    • With all the satellites and science of the 21st century, you may as well read the entrails of a goat to predict the weather more than 24 hours out. At least, that is how useful most websites are from my experience.
Makes me wonder how some people have worked out the temperature and sea levels decades from now – which allows others predict that we can sail a boat to the north pole within a generation!

I do like the Metservice maps, when you scroll across the 3 day forecast, and for precipitation I have found that very accurate if you are planning around sunny weather, AM or PM, at least for the following day. That is about the only tool I have found useful/really reliable.

    • Why bother clicking on the ‘weather’ anyway? It’s just a tracking device to give our esteemed host an idea of where his readers are geographically. Not that I object…. but there are much better ways of checking out the weather in today’s digital world.

  2. A lot of NZer’s are always finding someway to whinge and criticize Simon Bridges and that is not unusual in politics ,David Cunliffee with Andrew Little had the same. But the reply to Chester Burrows yesterday was one of the best as Leader of the National Party and addressed the criticism from MSM the public and the Goverment.
    https://thespinoff.co.nz/politics/26-11-2019/simon-bridges-a-response-to-my-old-mate-chester-borrows-on-crime-and-justice/
Judges and bad law do affect Criminal cases and we need consistency in what happens in the courtroom and outside it because at the moment the criminal gets everything at the expense of the victim so that has to be reversed.

    • Another words you want the judges to do the bidding of politicians. You also clearly want the notion of innocent until proven guilty overturned – because you assume a victim ahead of any hearing into the facts.

Imagine if you will be wrongly accused under such a system. Imagines its YOU

      • Kea could you pull your head out your arse and tell me where I suggest that . I was am still are pisses off about people being raped from someone that worked in the PM’s office and the fate of those from the young Labour Summer camp , I am also discussed about the murder case of Grace and how the Judges refused evidence of eleven other people who also had so that turned sour, but her details were plastered for the world to see. There is travesty of justice and that shouldn’t be except just like this and the Ellis case is one that should be overturned but with your attitude you can’t see past your own nose and really you are better that when you decide to talk commonsense.

        • That concept has been raised over a decade ago, and it still in on simmer.

The catch is the koran has certain phrases backing up its pursuit and control of Jewry and infidel.
Very few seem to want to read the koran, in chronological order, noting the major twist of abrogation verses.
Then one can figure on the Rules of Engagement, as based on Islamic script. 🙁

One can figure that hijrah is a major element in islam, so perhaps that should be talked about as being a positive out come. 🙂
Just a longer stop over in some of those countries in vicinity, like sending their kids to school etc., there, as they do their duty of going on haji.
Possibly could save emissions as they then only need to walkk

      • Yes, I am of mixed minds around just how effective the police are in intercepting the jihadists. Because the media doesn’t make much of the potential threat from Jihadis (compared to climate alarmism) it means the myth of ‘that’s not Islam – only a tiny minority think like that’ etc. can hold out. Even when a terrosist DOES succeed, and are reduced to low casualty tactics- stabbing or driving into crowds. It is worth noting also the complicit enemedia avoids mentioning any cries of ‘Allahuackbar!’.
There are many many near misses for each success. And the efficiency of the security forces paradoxically means the public is less likely to be concerned over what an internal expansion of Islamism means for any pluralist western democracy.
Australia has also stopped attacks before they happened. In the UK there was a creative bunch nabbed at the 11th hour with tickets booked, and explosive liquids bottled, going to take out multiple planes while over the Atlantic. This was why the max size of liquids for carry on luggage was enacted. The potential toll was massive, given the number of flights booked. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_transatlantic_aircraft_plot. They had cameras inside these guys houses and watched them closely, thankfully.
But plenty more where they came from!
The next generation prepares to bite the hand that feeds them.

    • This can not be talked about! if the billion muslims have their way. 🙁

November 2019 JEDDAH: Muslim leaders on Thursday demanded the introduction of an international law to criminalize all acts of Islamophobia. ….

….. called for a global crackdown on individuals or groups responsible for “insulting religions or prophets.”

…… “There are laws against anti-Semitism and racism. So, we request a law against mocking religions.” …..

….. “Islamophobia is a sentiment of excessive fear against Islam that is transformed into acts of intolerance and discriminations against Muslims and even violent crimes against people with Islamic attires.” …..
      .
…. He pointed out that the organization had established the “Voice of Wisdom,” an electronic platform to combat hate speech on social media. …….

part of Ardern’s adhan Christchurch Call?
      .
…. On Islamophobia, Al-Othaimeen said that the behaviors of some Muslims who did not truly represent Islam, had brought prejudice to the surface.
….. When a successful Muslim physician, businessperson or engineer is found anywhere in the world, this person does not only represent himself but Islam in general.
These are the good role models we are honored to introduce to the world,” he added.

[yeah, right,,,, quite a number educated bombing jihadis too]

…. “Any organization would definitely perish if it felt satisfied with what it had achieved. We, in the OIC, (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) are looking forward to achieving more and more.” …

“These issues are of great importance, to be worked on in collaboration not only with governments, but also with people and non-profit organizations, to prove to everyone that Islam is the voice of mercy, moderation and coexistence with Muslims and non-Muslims,” he added.
      https://www.msn.com/en-ae/news/other/oic-chief-demands-international-law-to-criminalize-islamophobia/ar-BBX8P5e

What about the behaviour through 1400 years of history? the commands in the koran? guidance in the hadith and sira? the Pact of Umar?and as guided by “The Reliance of the Traveller”.

Winston Peters attended the extraordinary meeting of the OIC in Turkey..
Was he bought? Will he remain bought? What is he prepared to deliver to the OIC?

The “Christchurch Call” of Ardern’s fits well into the OIC demands, where ever it can get its way, and more than hihab’s frees-speech

  9. Simon Bridges says he would have raised climate change with Donald Trump
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/09/simon-bridges-says-he-would-have-raised-climate-change-with-donald-trump.html

“I would have raised it with Donald Trump,” he told host Mihingarangi Forbes.

“But the reason I have – in your words – ‘the crack at the Prime Minister’ is simple. She’s the one who said it’s our nuclear-free moment. She’s the one seeking to appeal to the woke progressive left around the world. She’s the one who said it is a cop-out, we don’t have the luxury of the cop-out on these issues.

“When she had the chance to raise it with the most important figure in the world, the leader of the free world, the President of the United States – she didn’t.”

Trump is currently in the process of pulling the US out of the landmark 2015 Paris Agreement and has rolled back a number of his predecessor Barack Obama’s efforts to reduce the United States’ emissions.

Earlier this week, when asked if it was important to confront Trump on climate change, Ardern said it might come up but the conversation would not be scripted.”

    • The Paris Accord is a joke, they have already missed their targets.
There are 200 million extra people on earth a year, every year.
China and India promised to try to reduce their emissions starting in 2030.

In what context – a slap on the back and agreement to also pull out of the bullshit agreements that incentivise China to keep on polluting? Or would he have had a go at Trump, expecting him to buy into the bullshit?

  10. Simon Bridges defends Strike Force Raptor war on gangs plan
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/11/simon-bridges-defends-strike-force-raptor-war-on-gangs-plan.html

“The National Party wants New Zealand’s version to have the ability to shut down gang clubhouses, require gang pads to have liquor licenses, and look into members’ finances.

Bridges told The AM Show on Wednesday that “we are losing the war on gangs right now”, but the Australian taskforce had proven to be “remarkably successful”.

“It is harassing and disrupting [gangs] every single day,” he said.

“It will be people with both accounting and forensic expertise through to [people with] the ability to go kick in doors.”

If a gang member punches someone in a bar, “you send this unit in,” Bridges said. They don’t pay a traffic fine, “you send this unit in”.

    13

    • Very similar to the NYPD broken windows policy. It worked for them.

I know a cop in Queensland who works for a gang task force. They really kick arse in that state. Quite a few crims are moving to NSW where the Police are not so tough on them.

      10

      0

      • Bill Bratton, the originator of the Broken Windows policy, visited NZ in the nineties and advised the government and police they had just five years to get on top of the gang problem in this country or it would get out of control. That advice was ignored and so we have the situation today where the police invite gang leaders in for a friendly chat, over a cup of tea and fancy little cakes no doubt, about the gangs reaction to the new firearms laws which they have no intention complying with. And the police express “disappointment.”

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/11/texas-woman-mauled-to-death-by-feral-hogs-in-very-rare-incident.html

“An autopsy confirmed Rollins’ died from “exsanguination [bleeding to death] due to feral hog assault”, Hawthorne announced in a press conference on Monday (local time).

Newshub’s US correspondent Sally Hughes noted the rarity of the “gruesome” incident.

“It’s rare they would do something like that,” Hughes said on The AM Show on Wednesday.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/11/government-proposes-raising-landfill-levy-rate-by-50-in-three-years.html

“Sage said in the past decade, nearly 30 million tonnes of waste has been sent to municipal landfills nationwide, with much of the waste recyclable or able to be composted or reused. Associate Environment Minister Eugenie Sage announced a raft of proposals on Wednesday to tackle “New Zealand’s mounting waste challenges”.

Increasing the cost will just encourage fly tipping, or illegal dumping of rubbish.

      • I took some trees to my local tip in Tauranga and they wanted to charge me.
        So they can get fucked!
They want bins fro this and bins fro that.
People can’t be bothered to sort stuff properly, jut look at the shit they put in the blue glass recycling bins
        Just build more landfills easy.
We have plenty of valleys in new Zealand

      • I don’t trust these council survey
They told me most people wanted to cycle to work
They told me that 83% of people wanted more Maori street names

They also told us they were recycling our waste.
But they were just selling it to China!
        Lying bastards

        15

        0

    • Yes getting rid of those plastic bags (that I loved) has really reduced the rate that landfills are filling up.
As you said above increasing the charges will just make some people use the local roadside.

A better way would be to encourage local recycling companies and tell us how the reclining is used, so that it will encourage us to do it.

The problem is that we are just to small for efficient recycling to be used.
Eg crushing building material, melting cars and fridges.

      9

      0

    • Perhaps a voluntarily filling up of a truck with that fly tipping, recording it all on camera as proof of where it was.
Any hassle and/or charges when taking it to the transfer station, rubbish receiving area, then immediately take it around to those politicians and Councillors homes, and tip out their on their driveway!
Just simply state you do not believe that the rubbish should be encouraged to be placed near your home.

A few times of that will make a major rethink on their part.
      Let them wear the consequences.

      8

      0

    • What will happen, is the extra costs will be buried into the ever increasing rates.

That way the charges at the tip can be kept down, and the staff there will not have to put up with the general public’s complaints.

All in the name of feelz, virtue signalling.

      8

    • Some try to point to the privilege of certain race & ethnics. 🙁

At the Doctors with an overseas tourist, and helping him fill in the many forms.
Interesting was the division of peoples, european, north european, south european.
Africa was also well divided up, and on through Asia,

In conversation I noted this to the Doctor, and he said that the different peoples often have different reactions to certain drugs, dosages, and it also allows for a different evaluation or consideration of the different measures/diagnosis they use,

Trying to hide, or claim other ethnics, may effect one’s health.

I have never come across this so openly, before, or after all, I am most likely in the system since birth.
I think this is quietly practiced, as after all, facts are facts are simply needed to practice good medicine.

A few years ago I accepted this for a precursor of blood tests, for a medical clinical trial by a big pharma company.
I was not totally surprised, that as the results came through, that I was not a suitable candidate as some “peoples” do not benefit. I do not know what I was lacking, or having too much of? 🙂

Though this article does not go into the possible good reasons.
Just hope we do not have blood tests, or DNA tests done to help medical treatment, unless really necessary.
      https://www.huffpost.com/entry/health-care-data_b_1538907
Other times it is used to berate disparities of treatment on “racial” levels.
I certainly notice that some groups often miss their appointments, with out the courtesy of even a notification.

Never know, an Ancestry testing, may make a few unlikely connections, to make wonder just what did great —Grand ma get up to; and how “Bob’s your Uncle”. 🙂

      • beacsue if a person born of Chinese parents in New Zealand called themselves a New Zealander, would you consider yourself and them to be of the same ethnicity?

        3

        • How do you Know you haven’t just described me?
Yes what difference does it make what your parents are.
If you are born here then thats what you are.
It’s only the darkeys who want to be different because there is a monetery advantage to them for being so.

          13

          1

        • What does your ethnicity matter?

Mama Bear was born in China. To Chinese parents. She’s lived in New Zealand for longer than Chloe Swarbrick though. And she holds only a New Zealand passport. She owns property here, her business is here, her family is here and she subscribes to the values that you would probably hold dear as a New Zealander. Except she’s not much for the beach and jandals, but she has other outdoor activities she enjoys. And, much to my disgust, she votes National.

I was born in South Africa. To South African parents. I’ve lived in New Zealand for almost as long as Chloe Swarbrick. I hold only a New Zealand passport. I got married here, twice. I own property here, my family lives here and since the day I first landed here I’ve not been back to South Africa. This is my home. I hold a Kiwi passport. My children were born here and I am a New Zealander.

Why do you think we are of a lesser status than you as New Zealanders? Because of where we were born? I’ve paid more tax than half the fucking country on a person to person basis, I’m a New Zealander.

You don’t need to be White European, strictly Christian, missionary position, meat and three vegetables and nothing else to qualify as a New Zealander. You have to love the country, be willing to work to improve it and subscribe to the general values that New Zealanders hold dear. Let me know what those are when you find out, btw.

              • Be wary of the broad brushes, Alice.

I’m with David Seymour on this one – take somebody who is willing to be a New Zealander, no matter what their religion is. If they want to be Islamic State in New Zealand, they’re not a New Zealander and they can fuck off. But if they’re here for the All Blacks, Tip Top and a sunny Christmas with all our cultural heritage and want to live in a country where their kids have opportunities and they can work hard to get ahead – welcome. No matter what your sky fairy is.

  17. Peter Williams: Anti-vaxxer Taylor Winsterstein’s comments on Samoa are appalling and dangerous
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/11/peter-williams-anti-vaxxer-taylor-winsterstein-s-comments-on-samoa-are-appalling-and-dangerous.html

“Now Taylor Winsterstein has some sort of profile as a WAG – she is the wife of an NRL player named Frank Winterstein, who plays for Penrith and for Samoa, even though he is Australian born and previously played for the Australian sevens team.

But his wife I’m afraid is quite delusional. She is a fervent anti-vaxxer, she has 25,000 followers on Instagram and she has insulted the Samoan nation by calling it Nazi Samoa in a now deleted post on Instagram.

Samoa has a serious, serious issue. The population of the country is only 200,000 and over one percent of them have measles. I reiterate, 32 people have died.

Those pictures on the news again last night were just heartbreaking, poor little kids covered in spots, grieving parents and other adults beside the body of a child who had died of the disease.

How much more suffering, how much more death will it take before these mad people are convinced.”

    • Garbageman, you are very lucky to have missed John “I am an apologist” Campbell’s interviews over the years. He is famous as a supporter of David Bain being freed from prison and some of his lamest work has been interviewing “poor welfare NZ” who only have a tub of marg and 1/2 a bottle of milk in their fridge to feed their 8 kids. As you could see, despite Simon Bridges years of working in the courts prosecuting “bad buggers” and having a masters in criminology from Oxford, John Campbell is so much better informed by an elderly medical doctor and a lefty academic.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/11/queensland-lollipop-workers-could-earn-190k-under-new-government-plan.html

“Lollipop workers in Australia could be earning an eye-watering amount under a new Queensland Government plan.

The new wage of $A178,000 ($NZ188,000) for the traffic controllers is part of a new plan being considered by the Labor Government, according to the Australian Financial Review.

It would see a rise in wages to jobs on regional construction products in order to meet new minimum conditions. It will apply to major state-funded projects worth more than $A100 million ($NZ106 million).

Queensland lollipop workers could earn $190k under new government plan
The $135,000 job that requires only two days of training

The new plan was sent to tenderers in October and had 122 pages of minimum conditions. This included five percent annual pay increases, requirements to pay weekend hours at overtime rates of 200 percent and 21 percent superannuation contributions, according to the Australian Financial Review.

It is similar to an existing Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union’s industry agreement.”

    • The Nazi were the least corrupt and most sensible socialist party to date.

There policies were pragmatic and dealt with the underlying problems of their monetary system.

I would be proud of the accolade.

      • You are worried about the government controlling the courts, or the police having the power to persecute individuals, you mock fans of law and order here – and yet you praise the Nazis and their policies…..Bwahahahahah!!!
        Troll or genuinely confused?

(FYI – I am fascinated by the Nazis and WW2. Wrote papers at university on the wartime conduct of the Waffen SS, the German war economy (Guns and Butter, then the Speer total-war footing etc.) I collect militaria of the period. Whatever glamour they might still project long after their destruction, we can’t seperate out their criminality and cruelty -eventually on their own people in the end).

          • 1st question: Are you a grown man, or am I responding to a teenager, which is like what it feels (?)
2nd question: What part of the Nazi’s conduct around claims of criminality or cruelty can be considered “propaganda”?
I don’t want to compose an essay, but you might find a read of a biography of Eichmann illuminating. The actual death camps were in the East, and Jews were were shipped out for extermination. The myth of resettlement was peddled, and even fake resettlement areas shown to the Red Cross. The means of transportation in cattle cars was inhumane in itself. The people were separated in immediate killing and later killing. Photos (such as the Auscwitch album of SS at work and play) and statements taken from the camp staff themselves exist. Some gaurds kept attractive girls for a few days, before killing them (which technically would be frowned on, around race pollution/mixing.)
In the preceding era of mass murder in the wake of battle, before industrial means were pursed by EinsatzKommando, aided by police and Baltic/Ukrainian nationalists, mass shooting was employed most widely. Witnesses from the public, a few who survived, and even the SS and the volunteers were alive to make statements.
Paper work with tallies of the dead for these killings by regional Kommando exist amongst material the Nazis did not manage to destroy.
The ‘sardine’ method of killing was to get the people to be shot to lay down on the corpses of the dead who were shot before, and so cram as much as possible into the pit. Normally they forced people to strip naked first. Baby or children were dispatched also. Many layers were made in this fashion, stacked like firewood.
Some negatives from the killers cameras have been taken of these processes at specific sites.
When the Nazis knew the East was being retaken, they forced labourers to dig up what mass graves they could – and burn, and then grind the bodies. Again, witnesses and photographs an sites all exists of the efforts to conceal this.
The Nazis tried to clean up from 1944. They knew for instance that the world would be revolted by the evidence of the Katyn massacre commited by the Soviets in 1939 – where in contrast the Nazis dug up the graves of Poles murdered by communists, and lay them out for the world to see.
So yes, criminality and cruelty in execution.
As the borders of Germany shrank the sadists were operating on their own people – stringing up children for waving white flags as the Reich collapsed around them.
Hitler’s Nero decree showed the ultimate abandonment of his own people. Luckily the likes of Albert Speer ignored it, and in his case even openly admitted as much to Hitler.
If you don’t know these facts, then I suggest you look these people, places and events up.
This is not propaganda, but widely known historical fact of which people on all sides can corroborate, let along has plenty of documentary evidence for each specific.
That you can make such breezy statements about things on this forum causes me to wonder whether to feed the troll or not.
(I suppose that would be a 3rd question, albeit rhetorical).

    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/concerns-over-inconsiderate-auckland-drivers-not-giving-way-emergency-vehicles?auto=6109350534001

However, he added, while most people know what to do and let emergency vehicles pass, some people aren’t getting the message.

“We see it every day where people don’t give way, take far too long to do so, or stop in the middle lane or the fast lane.”

              • I’ll let him think that the invite went missing in the post.

Poor Scott is feeling fragile these days. He’s worried about the increasing level of godless support for State-sponsored killing, gay marriage, and liberal hedonism. He seems convinced that we’re on a dangerous spiral into debauchery.

If I were Scott and believed in God, and my prayers constantly went unanswered, I’d wonder what to do to get God’s attention – when he’s not too busy causing bushfires in Australia, floods in Venice, earthquakes in Albania, and famine in Africa, of course!

With the help of the media – the attackers will portray themselves as victims. And transfer the blame to a man.

  24. Work visa approvals up 9% on a year ago, residence visa approvals up 12.8% the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment says

The Government approved 34,221 work, residence and student visas in October, up 10.4% compared to October last year.

The latest figures from the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE)* show that 24,135 work visas were approved in October, up 9% compared to October last year.

Of those, 13,344 were renewals of existing work visas, while a further 870 work visas were approved for people who were previously on student visas.

The next biggest group was students, with 6411 student visas approved in October, up 14.8% compared to October last year.

Of those, 3570 were “first time” student visas, (up 21.1% on a year ago), with most of the rest being renewals of existing student visas.

The last sentence is of concern. At the end of the school time and university time the student Visa numbers go up> WTF. A rort no doubt.
    https://www.interest.co.nz/property/102752/work-visa-approvals-9-year-ago-residence-visa-approvals-128

According to MBIE, a total of 475,920 people were in this country on work, residence or student visas at the end of October, almost 10% of the total population and up 3.6% compared to the same time last year.

That included 202,917 people on work visas,187,164 on residence visas and 85,839 on student visas.
