  1. Frightening news this morning. Saw a report the Prime Minister is working to make a Climate Change announcement at APEC in Chile on 14 November.

This country does not need a rushed, half baked, grovelling to the international scam around climate change or wealth redistribution. My reality as a taxpayer is I have no wealth to redistribute. I do not think farmers, or anyone working the land can accommodate the political sham around the Paris agreement and the wealth distribution inherent on that.

This taxpayer does not wish to lower living standards to meet some cunning plan devised by some master manipulators with alternative agendas.

Working to handle any real issues, as they arise in this country, after careful considerations of technology and economic impact is the best approach. Using ingenuity and resourcefulness, careful application of resources is essential. The global approach is not going to solve anything. Our leadership is not required by the world. I have no confidence the PM going to APEC to make an announcement will achieve anything useful whatsoever.

  2. Simon Bridges says Auckland Transport’s proposed speed limit reduction is ‘stupid’
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2019/10/simon-bridges-says-auckland-transport-s-proposed-speed-limit-reduction-is-stupid.html

“A blanket speed reduction is stupid. Aucklanders already know they are suffering from congestion and an inability to get around, whether that’s dropping the kids at sports or school, or getting to work on time,” he told Newshub.”

      • They have many submissions saying no to the proposal. I read in our newspaper there are many submittors not happy with the Zero Carbon Bill but Shaw seems to be taking more notice of Forest and Bird and Green peace than he is of farmers, their representatives or the general public just over the climate scam.

No wonder there is small voter turn outs. The elected supposed representatives are seemingly pressing on regardless of what those who are paying desire.

  3. ‘Drip-feed’ retirement scheme proposed to stop Kiwis outliving their savings
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/money/2019/10/drip-feed-retirement-scheme-proposed-to-stop-kiwis-outliving-their-savings.html

“”Many people we’ve spoken to in our research for the review say they’re worried they’ll run out of money in retirement,” said Interim Retirement Commissioner Peter Cordzt.

“An annuity scheme like the KiwiSpend product suggested… may provide members with the peace of mind of a guaranteed income stream”.

So some retirees will spend the lot because they can’t manage their own money. Amazing they have managed to get through life on their own.

    • “”[Police] need to back off these young boys and slow down and catch them down the track, not right here in the middle of a city and residential area. Look what’s happened.”
There was “the odd boy racer” in the area, but police were not chasing them, Francis said.
“The damage [the driver] did – a death and serious injuries – could have been avoided if the police kept off his tail.”

What a load of bullocks – what needs to happen is that these drivers need to be sentenced to jail for a decent term – that might stop the next one.

    • Paula may be spot on when she cites one instance this year & two the previous year but what of the future if the Catholic mafia return as government? The same party that supports the worship of something that doesn’t exist would happily reintroduce the gallows for a teenager partaking of a joint.

Why are National determined to alienate those who don’t do religious, moralising group-think?

  4. Can Jacinda Ardern’s star dust weather domestic storms?
    https://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/books/116697719/michelle-duff-can-jacinda-arderns-star-dust-weather-domestic-storms

“But the difference between then and now is that two years post-election there are footholds for attack. Criticism can gain traction. In many ways, this Government has been both ineffective and hypocritical. The Kiwibuild scheme and demotion of Housing Minister Phil Twyford is one example of a clear and damaging policy failure. The #MeToo scandal within the Labour Party has revealed what many of who work in the area of sexual violence already knew, but is no less crushing – misconduct is rife, and the minimising of it, protection of alleged perpetrators, and diminishing of women continues unabated, no matter the organisation and its stated ethos.”

  5. Time to increase sentences for fleeing from the police.
Add five years to the minimum sentence every year until the offences stop.
Also add ten years if the car was stolen.
And add five years if there is any damage caused.
Advertise the sentences widely, and publise each sentence handed down and the offenders name and photo.

  6. I see Speaker Bercow has stopped another vote on Boris’ “deal”. Bercow is worse than Mallard as a Speaker.
If and when there is a GE in the UK and IF Boris wins he is going to be very busy cleaning up the legal and procedural mess that now controls their Parliament.

  7. ED
    Re todays pic.
I’m not sure of your reason for posting it.
    But my theory is that
30% of people these days are obese
30% are over weight (and on the way to being obese)
    30% are normal
And the rest are either underweight or morbidly obese.

    • Hard hats but no hi-viz
Where’s the health and safety plan, the cones, the signs, the warning that peanut butter can be deadly, that jam causes obesity and dental caries, the staff training in the correct and safe use of sharp implements (called knives in sensible times), the non-slip matting for the kitchen and the food-handling certificates, the working at height certification if the jam is kept on a shelf requiring more that two steps on a ladder, the first aid cabinet, the non-smoking policy, the recycling containers for waste management and the Civil Defence evacuation plan?

And that folks is why your knuckle-dragging tradie charges an extortionate $150 an hour while his varsity educated accountant and lawyer only charges him/her an entirely reasonable $300 an hour.

Some or all could be Hispanic, Cherokee or Kurdish.
Only socialists would form a committee to make a sandwich. No capitalist would do that through choice.
You are making gender, orientation, political and ethnic assumptions based on your white male bias so your opinion is not only worthless, but illegal.

          • Speaking of your arguments, they are the same that Shaun Plunkett shot down the white-guilt “pakeha” he was interviewing early this afternoon about her book “on how colonial NZ was and still is racist on the back of racist pakeha systems”. He gave her a real backhander on only including views of those she sought out to reinforce her thesis. Turns out she had $140k of taxpayer funding to write this book on her made up NZ history. Another white guilt university graduate with a psychology degree.

  8. A commissioner wants to disenfranchise the thousands of voters who cast their vote for a legitimate candidate that did not hide his views.
He wants the representative to resign.
What principles of democracy has Moon got?

The mayor is another authoritarian for supporting this.

    https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/116745099/race-relations-commissioner-calls-for-tauranga-councillor-to-resign

A city divided and they want to etch that in with giving certain people a status over and above, to maintain the divide. 🙁

    • The Councillor, Andrew Hollis as an elected members must swear an oath to abide by the Local Government Act, which includes Treaty obligations.

Must or why are others allowed to use other forms for swearing in.
Why not the “Magna Carta” or some such constitution.
A muslim would use the koran, and many know the abrogation & taqiyya in that.
The original English copy of the Treaty, the Littlewood translation, should more than do the job.

Sometimes I have had to sign something with government overture and conditions, and simply notate just before my signature, “with stress and so under duress”.
It add some long times in the bureaucracy, but they do seem to accept.

If you can try and get them to sign first, if they have to, and get a copy pronto; 🙂

Climate Change on its own is true – the climate has been changing since the beginning of time.

  9. Andrew Little feels ‘dicked around’ by National Party on proposed anti-terror law
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/10/andrew-little-feels-dicked-around-by-national-party-on-proposed-anti-terror-law.html

“Bridges said he’s “not going to let New Zealanders be half-safe when it comes to terrorism”.

He said Little seems to be focusing only on a small number of threats raised by intelligence agencies, and Bridges believes the scope of the Bill needs to be wider.

“There are many unknowns here that we need to safeguard.”

Wow, is it just me or does Andrew Little’s eyes look rather ‘crazed’ in this interview while Simon Bridges in comparison looks in control and fully informed on the topic of NZ’ers safety by ensuring the COL introduce anti-terror laws are up to standard.

  11. The Canadians have voted in Trudeau again. Lost quite a few seats but with the National Democrats and his Liberal party combined they have the needed 170 seats ( not all the counting has finished so they will probably get a few more).
    Canadians must be slow learners.

    • Too many $’s in the troughs, and borrowing money still keeps the economic bite of the wolf away.

…. Canada has little to show for four years of more federal borrowing. Economic growth has slowed, with real GDP per capita rising by an average of just 0.5 per cent in the past four years….
…… most federal spending was dissipated on transfers to people and higher benefits for the public service, which has mastered latching onto tax dollars crossing its desk for its own benefit. ….
…. One enduring legacy of deficit spending is a higher level of debt,

      https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/thebigdebate/2019/10/08/should-the-federal-deficit-be-more-of-a-concern.html

Sounds like there was a nice shower of gifts before the election.
In the mean time life is good, for the Anthropocentric, Social, Political, Humanism, Psychology, Gender-ism and then another section of Alarm-ism, Cooling, Warming, Anthropocentric, Climate Change etc. all wrapped into Science, as if all is facts for the empiricism to be based on.

Then again one does not get voted in, unless the government purse is wide open for the pickings. 🙁

  13. Music icon Nick Cave, too big to be de-platformed or wacked by “cancel culture”. 🙂

…… “Regardless of the virtuous intentions of many woke issues, it is its lack of humility and the paternalistic and doctrinal sureness of its claims that repel me.” …..
…… Cave also lamented how the left has completely abandoned the once sacred and cherished virtue of free speech. ….

….. “Some of us…are of the generation that believed that free speech was a clear-cut and uncontested virtue,
yet within a generation this concept is seen by many as a dog-whistle to the Far Right,
and is rapidly being consigned to the Left’s ever-expanding ideological junk pile,” he said. ….
