  2. Gun City owner David Tipple warns MPs of ‘vigilantism’ caused by gun law changes
    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/gun-city-owner-david-tipple-warns-mps-vigilantism-caused-law-changes?auto=6103949358001

Mr Tipple said he thought the Government had created “a whole lot more people who have less confidence in them”.

“By reducing trust in Government, we are dividing the nation and we are driving them away from the unity we need here.”

    • David Tipple is right about dividing the nation and falling, like a stone, confidence in the police especially the senior muppets in charge, the judiciary and the government in general, but I see no evidence of a rise in vigilante justice. Perhaps that is because I live a sheltered life.

  3. Come on Nash.
Just get all of the gangs guns, or as many as you can, and leave the rest of us alone.
I am not a gun owner, most legal gun owners are just hunters or farmers or gun club members who shoot for a hobby.
This is part of the New Zealand way of life.
Raid the gangs and get their guns, as they are hardly going to hand them in voluntarily.
I am sick of this attack on our way of life by a crazy government due to one lone attack by an Australian gunman.

      • Amazing, and they’d build railines all over NZ in a few months!
        We really are a joke
It took nine months to build to piddly roundabouts on Cameron road, Tauranga and ruin the rest of the with a cycle lane that is a death trap and that no one uses.

    • What a lose, lose, lose situation.
Get people to use trains but close a station for four years!
The cure is worse than than the disease.

Why would you bus people to Newmarket when most will want to be going to the city.
For the western line Newmarket is a folly.

It is about 7-10 minutes walk from the Mt Eden station to the top of Queen Street.
Surely an extra bus service or 2 to the CBD would make sense.

Or, for 4 years build a temporary station 150 metres away using the Horse and Trap car park.
Then a one year ‘partial’ closure of Mt Eden Rd. that is an arterial route with high bus use.

There are smarter alternatives so with all the disruption mentioned in this article the honest conclusion is that this whole process- just like a tram down Dominion Rd- is meant to destroy movement of people, not enhance it.

  4. NZ is not this bad, but in the CoL socialist world, Sweden is held up as the star to follow.

… Last year, more than 300 shootings resulted in 45 deaths and 135 injuries in Sweden. …. [much more this year]
Malmö ……… Some 29 percent of the people living in the city reported to have been victims of crimes against an individual. ………
……. They invited a dozen gang leaders – nine turned up – along for a sit-down chat with police, relatives of crime victims and legal prosecutors.
    And there was pizza.
Again, needless to say, no-one was arrested. [no arrests for the crimes at the link’s start]

Dubbed “Operation Snowflake” by one wag on social media, the Malmö Chief of Police Stefan Sentéus declared the “call-in” exercise a success to Expressen newspaper, claiming the message they were trying to convey to the violent criminals they invited had hit its target.

“It was really appreciated,” said the chief, who admitted there have been 28 further explosions in Malmö in 2019.

For the country that considers itself a humanitarian superpower, this latest descent into “Absurdistan” is the result of a nation that finds it hard to be frank about what is really going on, after Sweden’s immigration surge in 2015 which saw 163,000 asylum seekers arrive in the country of 10 million inhabitants.

…… unemployed young men under 30 years of age, with immigrant backgrounds, living in deprived neighbourhoods, who have failed to fully integrate into the Swedish way of life.

So rather than admit the failure of its immigration and integration policies and the negative impact on their globally-celebrated humanitarian credentials, the Swedes try to spin it with yet another ill-conceived liberal approach of embracing criminals, in the hope that they’ll start feeling all warm and fuzzy and stop killing one another along with innocent bystanders.

One of the experts taking part in the exercise told the gang leaders, as if they were unaware:
“You are the ones most at risk of being injured or killed.”

The reaction on social media suggests the soft-touch meeting did not go down well with those expecting protection from their police force, instead of platitudes.

“First they abuse and rob us, and then we taxpayers pay for their damn pizza!” was typical of the responses.

In a wonderfully practical approach, one other social media user suggested the police missed a golden opportunity to simply lock up the thugs while they had them all gathered in the same place.
That would have at least saved the cost of the pizza.

    https://www.rt.com/op-ed/473446-sweden-police-gangs-pizza/

NZ socialists follow those ideas as we have already note in regard to guns & gangs.

It would seem that the ‘special task force’ favours pizza, and coffee and doughnut treats for later.

    • ……”They invited a dozen gang leaders – nine turned up – along for a sit-down chat”…..

Wouldn’t work in NZ because the gang leaders the public see are NCOs at best. The real leaders hold university & professional qualifications. The police were slow off the mark & let addictive meth become widely used in NZ & the huge money attracted a new breed of criminal.

The smelly, half fried gang member with a sawn off shotty in the wardrobe is a pawn in the game.

      0

      0

      • Bill “Broken Windows” Bratton warned the government and police more than twenty years ago that the gang menace in this country was serious and that they had five years to get on top of problem. They did nothing and now, as you say, meth and the huge money the drug business attracts means the situation is out of control. All this is not helped by the fact that confidence in the police especially in the buffoons running the show, is plummeting. Alienating the most law abiding sector of society, licenced firearm owners, for mistakes the police themselves made is simply making matters even worse.

      • I agree with you, in part, the Chinese, now the South Americans, connecting to opportunistic “professionals”
Would the NZ policing on meths been so successful, that drove the price so high, that many other overseas gangs saw the opportunity of good returns.
The gangs can use colour, culture, ethnicity, that fuels a brigade of social justice warriors in academia, judiciary, media, education, health, etc.. so any “professional” can see how to use them as the cover and a few timely full well placed paper bags.
Pawns are useful, as cover, protection, bait & switch, and there is always another.

Illegal guns are remaining in the hands of organised crime as gang leaders refuse to give up their weapons.

Police have met with more than 50 gang leaders in an effort to get them to comply with firearm law changes before an amnesty ends.

But it’s proving to be fruitless, as the patched members remain “very reluctant”, Police Commissioner Mike Bush told the Justice Select Committee on Thursday.

“We have identified over 100 influential gang leaders and spoken to about half of them about how they are managing this and what their approach and attitude toward that [amnesty] is.”

After the committee meeting, Bush said communication lines with senior patched gang members had revealed they had a different approach to law abiding members of the public, in relation to the return of guns.

Police Commissioner Mike Bush and Deputy Commissioner Mike Clement told the Justice Select Committee 115 key gang members had been identified and police had met with 53, to talk about guns.
“They were very reluctant to be part of this.”

He did not think many patched gang members had handed in their guns.
        https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/117242736/police-meet-with-gang-leaders-to-try-and-convince-them-to-surrender-guns-during-amnesty

Does not work here either, but some of the social justice warriors become knighted, like Sir Kim Workman.

          • Proscribe the gangs. Call a meeting of “senior patched gang members” arrest the lot of them and charge them with being members of a proscribed organization, 20 years in jail, no parole, in a special hard regime prison to be built for the purpose on Stewart Island. We could call the prison Guantanamo South.

You really are a bit stupid to commit cries if you have such a unique tattoo that can never be hidden.
    How can you go anywhere?
Second there should be an offense for doing such facial tattoos as it really sentences that person to a life of crime for the rest of their life, unless they become an air steward on air New Zealand or a Kindergarten teacher or a volunteer at your local op shop

AOC has recently voiced what this Impeachment is about. “It’s not about what has happened in the past but what might happen in the future if we don’t do this, Trump might win the 2020 election.”

    • Gaseous maltruthed dead bodies, entangled and covered over, as the “journalists” firemen first fired then hosed down the books in 1951 “Fahrenheit 451” Ray Bradbury

      November 14, 2019…..
…. Not too long ago, ambitious journalists, local and national, prided themselves on gathering information, and their editors prided themselves on publishing it.
About 50 or so years ago, however, progressives started to seize control of universities, J-schools included, and newsrooms shifted leftwards with each new graduating class.
By 2016, even major newsrooms had become firehouses. Their goal was not to report information but to manage it. …..
…… “Clinton.” The network firemen had to erase the word lest their audience see it or hear it during an election year, and that they succeeded in doing until Robach unwittingly revealed it. Indeed, “unwitting” is about the only way truth sneaks out of a newsroom today. …..

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave,
when first we practice to deceive!” (Sir Walter Scott, 1808).

And the hidden mines, so many of them now, that have created a minefield, carefully covered over by the deceivers, that producers of these networks
ABC, MSNBC, New York Times, CNN, CBS, FOX, can not keep track of.
With all their big name “firemen,” “journalists” it became so difficult to not step on a dead gaseous malformed body, and how they are all inter-tangled.

  7. I’ve started reading “The Departure” (2011) by Neil Asher. The writing is a bit stilted, but the first 10 pages of my first Polity novel is an eerily accurate feeling prediction of what life under a socialist world government would be like. Part of me just wants to put it down so I can ignore it, rather than further terrify myself.

  8. The filth in this country are out of control and need to be stomped on – hard.

For years they have acted as a powerful tax payer funded lobby group continually demanding more power and control over their subjects (us). Their union also acts as an authoritarian lobby group , even after O’connor left to become a Labour politician.

They are highly political and are nothing more than Arderns goon squad. She has set up a roving police hit squad that even many on the left are decrying.

They are deeply corrupt and have conspired with politicians to hide serious crimes committed by the party faithful.

The pigs are way more of a threat to us than gangs and criminals.

    • That predator’s previous was pretty dammed serious!
In 2013, when he was just 16, he was sentenced to four years in jail for a violent sexual assault, his first offence.

And it seems nothing has changed.
So what will the judge say in the 2020 February sentencing?

      [2013] A psychiatrist reported …..
On one hand he was a “very introverted, quiet and polite young man who was described by others as kind, helpful, passive and caring”, yet other sources found him a “disregulated, impulsive and aggressive young man” with limited or no empathy.

The judge said courts had recognised that young people had lapses of judgment, but he labelled Jones’ offending as being “deliberate, violent and disgusting”.

He took into account reports outlining difficulties faced by Jones, his youth, and his guilty plea, then sentenced him to four years and one month imprisonment.

  9. The media are getting all jizzied up over this dodgy bugger Behrouz Boochani
For a start he associates with Golriz Ghahraman.
    No surprises for a criminal.

    The media prints this crap:-
…He then paid a people-smuggler $5000 to take him to Australia. His boat was one of two found by authorities after being lost at sea for a week. Boochani was arrested and taken to the Manus Island Processing Centre….

So he was in Indonesia -the most populous Moozlem country in the world- but he wanted to leave and enter Australia illegally.
Does anyone NOT see a problem with this?

He wanted to pay criminals to get him illegally into another country where he was not welcome – and queue jump- by criminal means.

He is still associating with criminals
…Boochani is able to travel to New Zealand because of help from UN refugee agency UNHCR, which organised his departure and helped him get a visa, sponsored by Amnesty International….

What a piece of lying shit and all those that associate with this criminal.

    Advance Australia Fair:-
..We’ll toil with hearts and hands
To make this Commonwealth of ours
    renowned of all the lands
For those who’ve come across the seas
    We’ve boundless plains to share…

…but being a criminal no longer qualifies you.

Speaking of swimming pools, WTF is the matter with society. Wellington woman was outraged that she was asked to stop polluting the swimming pool by dripping biohazard tit milk and baby puke into water used by other human beings.

What is it with fucking breastfeeding mothers and their staggering sense of entitlement – I mean just about any woman with a vagina can have a baby, it’s not a special achievement, you aren’t doing anything selfless or heroic (quite the opposite if you contemplate the carbon footprint of having a baby) why do these vapid bitches think they should be excused all reasonable behaviour?

But group think, where people submit themselves to group acceptance, is always bad. It is the source of the madness we see around us and all wars.

  12. All you woke man hating imbeciles uncritically sucking up the prosecution’s claims in the Millane witch hunt – will be wrapped to know that a Bill was just past meaning lying rape accusers cant be questioned about their slutty behavior and lies, unless the judge says so.

But the accused’s history can be used against them.

Another leap forward in dispensing with innocent until proven guilty – just as long as the accuser is a woman and the accused a man.

Most rape cases before the court are false and should never have seen a courtroom. This new law is an attempt to get more innocent men convicted.

Fact is most real rape victims don’t blab. I know plenty and none when to the cops. But convicting the innocent won’t remedy that. Nor will dispensing with proper legal process.

Our legal system and method is okay-ish if used correctly.

People are not left behind, they are left in limbo.

        • Interesting points Bn, and a way to add over-stress to life,

The subtle changing and social engineering.
Art was the thin edge of the wedge, to open up and work society.
Art can not be measured, or is very difficult to, and then it is close to fashion changes..
After ww2 Joseph Beuys is considered one of the most important “cultural” artists
“Every man is an artist; on his way to a free formation of the social organism.”
“Expanded Idea of Art” and a so-called that the goal of an artist
should not be the production of traditional works of art, but the formation of the one and only important work, that is, society.
It doesn’t require traditional qualifications for craftsmanship,
as everybody who in any way influences the form of social life
or at least everybody could be — an artist.
This continues on into social creating social projects.
That leads onto rituals a form of worship, as after all some gain an income in this.

So there is no real knowledge, so the meritocracy system is pushed out, and easy for the elite to surf that wave. and work it to effect into sociological systems. They certainly do not know what they are doing, the effects, or consequences.
So now one can see why measures are considered superfluous. …..

….. This ends up so anything society actually needs, is totally stuffed up, but under a control.

…..This leads onto attacking the work ethic.
A part of destroying the “work ethic”. ….

          • A very good summary S1

I was listening to a chap recently espousing a study done by 2 scientists on 1600 individuals from birth. (Ted Talk.)

They determined 98% of the subjects from birth exhibited a creative level intellect of a genius.
By age 10 we reduce that to 30% of the population.
By age 15 down to 13% of the population.
From the ages 20 -30 it is reduced to only 2% of the population.

The revelation was, the cause was not aging but that it was educated out of us. Turned off.

We as adults live in a convergent thinking world. Deduction, logic, reason, yes , no etc.
For the first seven years of our lives we live in a divergent thinking world. Where make believe is real and hypnotic states are common.
That is when society forces the child to conform and closes that part of the brain.
In essence the manifesting of endless possibilities is shutdown.

  15. A video to enjoy. Dr Jennifer Morahasy “fact checking” the bleaching and damage to the Barrier Reef. Yes the claims are all BS.
She says she is doing this to help Dr Peter Ridd in his battle. But also she may have picked up on the success of Tony Heller’s videos. I hope many more latch onto the idea of using videos instead of writing papers or critiques of papers etc. to fight the battle against the AGW BS.

  16. ACT wants to cut funding to universities that block free speech
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/11/act-wants-to-cut-funding-to-universities-that-block-free-speech.html

“Instead, he’s drafting a new one which would force tertiary institutions to “take all reasonable steps to protect academic freedom and free speech” or face funding cuts, following a number of events being shut down over claims of health and safety fears.

Our current laws are not bad – I think they could be improved, and that’s what my previous Bill would have done. The most pressing threat is that some people are genuinely concerned about their health and safety obligations as a person conducting a business undertaking, and they are not sure if they can let people speak on their premises. Others are abusing it.”

    • Never thought I’d say it but I’m likely voting ACT. Or maybe that new green party.

I’m a liberal green and always have been.

    • Good idea. It’d need to be carefully worded to avoid too much subjectivity, but I like the principle.

Hit the leftie, socialist authoritarians where it hurts. In the money provided by us rich, capitalist pricks.

‘There must be limits’ to what people can post on social media: Former NZ PM

While Clark says she is aware of the dangers of “heavy-handed regulation,” she is critical of what she calls the current “libertarian” approach to regulation: “There has to be limits, and so you have to look at how those limits will be defined, and then how will those limits be upheld,” she explained.

    • I wonder why she would say that. Take this blog and kiwiblog as an example. I set up YSB,because I was pissed off with the moderation of comments on Kiwiblog. Here at YSB, It is not moderated in any way,. I occasionally look at comments in the back end on the comments page. I have only had cause to delete comments because they didn’t conform to my ideals. Other than that, it’s been self moderating.
If you treat people with respect, not be heavy handed in moderating them, then they will respond likewise. This is a foreign concept to the left. Their default position is one of distrust for which they get ridiculed accordingly

  18. National’s Roads of National Significance
(That’s not really a good name for them)

I have only been there twice but there was a fatal crash on the Napier Express, is this the same bit of road that was down as the next tranche of roads of National Significance?

Ie the ones that Genter and Twyford cancelled in favour of some cans of paint.

    • No, its a nice 4 lane road for most of the way although like all express ways , goes back to a 2 lane road too soon.

    • “While Ardern may see merits in legalisation for health reasons, she is very far from being some sort of pro-drug flag-waving leftie. Essentially the Prime Minister wants to be a citizen like everyone else in this issue, in all the difficulties it poses. The problem is that in the heat of a campaign, that could be politically difficult.”

Boy was he embarrassed when I explained, Possibly the last time he spoke to me, not that I cared.

  19. “I do not pretend to be able to prove that there is no God. I equally cannot prove that Satan is a fiction. The Christian god may exist; so may the gods of Olympus, or of ancient Egypt, or of Babylon. But no one of these hypotheses is more probable than any other: they lie outside the region of even probable knowledge, and therefore there is no reason to consider any of them.”

    • I suppose we’ll have to wait until next year when Simon Bridges says that he will announce National’s coalition partner strategy well before the election.
He did say there may be a new party. (may be its Vernod Tava’s party or the New Conservatives?)
