  1. I emailed Shane Reti about Maori names for Polytechs holding them back and a few other topics

    It got a reply already

    “Dear xxxx

This is really helpful and thank you.

As Simon said to camera this morning, we are scrapping fees free and we have proposed some replacement options.

Polytechnic naming is one of those things that we think local people should make local decisions on, however, they must of course take into account the business and marketing implications domestically but also to our important international market.

You have also highlighted one of our policy discussion items, funding polytechnics for student outcomes which of course aligns with the job vacancy market.

So, a lot of agreement here and thank you for reaching out and for your support.@

  2. Adrian Orr says the economy will grow next year

Instead, Orr’s statement was positive about the effects of the Government’s current round of fiscal stimulus feeding through into the economy next year, lifting growth, saying “stronger fiscal stimulus” would see growth lift during 2020.

What is this “fiscal stimulus” the speaks of.
Is it higher pay for beneficiaries means growth in bottle stores?

      • Yes, but at least you are having a better day than the driver of that car who will be hiding from the inevitable knock on the door.

I drove through that intersection yesterday and was busy wondering what the road workers were doing? I do hope they are putting in a roundabout as there is plenty of room.

The members of the Labour led coalition are so inept they would have to get former woodwork teacher Gerry Brownlee to saw the ladder in half for them.

  4. I see the dear leader is considering a new propaganda agency to replace TVNZ and RNZ

This will be separate from the Minisrty of Truth they are establishing prior to the election. Little has declared open war on freedom of expression and vowed to fight it.

  5. I see Venice got a high tide during a storm. As it has for centuries.

But now its climate change. Along with seasons and other natural processes. According to media activists.

    • “As it has for centuries. …. now its climate change” to gain power, control and money 🙁
Do the journalists ever do any research?
Are there too many tourists, etc. walking around, and their increasing ‘portlyness’ pushing Venice down? 🙂

…. city is facing some major challenges (including financial difficulties, pollution, an excessive number of tourists and problems caused by cruise ships sailing close to the buildings). …..
Subsidence, the gradual lowering of the surface of Venice, has led to the seasonal Acqua alta (“high water”) when much of the city’s surface is occasionally covered at high tide. …..
…. In 1604, to defray the cost of flood relief, Venice introduced what could be considered the first example of a “stamp tax” …….
…… During the 20th century, when many artesian wells were sunk into the periphery of the lagoon to draw water for local industry, Venice began to subside. It was realized that extraction of water from the aquifer was the cause. The sinking has slowed markedly since artesian wells were banned in the 1960s. …….
…… However, the city is still threatened by more frequent low-level floods—the Acqua alta, that rise to a height of several centimetres over its quays ….
      …… Studies indicate that the city continues sinking at a relatively slow rate of 1–2 mm per annum;

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venice#Subsidence

The foundations are centuries old now, and down into clay that is permanently wet.
A full moon, and so natural spring tides, that if tied in with any other event like, a lot of rain recently?

  6. Govt to consider replacing RNZ, TVNZ with new public broadcaster

    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/403232/govt-to-consider-replacing-rnz-tvnz-with-new-public-broadcaster

“The coalition government has been grappling with what to do with public broadcasting in New Zealand, and now there’s a greater sense of urgency with the media industry under real financial threat.

The advisory group concluded the status quo was “unsustainable” and “collectively recommended the government agree to disestablish TVNZ and RNZ and to establish a new public media entity”.

  7. “How did your doctors appointment go today” Joe asked his wife.
“Great honey” she said. “First the doctor asked me to take off all my clothes”.
    “What” Joe said?
Then the doctor said what a nice body I had”
    “NO” joe said
“Then he complemented me on my nice legs”
Joe is alarmed but says nothing.
“He then said what nice breasts I had”.
Joe is steaming now. “Did he tell you what a fat ass you have” he said.
“No honey. He didn’t mention your name once!”

  8. Yesterday was the fourth anniversary of the massacre at the Bataclan Theatre in Paris carried out by right win….oops sorry, by members of a peaceful religion. Many of the details of that horrendous event were suppressed and even today most people have no idea just how blood chillingly ghastly the attack was.

The French are so concerned with racism, they’re letting Muslims get away with murder.

A day after, at the stadium, Muslims booed the moment of silence and we barely heard about it in the press. I saw Muslims celebrating in the street during the attack. I saw it with my own eyes. In real time! How did they know what was going on? There must have been coordination.

Now want to start a streaming service to compete with Netflix using tax payer funds to set it up then charge the British taxpayer consumer for the service.
        Double dipping.

The scum suckers are trying to end free TV licence fees for over 75s – to pay the extreme salaries of their public servant ‘stars’.

If the BBC has done one ounce of good in the last 30 years please inform me what this solitary deed was?

They even tell you – as woke lefty filth- that the likes of Monty Python would not get a look in today.

  10. I see that having made a hash of the gun ban and buy back because they rushed the ill thought out legislation through without consulting people who actually know something about firearms and relied on the police who are NOT the experts they claim to be nasty Nash has now decided yet another lot of regulations are necessary to cover omissions they made in the second round of laws currently before the select committee. These new regulations will ban, among other things, a number of priceless antique firearms including some of the famous broom handle Mausers (beloved of Sir Winston Churchill) because they take a detachable shoulder stock. These highly prized collectors items are worth tens of thousands of dollars each and have, to my knowledge, never been used in a single crime in New Zealand. Suddenly, though most of them are a hundred years old or so, they are “especially dangerous” because they are semi automatic.
The new regulations would also “Enable pump-action firearms to be prohibited by Order-in-Council”

  11. March for the Future of Provincial New Zealand
    Wellington March to Parliament

    https://www.50shadesofgreen.co.nz/save-our-farms-protest-walk/

WHEN: 14 November, 2019 TIME: 11 AM – Civic Square. Expect to be at Parliament 1 PM.
Welcome speeches at Civic Square, 65 Victoria St, Te Aro, Wellington (see map under the registration form).

OUR PURPOSE: To demonstrate and communicate that we will not be ridden over roughshod by a political agenda which shows no regard for genuine community wellbeing or genuine democratic consultation. The rural sector is being excluded from critical policy making decisions at the same time that anti farming lobbyists are being ushered in. We are calling the Government out. We deserve a level playing field and a fair go.

A FAIR GO. That’s all NZ Farming communities are asking for.

Will Cindy be on the steps of Parliament to hear our rural folk when they arrive en masse to protest COL agricultural policies?

          http://www.stuff.co.nz/taranaki-daily-news/news/9570754/MP-Tractor-protest-well-worth-it

“Taranaki-King Country MP Shane Ardern famously gunned the tractor called Myrtle up Parliament’s steps in a 2003 protest against the Labour Government’s proposed flatulence tax on ruminants. It was later described as the single most effective protest in scuttling what was deemed an idiotic proposal.”

“It was a lie and it still is a lie. [The proposed tax] was nothing to do with environmental problems. It was about getting extra revenue from the productive sector and it was about wealth redistribution.

“So I joined Federated Farmers’ protest. We won – we beat the Government and we still don’t have an emissions trading tax.”

“Ardern has often invoked her upbringing in Morrinsville, saying it had given her an appreciation of the issues facing farmers and horticulturists in New Zealand.

Morrinsville farmer and rally organiser Lloyd Downing said Ardern’s claim was “bollocks.”

Her father was a policeman. She doesn’t know anything about cows. And her grandfather in my opinion would be turning over in his grave because he had a drag line in diggers and drained most the country out there in the swamps and plains to Te Aroha.”

  12. I read the address by Professor Michael Kelly ( highlighted by simpleton1 yesterday) last night. Fantastic writing and logic.
Professor Renwick, the media AGW pawn should forced to read it –he might learn something and understand why his ranting with the Greta crowd, that climate action is now needed is the ultimate in stupidity.

  13. Here is a letter from the father of one of the victims of the Islamist scum at Bataclan to his daughter. Published this morning as featured comment on Going Postal. The main article is also absolutely outstanding too:
    https://going-postal.com/2019/11/how-puffins-are-made/

Four years without you. That’s four years I’ve been forced to survive without you, have been unable to speak to you, unable to see you, kiss you, hug you. No one could doubt how much I miss you. If these Islamist bastards had not murdered you alongside 129 others, who knows, you might be married, you could have given me grandchildren. Of all this I will remember forever and, contrary to what some claim, I will never forgive them.

I have an immeasurable hatred for the bastards who perpetrated these crimes, as well as for their accomplices, who have ruled France for 50 years. Do you know, 3 days ago, they dared! They dared to march in the streets of Paris against “Islamophobia”! Within 3 days of the commemoration of the murders they dared to commit. They have defiled the streets of Paris, shouting “Allahu Akbar”, draped in our national flag. Being as bold as a rotten plank, they told reporters that we mustn’t judge them, that they were not terrorists. They may be right, not all Muslims are terrorists, but the overwhelming majority of terrorists are Muslims. To believe them, I would have had to have seen them march against Islamist terrorism at the time of the attacks (knowing their love for demonstrations). But, of course, they did not. A deafening silence. Messrs Bellatar, Muhammad, Mélenchon, Rodriguez, Martinez, Jadot, Hamon, Plenel, Mesdemoiselles Diallo, Obono, Autain, de Haas, and the others, where were YOU on the 13/11/2015? It doesn’t seem to me you heard the news.

So I shall make you a proposal. Since you say you are not terrorists, come march with us on March 15, 2020, starting in front of the Bataclan, and heading to the Great Mosque of Paris, past the cafe terraces where so many young people were murdered by the terrorists. March against Islamist attacks, and for the victims of Islamist terrorism. Let’s ignore that the cancer that marched against Islamophobia are the same people that set our cities on fire during the victory of Algeria this summer at the CAN [Football Cup of African Nations]. They are the same people who cheered in the cities and prisons during the attack that cost you your life, my daughter. I have the deepest disgust for this whole fringe of society, they make me sick.

So yes, I became an Islamophobe, and I say it loud and clear. I am not a racist, nor a xenophobe, but yes, I am an Islamophobe, and how could it be otherwise? Don’t forget that it’s because of them that I’ve lived in hell for four years, and that my family was shattered. Since you departed, we no longer even celebrate the end of year holidays at home. We haven’t the heart, in fact, we dread them. What man worthy of the name would not have become an Islamophobe if he had to endure what I suffer daily? Ask these people who have lost their only two daughters what they think, ask my friend Albert Chennouf what he thinks? So, the moralisers, the self-righteous, you’ve no idea what I’ve suffered, and if you do not understand my position, especially concerning Islam, then I don’t care.

Islamists are entirely to blame. In France, since 2012, they have been responsible for 263 deaths and a thousand wounded. And they are astonished that the majority of French have had enough of them! They are responsible for the worst atrocities, the worst provocations, and they taunt everyone with their street prayers, under the eyes of our patronising police. They wail about pork in canteens, Christmas mangers, pools reserved for their wives, and the “elegant” Burkini. They want to impose their way of life and now they shed fake tears as usual. They are incapable of taking responsiblity for their acts. Truly, they disgust me.

They do not feel kindly toward us and our home, and yes Belattar Muhammad and your whole clique of nauseating Islamists, this IS our home. And even though you hate that fact, we’re not going anywhere! You will not chase us away, because we will fight to make you respect OUR LAWS, and not yours! Shari’a will not happen. If you are not happy in our country, then I understand, and I would even say that suits me just fine. There are 58 Islamist countries waiting for you. Don’t hang around, we won’t miss you, and it would ease the pressure on our welfare state.

I suspect that on November 13, all the politicians will come and lay a wreath in memory of the attacks, before going to have a drink and to eat petits fours in well-heated lounges. And then, fear not, they’ll all be there to remember November 13, 2015. It’s not much effort, we’ll talk about it once a year, we’ll see our friends, and then we’ll move on. Meanwhile, the jihadists, some of whom are directly linked to the same attacks, will come back. 450,000 migrants are brought in every year to replace the French people, little by little. We are putting in place completely useless measures allegedly to fight against immigration. But none of them work. Why?

I was already shocked when Hollande laid a wreath at the Republic Square for the victims of November 13th. That very afternoon he went on to the Great Mosque of Paris. And 15 days after the attacks, he handed the Legion d’Honneur [France’s highest honour] to the Prince of Saudi Arabia, a country that largely financed the attacks. I wonder if he also handed a Legion d’Honneur to the CEO of Lagfarge Cement, who financed ISIS with the blessing of the sinister Laurent Fabius?

You see my daughter, you died for nothing, except to satisfy the stupidity and submission of our incompetent leaders. We cannot even say that you died for France. This I will NEVER forget, and I’ll make them remember it until my death.

So ultimately, I won’t go to their masquerade [the commemoration]. I don’t want to get involved in that garbage. I’m afraid I’d feel dirtied by it. I will spare them my presence, and instead I will pass this sad anniversary with you. Only with you. I will unplug my phone to avoid being disturbed, I will not turn on the radio, nor the TV, and will think only of you.

While waiting, my daughter, know that every day I think of you. Every day, I cry silently, and I try to fight, so that it can never happen again. Unfortunately, the French are blind and do not want to see the danger of Islam, which is, quite simply, a death cult.

    Tender kisses,

    Patrick Jardin

    • A very sad letter, Alice, as the authorities dare not name the problem, nor note history, study the problem, and truly address the problems.
Koran should be read in chronological order (google it), noting the change and power of ‘abrogations’ that command muslims.
Hadith and Sira that show Mohammad’s commands, guidance, deeds & actions.

The original disease is islamophrenia:- a filling of the mind with Islamic tenets and beliefs. that is too often acted on, to the major detriment of nearby people.

This contagion seems to cause an out break of islamophobia that is simply an awareness and knowledge of the problem by out spoken people.

      • ……”do they publish the religion of every offender in these cases?”…..

Probably if it’s known. It would be considered to be in the public interest.

        Because:

        …….”What about atheists?”……

Atheism isn’t a religion. It’s a word used to describe the absence of religious belief. Further we don’t have non believers trying to shove their Skyfairy’s moral principles down our throats on a daily basis. Instance the “Finally, euthanasia law passes 69 to 51” posts on DPF’s blog today.

The control freaks deserve to be judged by the standards they wish to impose on others.

The inquiry into how National obtained information about the budget should take a matter of minutes. What in all hell do we pay the departmental managers for if we have to have separate inquiries by independent people who don’t even recognise when they have a conflict of interest?

When we have a spectacularly incompetent government we need the public service to dazzle us with professionalism, not try to foot it with the idiots in parliament by sinking to new levels of stupid.

  16. I encourage everyone to listen to Leighton Smith’s latest podcast (No 42). It is about climate change but specifically about the passing of the Zero Carbon Bill last week.
He has a discussion with Alwyn Poole, Debra Alexander and Terry Dunleavy (sp?).
One of the references he brings up at the start as a counter to Greta Thunberg is this article by a 16 yr UK kid.

    https://quillette.com/2019/04/25/teenage-climate-change-protestors-have-no-idea-what-theyre-protesting/

“As a teenager, I fully understand the mindset of young people. We’re predisposed to leap before we look. This is borne out by neuroscience. Our prefrontal cortices, which regulate (among other things) decision-making, planning, self-awareness and inhibition, do not fully develop until we are in our mid-20s. Until then, we have difficulty analyzing the long-term consequences of our actions. The upshot is that many young people tend toward reckless behaviour ……”

Also towards the end Terry ( a long time National Party member) who is totally disillusioned with National supporting the Zero Carbon Bill, hints that from what he is hearing Bridges may have strong armed ( my words) many in the Caucus to support the Bill. Also Debra who says she is a true blue lady in terms of support for National when asked should Bridges go –says nothing for 30-40 seconds then says “if what I hear happened, then yes ”
So it looks like a case of watch this space.

Putting aside the disgraceful appeals to emotion and moral outrage – it sounds like an unfortunate accident caused by excessive partying and rough sex.

And he cost the police a whole lot of time and energy.
he should have called the police as soon as it happened.
I’d like to see him castrated, physically.

  20. ‘Ngati-redneck-ery’: Shane Jones bites back at jeering 50 Shades of Green marchers
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/11/ngati-redneck-ery-shane-jones-bites-back-at-jeering-50-shades-of-green-marchers.html

“But look, I’m Matua Shane Jones – if you’re going to shout over me you’re never going to win, that’s my message to anyone coming to Parliament.”

Jones said it was “grossly unfair” of the protesters to attack the Government, adding, “If they think that I’m a punching bag on behalf of my leader, they’re sadly mistaken.”

Shane can dish it out but can’t take criticism. They doesn’t like it up’em! 😊

    • Shane can dish it out but gets on his high horse when he’s on the receiving end – with demands that opposition groups be nice and don’t point to policy problems.

    • I heard, call me matua, Shane Jones on air later this afternoon. I suggest he has underestimated the depth of feeling behind the protest. My reading is the protestors are not the usual rent a protest rabble but serious and respected farmers from communities with valid concerns.

The East Coast has ample evidence Pines and their downstream consequences can be economically difficult for others in the community.

Minister Jones would be well advised to take careful heed in my view. The loss of good pastoral land producing food and income to pine trees, despite the statistics flashed up by Minister O’Connor, is serious.

    • Jones is a buffoon. I thought he was Minister for the Regions ( or whatever it is called) Does not realise rural folk come from the regions.
Also I thought NZF got quite a bit of support from the rural areas last elections —well calling them rednecks will turn them all off Mr Jones , which is really good for us because I hope it ensures NZF are well below 5% and the country can forget about the idiots.

    • Yet people still refuse to accept the truth about how ingrained anti male hatred is. It is solidly enshrined in legislation here and overseas. Labour has introduced a raft of anti male laws with hundreds of convictions.

If you are accused by a woman you are fucked and innocence is no defense.

I’ve told so many guys this but they never believe it until it happens to them or a close friend or relative.

Numerous women have confided in me that they have lied to the pigs to punish men, when they are upset.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/11/china-pneumonic-plague-outbreak-two-diagnosed-with-black-death.html

“How the infected couple got to Beijing hospital has not been made clear, and people on social media fear the pair used public transport – potentially infecting hundreds of others.

In October, Madagascar was hit with a rapidly spreading outbreak of the plague. This led Chinese authorities to say they would strengthen quarantine measures to the stop plague entering the country, reports New York Times.

Six people in China have died from the plague since 2014, according to the country’s health commission.”

  22. Former PM Helen Clark’s bid to make the internet safer and more democratic

Former Prime Minister Helen Clark’s think tank is on a global mission to make the internet a safer place, but its head says New Zealand still hasn’t done enough to fix its own patchy social media laws after the Christchurch shootings.

The Helen Clark Foundation has released its latest report, laying out what it’s calling the “Christchurch Principles” – a set of 10 broad recommendations for what Governments and social media companies should take into account when coming up with regulations and policies. … The principles include fairly wide-ranging concepts such “a duty to protect” by states and a “responsibility to respect” by businesses. But the foundation’s executive director, Kathy Errington, says it’s simply trying to find ways to make the internet safer and more democratic, while trying to fix its problems.

Good grief – so Helen Clark wants to control what we read and say on the internet now?

    • Nasska:

      Yesterday Scott at Kiwiblog said:

I hope this bill doesn’t pass and that it dies in the house. I also pray for David Seymour and that God would improve him or remove him. He does no good with these radical pieces of legislation.

I’m curious to know what this means. Does God “improve” someone by converting them from Godless to God-fearing, and if that fails, then “remove” that person by an act of God – lightning bolt/snowball/choose your natural weapon?

In any event, Scott will be most upset that God hasn’t heeded his calls, so you’d best pop over and say an encouraging word or two!

      0

      0

      • Scott has already misjudged my candour & fears for the mental equilibrium of the Godaddled on the “Finally, euthanasia law passes 69 to 51” thread today Nostra. (See comment no. 2591132).

I expect a plague of locusts or the goldfish pond to turn to blood very soon! 🙂

        • Yes, Scott has been busy on that thread, Nasska.

He says: “Also the kiwiblog community has got worse and worse. A big bunch of techy nihilists. With a few exceptions but very few. God help us all”. There you have it. The Kiwiblog community doesn’t measure up to Scott’s standards.

Still, I guess it’s a marginal improvement from yesterday when he pronounced that “we are heading into a new age of pre-Christian paganism”. We live in dangerous times, I tell you!

…….”The rapture is an eschatological concept of certain Christians, particularly within branches of American evangelicalism, consisting of an end time event when all Christian believers who are alive, along with the resurrected dead believers, will rise “in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air”.”……

Ask yourself Brother Kea……..is your soul ready to meet God? Considering the stated venue have you a seat belt & airsickness pills at hand? 🙂

  27. Reading the comments of imbeciles on YSB makes me wonder about the suitability of juries.

Clearly the media and pigs are all too happy to appeal to emotion over facts and reason. Just so long as the alleged victim is a woman and the accused a man.

Low information dimwits seem to consider proper legal process redundant, provided the prosecution and media create a sufficiently emotive narrative

    • TVNZ sure are using the Grace Milane trial as click bait. Where are the equivalent news items about the Indian doctor killing the 17 year old? Not such salacious details.

      0

      • The media are telling people what to think in support of their usual man hating bias.

The claims of the prosecution are uncritically taken as certain truth. But the defense will be reported with lashings of fake outrage.

And oxygen thieves are buying it hook line and sinker.

      • Because he is Indian
        Not a white fulla.

White fullas are evil, dont you know.
Every one else gets a pass.

The Indian went into a 16 year old girls room in her own home and murdered her- allegedly.
This was because she had evidence of all his other creepiness and he was on the verge of being fired because he was/is a creep soliciting young girls (under 18) for sex.

The situation was such that her mother committed suicide.
That family lost a mother and daughter in a matter of months because of that scum suckers actions- allegedly.

If there are degrees of murder, this Indian Scum Skantha is worse than the Millane death.
It was clearly intentional murder to cover up other scabby behaviour.

But he is a black murderer (allegedly) and that is not as bad as a white male manslaughter (allegedly) .

      • But Grace Millane’s death made the SLG cry.
Whoever that was in Dunedin or somewhere – didn’t.

But then the international media didn’t turn out for a 17yr old kiwi girl, did they, so there was no need for a blubbering public apology to the parents of the deceased.

      • Stop boot licking. Its sickening.

Why don’t you say that about other government servants? Why only defend those corrupt gutless filth?

And don’t feed me shit about them putting themselves in harm’s way to protect us. It is not in the top 100 most dangerous jobs. More people have died in single work incidents than the entire history of NZ policing.

Farming and fishing etc are way way way more dangerous. And even craven boot lickers need food more than speeding tickets and their guns confiscated.

You just don’t get how things have changed with our police. Don’t trust them.

Yes there are good cops. But overall they are now dirty and highly political. They are infiltrating every aspect of our lives as those at the top lust for power and control.

    • More of a “Trevor” record?
Are they not the heirs of Fred Dagg? 🙂

With New Zealand in crisis during the 1970s, the very sensible Mr Dagg addressed a wide range of issues on national television.
He was elegantly dressed and was often accompanied by a dog.
Fred and The Old Sheila had seven sons, all called Trevor.
Very good boys they were too.
