    • As long as you have Andrew Little and Stuart Nash in the positions of Justice and Police things won’t change as the criminal knows they want to cut down Prison numbers and go soft on Maori offenders, so I guess the taxpayer gets lumbered with the bill.

  1. It looks like Damien O’conner is not as popular as he thought on the West Coast as locals get set to the Coalition Government’s policy’s.

    https://i.stuff.co.nz/business/117182884/west-coasters-to-gather-in-opposition-to-onesizefitsall-government-policies
The foundation of the Labour movement has had enough of the decisions being made that is hurting the West Coast economy and all the MP for the Coast can come up with is look at the mess the previous Government left us in ,the Greymouth base Hospital and Pike River Mine which we have invested $140 million in.

  2. Another tv channel sucking on the taxpayer, believing they are at the cuttig edge to help change society.

~ABC has been slammed after Q&A panel sparked controversy on Monday night
~The outspoken panel of five feminists called for violence to achieve equality
~Egyptian-American writer Mona Eltahawy said women should kill rapists
~Indigenous writer and activist Nayuka Gorrie said police should be abolished
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7648893/ABC-slammed-Q-panel-feminists-advocate-violence.html

Funded by the taxpayer, believing it is their
“ABC journalist Annabel Crabb said in 2015 that the organisation gives “voices to Australians who otherwise wouldn’t be heard, on topics that are too uncommercial or too remote or too hard to be covered by anyone else, broadcasting into areas from which others have long withdrawn resources”
    but is extended as per
“former ABC Chairman Maurice Newman says, “the ABC bias is absolutely palpable” and “the ABC is now ‘shameless’ and there is no attempt to bring balance to its programs”.
    As gleaned from wiki
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Broadcasting_Corporation

Have not seen TVNZ for years, and probably they are playing “leap frog” with the ABC

The real issue for me, is the spin/meme put on certain topics , and the quiet censorship on other facts.

  3. People slagging off Shane Jones for his Immigration view don’t realize but they have done exactly what Winston Peter’s wanted while he is receiving bad press over his definition case against MSD and two MP’s from the National Party.
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/11/immigration-lawyer-says-shane-jones-language-needs-to-be-stamped-out-immediately.html
But a lot of people that have voted MZ First in the past will forget the threats they made about never voting for Winston and his Party again because this is the exact policy they want National and Act to put up, but knowing they won’t are encouraged to go back on their threat to get what they want. As the old saying goes once bitten twice shy so will this be the slogan that will persuade them never to trust Winston or NZ First again.

    • I’d like to think you are right but we have already seen the stupidity of people jumping on the jones bandwagon without using simple common sense and realising he doesn’t give a stuff, he’s just poking the “bear” that will get a few voters back on board.

      • I defend the right for Jones to say this.
Never have supported Peters, figuring the potential he did have 3 decades ago, was severely flawed. , nor the bombastic ‘trougher’ Jones. Nor NZ1st, even though they in part may have some possible ideas. (that is to me)

Just use some of the points they bring up, but far too often all the others go and fully support the CoL on so many points, with a supposed “but” and “out”, that is “tweedle dee”.

Maybe there are better managers, but withstand these political pressures? yeah nahhh!, and so the ratchet to socialism continues.

There is no other party, and many of the current opposition rationalize and seem to inherently set themselves with an “out” if they gain power.

I do give some credit to Bill English policies, and at the end did not carry the day.
Now society seems to have moved on, and seems set to become like the African anti-colonists collectivism, multiculturalism of such vibrancy and sustainability that seems to be deeply imbibed on by the many of the political parties.
Certainly the brain washing has been given full ahead through the institutions.
There may reside a majority in the “silent tory” “trumper”, but no party big party seems to betting on this, or consistently stating what they will change.
Sure I know Simon is against the UN migration Pact, but I am still left with a doubt,
I know media bias, like in my above post, and the African socialism of sustainability and vibrancy seems to be in the ascendancy, so difficult to counter, as media closes down on some facts, and enhances other nebula and trivia.

Any parts of using Peters or Jones arguments, I may use in part, is to try and get people to think on, more just what the policies do and the consequences, where other parties could take a stand.

So people are taking in by Peters and ilk, but the gap they lever open, is not even supported or in policy are in that direction. by any other party unless setting other caveats, and “outs”.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/117196533/tyres-shot-helicopter-search-after-fleeing-man-threatens-police-rams-cars

So, what they are saying, is that often the police make a bad situation very much worse. Seems about right to me, especially as my confidence in the police is at such a low ebb following their disgraceful behaviour in recent months.

  6. This “colonialist” concept has been used back through the decades, and yet NZ is now in full flight, having captured the institutions of academia, education, judiciary, and media, so it is now fully flooded into the community.
It is socialism, also using collectivization memes that is really being pushed using the victim-hood of being colonized.

In Africa, socialism was presented as an anti-colonial and anti-imperialist ideology while capitalism was perceived as the ideology of the oppressor, the colonizer, and of profit.
Africans strongly believe in socialism because they think that socialism is compatible with African culture since African culture is a
    collectivist culture.
African culture values the group over the individual.
It values the concept of sharing, solidarity, and altruism.
Of course, all these moral virtues are well-intended, but they play no substantial role in the improvement of the living standard of people.
What improves the living standard of people is the ability to retain private property, to voluntarily exchange with one another what we own in order to create capital.

    https://mises.org/wire/africas-socialism-keeping-it-poor

NZ wants to follow a proven system of a cultural enriched collective successful African country, with a good well distribution of resources.

So makes profit a bad word, belief in inequality, so redistribution is necessary.

    • Shabby Eaqub.

He would be confused by a shoe lace.
Jeepers it is one lace but two ends and I have to join them together, but they are already one piece?
      How can this be?

the other Indian ‘economist’ is full of shit as well – Ganesh Nana.
They are a waste of space. Nana is a lying weasel; as is Shabby Eaqub

..BERL executive director Dr Ganesh Nana has spoken out against claims from the National Party there is a “hole” in Labour’s fiscal plan.
Labour commissioned BERL to do an independent audit of its fiscal plan, which National campaign manager and finance spokesman Steven Joyce claimed had an $11.7 billion “hole”…

Of course Tall Man will be along soon to say that I should not speak the truth about Indians just as the people of Rotherham were not supposed to speak up about the rapey pricks from the sub continent as it could be wacist !!
That is why the child rapists and groomers got away with it for so long.
      Suppression of truth.

For economy entertainment and info try Cameron Baigrie

      • The criminals of Rotherham were Pakistani but hey, never let the truth fuck up your fantasy.

Both the economists you seem to despise are New Zealand born and I am fairly certain their politics are more due to their age and education rather than race but hey, you may be right and all Indians are secret labour party members.

Another factor to force into your limited brain is the fact that “economics” is not a science and “opinion” is often substituted as fact.

All I’d like to know is how you figured out these two were Indian…..

    • as Merkel has been voted in again and again.

Same in Sweden, over the decades, and the opposition being only around 20%

Same in Netherlands, despite some good opposition.

France got Macron, a follow on socialist Hollande.

So many countries, deeply drinking the collective globalist, socialist Koolaid fpr Utopia, as in Zimbabwe, etc, Africa, Venezuela,

Though optimistic points made about the opposition, that even stands firmer, it never gets the clean majority, 50+%
So what does that say of those good citizens? Still following the ‘rosy tinted glasses” of so many socialist memes.

Even Brexit ended up being bogged down for 3 years, and may still be hamstringed.

Trump was wise enough to see the gap, figure the election system and prioritized correctly.
Full ahead, and now having incumbency, and any negative media “reflected back” to be a plus 🙂 and appears to be holding to his course.

Sure he is going to make some major mistakes, and he seems to be able to use “flexibility prerogatives” to weave around some problems.
I do not see Trump is perfect, but he has opened up another line of thought, and fight for the free speech, free expression, and ideas.
Sort of “come & get me, if you can, but watch out” 🙂

A policy of “Make America Great Again”, such as the “wall” “migration” and to seem to appear to put more of its own citizens first, in a race to increase GDP, to head off increasing debt.
Whether it can be done, and more importantly, help people see another way, and act on it, remains to be seen.

    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/police-launch-stratregy-reduce-m-ori-re-offending-25-per-cent

“A lot of our staff will be referring our youth offenders through to our panels and look at working with them in a totally different way.

“The second part of that is how the police then deliver a service to make a difference, other than seeing arrest as our first option, looking at how we could do things differently by working with our Māori providers and looking at how we change their behaviours and turn their lives around.”

Part of the strategy looks at how police can eliminate individual and systemic bias within the organisation.

“Speaking on TVNZ 1’s Breakfast today Ms Davidson said the party’s “mending the safety net” policy during the 2017 general election, which aimed for an increase in all core benefits by 20 per cent, has not been done but “remains an absolute priority”.

“People lining up outside Work and Income offices makes it clear – people simply don’t have enough, and that needs to change,” Ms Davidson said.

  12. Had to switch back to evil Google Chrome to make this comment.

Once again using Brave Browser, YSB is inaccessible. Can’t uptick, can’t comment (“Post Comment” button doesn’t appear after typing in comment box), can’t reply to any comments.

The whack-a-mole game of fixing up trivial/cosmetic issues always seems to create bigger accessibility issues.

Wondering if this is why commenting volumes are dropping off?

    • I know what you are saying.
I refuse to use Chrome as Google is evil in my mind.
I’m on Firefox, it was very popular, but is now only 10% of the browser market.
So that means that website developers optimise their site and software for Chrome, and then don’t have time to check that they work on other sites.

And I use DuckDuckGo as my search engine. (another stupid name)

      0

      0

    • I got the same.
      Just tested
HP Probook. Win 10. Latest Chrome and Brave.
      Brave would not respond.
was working on this PC last night and it was fine.
No log out, no turn on/off . Just hibernate mode.

      So
      to fix
      History > Clear browsing data.
Mine does not clear logins, [you can select] but does go back to ‘All time’
After that, was logged in; had to logout, log back in, then it worked

Maybe the issue someone else was saying about having to log in every time.

My Brave browser on HP Probook Win 7 is behaving strangely.
Last 2 days it wont bring up ability to ‘clear browsing data’.
This is after I did a full Windows update for the first time in 6 months.
With Windows 7 you can control that; not so with Win 10.

Win 7 was bringing in so much crap with updates 3 years ago and causing problems I turned off auto updates and do my self every few months.
Win 7 ‘support’ ends in 2 months but given it is a mature product it should not need any updates with a separate Norton anti virus (Microsoft took 20 years to get their one to sort of work)

Brave is still weak for searches as it does not have the history and caching of data that Chrome has built up over 20 years.

      0

      0

    • Interesting. I have the same problem, but with Brave, Chrome, Edge and DuckDuckGo on Android. When I bypass my Norton Core all browsers and devices work, but behind that device YSB has stopped working for me. It looks as if there is a hidden, second input in the html that gets blocked behind the device. Or maybe just me being shit at reading through the mass of source.

Bottom line, all browsers work outside my home network. None work within it for YSB.

      0

    • Thank you DN15, Pascal and howtis for help and observations.

Can’t even get to the Account page and unfortunately, I’m trying to minimise how much data I give Google so am not prepared to go back to that (other than to make this comment). It’s weird I’ve been using Brave for months now and other than the being randomly logged out it has worked fine on YSB.

I’ll be coming here to read the quality debate but have been censored into silence by the gremlins. Tried the suggested fixes – no joy.

Parting shot – WTF National re the Zero Carbon Act. I’d rather vote for a urethra scrape than those fucking idiots.

      • No worries DP.
I enjoy your comments and their content.

Don’t worry too much about the Google thing.
You are being tracked in so many ways this is only one of them.
Brave did go a bit odd a few days ago.
As I say my Brave on the Win 7 PC has been very weird.

I still use Chrome about a third of the time.
I’m just about to watch some Youtube and want to project onto the TV via chromecast.
So, chrome it is.Brave not an option there.

however when I read Daily mail to keep abreast of Brexit and upcoming election Chrome does not like my adblocker so does not let me in to DM unless i close the blocker.
Brave uses far far less resources.

Its a game of leap frog.
        Just dont get a stiffy!!

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/11/anne-tolley-told-husband-sister-about-winston-peters-superannuation-overpayments.html

Institutions are the biggest gossip mills. Having been a politician for decades Peters would be aware of that and should not have mis-completed his superannuation application form. He also had something like 7 years to change his partner status with an annual declaration sent to his address. The question needs to be asked if the man is cognisant and capable of being a taxpayer funded politician or whether his time has come to stand aside due to a lack of brain clarity and obvious confusion.

No major government like Libya or Ukraine has been overthrown and the world ticks on.

Let us remember that he is the one person who has actively resisted the overseas manipulation of ‘legalised’ gun theft using our own taxpayers money.

the traitorous national shitlickers were happy when he was distracted by reporters before the gun vote earlier in the year.
National ganged up with the filthy media scum and the other parties to see that he did make it.

National are gangsters- with the vatican patch .

      • “Vote Act, keep ardern. That’s the simple fact”

That depends. If ACT is polling before the election at over 1% it could make sense to vote ACT. If ACT is polling under 0.8% it would be a wasted vote.

        • Chuck I’d love to see a National government with support from Act but unless there is a fucking miracle it won’t happen.

Now I may be different than some of the rabid haters on here but I do see a difference between National and the coalition in both policies and delivery of those policies.

I often think that those rabid Simon haters are just labour drones taking the piss.

      • It doesn’t matter a damn that a vote for ACT will keep Ardern in power. National don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of forming a government and, even if they did, they would just roll on with Ardern’s Marxist policies – so what the fuck anyway?

Bridges and his people are nothing more than traitors. Gutless spineless traitors.

        • National are not a party that anyone self describing as a fiscal conservative & a small government social liberal could stomach endorsing with their vote.

In the short time since John Key’s resignation they have been hijacked, root & branch, by spendthrift Godnutters.

Key kept a lid on it, as you would expect with him being a Christ Killer and all.

The other big issue is they show no intention of reversing the terrible laws imposed by the Ardern regime, other than punching down on the lowest paid workers, the arseholes.

Key knew how to appeal to the common man and won massive support from the sorts of blue collar workers who traditionally voted Labour.

Simon is a smug little Christian prick who only cares about his stuck up cliques.

          • Precisely, Nasska. A vote for ACT may be wasted, but a vote for National is a vote for Labour dressed in blue drag. How people can toss their conscience after voting for National is beyond me. They are flip flopping liars, going for woke policies and big government. What is to like about them?

Vote for National if you want Labour dressed in blue.

You couldn’t slip a cigarette paper between them on most policy. Both follow big government, big spending policies. National have abandoned the farmers & watered down our society with low grade immigrants. Labour want to kill industry & swamp us with lower grade refugees.

And it goes on. National want a theocracy. Labour & the Greens worship Ghaia. If there are differences they are rats & mice in the big order of things.

If you think National is labour lite and you prefer communism light then vote for Act or ardern as either vote will get her back and possibly with the watermelons. If that sounds good to you then you go for it.

          • And if they do not keep the Commissioner happy where they are in 2025(?), they will have levels imposed on them which if the Greens are in Government will mean it will happen for sure with very high levels.

2050 is only the magically target to be so called “Carbon Free”. Even the EU have backed down on their target of that date. Germany is backing down because they realise it is costing billions for no gain and now they are in or close to recession they will probably slowly back further away from the nonsense.

  21. Thinking of moving to Texas anyone?

Texas voters approve state income tax ban, most other constitutional amendments

“Today’s passage of prop 4 is a victory for taxpayers across the Lone Star State,” he said. “I am grateful to Representative Jeff Leach for his bold leadership on this issue, and for the overwhelming majority of Texans who voted to ensure that our great state will always be free of a state income tax. This ban on such a disastrous tax will keep our economy prosperous, protect taxpayers, and ensure that Texas remains the best state to live, work, and raise a family.”

  22. Labour MPs yell ‘out of order’ as National probes Police Commissioner on gun buyback
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/11/labour-mps-yell-out-of-order-as-national-probes-police-commissioner-on-gun-buyback.html

“Hudson pushed back against Bush’s claim that the buyback would be a success, because there “will have been ample opportunity for good, honest people to bring their firearms in and surrender them”.

Hudson asked the Police Commissioner if he was saying that the vast majority of people handing their guns are good, law-abiding New Zealanders.

“The attitude you’re displaying today… is you’re more than happy to criminalise thousands of otherwise law-abiding New Zealanders because the Government got the buyback scheme wrong and they didn’t listen to advice.”

The police commissioner is a pompous arse.

    • Earlier this evening I received this from a contact up North. It seems the police are losing track of the guns handed in so far:

“just had a call from “Eddie” in the police buyback scheme. When was I going to hand in two of my E cats? I have had 8 E cats. 2 of them turned into acceptable 22s. I handed in 5 of them in August at my house when 5 people turned up in 2 cars. 2 armed uniformed policemen, an assessor (civilian), a typist, and another I assume police person. They assessed, recorded and took away 5 rifles. I was paid for them a few days later. I handed in my AR 15 last week at a dealer.
Eddie knew I had handed in 5 in August but asked when I was going to hand in two of the same items they took in August. He knew I had handed in my AR15.
I gave Eddie a moderately polite reply. He will “look into” it and I shouldn’t hear from them again.
So, two things. Looks like they are checking (as indeed they should) on rifles recorded against endorsed owners. That’s OK and we expected it and is why we all handed in our Es.

What is not OK is that this is the outfit that proposes to run a registration scheme for anything up to 2 million firearms. Dream on.”

  24. nasska Perhaps you could help us out here.

Is it Nationals policy to either:

But the CoL would have them strike for three months then put them on the dole after their jobs disappeared when their employer went bust.

  25. Police did not expect patched gang members to front up to collections but were hopeful they would listen and do the right thing, Clement said.

But at the end of the day, police could not compel them to give up their unlawful guns and could only create an environment to hand over firearms under an amnesty, he said.
    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/117242736/police-meet-with-gang-leaders-to-try-and-convince-them-to-surrender-guns-during-amnesty?cid=facebook.post&fbclid=IwAR0X0oBTJVl6zfJEvrUs6zNzp0gLxMmO2Dr5Q00Xy1oFQWnqL4Eds-KaGB4

BUT, they can compel law-abiding citizens to hand their guns in with the threats of large fines and gaol.
Can they not see the hypocrisy and duplicity with which they treat their funders.

Like Arden they are fucking awful.
Why would a law-abiding citizen help these guys when they want their help?

    • It is not just the gang members who may be reluctant to hand in their recently prohibited firearms as this letter to all MPs demonstrates. The police and government are alienating a whole swathe of their most natural supporters with this outrageously anti democratic behaviour. I look forward to seeing the results of the police confidence survey though I have a pretty good idea what they will show not that the government or police will care, their response will be more repression. The following from a contact in Canterbury:

As I wrote in an email to every MP in the country, last Sunday:

      “Gidday Member of Parliament

Yesterday, I spent the day manning a Tent at the Ashburton A&P Show – listening to people, and informing them about the implications of the Arms Legislation Bill. I spoke to many mainly rural men and women – many of whom are not Firearms Licence Holders.

Don’t Shoot the Messenger – An Observation:

It was a real eye-opener to me – how many good, law-abiding, “salt of the earth” people out there appear to have no intention of handing in all of their Prohibited Weapons, in the Gun Buyback. They are not doing so because they want / intend to be lawbreakers. Far from it. Instead, they will hang on to them – in the fervent and they believe legitimate belief that common sense will prevail with the next government – and the law prohibiting them will be revoked. This is especially true – for old, historical, collectible and “heirloom” firearms. Once these priceless and irreplaceable firearms are destroyed – they are gone forever. This is also true for many sporting semi-auto’s, as well (some of which have been “in the family” for many decades).

It is an absolute travesty of justice, and the democratic process – knee-jerk reactions by the NZ Parliament of the day have put these good people, in this position.

It appears the New Zealand Parliament and its MP’s have been misled, in the policy advice they have been given.

I sense these people are resolute – and nothing the government or Police can say – will convince them to do otherwise. The government have been unreasonable –and they will reap the consequences.

I urge the New Zealand Government – to start being reasonable.

      Many Thanks.

      Kind Regards,”

  27. Hi Ed

It seems that this blog is infested with a couple of absolute fuckwits who think that childish epithets and abusive slurs are the way to behave.

If that is the way that this blog wants to run then fine but after just one day I am tired of the absolute crap that one poster in particular seems to want to spout.

Free speech is fine but it would seem that his rabid and ramblings gain favour here. If that is the case then fine but I am tired of the stupidity of these idiots and if there is no sanction for rabid abuse then maybe you need to review your motivation for running a blog.

Now I am more than capable of delivering abuse when required but seriously, who has the time in their day for such activity.

Now you’ve run into somebody who’s better than you at talking shit and who doesn’t cower when you go into bluster mode and you go crying to Ed to change a blog that has run quite successfully and happily for a long time?

Why don’t you actually counter his bullshit? Or call him childish names in return? Or, hey, ignore him?

Instead – big government steps in, goes crying to mommy and asks for a ban. Do you understand free, disagreeable, offensive speech? Call it out if it bothers you, otherwise maybe find your safe spot and get Auntie Bridges and Uncle Jacinda to pat you to sleep?
