All those who have chosen to jump on the dietary food allergy bandwagon without medical diagnosis have made it more difficult for those who truly require to eliminate foods from their diet. The restaurants are having to cater for these self-diagnosed nutters.
I was taken out of a restaurant on a stretcher one night after eating ice cream.
I am allergic to eggs and they made the ice cream with raw egg.
It was no joke and I was as good as dead with an anaphylaxic attack.Have also had two episodes with reaction to bee stings.
I would like to know why allergies are becoming more common.

Sorry to hear that wiseowl. Obviously I was saying it is harder for people with real allergies to be taken seriously by restaurant staff due to all those with self-diagnosed food allergies. I have a diagnosed food allergy but it is non-life threatening so I don’t ask for special catering instead order carefully from the menu.

(that could use up some of my runny marmalade, I thought)….. then I found a marmalade and parsnip cake online, that looked tempting… especially as I had a couple of manky parsnips lurking at the bottom of the fridge… but it was a Yank recipe… full of oil and odd types of sugar/flour, so I consulted one of my old tomes and got waylaid by a Gingerbread recipe….
Being a Graduate of the Letitia Cropley school of Culinary Arts, I’ve combined all the recipes (and added half a grated carrot)…. Cake is rising nicely in the oven at the moment… husband sniffing around expectantly….

There were no leftovers of his dessert…I made a cognac egg custard to pour over his portion.
Actually – the cake turned out fine…not too sweet (which is too my taste); but even if it had been a bit of a disaster, I would have smothered it in whipped cream or enclosed it in pastry….never known the hubby to refuse anything so disguised.
