take over the running of a new farm.

    • Where are they holding the conference Chuck? I do hope National are hungry to be elected and are prepared to fight for that win. A hint of steel in their backbone to show the electorate they mean business and are not on the same virtue signalling path as the CoL. NZ’ers need a government committed to a growing economy, lower taxes, practical and commonsense policies, and business need less red tape strangling productivity. Please report back after your conference.

      • WG, the conference is at Sky City Hamilton. If you are a member you could probably still go. The cost is $130 + $60 if you want dinner on Saturday evening.

I think they can be too hungry for winning 2020. That may sound silly but I believe National should not be totally poll driven. That happened with the firearm confiscation. I hope that will not be the case will free speech. They should have objected to the ban on the manifesto. I see in Stuff that it is claimed that the alleged murderer was a Christian. There is no reason to believe that this is true.

So far I hear Simon Bridges talk of a grey area in regards free speech. I disagree. There certainly should be laws against incitement to violence which is the case. I do not think the pamphlet that Little wanted banned was appropriate or smart. If some group wanted the end of racist seats referring to Maori as stone age people does not help their cause. However, it should not be banned.

    • Hey Chuck, I am sure the editor will be more than willing to let you post back here any jucy tit bits of gossip from that conference. Don’t forget to tell them about the new freedom of speech blog.

  4. After a week off, I am back to try and show you righties who is the shining light in NZ politics. Jacinda has been outstanding in her pole as PM recently. And now she is going to Paris to co-chair a talk fest with the other outstanding youth adjacent world leader, Macron. All you old fogies need to realise that there is a new order taking over. Just slink away to your caves and your gin and tonics and reminisce about the good old days

  5. The Yellow Vests in Paris have won some concessions from Macron. Macron has announced a cut in taxes and intends to reduce the size of the French civil service.
Time will tell if he achieves a cut of government employees.

  6. Another major fail from our idiot PM. Rubbing noses with the Prince !!!

Yee gods… has she been keeping her Maori heritage a secret. Her ability to dress up in different nations costumes never ceases to amaze me. Worse than Jim Bolger and his various accents.

Seem to remember Clark wearing a trouser suit and putting her arm around the Queen so Ardern has been reading her book on how to be crass.

Today will we be subjected to more photos of the Prince and his new best friend desperately trying to put her arms around him ?

  7. As well as the government I would not be surprised that Dunedin rate payers would also be a soft touch.

When Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern visited the mosque yesterday, Dr Rizwan told her that it would need Government support to reach its funding goals.

She told him to work through the request with local MPs.

The association has set up a fundraising page on the website Givealittle.

There had already been discussions between the association and other organisations such as the Dunedin City Council about how they could help, he said.

At this stage there were no detailed plans for the upgrade but the aim was to build another storey on top of one of the existing rooms, Dr Rizwan said.

If successful, the association’s medium and long-term plan was to build more mosques in the city, he said.

I wonder if a “bell tower” could be built on the side. It will not hinder Friday prayers, but could ring out on Sundays just to help everybody to be inclusive. 🙂
