  1. Finally found the cause of our login problem. A 503 error is a hosting error
Am in the process of changing host and a few other changes. Finally, I can see a better pathway forward. Thank you for your preseverance with these problems.

          • Nope, too much personal information on there. If you’re trying to determine size:

            * A professional blog, on the tools and technologies I’m working with and for learning I share with the technical communities I belong to
            * A few gaming related sites for friends I game with
            * A personal photography website for Mama Bear
            * A professional website for her job
            * A few friends who wanted a site hosted, some with heavy traffic, some with low traffic

None of them are ferociously big, although the sport / event signup site a friend uses sees a bit of traffic.

  2. Have been having loading issues with many pages.
It seems that lots of old links that I have used for a long time keep coming up page not found etc.
    so,
I am slowly doing a new search via the search bar and going to the site. (new passway) and then bookmarking this new link and deleting the old bookmark. Seems to be working
Somewhere in the world someone has decided to upgrade the system and forgot to tell us all. Oh and I deleted the cache as well before I started.

  3. Boris Johnson quits drinking until Brexit deal done
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/11/boris-johnson-quits-drinking-until-brexit-deal-done.html

“British Prime Minister Boris Johnson claims he has given up drinking until after Brexit is sorted.

Johnson’s apparent “do or dry” pledge follows his failure to keep his “do or die” promise to deliver Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union by October 31.

He was seen sipping whisky during a distillery visit in Scotland on Thursday, casting doubt on his commitment to the alcohol ban.”

Sounds like the msm eves-dropping and making up stories. Fake news?!

        • I had read a year or so ago about the German pharmaceutical company ( Temler Werk) who was selling a product called Pervitin –today we would call it crystal meth. but I did not realise the German army and airforce basically spent the war on it. Watched a History Channel program about it last night and it also spent quite a bit of time on Hitler’s drug issues and also how Goering was an addict ( opium).
When I first read about Pervitin it said it did not become illegal (after the war it was a prescription drug) to sell until the 70s and the German armed forces (West and East) were still using it until the late 60s.

  4. Jack wakes up with a horrible hangover and a throbbing black eye. The first thing he sees is a single rose on the side table and a note from his wife: “Dear, breakfast is made. I’ve gone shopping to make you your favourite dinner tonight. I love you!”
He stumbles to the kitchen and, sure enough, there’s breakfast. “Joe,” he says to his son, “what happened last night?”
“You came home soused and got that black eye tripping over a chair.”
“So, why the rose, breakfast, and sweet note from your mother?”
“Oh, that. Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take off your clothes, you screamed, ‘Leave me alone, I’m married!’”

    • Well he did not lie. 🙂

New South Wales Law Reform Commission recommended that if a physical relationship eventuated after a person was dishonest about themselves, sexual assault (rape) charges should apply.

The proposal contains a clause in regards to liars and people who ‘fraudulently induce’ others into sexual activity.

‘We propose that the law should provide that a person who is fraudulently induced to participate in sexual activity does not, in law, consent to sexual activity,’ the Commission said in its review of consent laws.

Sydney University criminologist Andrew Dyer told 10 Daily the proposed changes were profound.

‘Telling someone you love them when you don’t, pretending to be rich and well connected when you are not, claiming educational achievements that you don’t possess, denying a complex sexual history – say, with same sex partners – could all conceivably count as fraudulently obtaining sexual consent,’ he said.

The reforms would cover conversations on dating apps such as Tinder as well as real-life encounters.

They would apply to people of all genders and would forcing people to be careful about what they say about themselves to prospective lovers.

‘If the boast that you have made induces somebody to participate in sexual activity with you, then you are liable to spend a long time in jail,’ Mr Dyer said.

    • Well mate, I do believe in climate change and it has been happening since I was born and probably since our world was old enough to get a climate.

What I do not accept is that mankind has greatly impacted that change but I also think we need to clean our shit up.

I have taken on board what Patrick Moore has said and I am unlocking carbon as much as I can to benefit the plant world and thus secure our future.

      • If you had listened to Magic earlier in the week you would have heard David Seymour state that he believes that both methane and carbon generated by humans etc are having an impact on out global climate.

He also indicated that he also accepted that NZ needs a ETS so that we do not end up being a pariah throughout the world, he just does not like some of the points in the current legislation. So that is 100% support in our parliament for some form of “climate” legislation so that would make voting tricky for many next year.

Subsequent refugees have not been assimilated as successfully but their children may be a better bet if we can stifle the extremism that plagues the UK and Oz.

To do that successfully we need to get ardern to shut the fuck up.

  9. https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/11/paula-bennett-attacks-ridiculous-comment-by-meka-whaitiri-over-fairness-for-beneficiaries.html

Of course beneficiaries should be treated “fairly” and in the genuine cases of need I believe they are. It is the ones that seek to “sucker” the system that need a reality check and from my experience they are probably now the majority.

As I explained to a client recently, the problem is that in this PC world all clients have to be treated exactly the same whether they are fraudsters or genuine. That approach robs us all of the opportunity to “profile” and act with caution so we must treat all the same which does lead , possibly, to some instances of “genuine” people in need being treated with a degree of excess caution which can lead to frustration.

I believe the same approach is being taken with regard to the uplifting of children from at risk situations. I believe they are rightly acting on the side of caution and should be encouraged and supported to resist the pushback coming from some fucking idiots within the maori and left community.

    ——————————————————————–

Carbon Dioxide Co2 Enrichment in an Indoor Garden

    C02 and the Carbon Cycle

Having an indoor garden will keep a family in fruits and vegetables all year round, even being able to grow things out of season. However, with indoor climates and lighting being different than the outdoors, much of what the Earth manufactures naturally must be recreated for the indoor garden environment.

One of the most important of these is carbon dioxide, a gas with no odor or color that forms when we exhale or when carbon-based fuel is burned. Carbon, present in all organic compounds goes in a cycle of constant reproduction – a cycle we are very much a part of. At the center of each plant, there is the carbon that has been obtained by absorption from the environment.

Every living thing is carbon based, and for vegetation to grow and reach its maximum capacity, a large amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) is needed. It should be monitored closely as not to increase the levels by too much. Ideally, when CO2 is increased in an indoor environment, the temperature should also be warmer.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/rural/2019/11/richard-loe-s-blunt-message-to-city-dwellers-over-zero-carbon-bill.html

“I don’t mind dropping my stock numbers by 10 percent if people living in the cities do their part towards it.”

Loe said cutting down on importing food products which are also produced locally was one thing which could be done.

“For example pork products, in excess of 60 percent of pork products New Zealanders consume come from overseas, so stop doing that.”

    0

    0

    • ……”in excess of 60 percent of pork products New Zealanders consume come from overseas”…..

I agree with his sentiments but the pig industry was a victim of global free trade. Most of what we import comes from Canada where pork production is a natural sideline to huge grain farms.

That & our idiot “animals are people” protesters who want to close down primary industries.

      * Stop using modern communication technology – give up their mobile phones
      * Remove plastics and any other oil derived products from their lives
      * Stop using a personal, petrol or electric vehicle and rely on bicycles or public transport alone

I’d buy more of what they’re trying to sell. But right now, they’re all talky-talky and no doey-doey. (Did I get that right? Who said that again? I hope it wasn’t that petard Peters)

  15. Mama Bear is making one of my favourite Chinese pork dishes tonight. I don’t know exactly what goes into it or how it gets prepared, but there’s soy, sugar, chili and all sorts of goodness that makes this rich, unctuous sauce. Then you can have these chunks of softly softly cooked pork that is salty, sweet and spicy. Put that on rice and pour some sauce over. I’m drooling just thinking about it.

    0

    0

    • Better enjoy your pork products while you can. The Chinese are scouring the world and buying up pork at an astounding rate having slaughtered hundreds of millions of pigs because of the swine fever outbreak. We had better hope it doesn’t reach here because if it gets into the wild herd it will be uncontrollable.
I wonder what the chances are that it could jump species to humans?

      0

      • Ask your pig hunter friends.
Aussie has a problem with trichinosis that infests all their wild pigs.

  16. Side thought, we went to the Strawberry Fair market in Mt Eden today. It’s a smallish community event, lots of second hand stuff for sale – mostly junk and curious but you can get some nice preserves, expensive strawberries and the odd nice second hand book.

While Mama Bear fights with the other ladies over a rare porcelain goodymegafter that will sit on a shelf somewhere gathering dust and darkness, I usually wander around the book section, looking for something interesting to read.

But I think this is the last year we’ll go.

The rudeness of the people going to the event has finally eclipsed the joy we get from it. There’s a collection of 6 0 – 80 year old biddies who decided to storm the venue 10 minutes before opening. The Chinese ladies who push their way through the crowds to try and get to the front (As if it will make a difference). And while trying to read the spines of the books today I had an elderly gentleman shove me aside so he could read them despite there being plenty of room. And the strange Middle Eastern guy who collected the weirdest pile of random paraphernalia like some berobed magpie – like a standing lamp, a carboard box, a broken tennis racket, some saucers and string. And if anybody walked within a foot of it he’d scurry over “Mine mine mine!” If I didn’t know any better I’d have expected ET to be looking out from behind his caftan, getting ready to phone home.

But it’s like they’ve all gone into some kind of feeding frenzy, and rather than actually just walking about and enjoying the market. There was this frenetic fear of missing out on things that … yeah. It didn’t feel like a market normally does.

Reckon next year this time we’ll try to be in the Kimbolton area. The market there with the hydrangeas is usually a pretty good one.

“Doctor, the hormones you’ve been giving me have really helped, but I’m afraid that you’re giving me too much. I’ve started growing hair in places that I’ve never grown hair before.”

      • After listening again to David Seymour on Magic supporting some form of legislative control plus an ETS scheme I think they are “all” on the same page but… I listened again to Simon Bridges on Magic and he clearly stated that the changes that they would put in place would enshrine an “economic consideration” that would have prevented the “captain’s call” on Oil & Gas exploration.

David Seymour clearly stated that he “accepted” that methane and carbon dioxide produced by “civilisation” have an impact so need to be controlled. I disagree.

I do agree with him that we have to do something even if it is just window dressing as the rest of the world will use “doing nothing” against us in trade deals.

        • Yes David Seymour said he did believe in man made climate change.
          I don’t.
China just signed an upgrade to our FTA before this heinous bill was passed, so it did not worry our biggest trading partner.

        • It is starting to head towards a “None of the above” or deliberateky spoiled vote now. Maybe draw a dick all over the ballot paper. (Still need to listen to what he said, keeping in mind 0.0000000001% is still an impact)

      • You better get your thinking straight. Party Voting for the Nats won’t get them in. It is simply not going to happen. The only way in for them is to have a partner. The only partner that makes any sense is ACT.

    • The pigs are completely out of control in this country. A bunch of corrupt gutless power trippers. It is well past time people pulled their heads out of their arse and stopped the boot licking. The filth are conducting a campaign of terror against citizens according to their politics. While covering up serious crimes by the party faithful.

This is a police state under an authoritarian regime. It’s not coming, it’s here now.

In spite of the propaganda, violent crime is at the lowest level in decades and police work is not in the top 100 of dangerous occupations. But boot lickers promote the lies as justification of giving these cowards more weapons and power. The pigs are scum.

    • Meanwhile……in a far off land….the bullshit is shoveled back into the wheelbarrow and carted off to some other gullible village.

ICEBERG THE SIZE OF LONDON CALVES OFF ANTARCTICA

An iceberg the size of greater London (1,636 km2) has just snapped off the Amery ice shelf in east Antarctica. And while alarmists will be blindly clamoring to link the event to global warming, the facts tell an entirely different story.

    • “Here is a link if you feel like a laugh”

If you truly believe the deaths of two people and the loss of 100 homes is a laughing matter then I pity you.

    • “reports of dead fish and birds, along with the rats, are not consistent with the way 1080 is understood to work”.

Oh really. This could get interesting…

        • Possums, rats & stoats throughout the country will be overjoyed as the feeble-minded Greens can the use of 1080 in a knee-jerk reaction.

Pity about the native birds & the NZ bush but they never stood a chance against crackpots spreading 1080 alarmism.

          • All those dead birds piling up on the beach are not feeling too protected. Do stoats even eat 1080 pellets? They will probably die anyway now the birds and rats are all dead.

The movement demanding tons of 1080 be spread across NZ are zealots trying to revert the country back to Pre-European times. Like all ideological zealots, they care nothing for collateral damage in pursuit of their cause.

            • If the stoats won’t take the bait they’ll die of secondary poisoning.

For what it’s worth I don’t like 1080 & I’ve lost too many good dogs to brodifacoum poisoning to be much of a fan of that either.

But nothing else works. We can either use managed poisoning or abandon the bush & native wildlife to possums, their TB & rats. There isn’t a third option.

              • I am not convinced 1080 works that well against target species and it is often used for other reasons. Mostly because it kills deer etc.

How many possums were around back when they were worth good money? Bounties work.
